    Backstory:
This song is for my friend Jake Green, who passed away unexpectedly two years ago this month. He was quite a guy. He played guitar and sang in an acoustic group I 'm still in. Jake was quite a talent as well as just a great guy to sit and talk with. He had such an easy laugh that went with his great sense of humor. He was a retired airline pilot and had great stories. His kids GAVE me his Martin D35, and that resulted in this attempt at this song.
    Thanks for listening,
    Mac Millen

Jake’s Guitar (Mac Millen) V1 He left some songs in this guitar case Chords and words on sheets of paper I’ll never take them out His favorite strap, his favorite picks A faded bar tab receipt From gigs in some roadhouse Pre-chorus Every time I open up this case See his Martin laying there I get to visit him again His spirit’s in the air Ch When I play Jake’s guitar He’s in the wood and steel He’s here with me again And the pain is almost healed For those of us that loved him His passing left a scar But there’s healing in the music That lives here, in Jake’s guitar V2 That morning when he left for glory Started out like a normal day Now things won’t be the same He’s probably laughing when I sing Those old tunes he use to play The ones he always claimed Pre-chorus I don’t need to spend time at his grave ‘Cause that ain’t where he is He’s living in the memories Of all those songs we did Ch Br His family, honored me They gave me his guitar And every time I play it My friend is never far Ch Tag There’s healing in the music That lives here, in Jake’s Guitar ©2022 Mac Millen Music
