A Kid Like You

Plays: 8
Backstory
I have three beautiful children. They are all unique, strong personality, good sense of humor, thoughtful. I'm so blessed! But they are kids, they are immature at times, forgetful, they make silly decisions. It's a beautiful ride and this song is about all of them!

Also, I wrote a song called "The Man I'm Trying To Be" when I found out I was going to be a dad for the first time. So the middle and youngest child have been saying, you have to write a song for us too!
Lyrics
[Verse]
When you grow up, I hope you have, a kid like you
Hates brushing teeth, cleaning up, can never find their shoes
Takes a sharpie, to your leather seats, and drives you crazy
(lift voice) I’ll laugh when they put you through, what you put me through

[Chorus]
And you’ll smile so big, when you hold em in the delivery room
Trade those Friday nights, to be home watching cartoons
I guess I’ll tell you the truth
(lift voice) Even if God let me choose
I’d still pick
A Kid Like You
A Kid Like You

[Verse 2]
When they fall down, scrape their knee, get a little boo boo
Their heart gets broke, the first time, you’ll feel it too
They try to lie, sneakin in, past curfew
(lift voice) I’ll remind ya, you did it too

[Chorus]
And you’ll smile so big, when you hold em in the delivery room
Trade those Friday nights, to be home watching cartoons
I guess I’ll tell you the truth
(lift voice) Even if God let me choose
I’d still pick
A Kid Like You
A Kid Like You

[Outro]
I’ll tell you exactly, what I’d do
I’d pick you

A Song Is Like A Woman

Plays: 2
Backstory
Wrote this with my friend. I had a melody started and he added a cool layer on guitar. I don't remember how the lyrics came about, it was just a song written on the spur of the moment. We thought it was classic country and loved it!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
A song is like a woman
Can Get you drinking in the dark
Going over the words
That cut so deep and sharp
It can give a man the blues
it can break his heart
Oh, a song is like a woman
Can Get you drinking in the dark

[Verse 2]
A song is like a woman
Make your heart beat so fast
Make you fall in love
And leave behind the past
Both can get you speeding
With your foot on the gas
Oh, a song is like a woman
Make your heart beat so fast

[Chorus]
Sometimes they’re sad and lonely
Like when he stopped loving her today
But when you find the right one
It can make the world go away
Both make the sweetest sound
Sweet as Amazing Grace
Lost in this moment
A song is like a woman

[Verse 3]
A song is like a woman
you can play them both
But when you do
You're just putting on a show
They get stuck in your mind
And you can't let them go
A song is like a woman
Oh God love them both

[Chorus]
Sometimes they’re sad and lonely
Like When he stopped loving her today
But when you find the right one
It can make the world go away
Both make the sweetest sound
Sweet as Amazing Grace
Lost in this moment
A song is like a woman

[Outro]
Both get you dancing
Help a sinner find his way
Lost in this moment
A song is like a woman
Lost in this moment
A song is like a woman

Giggin Frogs

Plays: 9
Backstory
I co-wrote this with a friend. I went frog giggin and fish giggin on a few occasions growing up and it's about as country as it gets. The melody came first and this one wrote itself it felt like!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Backroad to a fishin hole, cane pole
Propped up, good for my soul
Her tan legs leanin on a cooler
Shades on, but I can't fool her
You know I'm looking, girl

[Pre-Chorus]
She's fine as Sunday, soakin up the sunshine
But that full moon brings out her wild side

[Chorus]
She takes off, chasin them night sounds
Down off Old Buck Creek
Burnin hotter than my lantern
Says, "boy, come follow me"
What she can do with her hands in the midnight dark
Steals my breath away when she hits her mark
Love's gettin dirty and lost out in the fog
Giggin frogs
(Woo!)

