Backstory:
Adam had the hook, I hope there's a bar in heaven and he and I wrote the lyric. Once we were done we shipped it off to Chip to put a melody to it. It was important for us to walk that line between lighthearted fun and a good message.
Lyrics:
A Bar In Heaven
John Cirillo (ASCAP)/Adam Byrd/Chip Martin (BMI)
I hope there’s a bar in heaven
With St Peter settin em up
I can tell him all my troubles
While he’s pouring me the good stuff
It’ll be just like down here on earth
Where everyone’s a friend of mine
Yeah, I hope there’s a bar in heaven
With an “always open” sign
These bar stools are on their last leg
I think the bartender might be too
But it’s where I feel most at home
When home just won’t do
These friends here are like family
Shared more stories than I can count
Yeah, This place ain’t much but memories
But ain’t that what life’s all about
And when my time runs out
Chorus
There’ll be a sweet ol’ jukebox
With all my favorite country songs
And Hank and Haggard and Johnny and June
Will be singing right along
And everyone I’m missing now
Will be there raising up a glass
And we’ll toast to all the ones we love
Together again at last
