Backstory:
This is meant to tell the story of an old soul who's tiring of being reincarnated and ready to be done with the cycle. It's meant to be comical.
I sung this a capella, so I'm sorry it's majorly out of tune and the melody may not be clear in some parts, but I had to sing quietly with all the sleeping people at my house!
I'm working on a bridge...wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I was thinking I should work on the old soul's perspective?
Also, not sure if I should include in the chorus about "getting paid," since, from an old soul perspective, the focus would not be on money anyway, but rather on enlightenment, so does bringing money into the song detract from the focus?
Open to any other suggestions. I will be working during this class time so I cannot attend, but really wanted some feedback.
Thanks!
Kathy
Lyrics:
NO MORE INCARNATIONS PLEASE
VERSE 1
Oh I've been Cleopatra
And I've fought the Japanese
Been a nomad starved to death in 21 degrees
And I've met Napoleon and sailed the seven seas
So no more incarnations please
Back in the middle ages,
I tortured many fleas
And as a peasant I learned how to make a soup with peas
I've combed the desert with my camel and my coteries
So no more incarnations please
CHORUS
When I was on the other side
My spirit guides they told me how I could evolve my soul
But now that I'm in life 4029
I'm kinda wondering how many more I've left to go
Will this cycle ever end
Or will I keep returning
Since it's obvious that I'm not learning
VERSE 2
Last life I sold used cars
Jaguars and Ferraris
I was trusted not to charge folks any extra fees
So karma sent me packing outback with nothing but my keys
So no more incarnations please
CHORUS
When I was on the other side
My spirit guides they told me how I could evolve my soul
But now that I'm in life 4029
I'm kinda wondering how many more I've left to go
Will this cycle ever end
Or will I keep returning
Since it's obvious that I'm not learning
VERSE 3
I know that I'm a soul
Who oughtta change some priorities
If enlightenment's ever meant to be more than a tease
I better show some appreciation
For each and every situation
And return to this civilization one more time on my knees
So one more incarnation
Maybe two, maybe threes (ha!)
Or many more, many more, oh heck, give me many more incarnations please!
