Backstory:

This song came out of a songwriting class I did recently.

There’s a photo in a gold frame on the wall
Full of people smiling, you can see us all
Looks like we don’t have a care in the world
Back when my Dad still had his hair
We’re gathered round him in his easy chair
With my mom and brothers and me, the only girl

The fighting started after that
My mama left us with our Dad
She had to go away to find herself
And me, I grew up way too fast
Trying to leave the hurt there in the past
