    Backstory:
So many country songs seem to celebrate drinking to excess. Having seen the effects of alcoholism on my older brother, who finally passed due to complications of the disease, I was inspired to write this song. It doesn't preach or moralize, just tells the story of someone who finally quit drinking too late.

    Lyrics:

Not Enough ©2018 Steve Bryant (VERSE) She said she could fix me, Her love would be enough. I put down the bottle for almost a year, At times it got pretty rough. I wasn’t much of a husband, Not even a friend. She stayed as long as she could, But I was too broken to mend. (CHORUS) There’s not enough beer in Milwaukee, To wash away her smile. Not enough Bourbon in Kentucky, To make me forget awhile. Not enough wine in California, To take the loneliness away. Guess I never had enough love, To make her stay. (VERSE) I was in and out of rehab, She wouldn’t believe I had changed. Tried to tell her so many times, She couldn’t forget the pain. I finally got a good job, Stopped the drinking and the lies. Spending my life without her, Even a fool would realize… (CHORUS) There’s not enough beer in Milwaukee, To wash away her smile. Not enough Bourbon in Kentucky, To make me forget awhile. Not enough wine in California, To take the loneliness away. Guess I never had enough love, To make her stay. (BRIDGE) There’s always enough time, To do the things you should. But there’s never enough time, To make a bad decision good. (CHORUS) There’s not enough beer in Milwaukee, To wash away her smile. Not enough Bourbon in Kentucky, To make me forget awhile. Not enough wine in California, To take the loneliness away. Guess I never had enough love, To make her stay.
