    Backstory:
With Prices so high, Doug and I decided to write a song reflecting the struggle the working class is going through trying to pay bills in this challenging environment

    Lyrics:

I’m Not Gonna Take It No More V1 I’m just a hardworking guy in a redneck Ford, I did the things they told me I should. I played by the rules and kept my head down, But it really didn’t do me much good. Hell, I remember when pay day used to be cool, Man, I could handle every debt that was due, But now the rent keeps rising, bills pile up And why I haven’t a clue. CH But I’M NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE No, I’M NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE I’ve got two strong hands, And a whole lot of pride, And fast wheels to get out of town. So I’M NOT GONNA TAKE THIS NO MORE V2 School didn't teach us the real facts of life, How many more will end up the same? I can read and do math, I appreciate that, But it’s only part of the game. I don’t blame my coach or the Baptist preacher, They tried to help, they know how it feels, They’re just well-meaning folks, as clueless as me, who can’t even pay their own bills CH And I’M NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE No, I’M NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE I’ve got two strong hands, And a whole lot of pride And fast wheels to get out of town, And I’M NOT GONNA TAKE THIS NO MORE BRIDGE Look around for yourself and tell me I’m wrong We’re entangled in a nasty trap. The fat cats and politicians write all the rules, And TV just sells us more crap. V3 Don’t know where I’ll end up tonight, I can drive that truck pretty far. Just gotta get out of here before I end up Another drunk in the roadside bars. CH I’M NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE No, I’M NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE I’ve got two strong hands, And a whole lot of pride, And fast wheels to get out of town, I might not figure out what life’s all about, But damn I’m gonna give it a run And I’M NOT GONNA TAKE THIS NO MORE No I’M NOT GONNA TAKE THIS NO MORE. No, I’M NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE. © 2025 Doug Stanglin & Janet Devers
