Forever Blessed

Lyrics
Forever Blessed
Vs 1
If the mountains fall in the sea
I won’t fear, I know my God’s protecting me
If the stars ever cease to shine
In the darkness, His Spirit will be my light
Through eternity, I will always be…

Chorus
Forever blessed. Forever kept. Forever sheltered
Here in His arms, I can’t be harmed
Nothing could be better,
Than knowing I’m His forever
I’m forever blessed

Vs 2
All around me is sinking sand
But His Word is the Rock upon which I stand
Earthly kingdoms may pass away
But the treasures of heaven will never fade
Oh what peace of mind, just to know that I’m…

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
In every trial that life may bring
Jesus my Savior will help me sing…

That Old Time Prayer Meeting

Plays: 36
Lyrics
That Old Time Prayer Meeting
Vs 1
We had to clap our hands when we heard that band, and that piano-man started to play
Upon those black and whites and it was pure delight, as the call rang out: “It’s time to pray.”
Then that choir began to sing “Sweet Beulah Land.”
With one voice we were all praising the Lord.
We lifted up our hands -- sang “Holy is the Lamb”
It felt like God had come through the door

Chorus
At that old time prayer meeting, we got down to business, doin’ business down on our knees
My Lord, what a feeling; we were singing, shouting, testifying, and God was pleased
At that old time prayer meeting

Vs 2
Not every soul was clean, but God intervened, and holy angels were camped all around
Then like a rushing wind, the Holy Ghost came in, and filled the house, O what a happy sound!
Then we heard a cry go up: “Forgive my sin.”
And another said, “Oh Lord, help me now.”
So we looked deep within, repenting once again
We knew that we were on holy ground

Chorus

Bridge
When the clock stood at six -- we’d figured out the devil’s tricks (lift)
When the chimes rang out eight – no one said, “It’s getting late” (lift)
When the hands reached eleven --- we were lifted up to heaven (lift)

Repeat Chorus

HIS FATHER'S NAME

Plays: 18
Lyrics
His Father’s Name

Vs 1
An angel came to Mary, and Joseph met him too
He told them that the promise would soon be coming true
That God would surely give them a holy child to raise
They’d called Him Jesus: born of God and full of grace

Chorus
He has His Father’s Name – the Name that saves us from our sins
Prince of Peace; mighty God, He is the way
Each year at Christmas, we’re reminded once again
The Son of God came down to us, and He has His Father’s Name

Vs 2
The world was bound in darkness, when angels were sent down
To visit humble shepherds, nearby the little town
Peace on the earth and good will; God’s messengers proclaimed
They found the baby, in a manger where He laid

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
For God so loved the world, is why He came
Jehovah, our salvation is His name

Repeat Chorus (last two lines)

JESUS STOOD STILL

Plays: 19
Backstory
This has a rewritten 2nd verse and ending.
Lyrics
JESUS STOOD STILL
Vs 1
Jesus walked along, down that dusty road, as He went out to Jericho
''Round the Lord, the crowd swirled like a tempest-tossed, ahead lay suffering and the cross
Bartimaeus sat by the road that day -- he was blind when Jesus passed his way
Then he cried, "Son of David, please have mercy on me."

Chorus
Then Jesus stood still. Jesus stood still
The King who came to earth a sacrifice for sin
Stopped where he was and cared for him
God wants to remind us: His love was revealed, when Jesus stood still

Vs 2
Just like Bartimaeus I was in the dark, nothing to guide me but my heart
I followed as it led me down a broken road, ‘till there was no place left to go
One day the world became too much for me, that’s when I fell down on my knees
And I said, “Holy Spirit, please do for me what you did”

Repeat Chorus (change “Then” to “When” at the beginning)