[Verse 2]
Red bandana got her hair tied back
Stompin through the water with a burlap sack
Time to cool off, she gives me a grin
Slides off the bank, and pulls me in

[Pre-Chorus]
My Hearts beatin louder than an old bull croakin
She slips me a kiss, says let's go again

[Chorus]
She takes off, chasin them night sounds
Down off Old Buck Creek
Burnin hotter than my lantern
Says, "boy, come follow me"
What she can do with her hands in the midnight dark
Steals my breath away when she hits her mark
Love's gettin dirty and lost out in the fog
Giggin frogs

[Bridge]
Just her and me and a Southern breeze
All the critters' eyes glowin through the trees
I'm all over her just like the mud

[Chorus]
She takes off, chasin them night sounds
Down off Old Buck Creek
Burnin hotter than my lantern
Says, "boy, come follow me"
What she can do with her hands in the midnight dark
Steals my breath away when she hits her mark
Love's gettin dirty and lost out in the fog
Giggin frogs
(Woo!)

[Outro]
Giggin frogs
Giggin frogs

Good and Decent Man

Plays: 2
Backstory
One of the earlier songs I ever wrote. I wrote the first song, and the rest of the song seemed to write itself.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
On a farm on the edge of town
He was busy putting cattle out
They rode in with their horses and their guns
The outlaws wanted food and money
He decided they’d taken plenty
He put up a fight, but he never stood a chance

[Chorus]
And he sang
Goodbye, goodbye my lover
Please send a letter to my mother
Tell her I'm in the arms of the Lord
I finally paid for all my sins
I've been washed and I've been cleansed
I'll die a good and decent man

[Verse 2]
The gang headed west and they made a camp
A guilty cowboy's head was in a mess
He rode into town to have himself a drink
In the street he heard the sweetest voice
Right there and then he made a choice
He’d do anything to make her fancy him
Late at night he’s sobbing like a child
His mean jaded hearts turning soft and mild
She changed his soul, made him a righteous man

[Chorus]
And he sang
Thank you, thank you my lover
You’ve touched my life like no other
I can feel the arms of the Lord
I finally confessed all my sins
I've been washed and I've been cleansed
I’ll live as a good and decent man

[Verse 3]
A lawman's posse surrounded the house
Said you have a minute to come out
For what you've done, you have to meet the noose

[Chorus]
And he sang
Goodbye, goodbye my lover
Please send a letter to my mother
Tell her I'm in the arms of the Lord
I owe a debt for all my sins
But I've been washed and I've been cleansed
I'll die a good and decent man

[Outro]
And She cried, goodbye, goodbye my lover

I DON'T CARE

Plays: 7
Backstory
My brother is a free spirit and never really grew up. He doesn't want for much, likes to party, and lives on bare minimum. I heard he was living in a tent under a bridge, and I thought, "He really doesn't care." Then I wrote this song. While he has his share of issues, I like to think of him on his best days. On the river without a care!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Floatin on this River raft I ain't got a boat
Puffing on a cigarette I probably shouldn't smoke
People say it's bad for me but I don't care
Boss called this morning said I better come to work
But I didn't feel like putting on a shirt
Now the sun's burning up my skin and I don't care

[Chorus]
'Cause I feel great
I feel fine
Got this country air
I Got peace of mind
Some chase dreams
I’m Chasin good times
If you don't like how I'm living out here
I don't care

[Verse 2]
I Holler to the canoe toss me a bud
I pop the top gulp it down I love these suds
Mama says I drink too much but I don't care
She keeps telling me get a girlfriend
But all them pretty girls try to change who I am
If they don't like me laid back then I don't care

[Chorus]
'Cause I feel great
I feel fine
Got this country air
I got peace of mind
Some chase dreams
I’m Chasin good times
If you don't like how I'm living out here
I don't care

[Bridge]
I used to have a little band that would play with me
But one went to jail and one got married
So I'm playing all alone and I don't care
Take it away me
La da da da doo da da doo doo
La da da da doo da da doo doo
La da da da da doo doo doo

[Chorus]
I feel great
I feel fine
Got this country air
I got peace of mind
Some chase dreams
I’m Chasin good times
If you don't like how I'm living out here
I don't care
If you don't like how I'm living out here
I don't care

I Want Another Shot

Plays: 4
Backstory
I almost ruined my chance with my wife. On one of our earlier outings, we were flirting and it was going great. I drank too much and made a fool of myself. I thought I ruined my chance! Luckily, it worked out and we've been married 14 years!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
One foot, on the floor, to keep this room from spinnin more
Layin, in the bed, chainsaw buzzin in my head
Gatorade, on the stand, advil in my hand
Baby I’m in pretty bad shape, and it’s all your fault you pretty little thing

