    Backstory:
My daughter wanted to send my wife's grandma a balloon when she passed away. She was very young at the time.

It was one of those moments I had to capture. My daughter saw some cards and ballons that had been sent to the funeral home.

She then asked if she could send a balloon to grandma up in Heaven. I put this moment in the bridge of the song.

That provided me the inspiration for the song.

    Lyrics:

Let it Go (Grandma’s Balloon) (Verse One) My grandma was so good to me growing up On my birthdays she made me feel like such a special kid She would bring me purses, jewelry and other cool girl stuff But there was one more thing she always did She brought me a red balloon A card would come with it that said: (Chorus) Take the balloon, aim it to the sky Make a wish, close your eyes And reach real high The Heavens will take note And give your dream life When you’re ready, let it go (Verse Two) When the time for high school graduation came Grandma was not feelin’ well and mom said she couldn’t be there But I saw her stand up all proud when they called out my name And when I came off the podium and down the stairs She handed me a red balloon A card came with it that said (Chorus) Take the balloon, aim it to the sky Make a wish, close your eyes And reach real high The Heavens will take note And give your dream life When you’re ready, let it go (Bridge) Two days after this angel of a woman passed on My four year old wrote a message in crayon Taped it to Grandma’s Red Balloon and then Asked if she could send it up to Heaven I said: (Final Chorus) Take the balloon, aim it to the sky Make a wish, close your eyes And reach real high Grandma will take note And know you said goodbye When you’re ready, let it go Copyright 2008 Dan Robinson and Krystle Blue.
