    Backstory:
I showed up a little early and wrote this idea while I was waiting on current CCM star Ben Fuller to arrive for a co-write!

    Lyrics:

GIRL IN CHURCH (VERSE) I was sittin' at the end of a pew one Sunday morning Trying to pray away my sins from the night before Asking for salvation from a life headed nowhere Beggin' God to open up a brand new door (VERSE) Bout then I felt a tap on my shoulder Girl smiled and took a seat next to me Our eyes locked for a moment that seemed like an hour Till the music brought us both to our feet (CHORUS) And that girl in church sang like an angel And when she hit the chorus of Amazing Grace I felt like I'd been lifted straight up to heaven And blessed with a power like I'd been saved No, I'd never heard nothing on this earth Like that girl in church (VERSE) I gathered myself as the preacher spoke But, I couldn't hide the goose bumps on my skin I tried hard not to stare at her long golden hair While her sweet perfume was makin' my head spin (CHORUS) Yeah... (BRIDGE) Now, don't tell me that God don't answer prayers Cause for two years ev'ry Sunday we've been holdin' hands right there (BREAKDOWN CHORUS) And that girl in church sings like an angel And when she hits the chorus of Amazing Grace I still feel like I've been lifted straight up to heaven And blessed with a power like I've been saved No, I've never heard nothing on this earth Like my girl in church Yeah, that's my girl in church (OUTRO) Oh, I'm so glad I met that girl in church Oh yeah, that girl in church Copyright 1/5/20 Pat Kelley, BMI
