Backstory:

The song was originally composed as a slow, whimsical ballad with some ambitious chord progressions and probably, an overly simplistic and idealised view of what was actually involved in forming and sustaining a proper meaningful relationship.

 We revisited the song some years later having acquired more life experience and the realisation that even the most initially romantic of love affairs will inevitably have elements of the mundane at times but that we must still try to make the most of what we have. This is acknowledged in the line “In a life less ordinary”

The lyric then moves to an optimistic note, suggesting that with the right partner and a lot of staying power, a long term relationship always has the potential to be fulfilling and life affirming “On the golden wings of eagles we can fly”. 

Musically, it was developed from three similar verses adding the bridge and the standalone chorus line.
We worked on creating a punchy, upbeat version maybe adding a tone of the sardonic to the piece and tweaking  the initial romantic ‘rose tinted’ verses in a more considered light. With a similar message as the original, but hopefully, a more energetic, fun and thoughtful version.
