    Backstory:
I wrote the original lyric after the loss of a very old standing family friend who I had known all my life. She was my best friend's mum and like a second mum to me. That transcended to becoming great friends when I moved back to the area where I grew up for 16 years before she died. She was an amazing wise, and very 'current' lady. She had a great gift in supporting others especially at times of trouble in their lives. I felt her loss very keenly which I hope the song tries to convey - but at the same time it is also trying to say she is still touching my life as a hopeful message.

I composed it in the summer just after she had passed - there was a massive thunder and lightening storm and I sat in the conservatory. It has been worked on, cut down a bit and developed a bit more from the original melody by my co-writers.
This version is very rough - just recorded on garage band in one take as a rough version. It is not a polished version and I am not a professional singer.
So apologies for some dodgy timing at the beginning and some of the vocal delivery being limited.
We have had to take a break from song writing and trying to record due to the covid situation.

    Lyrics:

‘‘Old Friend’ July 20 Old friend do you know? How I miss you so, How I miss you so Old friend do you know? What you taught me, what you showed me? And the lightning strikes, And the lightning sears, Oh the lightning the blinds, Old friend of mine, how your light still shines, And your wisdom guides me, Now and forever, now and forever more, oh oh oh oh ore, And the rain comes down, and the rain it heals, oh the rain renews, And I want to go, out under that rain, and let it clean, Let it purge my soul, and seep within, let it wash away, Now and forever more, All the sadness I feel today, Old friend of mine and so I’ll find you in my heart Now and forever, now and forever more oh oh ore, Old friend, do you know? Your light still shines, Still shines in me. Old friend, do you know? Your light still shines, Still shines in me.
