MODERN DAY BLACKSMITH
MODERN DAY BLACKSMITH
Danny Arena/Sara Light/Jack Sundrud
He stands beneath the hickory tree
His mighty arms ‘a swingin’.
Sparks fly, sweat drips from his eyes
His steel hammer singin’.
He holds a fire-red horseshoe up.
The crowd begins to cheer.
They just love the slice of life from yesteryear.
And the tour guide says, follow me.
There’s so much more for you to see.
A woman at a spinning wheel
You can hear it hummin’.
Another works behind the loom
Her harpist fingers strummin’.
Weaving homespun memories of a different time
Before their jobs were taken by assembly lines.
And the tour guide says,
That’s the way it used to be.
Life was so much simpler then.
Once the wheels of progress pass you by
They don’t come round again.
I pick up my old guitar
And slowly start to pickin’.
Play a lick, get out my pen,
Do a little scribblin’.
A couple lines of words and rhymes
From deep down in my heart
I tap into the magic where the music starts.
And the tour guide says, that’s how it used to be.
In the days before we got it all for free.
That’s when I woke up.
And started to wonder if
I’m the Modern Day Blacksmith.

SCARS
SCARS
VERSE
Tommy pulled a cigarette from his pocket
That he stole from his father
Lit a match and passed it around
To all the boys the playground
I stared as it was handed to me
And tried to decide if I was gonna be
The only one who was gonna chicken out
I didn’t worry I’d get addicted
Or what the surgeon general said
I just took two puffs and tried not to cough my lungs out
CHORUS:
But hey
You live, you learn
You make mistakes
And then you learn how to live with
Those same mistakes you make
You stand up, you fall down
On your way around to who you are
The best lessons in life
You learn from the Scars
VERSE
I graduated and moved to the city
I took my guitar and my Jenny with me
And promised her someday I’d be a star
Jenny took a waitress job to pay the rent
I wish i could say back then
I knew how much that meant
But I just ignored that part
And on the night that she moved back home
I was playing on the road
For seven drunks in the lounge of the Days Inn motel
(TO CHORUS)
BRIDGE
But life has a way of knowing when to turn the pages
You wind and try to find your way
and then you find out where your place is…
VERSE
Tonight as I lay down beside my wife
I take quiet stock of my life
And think about all the things
That really matter to me
Like how to be a better husband
A better father, and calling my brother
Just to shoot the breeze
As I close my eyes I say a prayer
Run my hands through Jenny’s long hair

GARDEN OF EDEN
GARDEN OF EDEN
Danny Arena/Arlos Smith
ADAM STARED AT THE APPLE THAT HE SHARED WITH EVE
HE KNEW IT WAS AGAINST THE RULES THEY WERE GONNA HAVE TO LEAVE
ADAM SAID TO EVE DON’T WORRY WHEREVER WE GO IS HOME
I’D RATHER LIVE OUTSIDE THE GARDEN WITH YOU INSTEAD OF INSIDE ALL ALONE
CHORUS:
WHEREVER YOU GO I’LL GO
WHEREVER IT MIGHT LEAD
YOU GOT MY HEART AND SOUL
YOU’RE A PART OF ME
WITHOUT YOU LIFE WOULD BE
JUST ANOTHER LONELY DAY
IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN
NOW HONEY THAT’S THE SAME WAY I FEEL ABOUT YOU
I’D WALK AWAY FROM EVERYTHING IF I HAD TO
CAUSE EVERYTHING MEANS NOTHING IF YOU’RE NOT BY MY SIDE
WHEREVER WE ARE IS WHAT I CALL PARADISE...(AND)
CHORUS:
WHEREVER YOU GO I’LL GO
WHEREVER IT MIGHT LEAD
YOU GOT MY HEART AND SOUL
YOU’RE A PART OF ME
WITHOUT YOU LIFE WOULD BE
JUST ANOTHER LONELY DAY
IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN
BRIDGE:
YOU ARE THE TRUE LOVE I SHARE MY LIFE WITH
AND HEAVEN KNOWS THAT AS LONG AS I LIVE
(TO CHORUS:)

FDBK 300 - I FALL
I FALL S. Light/D. Arena/M. Ramirez
I am a shooting star – lighting up the sky
I am a coin that’s tossed into a wishing well
I am a melody that’s reached it’s highest note
I am a leaf in autumn – can’t you tell
Everyday I fall – I fall
I am a stone that’s [thrown] over a rocky cliff
I am a sober man who took another drink
I am a tear that drops when a love is lost
I am a angel who has lost his wings
Everyday I fall – I fall
When life is set into motion – you can’t stop it, you can’t stop it
Just like a wave on the ocean – sometimes we need to tumble to a different place
To find our way
I am a mother who’s holding her newborn child
I am a remedy – for a broken heart
I am a little girl taking her first steps
I am sleeping in my lover’s arms
Everyday I fall – I fall – I fall --- for you --- END ---

SO EASY
SO EASY
(Sara Light/Danny Arena)
It’s how you take my hand when we’re walkin’
And how we can spend hours talkin’
About life or just spend an afternoon
At the ten-plex at a matinee
Lovin you isn’t complicated
It’s just the simple truth that
CHORUS
It’s SO EASY to love you
Easy to laugh with you about everything
And have I told you lately how much I like to be
In a love that's SO EASY
We may not be inventing the wheel
But long as it’s spinning I like the feel
Of moving through life with you by my side
Every smile is a gift you give me
I thank God every day you’re with me
For what you do without even trying and
(REPEAT CHORUS)
BRIDGE
It’s how you always find a way
Always know what to say to get right to my heart
And the world falls in place at night when I take you in my arms cause
(REPEAT CHORUS)

IS ANYBODY LISTENING (THE LA-LA SONG)
IS ANYBODY LISTENING?
Danny Arena
Marcia Ramirez
V1:
THERE’S AN OLD BLACK MAN WALKING DOWN THE STREET
WEARING WORN OUT SHOES AND TATTERED CLOTHES
HE’S SINGING AS LOUD AS HE CAN
SMILING AT THE WORLD SO I WANNA KNOW
WHY I’M SITTING IN MY SUV
AS COMFORTABLE AS I CAN BE
AND HE’S THE ONE THAT REALLY SEEMS HAPPY
I CAN HEAR HIM SINGING...
CHORUS:
LA LA LA LA LA LA
LA LA LA LA LA LA
LA LA LA LA LA LA
IS ANYBODY LISTENING?
V2:
WHEN I GOT HOME SAW MY NEIGHBOR JENNY
AND HER LITTLE BOY PLAYING OUT IN THE YARD
SHE’S A SINGLE MOM SHE’S GOT IT ROUGH
WORKS TWO JOBS AND DRIVES A BEAT UP CAR
I’VE GOT MORE THAN I’LL EVER NEED
AND THEY'RE STRUGGLING JUST TO MAKE ENDS MEET
BUT THEY'RE THE ONES THAT REALLY SEEM HAPPY
I CAN HEAR THEM SINGING...
(REPEAT CHORUS)
BRIDGE:
I STARTED TO LAUGH
THEN I STARTED TO CRY
THEN I STARTED TO THINK
THAT THE SECRETS OF LIFE
STARTED SOMEWHERE IN THEIR SIMPLE SONG
SO I STARTED TO SING ALONG
(REPEAT CHORUS)
