    Backstory:
Just brainstorming. It began as a general break up song. Cathy and I changed it for the pitch to Reba McEntire. It begins with a great vibe, gets a bit sad in the middle but the triumph is in the last verse.

    Lyrics:

Wine and Roses Verse 1 As she walked down the aisle In satin and white lace She saw the sweetest smile Come across his face He took out the diamond ring Slipped it on her trembling hand He was her noble king She was the happiest girl in the land Chorus Back then it was wine and roses They smiled for wedding poses Their own little heaven on earth Thinking they could never be hurt It was all wine and roses Verse 2 Now they try to say I love you But the words just won't come Their tears tell the bitter truth Their hearts are on the run But he’s still her one and only She’s not ready for it to end She wishes he’d kiss her slowly And light that fire once again Chorus Back then it was wine and roses They smiled for wedding poses Their own little heaven on earth Thinking they could never be hurt It was all wine and roses Verse 3 Time has a way of changing minds They may have grown apart But they could never deny The love that’s in their hearts One year down the road They’re together still Their love has only grown With every trial and thrill Chorus Back then it was wine and roses They smiled for wedding poses Their own little heaven on earth Thinking they could never be hurt It was all wine and roses ©2024 Michael D.
