    Backstory:
I wrote this song a few years back and always believed that it was good. Went through a few vocalist and finally found one that captures the feelings of a woman pushed down for so many years, unsure if she could survive on her own. Then she finally reached the point of maturity to break free and find that not only can she survive, she can thrive. "can't stop the heart of a free soul" The vocalist is Sophie Cannon. I have full rights to the song.

    Lyrics:

Verse She left home when she was 17 thought she'd found the man of her dreams promised her love until they die all she got was pain and lies he took away the girl she knew turned her into to someone blue down and out, so lost inside she wonders how she’ll survive Chorus (and she’s thinking) Can I live without you can I make it on my own there's going to come a time getting stronger every day 10 thousand reasons to leave but not one to stay I know what I have to do pretty soon I’m sure I’ll say, goodbye Verse 20 years didn’t change the man still, she thought she needed him to stand when all he did was knock her down one day she finally came around She found strength from deep inside from the pain she could no longer hide he didn’t think she’d really go can’t stop the heart of a free soul Chorus Can I live without you can I make it on my own there's going to come a time getting stronger every day 10 thousand reasons to leave but not one to stay I know what I have to do pretty soon I’m sure I’ll say, goodbye Bridge I’ve risen above you, my heart says leave I’ve served a sentence, I’ve earned reprieve Faded love and shattered dreams broken promises, hope unseen the love is gone and so am I, good bye Chorus I can live without you I can make it on my own It’s so much better everyday never needed you anyway tears are gone, strength remains filled with joy, no more pain I can live without you never needed you anyway never needed you anyway
