Song Locker FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions The Song Locker

Most Commonly Asked Questions

1. What is a Song Locker?

It is a private storage area for your songs and songs-in-progress (mp3’s and lyrics). This allows you to upload your song one time and use it seamlessly in other areas of our site such as coaching, pitching, and your member website.

2. What happens when I delete a song?

Deleting a song from your locker will remove that song anywhere it is being used throughout the SongU.com system such as in a pending song evaluation or pending pitch. Your completed song evaluations and pitch history will not be affected.

3. What happens when I edit a song?

Editing a song will update the song throughout the site wherever it is being used including Coaching, Pitching, your Member Website and your Backpack. This is an easy way to make sure your songs have your latest re-writes.

Technical Issues

1. I'm having problems uploading my MP3

If you are having problems uploading, make sure the filename is not over 40 characters and does not have any strange characters (e.g. %,?, !, @) or blank spaces in it. Also, make sure the MP3 is less than 8 MB in size. Finally, make sure that the MP3 is actually in MP3 format. If it's really a Windows Media Audio file that was simply renamed to have an MP3 extension, it will not be playable as an MP3. See the DIY tutorial course GEN 110 Preparing Your Audio for Uploading.

2. Help! My MP3 doesn't play

If your MP3 uploads, but doesn't play at all, it's possible that either the MP3 is corrupted or that there is a strange character in the file name that prevents it from playing (e.g. %, ?, !, @). Try renaming your MP3 file. If the problem persists, make sure that the MP3 is actually in MP3 format. If it's really a Windows Media Audio file that was simply renamed to have an MP3 extension, it will not be playable as an MP3. If you cannot solve it, fill out a support request and we'll troubleshoot with you.

3. How do I make my MP3 smaller?

See the DIY course GEN 110 Preparing Your Audio for Uploading.
