    LYRICS:
Grade/Comments: A Like the whole 60's-70's vibe of this musically and production wise, the style and content of these lyrics fit that perfectly too in evoking the "freedom" loving spirit of the music and song as a whole. The prosody or song marriage between these words and this music is just PERFECT !!! I do love though how suddenly in the 2nd verse you get more serious for a minute.... Friend - I watched you battle Til the end of your war Dragged down by drugs and alcohol I should have done something more And then the rest of the lyric is so positive, soaring, and "Free Hawk Fly." I think it is very cool that you changed the tone so dramatically in that one section when the rest is so free and positive. very effective lyrical move there.
Grade denotes: Excellent. Competitive at a professional songwriting level.

    MUSIC:
Grade/Comments: A+ You had me at the downbeat and the flute intro !!! And then my love fest for this song overall and especially musically continued own from there. How nice to have you and Wayne G. come back into my musical universe with such a soaring, uplifting musical signature piece. And the chorus just pays off beautifully for me. And I didn't realize how much i love flute as a solo instrument until i hear it used so powerfully here. And the vocals !!! Pure 60's stacked harmonies in all their beauty and majesty !!!

    ORIGINALITY:
Grade/Comments: B+ I can't say any particular band or artist this reminds me of, but there's a very strong 60's-70's "vibe" here that reminds me of a lot of wonderful things in general. The flute in the intro and throughout was an immediate tip-off to your influences and references. But this is just a most wonderful walk down musical and song memory lane.

FREE HAWK FLY Can you change these arms to wings and free me? Lift me with a sudden, summer breeze We’ll glide above the tips of the trees And follow the river You and Me, Down to the white caps of the sea Freedom! Free Hawk Fly Freedom! Free Hawk Fly Friend, I watched you battle Til the end of your war Dragged down by drugs and alcohol I should have done something more Freedom! Free Hawk Fly Freedom! Free Hawk Fly We're sentenced at birth To be chained to the earth Now I raise my eyes to your kingdom in the sky Can you change these arms to wings and free me? We'll follow the river to the white caps of the sea And be free
