Backstory:
This song started out as a lyric by Alan Alley and read at our NSAI Portsmouth, OH/Ashland, KY Regional Workshop. It had some killer lines, and when no one else took Alan up on co-writing, I did.
Lyrics:
BREAKABLE
Vs 1
I’m not superman, I’m not made of steel
And when my heart gets broke, I need time to heal
Can’t leap a building with a single bound
My feet are planted firmly on the ground
It’s inescapable, I’m breakable
Chorus
You think I’m tough, you say I’m hard
But when it comes to you, I let down my guard
If kryptonite could hurt me, then I’d be through
Cause baby, my kryptonite is you
It’s unmistakable, I’m breakable
Vs 2
Can’t stop a speeding train, that train would win
And I can only fly, in planes that I’m in
Can’t change the course of a waterfall
Can’t outrun speeding bullets after all
It’s inescapable, I’m breakable
Repeat Chorus
End
I’ll gladly admit, that this cape don’t fit
Girl by now you should understand
It’s unmistakable, I’m not superman, I’m breakable