[Chorus]
You got us an uber out to the bar
Makin out in the back of the car
To the tin roof, drinkin 90 proof
I should be holding you
Not this toilet in the middle of the night
When I get rid of these bloodshot eyes
Hope I’m not an after thought
Cause baby I want another shot

[Verse 2]
My phone, dingin, my friends sendin DM’s
Of me and you, in the pool, what in the hell did I do
I went, too hard, on the bottle, not your heart
When I get right and sober up, baby you can fill my cup

[Chorus]
You got us an uber out to the bar
Makin out in the back of the car
To the tin roof, drinkin 90 proof
I should be holding you
Not this toilet in the middle of the night
When I get rid of these bloodshot eyes
Hope I’m not an after thought
Cause baby I want another shot

[Bridge]
If we, make a date, let’s not tempt fate
Let’s try a movie, or go to church
Something that, doesn’t hurt

[Chorus]
You got us an uber out to the bar
Makin out in the back of the car
To the tin roof, drinkin 90 proof
I should be holding you
Not this toilet in the middle of the night
When I get rid of these bloodshot eyes
Hope I’m not an after thought
Cause baby I want another shot

Baby I want another shot

I'M A TABLE

Plays: 3
Backstory
My wife's family always went to the her grandma's farm Sunday after church. All the aunts, uncles, cousins, grandbabies - I married in but it became very special to me as well. Last month my wife's aunt Barb passed away. The morning of her funeral I woke up early and wrote this song from the farm table's perspective.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I'm a table
In an old Kentucky farmhouse kitchen
I've been here for generations
I'm part of the family
Children grow up
And go off to chase their dreams
But they come back on Sundays
My favorite day of the week

[Chorus]
Oh the love I've seen cooked in every dish
When they held Granny's hand or made a birthday wish
The hours of laughter made time pass by faster (mmm)

[Verse 2]
I've held their memories
Old pictures and obituaries
Homework and good stories
They're carved into me
Some are gone now
At home with the Lord
The one they always thank the meal for
But I still save them a seat

[Chorus]
Oh the love I've seen cooked in every dish
When they held Granny's hand gave new babies a kiss
The hours of laughter made time pass by faster

[Outro]
I'm a table
In an old Kentucky farmhouse kitchen
I've been here five generations
I'm part of the family

It's Gonna Cost Ya

Plays: 2
Backstory
My wife was at the end of a not great relationship when we met. It was dead in the water but they hadn't broken up all the way. Before she officially dated me, she ended it. She's a very ethical girl! But I wrote this song from the perspective of a guy wanting another guy's girl!

You can leave him and have me, but it's gonna cost ya!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
The eight dollar drinks yeah they add up
Tomorrow morning's gonna suck
This shotgun bar therapy
It's gonna cost ya

[Verse 2]
You keep on letting him let you down
But you treat him like he wears a crown
He's a playboy and you're playing his game
It's gonna cost ya

[Chorus]
It's gonna cost ya a whole lot of tears
A full tank of gas to leave him standing there
Maybe a few good friends that blame you for breaking up with him
you know you oughta
But it's gonna cost ya

[Verse 3]
Girl I know you're vulnerable
The timing is bad I sound like a fool
But I gotta wear my heart on my sleeve
Or It'll cost me

[Verse 4]
All you do is hurt with him
And I want to be more than friends
I’ll restore your faith in love
But It's gonna cost ya

[Chorus]
It's gonna cost ya a whole lot of tears
A full tank of gas to leave him standing there
Maybe a few good friends that blame you for breaking up with him
you know you oughta
But it's gonna cost ya
It's gonna cost ya

[Bridge]
And I'll be the one that they blame
I'll be the one that stole you away
And I'll be the one thankful that you're mine
It's gonna cost ya

[Outro]
It's gonna cost ya

Jesus Is King Overall Afterall

Plays: 4
Backstory
I feel like the Holy Spirit wrote this one through my hands. Praise Jesus!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Heavy, burdens, I'm tired, of carrying
Even, the bird sang, after they've been in the rain

