As songwriter and composer, Benn's melodies and harmonic treatment are crossed between country, alternative country and pop. He believes that songwriting and composition are continuous improvement processes. He started out as a drummer in a four-piece band from his home town of Marion, Ohio. He enlisted in the military, and while at the U.S. Air Force Academy, he was assigned to the music department where he wrote percussion ensemble compositions. He attended and graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Education. Benn’s most recent success was his song Small Stuff featured in the Twentieth Century Fox major motion picture "The Longest Ride". Benn also had a song placed in the network TV show ‘Nashville’, while another song was placed on the TV show ‘The Mentalist’. He has had several cuts by indie artists as well as songs placed on many cable network channels. Benn believes in challenging himself everyday with new melodies and grooves. Some twenty years later, Lisa resumed acting on a regular basis and has appeared in numerous short films, industrials, tv commercials and episodic television such as the Pax Network's "It's a Miracle", hosted by Richard Thomas. She is currently seen in commercials for Physicians Mutual Insurance, the Connecticut Lottery and Tri-Star Health Systems. This #1 song was nominated for a Grammy, an ACM and a CMA award. Darling started her career as a Chicago jingle singer on television and radio commercials for such clients as McDonald’s and 7-up. Her voice sang the familiar query, "Have you driven a Ford lately?" After moving to Nashville in 1993, Darling began singing song demos as well as back-up for artists such as Garth Brooks. Nancy is CEO and Owner of Washington Street Publishing which focuses on securing placements in Film, TV, and Media. She is a frequent panelist and song evaluator for various organizations and conferences. A graduate of Sweet Briar College and Vanderbilt University, Nancy is a big fan of the men’s Commodores basketball team. She is actively involved in the local community with the Junior League of Nashville and internationally with St. George’s Episcopal Church’s missionary work in Honduras. She’s also a member of WIM, CMA, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, AIMP, The Recording Academy and SOLID.

In this songwriting class, you will meet with a Music Publisher/SongU Licensing Agent and Pitch Guest and a small group of fellow songwriters for a constructive discussion focused on potential areas of improvement in the production, music, and lyrics of your songs geared toward sync licensing Led by the creative director of Washington Street Music Publishing,Nancy Peacock and Queenie Mullinex. This song feedback is geared specifically toward your song production as it pertains to pitching successfully for TV/FILM/MEDIA placements. Please no lyrics only. You can bring one demoed song in your backpack for instructor feedback and insights.
