Backstory:
I became our agency's representative to our local anti-sex trafficking organization, Appalachian Voices Unite. At the first meeting, my eyes were opened to the scourge of human trafficking, when a woman recently delivered from sex trafficking spoke. I knew there needed to be a song that would raise awareness about this terrible problem. Then, the movie, Sound of Freedom, came out and validated my opinion.
Lyrics:
Calling the Lonely and Lost
Vs 1
Another day, another dollar ---- she is sent out to work the street.
Doesn’t matter what you call her ---- she goes with any man she meets.
Though back in school she was a scholar ---- she barely has enough to eat.
Vs 2
She spends most every night despairing, over the living hell she’s in
Questions if she can keep bearing, the shame and grief that never ends.
Or if her life is worth repairing; is there forgiveness for her sins?
Chorus
Calling the lonely and lost ---- those from whom peace has departed.
The ones with broken dreams -- failed plans and schemes,
Who the world has discarded.
There's no need to fear, grace has appeared.
Jesus has paid the cost, and there’s good news today,
Because He’s calling the lonely and lost
Vs 3
Now she is finally on the right track ---- her life is slowly on the mend.
She and her family can be found at ---- that little church where they attend.
And is determined not to look back ---- now that she’s where new life begins.
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
When they reach the end of their rope
People need to know there is hope.
Chorus
