Verse 1:
The smoke alarm was wailin’, Jen woke up sweatin’ scared
Her first thought was her baby, but the flames were everywhere
She tried a window, painted shut, broke it with a chair
Made it out ‘n cried, “My little girl…”
Neighbors took off ‘round the back, never thinkin’ twice
Kicked in the door, grabbed the girl and ran with her outside
A kindly voice said, “You’ll be ok, you’ll stay with us tonight”
Jen held her daughter tight and thanked the Lord…

The neighbors liked that single mom and they knew she had no kin

Said, “I hope you like the color”, Jen stared in disbelief
