Backstory:
Ron and I wrote this for the 2006 SongU Blind Date Challenge. It was fun and nice writing with him, because he fueled me with completely "out-of-the-box" ideas! [You may want to listen to this song half key below the recording.]
This song placed an Honorable Mention in the Song of the Year songwriting contest in October 2014!
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
I'm gonna make some noise
Down here on Music Row
When you hear my voice
I’m sure then you will know
That’s the way it’s gotta go, for me
Chorus:
It's a long way from Calcutta
To the Beat of Music Row
But East can meet the best of West, I know
Got Porter Wagg'ner's smile
And Dolly Parton's style
Tunin’ my sitar to an Ibanez guitar
I wanna be a country star
Oh I gotta be a country star
Verse 2:
I'm gonna sing some night
Where once Charlie Daniels sang
I’ll steal the spotlight
Shining the best I can
That's the way I see this thing, for me
Chorus: (same)
Bridge:
Got to be
Got to be
Got to be a country star
Chorus: (same)
Finale:
I gotta be a country star
