    Backstory:
I was inspired by the shooting of police officers in Dallas, Baton Rogue and elsewhere. I was out for a morning walk and the title came to me. I used my iPhone to record the thoughts and melody that came in a virtual flood. I began writing the song, as soon as I got home and, aside from some small changes, I finished the basic song in about an hour.

My wife had the thought about using a police dispatcher "final call." I was able to use one of the local dispatchers in our town and she was thrilled. Of course, I also obtained a release from her...lol!

Our local law enforcement has been cheering me on for a long time to get this song "out there." Hopefully, that will happen.

    Lyrics:

He Bleeds Blue She runs her hot iron over his uniform It's cleaned and pressed with a crease, not one thread is torn She kisses him goodbye, plants one on his badge for luck Then he's off to his thankless job, the one he loves so much (Chorus) He bleeds blue Pride written on his face He knows the danger And does his job anyway Out there trying to make a diff'rence Protecting me and you Tuning out the ridicule 'Cause he bleeds blue There's kids that hang in the park, he's takin' a liking to Spends time with them to listen and to shoot some hoops He brings Ms. Jones her mail, cause she's been laid up for months Then he saves a wife with a black eye and hauls the creep away in cuffs Just a routine traffic stop, like he's done a thousand times Soon his partner cries while he tells the wife, "God called our brother home tonight" (Breakdown Chorus) And he bleeds blue Pride written on his face He knew the danger And did his job anyway Out there trying to make a diff'rence Protecting me and you Was scorned and ridiculed Yet, he bleeds blue Scorned and ridiculed Oh, he bleeds blue She runs her hot iron over his uniform It's cleaned and pressed with a crease...'cept where the threads are torn Dispatcher final call: "Dispatch to badge 371 (silence). Dispatch to badge 371 (silence). Officer...thank you for your service. Your work here is done."