[Chorus]
'Cause Jesus is King over all after all
So we don't stay down when we fall
We all fall short of His glory
His love is never ending

[Verse 2- keep same melody as verse 1]
Prayin, For Healin, Taking it, All to Him
In, Christ, I'm free, The God who sees me

[Chorus]
'Cause Jesus is King over all after all
So we don't stay down when we fall
We all fall short of His glory
His love is never ending

[Instrumental- not too crazy- keep the mood reflective]

[Chorus- same melody as first chorus- soft]
'Cause Jesus is King over all after all
So we don't stay down when we fall
We all fall short of His glory
His love is never ending

Kinda Sad Like That

Plays: 0
Backstory
A buddy was getting divorced. I wrote this song after having a conversation with him and encouraging him.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
It's like an old man at a Denny's sitting all alone
Gold band on his finger, missing meals cooked at home
Everything is quiet where laughter filled the air
Wondering how did I get here

[Chorus]
I'm kind of sad like that
I just want to be mad
I want to miss you even though you ain't coming back
I'm kind of sad like that

[Verse 2]
Bobby Braddock and Curly Putman wrote He Stopped Loving Her Today
I don't know what happened to them but I sure can relate
Wish you would come see me one last time
You still prey upon my mind

[Chorus]
I'm kind of sad like that
I just want to be mad
I want to miss you even though you ain't coming back
I'm kind of sad like that
A cigarette, a bourbon, and half a six-pack
I'm kind of sad like that

Lonely No More

Plays: 4
Backstory
A long time ago, a relationship ended. I wrote this when I was bummed out.
Lyrics
She rests her head on my chest
As She slips into a dream
It would hurt her so bad
If She knew why I can't sleep
Staring at that old lamp
The one we bought in Ver-sales
Just wasting an afternoon
Huntin down yard sales

[Chorus]
Now I ain't lonely no more
Ain't lonely no more
Ain't lonely no more
[guitar continues rhythmic pattern]

[Verse 2]
Tried to call and change your mind
But you got a new cell phone
I heard you moved in with him
A couple weeks ago
Do you wear that red dress for him baby
The one you used to wear for me
I started smoking again
It's so hard to believe

[Chorus]
That you ain't lonely no more
Ain't lonely no more
Ain't lonely no more

[instrumental]

[Verse 3]
Sitting here watching her sleep
Wishing she was gone
Wonder if you're doing the same thing
If you’re nights feel so long

[Chorus]
But I ain't lonely no more
Ain't lonely no more
I ain't so sure
That I ain't lonely no more
Ain't lonely no more
Ain't lonely no more

Memories (I Wouldn't Be Me, Without You)

Plays: 2
Backstory
I wrote the first line and had it for about a year but never finished. Then a guy at church was upset one night because an old buddy of his passed away. I started thinking about my old buddies I haven't seen in years. Then I finished the song!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Memories, in the back of your mind
Like that old yellow Cutlas, cruisin on a summer night
They take you back, down some old roads
Remind ya who you are, how you got this far, where it is you wanna go
Memories, Yeah, Oh

[Chorus'
It's crazy how the time flew
I wouldn't be me, without you

[Verse 2]
They flooded back, When I got the news
It’s been 20 years since I seen ya, but I’m feelin blue
We were boys, back in the day
Wild and free, young and green, I remember you that way

[Chorus]
It’s crazy how the time flew
I wouldn’t be me, without you

[Verse 3]
That picture of us, at Daytona beach
We drove all night just to jump in and leave

[Chorus]
t’s crazy how the time flew
I wouldn’t be me, without you
It’s crazy how the time flew
I wouldn’t be me, without you

Memories, in the back of your mind

One More First Time

Plays: 4
Backstory
A coming of age song.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Seventeen, trying real hard
Prom date in my daddy's car
Fuzzy old station on the radio
Killed the headlights off a curvy backroad
She took me in her arms, said it won't do no harm
If we just let go tonight
Heart beating in my chest, words heavy on my breath
Just trying to get it right

[Chorus]
Give me just one more
First time
See the love, and the lust, and the trust in her eyes
If I could Rewind
To when she was mine
I’d hold her close all night
Give me just one more
One more first time

