Backstory:
I got the idea for this song from the pitch info and I took it to one of my best co-writers. We began by doing a deep dive into Alan Jackson's roots and history including a 1996 Crook & Chase interview. He is one of my top five all time favorite country artists along with George Jones, Randy Travis, Merle Haggard and George Strait. The demo was provided by my other best co-writer, Song U member Albert Compton.
Lyrics:
My Country's Always Classic
Lyric
Verse 1:
Well I know times are different now
And they have been for a while
I'm told I need to adjust
And modernize my style
But tradition makes me who I am
It never leaves my grip
I play my George Jones records
Pour some sweet tea, take a sip
Chorus:
Oh, my hat was made in Texas
And the same goes for my boots
And I was raised in Georgia
From a long line of down home roots
While new trends whirl around me
I stand firm on solid ground
My country's always classic
And it's coming back around
Verse 2:
Yes I know there’s room for change
And I Don't fault those who decide
To roll along and follow
The direction of the tide
But I know just who I am
Who I’ve been and who I’ll be
A simple man with simple plans
Filled with faith and family
Chorus
Oh, my hat was made in Texas
And the same goes for my boots
And I was raised in Georgia
Come from years of down home roots
While new trends whirl around me
I stand firm on solid ground
My country's always classic
And it's coming back around
Fiddle Instr.
Repeat Chorus
Outro
Yeah my country's always classic
And it's coming back around