End
The moment I surrendered to the Father’s will, Jesus stood still

A Path I've Never Walked Before

Plays: 10
Lyrics
A Path I’ve Never Walked Before
Vs 1
A path I’ve never walked before is just ahead
And I’ll admit that I’m not sure of where I’m being led
But if I stumble or fall my Lord will hear me when I call
He knows what’s in store on a path I’ve never walked before
Chorus
Bright hopes, new dreams, and treasures that won’t fade
Angels are guiding me to new horizons everyday
Through on open door to a path I’ve never walked before
Vs 2
In valleys or where mountains rise I’ll walk faith
And if I face the raging tide He’ll build a bridge of grace
At every bend in the road His love will lighten my load
He knows what’s in store on a path I’ve never walked before
Chorus
Bridge
He’ll give living water to wash me and keep my soul clean
Each move that I make, and step that I take, His Word is a lamp for my feet

YOUR MIRACLE

Plays: 13
Lyrics
Your Miracle
Vs 1
The miracle that you’ve been waiting for
Is coming into sight, that gift will soon be yours
His Word is true, so claim your blessing now by faith
Reach out and take God’s hand -- and rest in His embrace

Just plant your faith deep in His Word – believe and know your prayer is heard
And very soon now you will find your victory will come just in time
For God is counting every move you make, and every step you take
Will bring your miracle; your miracle to you

Don’t think of giving up, and don’t give in to fear
All heaven moved, the moment that your heart believed
And angels were dispatched, to bring you sweet relief

THE PALMS OF HIS HANDS

Plays: 7
Lyrics
The Palms of His Hands
(Isaiah 49:16)
Vs 1
Sometimes I don't pray like I know that I should
My thoughts flow like drifting sand
But God won't forget me, no He never could
Because my name's written in the palms of His hands
Chorus
Jesus recorded my name long ago
He knew me before time began
When He calls the roll to assemble His own.
He’ll see my name written in the palms --- of His hands
Vs 2
So I'd know that He chose me, He wrote me a letter
And sent it from sweet Beulah land
He said in plain language He'd love me forever
And proved it when nails pierced the palms of His hands
Chorus
End
Wherever I go, I'm never alone
As long as eternity lasts -- While the unending ages roll past
My name will be written in the palms --- of His hands
The palms ---- of His hands

Heroes End

Plays: 4
Backstory
Written mainly for WWII Vets, but applicable to all who have served.
Lyrics
Hero’s End
Vs 1
They gave all ---- to keep us free
Blood sweat and tears for liberty
Their watchwords were: “Protect – Defend.”
In war and peace ---- these brave were sent
Chorus
They’re not the kind to brag and boast about their deeds
And they have earned the right to live with dignity,
Until they go where comrades wait around the bend
In the fading mist ---- at hero’s end
Vs 2
In desert heat ---- where waters chill
Above the clouds, on shell-scared hills
Old glory waved for all to see
The Stars and Stripes of liberty
Bridge
Just average Joes and Janes who stood for freedom’s truth
From every race – all Red, White and Blue
Americans through thick and thin
Heroes deserve a hero’s end
Repeat Chorus
End
They’ll all fall in as in those days of old,
And answer “here” when their names are called from heaven’s roll
Standing --- at ease with hero friends
In the fading mist ---- at hero’s end

My Teen Age Girl With Auburn Hair

Plays: 1283
Backstory
I wrote this as a surprise Christmas present with a slideshow, for my wife, Carolyn -- My Teenage Girl With Auburn Hair
Lyrics
Teenage Girl With Auburn Hair
Vs 1
There was once a teenage girl, with strands of gold spun in her auburn hair
Beautiful of face and form, and to my mind there was none that compared
She stole my heart -- my mind did always dwell
On that teenage girl with auburn hair

Vs 2
I knew I loved that lovely girl, with blue-green eyes and lips as soft as silk
Kisses sweet as summer wine, when I was near to her my heart did melt
To me there was no other girl as fair
As that teenage girl with auburn hair

Chorus
My first and only love, sent down from God above
The one I always dreamed of
Wherever I may go, I will always know
There never was a girl so fine, so loving and so kind
As my teenage girl with auburn hair