[Verse 2]
We tried to make it work
When it ended, oh man it hurt
Two people, two different dreams
We'll always have that memory
Fireworks in every kiss, ignorance was bliss
We thought things would never change
Shoulda come with a warnin’, learned by the next mornin’
Nothing ever stays the same

[Chorus]
Give me just one more
First time
See the love, and the lust, and the trust in her eyes
If I could Rewind
To when she was mine
I’d hold her close all night
Give me just one more
One more first time

[Chorus- softer and build louder]
If I could Rewind
To when she was mine
I’d hold her close all night
Give me just one more
Yeah, just one more
One more first time

[Outro]
First time

Read Between The Lines

Plays: 2
Backstory
Long time ago, I was bummed out when a relationship ended. She didn't write me a letter but this song came together out of the pain.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
It's written in all red
And tore along the edge
Yeah she wrote it in a hurry
It's folded here in my pocket
I came home and found it
She tried her best not to hurt me

[Chorus]
Bartender pour me a drink
I wanna get drunk so I can't think about her
I should have read between the lines before tonight
If I had I would have known that we weren't alright
She tried to tell me I wasn't listening
But right now I can see
She made it clear this time I can read between the lines
Between the lines

[Verse 2]
It was a month ago
She mentioned Mexico
We could use a getaway
I told her I was busy
Work needed me
But maybe we'd go someday
I wonder if she's there now
Wish I could turn back time somehow (somehow)

[Chorus]
I should have read between the lines before tonight
If I had I would have known that we weren't alright
She tried to tell me I wasn't listening
But right now I can see
She made it clear this time I can read between the lines
Between the lines

[Bridge]
She ends with a P.S. I'll always love you
Hating myself for what I put her through

[Chorus]
I should have read between the lines before tonight
If I had I would have known that we weren't alright
She tried to tell me I wasn't listening
But right now I can see
She made it clear this time I can read between the lines
Between the lines

[Outro]
It's written in all red
And tore along the edge
She wrote it in a hurry

She's Had It With Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
A friend of mine was left by his wife for another man. He's a great guy and I really felt like she messed up and would regret it someday. I just thought, "she's already had true love" and the song came to life from that.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
If you see her drinkin alone downtown
Mascara tears rollin down
You might think some cowboy broke her heart
She just needs her true love story to start

[Chorus]
She’s Had It With Me, But she threw it all away
She’s Had it With Me, Got Her own self to blame
She broke her heart, when she broke mine
Wishes she could go back in time
I didn’t want you to think
Real love wouldn’t leave her that way
Cause she’s had it with me

[Verse 2]
If you see her listenin to cheatin songs
She aint the one that’s been done wrong
She’s just punishing herself
For putting my love back on the shelf

[Chorus]

[Bridge/Instrumental- nelly vocals]
Yeah she’s had it with

[Fade Out]
She’s had it with me

The Man I'm Trying To Be

Plays: 0
Backstory
My dad got sick and I was married less than a year when we found out it was bone cancer. He kept asking me and my wife when we were going to have kids, he loved being a grandpa. A week before he passed he told me we would be having a baby soon. The day after his funeral I was sleeping (exhausted) and my wife woke me up with a pregnancy test. We were staying at mom and dad's house. I woke my mom up and told her the news. The new baby and our first was a great blessing to help us get through the grief. I wrote this song a few months into the pregnancy before she was even born. I love you dad!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I counted two eyes, one nose
One beautiful baby with ten tiny toes
God knows her mama and I are blessed
This day's a little bittersweet
'Cause Dad, you can't be here with me
To say, "Son, y'all did just fine"

[Chorus]
I wish that you could hold her
But someday when she's older
I'll tell her all about you
And all the things that you could do
With two strong arms, a hammer and a nail
You always loved your family
Thanked God for the little things
And picked me up every time I fell
I wish she could meet
The man I'm trying to be

[Verse 2]
I'll take her fishing just like we did
On the Rolling Fork when I was ten
Telling big tales and learning about life
I'll try to mend her every broken heart
And teach her how to drive her first car
I hope I do as well as you did

