Backstory:

I wanted it to make this listeners feel what it may be like to love someone, only to have them not return such love but rather take advantage of it. They play the victim, everyone else believes them. The only one who truly knows what they were really like, is left alone to “die” in a sense. The bad person ends up winning in this song, the true victim is left alone to grieve a love that was never real. And yet, still wished and hoped it was real. Every time they catch themselves thinking about their love, they remember to pain.
