    Backstory:
The idea was sparked by a saying I kept over hearing a friend say: "why you got to be like that?" I had this song demo'd at Jays Place in Nashville on Music Row. The demo experience has been valuable to my education on the process and was worth the time and effort that was put into it.

    Lyrics:

Why you got to be like that? (Kirk) Verse: I come home from a hard day’s work and grab myself a beer No sooner are you in my face talking in my ear I’m not in the mood to listen to you now Need a little time to clear my head and settle down Chorus 1: Why you got to be like that? When you don’t like what I say You stomp your feet and pout your lips as you walk away Why you got to be like that? Go and act so damn cute Makes me want to spend the rest of my day making up to you Why - you got to be like that? Verse: I catch a corner of your grin and the Devil in your eye I smell the sweet scent of warm vanilla whenever you walk by I know you’re up to no good, you’re going to make me pay For treating you so cold and pushing you away Chorus 2: Why you got to be like that? When you whisper in my ear You tell me things you’re going to do, things I want to hear Why you got to be like that? When you strut across the floor You pretend to play hard to get, makes me want you more Why - you got to be like that? Bridge: I know you’re just trying to turn me on You’ve been teasing me all night long You know how to cure my blues And I’m a lucky man to find a girl like you Chorus 3: Why you got to be like that? When you keep me up all night Then the way you knock me down, wearing just a smile Why you got to be like that? When you go and make me see When I look in your eyes, you’re where I want to be Why - you got to be like that? © Kevan Kirk