[Chorus]
You were always my hero
But now my little girl's got
One hell of an angel
And I'll tell her all about you
A man's man through and through
But gentle enough to hold my mama tight
You'd give the shirt right off your back
To help a stranger, no questions asked
A good example of living right
I wish she could meet
The man I'm trying to be

[Bridge]
Always strong
And even though I hate you're gone
You'd want me to carry on

[Chorus]
I'll tell her all about you
And all the things that you could do
With two strong arms, a hammer and a nail
You always loved your family
And thanked God for the little things
And picked me up every time I fell
I wish she could meet
The man I'm trying to be

[Outro]
Man, I'm trying to be
Man, I'm trying to be

Your Momma's Been Praying

Plays: 2
Backstory
I was playing music at church. Mother's Day was coming up and I just thought about how good mommas and praying for their children.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
As you were taking steps toward that kindergarten door
Tears were falling down like you’ve never seen before
She had to let you go, had to let you grow
But deep within her soul, deep within her soul

[Chorus]
She’s asking God, watch over my babe-e
As I’m letting go, let it be your hand they’re take-ing
She’s asking God, to guide your every move
While you were just liv-ing
Your momma’s been pray-ing

[Verse 2]
21 years later and your saying your vows
Living in the moment you dreamed of for so long now
Your mommas dreamed it too, shes made big plans for you
Wants God at the center of all that you do, all that you do

[Chorus]
She’s asking God, watch over my babe-e
As I’m letting go, let it be your hand they’re take-ing
She’s asking God, to guide your every move
While you were just liv-ing
Your momma’s been pray-ing

[Bridge]
So be sure to thank the good Lord above
For making your momma so full of love

[Chorus]
She’s asking God, watch over my babe-e
As I’m letting go, let it be your hand they’re take-ing
She’s asking God, to guide your every move
While you were just liv-ing
Your momma’s been pray-ing

I Will Too

Plays: 5
Backstory
Cliche I know, but this is a song that just came out of nowhere.... I play music at my church and lately I've just been led by the Holy Spirit to glorify God in songwriting. All creation sings His praise and that's what this song is about!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
If the flowers wear their Sunday best
If the mountains rise to feel Your breath
If the valley echoes Your sweet name
If the dew lays down Hosanna praise

[Chorus]
I will too, I'll sing along
With creation's worship song
If the rocks cry out
And waterfalls bow down
I will too
I will too

[Verse 2]
If the robin rises humming a tune
If the sun paints a tribute on the moon
If the jasmine makes You a sweet perfume
If the world's waiting for the groom

[Chorus]
I will too, I'll sing along
With creation's worship song
If the rocks cry out
And waterfalls bow down
I will too
I will too

[Bridge]
If the dogwood dances I will too
If the horses run I will run for You
If heaven and earth will be made new
I will too

[Chorus]
I will too, I'll sing along
With creation's worship song
If the rocks cry out
And waterfalls bow down
When the waterfalls bow down
I will too
I will too

One More Day

Plays: 2
Backstory
I work in an insurance office. An old man came in talking about having to move into an assisted living home with his wife who has alzheimer's. He said it's the worst disease and so hard to see her go through. He said he hopes he lives one day longer than her so he can take care of her.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
They moved to an old folks home (nursing)
He had cancer, her mind was gone
When I walked in he was brushing her hair
She didn’t even know he was there

I tried, to give, him a break
He said, “Grandson, that’s okay”

[Chorus]
I thank God that I’m the one, that she gave all her love
For 62 years
As we get to the end, I hope I outlive
Her, so I can calm her fears
I ask God when I pray,
If she goes I just need, One More Day

[Verse 2]
I’ll pick her a dress and bible verse
Before they take her in that hearse
That’s the last thing i gotta do
Then the Lord can take me home too

[Chorus]
I thank God that I’m the one, that she gave all her love
For 62 years
As we get to the end, I hope I outlive
Her, so I can calm her fears
I ask God when I pray,
If she goes I just need, One More Day

[Bridge]
Grandma passed away that night
With grandpa right by her side
There wasn’t a dry eye
When we heard him cry

[Chorus]
I thank God that I’m the one, that she gave all her love
For 62 years
Where her life ends, Heaven begins
She has no more fear
Now I’ll say, when I pray
I’m ready, to go today
Yes, I’m ready, to go today

