    Backstory:
Just a hope for the political divide in our country to stop. I woke up one more with this idea and some of the lyrics in my head.

    Lyrics:

HEALIING © Pat Kelley, BMI pk2@vermontel.net (Verse) We’re all stuck in our corners We’ve all picked a side Diggin' our trenches deeper and deeper In the great American divide (Verse) Lifelong friends walk past each other Eyes glued to their feet Scroll through each other’s social pages Get fired up bout what they read (Chorus) Red or blue won’t make a difference When they lay us in the ground Left or right, we’re all just dust When the final bell rings out It’s time we tear down the fences Do more listening, less screamin’ The olive branch starts with us It's time for healing Oh, healing (Verse) Kids repeat what they hear at home Causing black eyes at school Momma’s cryin’ in the kitchen at Thanksgiving And politics is the fuel…oh yeah (Repeat chorus) (Instrumental) (Bridge) We've turned words into weapons How bout we lay ‘em down Strip away the labels Yeah, find some common ground (Breakdown chorus) (Outro) We don’t have to agree on everything Let’s mend our wounds and start healing…ohh, ohh, healing..ohh yeah…healing
