Backstory:
Was a song I wrote as an exercise in a songwriting class. It's about a country boy who moved into the city for an office job and hates the city. Much of how I have felt at times. Meant to paint the contrast between city and country life
I do have music but wanted to get feedback on the lyrics first
Lyrics:
Kickin’ it Country
Tired of high risin’ castles, cubicle shackles
Dronin’ nine to five
Travelin’ steely dark subways, parking lot highways
Draped in neon lights
I’m done with suits and ties, too clean and too pristine
Levi’s and an old tee shirt rock my wash machine
Kickin’ it country; headed where everybody knows me
Rockin’ chair lazy…sunny days chillin’ with a cold one
Get a little rowdy, aw ya; that’s where I wanna be
Kickin’ it country
No more chasin’ them deadlines, waitin’ in lines
For fancy coffee drinks
I’ll be shootin’ some pool with old friends from school
Downing Wild Turkey
Time to head back home; get off this crazy ride
Packin’ up my truck, leave my cares behind
Kickin’ it country; headed where everybody knows me
Rockin’ chair lazy…sunny days chillin’ with a cold one
Get a little rowdy, aw ya; that’s where I’m gonna be
Kickin’ it country
(Bridge)
I used to think my happiness meant that I had to roam
Truth is all I’ll ever need I’ll find when I went home
Kickin’ it country; headed where everybody knows me
Rockin’ chair lazy…sunny days chillin’ with a cold one
Get a little rowdy, aw ya; that’s where you will see me
Kickin’ it country
(Tag)
That’s where you will see me
