    Backstory:
This is a mostly true story about my family who ran Johnson Brothers Rodeos out of Denver Colorado.

    Lyrics:

Spirit of The Rodeo Grandpa and my Great Uncle Bob, ran a rodeo out in Denver. And my dad grew up with the rodeo, was the best thing he could remember. But Grandpa was killed by a bucking horse, and Uncle Bob was getting too old. Dad said we had to do something different, find another way we could go. So my dad took a look at what all we had, he said, “there has got to be a way, for us to sell the stuff from the rodeo, and find something that will get us paid.” He said “I have an idea how to make a living, and keep our family fed. And Dad said Grandpa may be gone, but the rodeo spirit aint dead. Chorus: Now its an 18 wheeler rolling down the road, and my dad on his way with another load, hauling anything he can just to make a buck, to feed our family and to pay for that truck. And he believes Grandpa’s riding at his side. They found a way to keep the rodeo alive. In a big black Kenworth always on the go, that he calls, Spirit of the Rodeo. A golden lasso sits ‘round gold-trimmed red letters that say “Spirit of the Rodeo” with another sign that says “Pop and Son Trucking” in smaller letters below. With black puffs of smoke from the silver stacks, she’s like a big old snorting bronc. He drops the clutch and the Spirit leaps off, with a mighty roaring air horn honk. Now Dad only comes home once in a while, and before long he’s already gone. Seems like he’s always the “rider up,” as the big Rodeo rolls on. We all have to deal with some hard times in life, and it’s easy to take a fall. But that big black Kenworth truck of his, is how we shake our fist at it all. (Repeat Chorus then tag) That he calls, Spirit of… the Rodeo. (Repeat to fade) And they ride________. Roll on Rodeo; and they ride____________. Roll on Rodeo; and they ride____________.