BLOW UP HOT TUB

Plays: 9
Backstory
Well, this song is party because of SongU! I'm really trying to pursue this songwriting dream so I love the opportunity to pitch songs. I keep reading the pitch opportunity suggestions and everyone wants upbeat and fun-loving songs. So I was laying in bed and thinking about fun things people can relate to. My wife and I have been looking up blow up hot tubs on Amazon because it's cheap fun. So I started writing this song in my head and jumped out of bed at 2 am to finish it!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
It ain’t the riviera or Cancun
But it’ll make a party, for two
It’ll send bubbles up your back
And I can put the fizzy in your glass

[Chorus]
I got a blow up, hot tub
It’s time, we, heat things up
Don’t you wanna turn, on my jets
Let’s make a night, we won’t forget
I got a blow up hot tub

[Verse 2]
Wear that sexy little, string bikini
We’ll crank up, some Dolly and Kenny
A tiki torch will set the mood
Come on over if you want to

[Chorus]
I got a blow up, hot tub
It’s time, we, heat things up
Don’t you wanna turn, on my jets
Let’s make a night, we won’t forget
I got a blow up hot tub

[Bridge]
It's sittin at a hundred degrees
We could be touching knees

[Chorus]
I got a blow up, hot tub
It’s time, we, heat things up
Don’t you wanna turn, on my jets
Let’s make a night, we won’t forget
I got a blow up hot tub
I got a blow up hot tub

Pretty Girls Dance

Plays: 1
Backstory
I wrote a song about what it was like being in college bars when I attended the Univeristy of Kentucky.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Love to go out dancing, yeah
Waving their hands in the air
And they scream when they hear their favorite song
Nothing better when the music's live
Got them sweating, feeling alive
They're as pretty as the day is long

[Chorus]
I hear them screaming Wagon Wheel
Begging me with their eyes
Singing it back to me
It's sounding very nice
Just an old bar song
Drawing lots of fans
I'm having a real good time
Watching all the pretty girls dance

[Verse 2]
Carry around a pitcher of beer
Keep setting cups up here
Some are too drunk to sing along
Making time for one slow dance
Every girl wants a little romance
A handsome boy to hold her in his arms

[Chorus]
I hear them screaming Wagon Wheel
Begging me with their eyes
Singing it back to me
It's sounding very nice
Just an old bar song
Drawing lots of fans
I'm having a real good time
Watching all the pretty girls dance

[guitar solo]

[Verse 3]
Bartender screaming last call
But we're still having a ball
I guess all good things must come to an end

[Chorus]
I hear them screaming Wagon Wheel
Begging me with their eyes
Singing it back to me
It's sounding very nice
Just an old bar song
Drawing lots of fans
I'm having a real good time
Watching all the pretty girls dance

[Outro]
Watching all the pretty girls dance
[acoustic guitar fades out]

Sometimes

Backstory
My wife is the girl next door! And we all know the type, the sweet and down to earth girl next door you can't help but fall for. We hope and pray they like us back! That's the ispiration behind this song.
Lyrics
[Verse]
Every guy, in this town
Has fallen, in love, with you
Not saying, I have
But I see, why they do

You’re down to earth, pretty too
The perfect girl next door
Maybe that’s why, I’m confused
Wondering if you want more

[Chorus]
Sometimes I think you’re feeling me
But honey you’re sure hard to read
Are ya flirtin’ or friendly
It’s a mystery

And Sometimes I’m dyin to see
If kissin you is like I dream
Might sound crazy
But don’t lie
Am I on you mind
Sometimes

[Verse 2]
You’re nice, to everyone
That, you, meet
You’re so, innocent
Don’t mean to mislead

Oh but that smile, that laugh
The way you throw back your hair
That one time, you touched my arm
Baby is there something there

[Chorus]
Sometimes I think you’re feeling me
But honey you’re sure hard to read
Are ya flirtin’ or friendly
It’s a mystery

And Sometimes I’m dyin to see
If kissin you is like I dream
Might sound crazy
But don’t lie
Am I on you mind
Sometimes

[instrumental]

