Backstory:
This song was the result of seeing too many women being abused and I wanted to remind them that they are a diamond as we all are. Empowering women is important to me in my songwriting.

You think you’ve found a way to keep me under your thumb
You can see it in my eyes, I wanna run
You keep applying pressure, hoping I’ll break
But boy that was your first mistake
Some girls are made of sugar and spice
Some are made of dirt and rocks and ice
But girls like me have a darkness in our soul
Born to take the heat, we’re made of coal
Diamond, I’m so alive and
I can’t pretend or bend to your will
Brilliant, one in a million
You’ve done it now, somehow you’ve turned me in
To a diamond, I’m a diamond
The more weight you put on me, the more I’m gonna shine
A flawless gem, prettier with time
And this is a game you know you’re gonna lose
And I’m gonna leave no matter what you do
Some girls are made of sugar and spice
Some are made of dirt and rocks and ice
But girls like me have a darkness in our soul
Born to take the heat, we’re made of coal
Diamond, I’m so alive and
I can’t pretend or bend to your will
Brilliant, one in a million
You’ve done it now, somehow you’ve turned me in
To a diamond, I’m a diamond
Diamond, I’m so alive and
I can’t pretend or bend to your will
Brilliant, one in a million
You’ve done it now, somehow you’ve turned me in
To a diamond, I’m a diamond
I’m a diamond, Ya, I’m a diamond
