    Backstory:
The song covers most of the Seven Sorrows of Mary

    Lyrics:

An angel at sunrise laid out God's plan: Said, "You'll mother the Savior yet never know man." She said, "Let it happen; I'm going the distance for Him" An old prophet's warning shatters her tender delight. He said, "God will select Him; His own will reject Him; Your soul shall be pierced in the night." She hears the crowd's whispers; each curse and each slur. They're jeering at Him, and they're laughing at her. Her soul's pierced with sorrow, but She's going the distance with Him. The government dooms Him; not guilty, He still has to die. She hears the mob's ev'ry word, like nails on a blackboard; They howl for His life: Crucify! She feels the ring of the hammer; she's splashed with the mud. At the cross where she stands she smells urine and blood. Her heart breaks in anguish, but She's going the distance with Him. Now it's all over; He falls from her arms to the grave. She walks with the Beloved; they're both grieving of it; How could it all end this way? She hears a strange rumor, as the sun starts to rise: The grave is found empty; has He come back alive? Like wind off a mountain, she's running the disnce to Him. She's running....she's running....
