Backstory:
This is an observational tune that I've been thinking about for a while. I think it is universal in today's world so people could definitely relate to it.
Lyrics:
PLAYIN' WITH A PHONE
verse Livin' in this world of mass communicating
Sometimes gets me down
When I'm sitting somewhere with a crowd of people
I'll take a look around
Nobody talks with strangers any more
Nobody asks, "Where you from?"
Folks sit alone with those dumb smartphones
Making their brains go numb
chorus Everybody's PLAYIN' WITH A PHONE
They can't leave 'em alone
The world could disappear
With a bluetooth in their ear
And they would never even know
People use to talk face to face
But those Mayberry days are gone
Cause everybody's playin,
PLAYIN' WITH A PHONE
verse Just last night in a restaurant
I saw something pretty sad
Sitting at the table next to me
Was a little boy with his dad
They hardly spoke a single word
The kid might as well be alone
Their time together, gone forever
While his dad played with a phone
chorus Everybody's PLAYIN' WITH A PHONE
We can't leave 'em alone
The world could disappear
With a bluetooth in our ear
And we would never even know
People use to talk face to face
But those Mayberry days are gone
Cause everybody's playin,
PLAYIN' WITH A PHONE
bridge Sometimes what we call progress
Can have the opposite effect
We can talk today without talking
By just sending a text
chorus Everybody's PLAYIN' WITH A PHONE
I can't leave it alone
The world could disappear
With a bluetooth in my ear
And I would never even know
People use to talk face to face
But those Mayberry days are gone
Cause everybody's playin',
PLAYIN' WITH A PHONE
