Things left unsaid are often the causes of heartache in a relationship. I had been tossing the concept of this idea around for a few weeks when a friend of mine was suddenly killed in a car accident. I was wondering about how he and his wife had parted that morning, and whether he had said anything to make sure she knew he loved her. This gave me the push I needed to get the lyric down and start on the music.
I hear this as a 'guy' song (Brad Paisley, Josh Turner...) although I could picture Rascal Flatts or Lady A putting this together with some great harms.
I had to flip the traditional structure a bit to pull this off, but would love some input on whether the chorus is strong enough to carry it and/or whether the third verse is needed. It's at 4 minutes right now, so if it needs tightened up, wondering if that's what might hit the chopping block.
Thanks for your help!
