    Backstory:
I love events. Thus, that was the framework for the song. Also, I wanted to do a song outside my typical genre of country. I always liked the pop rock of the 70's and 80's groowing up. Acts like Loverboy, Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Bob Seger, etc...

Joergen picked up the vibe really well. When he came back to me, I liked what he came up with for the melody right in that instant. We worked to economize and craft the song.

    Lyrics:

(Intro) What is it for you: (Verse One) Goin’to the mall, the Mardi Gras Billy’s birthday, Superbowl Sunday The academy awards, the final four Dinner and a movie, the World Series (Chorus) It might be big It might be small It might be local It might be national But everyone loves an event It makes us feel alive After we’ve been spent A break from the routine A different scene Everyone loves an event (Verse Two) A Thanksgiving feast, New years eve College spring break, Nascars next race Tiger sinkin’ one more putt, The World Cup The Kentucky Derby, a neighborhood block party (Repeat Chorus) (Bridge) Our lives began in one great moment A celebration so magnificent Maybe that’s why Everyone Loves an Event (Chorus) It might be big It might be small It might be local It might be national But everyone loves an event It makes us feel alive After we’ve been spent A break from the routine A different scene Everyone loves an event Copyright 2007 Dan Robinson.
