Backstory:
I followed the news regarding the astronauts stranded in space waiting to be brought back to earth
I recently read a book called Orbital, it was about a space station orbiting the earth and how they felt orbiting the earth. I decided a song about the world we live in seen from space was original and none patronising.
I also researched the Apollo missions to the moon and observations from the astronauts.
Title was tricky as I could not fit one into the lyric of the song that felt right.
I came up with Song From The Moon, one of those titles that isn't in the actual song.
Lyrics:
Song From The Moon
Verse 1
There are all kinds of heroes, villains with their schemes
Love hate and laughter, miracles and dreams
Inventors, explorers,saints and sinners to
So many things man don't need, and all the things they do
I'm looking out my window at planet earth below
Am I ever coming home to you
Verse 2
Cant see no pollution, cant hear no wars
Earth's looking so peaceful from here amongst the stars
No barriers, no borders, no famine no greed
Superpowers don't exist, and everyone is free
I'm looking out my window at planet earth below
Am I ever coming home to you
Bridge
A shy blue sphere with swirling veils of white
A speck of dust suspended in the brightest of sunbeams
Verse 3
See the globe from a distance, changes how you feel
You just want to fix it and hope that it can heal
I'm filled with a sadness and I'm so afraid
Terrified the earth may break and there is no first aid
I'm looking out my window at planet earth below
Am I ever coming home to you
I'm looking out my window
