About

My Dad always said I was dumb to pursue songwriting and I should give it up. Whether he was right or not, I still sometimes question:) However, what he didn't understand was it wasn't something I could just give up. Writing songs is just what I do. I eat, drink, breath and sleep songwriting. Whether I'm listening intently to everything being said to discover a new hook or noodling around on the guitar, piano or some other instrument trying to find a melodic hook, I'm constantly fishing for a unique or fresh idea. I love writing songs (lyrics and/or Melody). Doesn't matter what genre but I mostly write in the Country, Americana, Christian, singer/songwriter, Bluegrass and Rock genres.

THIS FEELS GOOD

Plays: 684
Lyrics
"This Feels Good"

My friends all said the band was great
I don’t recall a single note they played
I was so caught up in your smile
I haven’t felt this way in a long long while
Man, this feels good

CHORUS
Like driving down the road catching all the green lights
Or rocking on the porch on a beautiful night
Like jumping in the lake on a hot summer day
Or going to the park for a baseball game
Like sitting on the beach with a drink in hand
And running your toes through the sand
Every thing’s going just like it should
Man, this feels good

We ended up talking all night
Had our first kiss by your back porch light
Didn’t want that moment to end
But I know something great’s about to begin
Man this feels good

CHORUS
Like driving down the road catching all the green lights
Or rocking on the porch on a beautiful night
Like jumping in the lake on a hot summer day
Or going to the park for a baseball game
Like sitting on the beach with a drink in hand
And running your toes through the sand
Every thing’s going just like it should
Man, this feels good

I want this feeling to go on forever, just keeps getting better and better

CHORUS
Like driving down the road catching all the green lights
Or rocking on the porch on a beautiful night
Like jumping in the lake on a hot summer day
Or going to the park for a baseball game
Like finding money on the side of the road
Your favorite song on the radio
Every thing’s going just like it should
Man, this feels good

FIRST

Lyrics
FIRST

She moved in down the street, September sophomore year
And I suddenly lost interest in my football career
We'd lay out in the wheat fields as the silver full moon rose up
I can still taste cherry lip gloss, and I will until I'm toes up,
Tallkin' bout...

Chorus
First crush - first kiss - first swing - first miss
First time comin' home with beer on your breath
With your dad waitin' up on the front porch steps
First job - first car - first tears from a broken heart
The ones you can't forget for better or worse
Nothin' lasts like the first

I worked weekends for "The Colonel" 'til I saved enough to buy
A beat up two-tone Silverado, It burned oil but it sure could fly
We spent so much time in that old truck we shoulda had a mailbox attached,
It was dashboard drummin' in the cab up front, and love lessons in the back,
I'm talkin' bout..

Chorus

That Silverado's up on blocks and football's just a game I watch
But when I'm reminiscing memories distant and sweet
My mind rewinds to sophomore year, and a girl just down the street..

Chorus
First crush - first kiss - first swing - first miss
First time with your dad on the front porch steps
Kickin' back with a couple of cold long necks
First job - first car - first tears from a broken heart
The ones you can't forget for better or worse
Nothin' lasts like....

The first time getting down on one knee
With just a prayer and a little piece of jewelry
First time y'saw her dressed in white
First baby cryin' keepin' you awake all night
Fist that - first this
First swing - first miss
First crush - first kiss
Nothin' lasts like the first

THIS OLD T-SHIRT

Plays: 8
Lyrics
This Old T-Shirt

It’s a little ripped around the sleeves,
Faded from summers down at the beach
Bought it at a George Strait show in the stadium parking lot
Good times soaked in every stitch
Older it gets the better it fits
When you wore it to bed I’d wanna take it off

Chorus
If This Old T-Shirt Could Talk...
It’d tell you ‘bout the night we met,
How pretty you looked in your summer dress
4th of July Fireworks in your eyes
It’d tell you ‘bout every single date
How we finally kissed by your front gate
Underneath that full moon southern sky
It would remind us of all the memories we’ve got
If This Ol’ T Shirt Could Talk

Now I only wear it once in a while,
But puttin’ it on still makes me smile
Late night bonfire parties come flashing back
You’ve been telling me its got to go
Seen better days, its full of holes
But I can’t just throw away part of our past

Chorus
If This Old T-Shirt Could Talk...
It’d tell you ‘bout the night we met,
How pretty you looked in your summer dress
4th of July Fireworks in your eyes
It’d tell you ‘bout every single date
Like skinny dippin in that mountain Lake
Underneath that full moon southern sky
It would remind us of all the memories we’ve got
If This Ol’ T Shirt Could Talk

I love every moment we’ve had together
It takes me back, to everything I treasure

Chorus
If This Old T-Shirt Could Talk...
It’d tell you ‘bout the night we met,
How pretty you looked in your summer dress
4th of July Fireworks in your eyes
It’d tell you ‘bout every single date
When I hid that ring in your birthday cake...
Tears of joy welling up in your eyes
It would remind us of all the memories we’ve got
If This Ol’ T Shirt Could Talk

Nuthin Outta somethin

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Nothing out of that Something

I Don’t think the front door’s gonna recover
From your I had a bad day slam
The cat’s still hiding out under the couch
I found your keys in the spider plant
Whatever it is that’s been botherin’ you
I’ll have it going going gone before the night is through

I’ll make nuthin outta that somethin
Make it disappear Talladega quick
I”ll get you relaxin, toes in the white sand
Key West of what you’re dealing with
I’ll rub today off your shoulder
Let my lovin take over
So move a little closer to me
And I’ll make nuthin outta that somethin

