    Backstory:
The lyrics song was written quite some time ago by one of us about dishonesty in a relationship, predicting (or hoping for) retribution for the liar. It is a confronting, cathartic release for the person let down by dishonesty by someone they loved deeply.

Musically we have not changed it a huge amount - except in how it was configured V,C,B,instro,V,C,C ending. We added the bridge and ending.,

Though this is a basic acoustic version the actual concept of the song was probably more moody, electric, retro in instrumentation style. The section in the middle would have some kind of lead instrumental over it.
We entered this recently in a round of the UK song contest for 2020 and were very pleased that it got a 4 star highly commended rating in this very basic recording. We'd love to get the next version to a 5 star!

We are not professional singers and we record at home but haven't been able to due to covid hence the basic, rough acoustic version of this song from a while back when we were working on it. Representing our songs well both from a vocal delivery and recording (to get them to broadcast quality) has been challenging for us with previous compositions. We therefore want to get as much feedback we can on our songs at earlier stages so we can make them the best they can be when we do record them when things are a bit safer.

Liar Copyright © 2020 Jane Hasler, Alan Blair Middleton, Paul Stewart Ross, Vocals on track Jane Hasler and Karen Ewing You’re oh so good with your honied lines, You weave so well your verbal spell Caught so fast I don’t know where to turn, All my answers go so wrong, How can your words, ring so true? Like a movie star, you take your cue, Down inside the truth is there, But you play your part, pretend not to care, Chorus Lie to yourself, tell a story so tall, Lie to yourself, tell a story so tall, But maybe, yeah, Liars head for a fall, Liars head for a fall, Bridge Once upon you swept, Into the dreams and hopes I kept, Happiness was yours to hold. Lying in the light of love we glowed, Lying in the light of love we glowed, Instro Twist the truth to what suits you, So subtle, so skilful, you do what you do Shut out the love, respect and the grace, All to hide the facts you can’t face, Convince yourself that you were right, Make me feel tarnished when once I was bright But somehow I know that life has a way, Of making those who are guilty pay Repeat chorus twice One bar with guitar then Liar you will fall (slowly)