Vs 3
My thoughts return to that first night; the look of love was in that fleeting glance
Hearts on fire the flame did burn; I knew that just one touch would bring romance
There was no trial of life I would not dare
If I could have that girl with auburn hair

Vs 4
The years have passed, that teenaged girl, is not as young now as she was before
Yet passing time has only shown, so very much in her to be adored
Finer than gold or jewels thought to be rare
Is my teenage girl with auburn hair

2nd Chorus (same as first chorus except for first line)
She is my only love, sent down from God above …

End
We went to the altar ……now I can never fault her ………and I will always call her …………
My teenage girl, so young, so fine -- I'm so glad she's mine
My teenage girl with auburn hair

The Love of God

Plays: 1
Backstory
One day, I kept hearing these lyrics in my head to the tune of Danny Boy.
Lyrics
The Love of God

Vs 1
The love of God is like a healing river
A holy stream that sets the captive free
Its billows flow to baptize and deliver
Its waters wash the vilest sinner clean

Chorus
The love of God came down to dwell on earth
Tempted and tried, and yet, He did not sin
He died and rose again to break sin's curse
The God who loved the world is coming back again

Vs 2
The love of God will never pass away
Though flowers die, or stars fall from the sky
Eternally, His love will still remain
From age to age, His love will ever abide

Repeat Chorus

Plays: 1
Lyrics
I’ll Never Quit (Loving Him)

Vs 1

Praising Him forever, He's making me fit,
For the glory that waits up above
Until then, I will pray His kingdom comes
And I'll never quit loving Him – loving Him

And Jesus loves me more than I can ever know
The grace that saved will keep me ‘till the very end
His loving arms are holding me, and will not let me go
So, I'll never quit loving Him

When times are bad, I will trust Him, that’s when I need Him more
In my days of darkness than ever before

YOU COULD'A BEEN A MOVIE STAR DUET

Plays: 3
Backstory
I always told my wife she could have been a Movie Star instead of marrying me and I would write a song about that one day. I finally got the chance to write it with Jerry and Randy.
Lyrics
You Could’a Been a Movie Star (Duet)
Vs 1
They fell in love in High School, in their Senior Year, the football star and the Homecoming Queen
After graduation she headed to L.A., while Uncle Sam sent him on his first trip overseas
They had different plans and different dreams
Vs 2
As fate would have it, she got signed and landed her first role, the same week he was shot and paralyzed
When she got the call, she was determined she would be, the first thing he would see there when he opened up his eyes
And he told her when he saw her by his side
Chorus
You could’a been a movie star. Girl you could’a had it all.
Ride around in a chauffeured car, Hollywood’s first call
Everyone would know your name, an All-American sweetheart
I can’t believe you chose me to play this part, but here you are
You could’a been a movie star
Vs 3
She gave up fame and fortune, and never did look back, leavin’ Tinsel Town with few regrets.
And when he wheeled into the church with all the strength he had, she cried when he stood up to meet her in her long, white dress
She said, “I do,” and then he said
Repeat Chorus

The Land of the Living

Plays: 4
Lyrics
The Land of the Living
Vs 1
Some call this the land of the living, but a life full of years is still brief.
Our loved ones leave us so lonely. Death’s parting brings pain, tears, and grief
But one day we’ll leave this world behind, for the place where there’s no need for prayer
The land of the living is Heaven – no tears will be shed over there
Chorus
When we behold our Lord and King, we’ll say, “Oh death where is your sting?”
Then we’ll ascend those golden stairs,” in that city built foursquare
In the land of the living called heaven, for death cannot enter there
Vs 2
We struggle and fight against evil. This world is fallen in sin
The devil torments the believer though he knows that he cannot win
King Jesus will come to take us home. He’ll bring us white robes to wear
In the land of the living called heaven, no place on this earth can compare
Vs 3
While walking on streets that are golden, we'll meet those who went on before
The saints of the ages all singing, that Christ is the way, He's the door
Bright angels will come to hear our song --- as line upon line we declare:
The land of the living is heaven – the home that our Lord has prepared
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
That city so fair, there on high
Its citizens never die
Repeat Chorus