[Chorus]
And Sometimes I’m dyin to see
If kissin you is like I dream
Might sound crazy
But don’t lie
Am I on you mind
Sometimes

Am I on your mind
Sometimes

I Love Jesus The Most

Plays: 1
Backstory
I play at church a lot and just enjoy songs about my savior, Jesus Christ.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Everybody knows I’m a sucker for fireflies
And dairy queen ice cream in July
I know all the words to every Don Williams song
I love it when that country gold comes on

[Chorus]
But I love Jesus the most, nothing else can come close
To a dirty river baptism, singin’ he has risen
No sinner has to thirst, he poured out grace on this earth
He gave me eternal life, No I don’t have to think twice
I love Jesus the most…. The most…. The most. Most

[Verse 2]
I can’t wait to bait and cast a line
With my little boy by my side
Then drive on home and give his momma a kiss
I love livin’ like this

[Chorus]
But I love Jesus the most, nothing else can come close
To a dirty river baptism, singin’ he has risen
No sinner has to thirst, he poured out grace on this earth
He gave me eternal life, No I don’t have to think twice
I love Jesus the most…. The most…. The most. Most

[Bridge]
Yeah I love Jesus more than a Sunday mornin’ choir singin’ to my soul
And I love Jesus more than this whole world has to offer, don’t you know

[End]
I love Jesus the most, the most, the most. Most

The Gospeler

Plays: 1
Backstory
I was preaching through the book of Acts and just felt inspired by the early church who spread the Gospel despite the danger. This song is for them and all the evangelists throughout history.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
They walked to Damascus
And sailed across the ocean blue
To spread the message
Jesus died for you

[Chorus]
How beautiful are the feet of the gospeler
Of the gospeler
How perfect and sweet are the words
Of the gospeler
Of the gospeler

[Verse 2]
The Holy Spirit led them
And gave them what to say
Sickness and Demons
Were sent running away

[Chorus]
How beautiful are the feet of the gospeler
Of the gospeler
How perfect and sweet are the words
Of the gospeler
Of the gospeler

[Bridge]
How beautiful are the feet of the gospeler
Of the gospeler
Salvation is in the words
Of the gospeler
Of the gospeler

[Verse 3]
Some followed Jesus to the cross
Some were burned at the stake
They offered forgiveness to their enemies

[Outro]
How beautiful are the feet
Of the gospeler
Of the gospeler

I Make Her Cry

Plays: 1
Backstory
I met a girl (now my wife) and we were in the early stages of talking. I knew she could be the "one" and that she was the kind of girl you don't just date but marry. We hadn't even been on a date yet when another girl was flirting with me and invited me over. I thought to myself, "well I'm not officially dating this girl I am really crazy about yet so where's the harm..... but I think I want to marry her...." I turned down the invitation to go hang out with the other girl. I married the "one"! The girl who invited me over was from Chicago so I wrote this song about being tempted.
Lyrics
[Intro]
(Harmonica solo)

[Verse 1]
Hello nice to meet you too
So what brings a girl like you out here
So far from home
Yeah I've been to Chicago once
I'll never go back in the winter months
Chilled this old boy to the bone
Thanks for the drink next one's on me
Shouldn't stay too long got somewhere I should be

[Chorus]
'Cause she's waiting all alone
Wondering why I ain't come home
I guess I should go apologize
Sometimes we have our fights
but she always kisses me goodnight
Even when I make her cry

[Instrumental]
(Harmonica solo)

[Verse 2]
Lately it's been hard
The house the bills and the credit cards
Barely making ends meet
What kind of jerk would break your heart
Honey I liked you right from the start
What's this here your hotel room key
This is a bad idea I think
You're right I shouldn't drive with all I've had to drink

[Chorus]
But she's waiting all alone
Wondering why I ain't come home
I should probably go apologize
Sometimes we have our fights
But she always kisses me goodnight
Even when I make her cry

[Instrumental]
(Harmonica solo)

[Bridge]
I'm sorry that I led you on
Someday you're gonna find someone

[Chorus]
Waiting all alone for you to come home
Now I have to go apologize
Sometimes we have our fights
But I'm gonna go hold her tight
I sure don't like to make her cry
I sure hate to make her cry

[Outro]
(Harmonica solo)