So lose those high heels, I’ll call in your fav’rite
Number twelve from the Shanghai House
I’ll cut the foil off that bottle of red
While you drop some buttons on your blouse
We can start the unwindin’ a cuddle up night
With a little Buble’ and kissin’ candle light

Chorus

I’ll make your stress vanish I’m your magic man
Just wait til you feel my sleight of hand

Chorus

Summer High

Plays: 1
Lyrics
Summer High

Henna tattoos that say “forever”
Who needs a fortune teller
2 for 1 margaritas from 4 to 6
An Ocean breeze and a salty kiss
The whole world lights up in the sunshine

I get summer high
Buzzin’ on the beach life
Laying in the sun getting solar fried
Nights on the sand by the bonfire
Bob Marley stirring up a one love choir
It’s my favorite state of mind
I get summer high

Boardwalk ferris wheel stuck at the top
Laughin’ like kids when your sandal dropped
Late night dips under the moon
With nothing on but a summer attitude
Thoughts of winter blown out of our minds

Chorus

I’ll meet you under the pier same time next year

And we’ll get summer high
Buzzin’ on the beach life
Laying in the sun getting solar fried
Nights on the sand by the bonfire
Bob Marley stirring up a one love choir
It’s my favorite state of mind
It’s my mental sunshine
I get summer high
Buzzin’ on the beach life
I get summer high
I get summer high

ALMOST HAD TO DIE

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Almost Had to Die

He was drinkin’ at the bar again longer than he thought
Missed his daughter’s play that day he just plain forgot
Drivin’ home he ran a red light was t-boned by a truck
The doctors said he survived by pure luck
His wife and kids held his hands in that hospital room
He realized how much he had to lose

He almost had to die, to open his eyes
Almost lost sight of all the best things in life
Blinded for a while, but now he see’s things right
He almost had to die, to open his eyes

When they got home the first thing he did was kneel down to pray
Knows he got a second chance it had to be God’s grace
He took his kids out in the yard and threw the ball around
They laughed and played until the sun went down
His wife was smiling from the porch and she blew him a kiss
He’d forgotten how beautiful she is

He almost had to die, to open his eyes
Almost lost sight of all the best things in life
Blinded for a while, but now he see’s things right
He almost had to die, to open his eyes

Swears he saw a bright white light in a dream he can’t forget
Heard a voice call out his name it said, “You’re not done living yet”

He almost had to die, to open his eyes
Almost lost sight of all the best things in life
Blinded for a while, but now he see’s things right
He almost had to die, to open his eyes
He almost had to die, to open his eyes

LOSE MYSELF

Plays: 1
Lyrics
Lose Myself
© Parker/Townley/Miller

I was cowboy tough
Fast and furious
A little bit myth
whole lot of trail dust
Hell bent and head strong
Good at gettin’ gone
til your beautiful came along

Now I feel settled into my skin,
Long gone from how I was living
Fine with droppin’ my defenses
You’re the steady to my reckless
The pick me up for all of life’s problems
One kiss I forget I got em
The shelter I love running to
That’s what I find …
when I lose myself in you

I thought love
Would feel like being stuck
Told myself
I’d have to give up too much
But here I am
Holding your hand
Still not the best but a better man

CHORUS

In the hurricane, you’re the harbor lights
The front porch swing to this gypsy life

CHORUS

Tough Times

Plays: 1
Lyrics
“Tough Times”

He got laid off from work today,
Seems pounding nails don’t pay
Got in his truck and headed for home
Bank note on the door last week,
Not sure how to make ends meet,
Might have to take two jobs to pay that loan
He hugged his kids then told his wife the news
She said “don’t worry, we’ll make it through…

CHORUS
Tough times don't last, Tough people do
Time will pass, and you'll push on through
Stand your ground, Hunker down
might be another rough patch or two
Tough times don't last, Tough people do

Never seen such a hard rain,
Didn’t stop for five straight days
Washed away memories, lifetimes and homes
It brought a lot of people to their knees
But they’re already, back on their feet

CHORUS
Tough times don't last, Tough people do
Time will pass, and you'll push on through
Stand your ground, Hunker down
might be another rough patch or two
Tough times don't last, Tough people do

The Test came back they found a spot
She decided, she’s gonna fight it, with everything she’s got

CHORUS
Tough times don't last, Tough people do
Time will pass, and you'll push on through
Stand your ground, Hunker down
might be another rough patch or two
You might feel like you're stuck, out of luck
But there's one thing that's true
Tough times don't last, Tough people do

Why Not!

Plays: 3
Lyrics
Why Not!

Your smile almost knocked me down
My jaw just ‘bout hit the ground
I strained my neck as you walked by
Knew I’d never see that smile again
If I didn’t take a chance right then
I worked up the nerve to go say hi

Why not, why wait?
Maybe this could be fate
Who knows it might
Be the moment that changes our lives
Might as well give it a shot
Why not

I turned when you asked my name
Thought I might just walk away
But something in your eyes changed my mind
So I pulled out a bright red pen
Wrote my number on the palm of your hand
With a smile I said call me some time

Why not, why wait?
Maybe this could be fate
Who knows it might
Be the moment that changes our lives
Might as well give it a shot
Why not

Never know where this might lead
Could be better than we ever dreamed

Why not, why wait?
Maybe this could be fate
Who knows it might
Be a moment that lasts a life
Might as well give it a shot
Might be better than we ever thought
Why not
Why not