That Bluegrass Gospel Song on the Radio

Plays: 3
Lyrics
Bluegrass Gospel Song On the Radio
Vs 1
Goin’ down a lonely road, with no destination
Searching high and low, tryin’ ta find true salvation
Then I was touched by love divine through sweet melody and rhyme
When I heard that Bluegrass band on the radio
Chorus
They were singin’ about a Savior, who died and rose to set us free
Who didn’t come for all the righteous, but for sinners just like me
They sang about a city where the streets are paved with gold
I heard it all in a bluegrass gospel song on the radio
Vs 2
As the music took me higher, the Holy Ghost was speaking
Giving me a new desire, to be where the Lord was leading
Then He took away all doubt, as that harmony rang out
When I heard that Bluegrass band on the radio
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
It seemed like heaven opened and Gabriel led an angel choir
And that Bluegrass band joined them as their souls were set on fire

HAPPY IN THE VALLEY

Plays: 2
Lyrics
HAPPY IN THE VALLEY
Vs 1
The Lord sent me from a mountain to a valley so deep
But Jesus was my keeper. He said He’d never leave
Felt the joy of the Spirit as I walked along that dark way
I got so happy in the valley, I stayed all day

Chorus
Stayed all day; I watched and I prayed
The Lord walked with me, and I was not afraid
He took all my fears, and filled me with faith
Drank from God’s fountain in the valley.
I sang and shouted in the valley.
Learned not to doubt Him in the valley.
I got so happy in the valley I stayed all day

Vs 2
With the mountain behind me, and the valley before
I saw the devil comin'; like a lion he did roar
But the Lord told me clearly, if I'd trust Him and obey,
I’d get so happy in the valley I'd stay all day.

Chorus

Bridge
When down in the valley of death
My spirit was tried I was put to the test
But the Lord, He provided a way of escape

BREAKABLE

Plays: 6
Backstory
This song started out as a lyric by Alan Alley and read at our NSAI Portsmouth, OH/Ashland, KY Regional Workshop. It had some killer lines, and when no one else took Alan up on co-writing, I did.
Lyrics
BREAKABLE

Vs 1
I’m not Superman. I’m not made of steel
And when my heart gets broke I need time to heal
Can’t leap a building with a single bound
My feet are planted firmly on the ground
It’s inescapable, I’m breakable

Chorus
You think I’m tough, you say I’m hard
But when it comes to you, I let down my guard
If kryptonite could hurt me, then I’d be through
Cause baby, my kryptonite is you
It’s unmistakable, I’m breakable

Vs 2
Can’t stop a speeding train, that train would win
And I can only fly, in planes that I’m in
Can’t change the course of a waterfall
Can’t outrun speeding bullets after all
It’s inescapable, I’m breakable

Repeat Chorus

End
I’ll gladly admit, that this cape don’t fit.
Girl by now you should understand.
It’s unmistakable, I’m not Superman, I’m breakable

FIFTY YEARS

Plays: 5
Backstory
I wrote this for my wife, Carolyn, and it started out as "After All These Years." When it was pointed out to me that there was already a huge hit with that title, it was suggested to me by a very successful writer that I call it simply, "Fifty Years."
Lyrics
Fifty Years
Vs 1
You ask: if after fifty years, will I be lovin’ you?
And will you ---- be as dear to me ---- as when our love was new?
Let me settle all your doubts, and kiss away your tears
‘Cause you will ---- be my darling for ---- ---- much more than Fifty years

Chorus
Fifty years and more won’t change the way I feel
Our love will shine like gold ---- showing the world its real
I want to say very plain, so you’ll be sure to hear
You will ---- be my darling for ---- ---- much more than fifty years

