Backstory:
John moved the line "some days will be long," and separated it from the chorus, we tried many different ways to do it. You will hear that it really doesn't work well and it sounds forced and awkward. I did add a second section to verse one, and if you don't like it, we can cut it and just add an instrumental bridge as we discussed. I think if we move the line "Some days will be long," back to where it was, and if you don't like the second section of V1 we can cut it and add the instrumental bridge and the song will be done.
Lyrics:
Verse
Dad always told me family comes first
He hoped for the best, never thought about the worst
He'd always smile as he kissed my mom
She'd smile back, peaceful and calm
We had a life with many ups and downs
A man of few words, but what he said sure did count
Worked hard and kept two feet on the ground
A solid simple man, by most accounts
Pre-Chorus
Even when trouble came our way
He'd simply smile and say
Some days will be long
Chorus
When I feel empty
Love helps me to carry on
Dad's words shine a light to help me see
It's okay, some days will be long
Verse
The world can be a deeply troubled place
So many careless people acting without grace
When I get weary and lose my way
I remember those words dad used to say
Some days will be long
Chorus
When I feel empty
Love helps me to carry on
Dad's words shine a light to help me see
It's okay, some days will be long
Outro
It's okay some days will be long
