Backstory:

This son is for a person who gave all he had to build a business from scratch and put every nickel into it trying to hold on to it and build it into a powerful empire.  It grew and grew until it consumed him and everything else that once mattered didn't matter anymore.  The day he walked away he began to realize what he lost in the process of building the empire of power.  He wondered if what he gained was worth what he lost.  This song is for everyone who has been in that situation.   The song also can apply to anyone who became obsessed with anything that caused loss of something more important that really mattered only to realize that too late.  Was the pleasure worth the pain in any situation?