Vs 2
Your loving arms have sheltered me when storms of life arose
And since the day we said “I Do” my heart’s been yours alone
But I still long to hear you say, the promise you’ve made clear
That, I will ---- be your darling for ---- ---- much more than fifty years

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
I know that we may kiss for a final time
But I’ll still be lovin’ you ---- when this world’s left behind
Ending
I’ll meet you in a better land, and say for all to hear
That you will ---- be my darling for ---- ---- much more than fifty years

GROWIN' UP

Plays: 2
Lyrics
Growin’ Up
Vs 1
Once upon a summertime, a young girl stole this heart of mine
She promised me that she would never break it
By the time September came, I knew I’d love her all my days
Oh, were young; and so in love, and growin’ up

Vs 2
Then, later on, we tied the knot, and had some kids we loved a lot
They changed our world and filled our hearts with gladness
Then came the time when they left home, to try and make it on their own
Oh it was hard, but it was part of growin’ up

Chorus
Some said we went too fast, that it wouldn’t last
But faith and prayer helped get us through when we weren’t sure what to do, When times were tough we had each other, growin’ up

Vs 3
There’s nights we sit out on the swing, and cry and laugh remembering
The little things that made us sad and happy
I touch her hair then we hold hands, and travel back in time again
When we were young and so in love, and growin’ up

2nd Chorus
Though years have come and gone, we’re still goin’ strong
The girl who stole my heart away has kept it safely every day
Two friends in love and still together growin’ up

End
It wasn’t all that long ago, at least to me it don’t seem so
That we were young, and so in love, and growin’ up

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Heroes Are Home Grown
Vs 1
There was a kid, a bagger at the grocery
He used to cut my grass when he was just thirteen
A little girl sold her cookies in the neighborhood
We knew the money for the scouts would do folks good
Now she’s wearin’ Army Green, and that kid’s joinin’ the Marines
Everybody knows …

Each and everyone our very own
Neighbors like family, reachin’ out a hand to you and me
Everywhere you go…Heroes are homegrown

Vs 2
The boy who had a paper route in High School
Made his parents proud; he always kept the rules
The girl who sang a solo in the church choir
Would make the coldest heart feel God's fire
Now she’s a teacher changin’ lives; he’s been a cop since last July
Everybody knows…

2nd Chorus

Protectin’ city streets, stayin’ on the job for you and me

HOMELESS IN THE HOME OF THE BRAVE

Plays: 9
Lyrics
Homeless in the Home of the Brave

VS 1
It was a hot Independence Day
The whole town had turned out to watch the parade
Families and friends celebrating all the reasons we are free
That’s when I saw him, his sign read: Homeless Vet will you please help me

Chorus
Maybe in Afghanistan, in Iraq or Vietnam he fought even though he was afraid
But his hero’s heart began to doubt when he couldn’t block those mem’ries out
Of all the ones he just couldn’t save
He’s the reason we’re free today, but he’s homeless in the home of the brave

VS 2
We stood up as the flag went by
He stood at attention as tears filled his eyes
Kept thinking of him and my freedom as I headed on back home
He’d spend the night out on the street, scenes from his past still haunting his soul

Repeat Chorus

Sometimes we take our freedom for granted

THE AMERICAN FARM

Plays: 18
Lyrics
The American Farm
Vs 1
Up and ready to go when the sun comes out. He''s got acres of good dirt to plant and plow
He remembers to stop and pray, that the Good Lord will bless his day
What he does for us all is incredible, but to him he''s just doin'' what’s natural
While we work for our daily bread, he''s the one makin'' sure we''re fed…

Chorus
God bless the farmer with sunshine and rain
So he can keep on growin’ all those amber waves of grain
And give him a shelter; protect him from the storm
This is our song for the American farm

Vs 2
You won''t hear him complain like so many do ''bout the troubles that he may be goin'' through
He provides for his family; ‘n gives a little to charity
When a neighbor is down he’s a friend indeed, always ready to help, rollin’ up his sleeves
There’s a reason he can''t say no, ‘cause the Good Book it tells him so…

