Backstory:
This was a reworked lyric from a song I did over a year ago. I know songs about first love are nothing new. In my mind I hear this as an upbeat pop singer-songwriter sound. Would love your thoughts on that..... if you think the lyrics are commercial to begin with. i want it to be uplifting and reminiscent not something melancholy......:)
Lyrics:
Young Love
Verse:
trembling knees, racing hearts
stomach butterflies
steamy windows, backroads
apple wine, starry sky
passion burns
so hot it hurts
prechorus:
how do we survive
the intoxicating high
Chorus:
of that
first love
that teenage dreams
are made of
euphoria
is a drug
gets us hooked,
can’t get enough
it’s intense, new
it consumes you
thet exquisite pain
and a one track brain,
young love
Verse:
bodies may come of age
when our hearts still need to learn
dizzy with emotion
time stands still, earth won’t turn
then the moment’s gone
life marches on
there’s some hard goodbyes
when young wings begin to fly
Chorus:
from that
first love
that teenage dreams
are made of
oxytocin (or.. love hormone?)
in our blood
gets us hooked,
can’t get enough
it’s intense, new
it consumes you
the exquisite pain
and a one track brain
young love
bridge-
we don’t really grasp it
in that piece of time
but when we grow past it
we realize
it’s particular magic,
feeling so alive
Chorus:
oh that
first love
that teenage dreams
are made of
infatuation
is a drug
gets us hooked,
can’t get enough
it’s intense, new
it consumes you
the exquisite pain
and a one track brain
young love
