    Backstory:
As always Sam came in to our write with a melody. I had this hook-ish idea of Blame it on something or other and this is what we came up with.

    Lyrics:

Blame It On the Midnight John Cirillo (ASCAP)/Sam Gyllenhaal (BMI)/Nicole Lewis (ASCAP) It ain't like you're perfect for me Those forever eyes They don’t make me Wanna spend all night just lookin at ya Don’t go thinkin that you’re on my mind A sweet daydream All the time It ain’t like I can’t live without ya It ain’t your last call kiss Or your fingertips making my heart beat Ain’t your slow dance spinnin like a summer wind Drivin me crazy With that smile so California It ain’t like I’m fallin for ya Nothin to do with the way you move in the moonlight Blame it on the midnight Round I go gettin lost in the dark Tequila shots Straight to my heart It aint my fault if I get a little too poetic Just because you’re leavin lipstick tattoos All over me And I can’t breathe Don’t mean I’m in starlit high heel heaven, forget it Chorus Bridge: Move in closer Night ain’t over And I can’t help it No I can’t help it (Cuz) It’s your last call kiss And your fingertips making my heart beat It’s your slow dance spinnin like a summer wind Drivin me crazy With that smile so California We both know I’m fallin for ya It’s got everything to do with the way you move in the moonlight Blame it on the midnight © 2019 john.cirillo@gmail.com/831.359.0161