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
Even when hope seems gone, he’s holdin’ on, to the land that he loves

Repeat Chorus

TILL I'M HOLDING YOU AGAIN

Plays: 7
Backstory
This started out as my solo song, "I'll Be Lonely." I had it critiqued at our NSAI Portsmouth, OH/Ashland, KY Regional Songwriters Workshop. My co-coordinator, John Roe, became my co-writer as a result. He made some (as usual) insightful suggestions on the chorus and a couple of other lines, and a title change, and voila! Here it is!
Lyrics
‘Till I’m Holding You Again
Vs 1
When we touch, it leaves a mem’ry that’s not easy to forget
Like July fireworks just too hot to hold
I’ve crossed over my old bridges, burned them down the day we met
Just the thought of other lovers leaves me cold

Chorus
I’ll be lonely ‘till I see you, and my world won’t be right
I can’t wait until you’re in my arms tonight
And this longing just won’t leave me. Seems this day will never end
I’ll be lonely ‘till I’m holding you again

Vs 2
Every minute’s like an hour; every step is sinking sand
When we’re apart I’m dyin’ by degrees
So please hurry to my rescue, lift me up, and help me stand
Just one kiss from your sweet lips will steady me

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
Through the good years, and the lean times, your love has been what’s right
All my troubles fall behind me when you come into sight

Chorus (Last two lines)

WHEN GOD CALLED OUT TO ME

Plays: 0
Backstory
I'm a lifetime musician (rock drummer - go figure?) who didn't get saved till I was 30 years old, but God didn't decide to make me a songwriter until I was 53 years old. I wish He'd done it a little earlier, but He knows best. God also called me to preach and I've been a bi-vocational preacher for 40-plus years. I bless the day that God called out to me, and I've witnessed the scene portrayed in this song many times over the years. My good buddy Kaleb Wright contributed most of the melody.
Lyrics
WHEN GOD CALLED OUT TO ME

VS 1
I LISTENED TO THAT PREACHER MAN, AS HE LAID OUT THE HOLY PLAN
AND EVERY WORD HE SPOKE, WENT TO MY HEART
OF SODOM'S FIRE AND NOAH'S FLOOD -- OF GOD'S FREE GRACE AND JESUS' BLOOD
I FELT THE CHAINS OF SIN BEGIN TO PART

CHORUS
MY EYES WERE OPENED. IT FELT GOOD JUST KNOWIN’
THAT GRACE LED ME TO CALVARY
ANGELS WERE SINGIN’, AN’ JOY BELLS WERE RINGING
THAT BLESSED DAY WHEN GOD CALLED OUT TO ME

VS 2
THE WORD OF GOD BECAME SO SWEET I COULDN’T SIT STILL IN MY SEAT
NEXT THING I KNEW I WALKED RIGHT DOWN THE AISLE
THE SPIRIT TAUGHT ME HOW TO PRAY AND THEN I FOUND THE HOLY WAY
WHEN I LOOKED UP IT WAS JUST LIKE JESUS SMILED

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
WHEN I GOT UP THERE WAS NO DOUBT – THE SAINTS OF GOD HAD BEGUN TO SHOUT
THEN I JOINED THEM IN HEAVEN'S JUBILEE
I ONCE WAS LOST BUT I’D BEEN FOUND. MY FEET WERE SET ON HOLY GROUND
GOD’S GRACE HAD BROUGHT TO ME THE VICTORY

REPEAT CHORUS

Calling the Lonely and Lost

Plays: 0
Backstory
I became our agency's representative to our local anti-sex trafficking organization, Appalachian Voices Unite. At the first meeting, my eyes were opened to the scourge of human trafficking, when a woman recently delivered from sex trafficking spoke. I knew there needed to be a song that would raise awareness about this terrible problem. Then, the movie, Sound of Freedom, came out and validated my opinion.
Lyrics
Calling the Lonely and Lost
Vs 1
Another day, another dollar ---- she is sent out to work the street.
Doesn’t matter what you call her ---- she goes with any man she meets.
Though back in school she was a scholar ---- she barely has enough to eat.
Vs 2
She spends most every night despairing, over the living hell she’s in
Questions if she can keep bearing, the shame and grief that never ends.
Or if her life is worth repairing; is there forgiveness for her sins?
Chorus
Calling the lonely and lost ---- those from whom peace has departed.
The ones with broken dreams -- failed plans and schemes,
Who the world has discarded.
There's no need to fear, grace has appeared.
Jesus has paid the cost, and there’s good news today,
Because He’s calling the lonely and lost
Vs 3
Now she is finally on the right track ---- her life is slowly on the mend.
She and her family can be found at ---- that little church where they attend.
And is determined not to look back ---- now that she’s where new life begins.
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
When they reach the end of their rope
People need to know there is hope.
Chorus

How You Look at It

Plays: 0
Backstory
It came out of an NSAI Workshop collaboration
Lyrics
How You Look At It

Vs 1
My friend pulled up in his new ride. It was primered grey; wrecked down the side
The hubcaps were gone, front bumper just hangin’ on
That car looked rough, I said he’d never fix ‘er up
We made a ten-dollar bet, and we shook hands as he said…
Chorus
It’s all in how you look at it, and what you set your mind to do
Gotta’ see the glass half-full; it all depends on your point of view
When you don’t think you have a lot, thank the good Lord for what you’ve got
Don’t mind what people say. Don’t ever quit
‘Cause it’s all in how you look at it
Vs 2
His hard work made it look brand new. That hunk a’ rust, was a dream come true
Should a’ seen his face at the show, when it won first place
My money was lost ‘cause he could see what I could not
I paid off our bet, then he smiled at me as he said…
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
Two-car crash on the Interstate was the scene on the evening news
Grabbed my keys and headed out; found my way to his room.
Odds were he’d not walk again. It was a wonder he’d survived
Then he took my hand. We said a prayer. And he reminded me, one more time
Repeat Chorus

God Will Wipe Those Teardrops From Your Eyes

Plays: 0
Lyrics
God Will Wipe Those Teardrops From Your Eyes
Vs 1
You made a mistake; you can't deny it
And you found out it's hard to live a lie
All alone, in the night, you've been cryin'
Since the day you walked away from Jesus Christ
Chorus
You can return to the arms of your first love
He's been waitin' since you said goodbye
Angels will come down from up above
And God will wipe those teardrops from your eyes
Vs 2
You only pretend that you are happy
And everything looks good to those outside
No one hears your heart cry when you're laughing
Or sees the sorrow that you’ve buried deep inside
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
No matter what you do, Jesus won’t stop loving you
It's time to make things right, since God showed you the light,
Repeat Chorus

Coming Home

Plays: 0
Backstory
I was challenged by a Pro Writer at NSAI to write a song about a Prodigal without using the word "Prodigal."
Lyrics
Comin’ Home
Vs 1
Heaven knows where he’d wandered, from freedom to regret
But mem’ries from his childhood brought him where the Lord and him first met
Then a light in a window from the church where he was raised
Began to shine to help him find the path from which he’d strayed
Pre-Chorus 1
Life had built him up to tear him down
But when he saw that open door, his tremblin’ voice cried out
Chorus
Lord, I’m tired, so sad, and all alone
Not proud of what I’ve done, but I’ve reaped just what I’ve sown
Layin’ down my heavy load; gettin’ off this broken road
Lord --- I’m comin’ home
Vs 2
He’d been wonderin’ for a long time if the Lord‘d take him back
Since his dreams of greener pastures had faded into black
When that choir started singin’ -- “Just as I Am.”
It took his mind to better times, and the peace he’d once had
Pre-Chorus 2
Knelt down in that back pew and bowed his head
Hadn’t prayed in years; through bitter tears, he said:
