She writes across contemporary country, blues, Christian, pop, and rock, with a passion for songs that explore resilience, redemption, empowerment, and the real-life struggles people often keep hidden. Remainder of My Years

Plays: 0
Backstory
It's all about love, baby.
Lyrics
It was the moment
That our eyes met
That I knew
I’d been waiting
Forever for you
Angels were singing
I could hear them in my mind
A chorus of Hallelujah
Giving me a peace of mind

Chorus
Baby
I just want to wake you
To share all my dreams
Give you my future
To give you all of me
Baby
I want to tell you
All my fears
And find comfort in your arms
Let you wipe away my tears
Oh baby,
I want you to be mine
For the remainder of my years

As trouble finds us
As trouble will
We’ll cross every valley
Climb every hill
We’ll forge our hearts
Like iron and steel

Baby
You can wake me
To share all your dreams
Give me your future
To share yourself with me
Baby
I want you to tell me
All your fears
And find comfort in my arms
Let me wipe away your tears
Oh baby,
I want you to be mine
For the remainder of my years

Baby, we’ve got this
You and me against the world
I want you to be mine
For the remainder of my years

I'm Fighting the Jones

Plays: 0
Backstory
It's all about missing your baby in a big way.
Lyrics
Your words taunt me
That look in your eye
That no-so subtle invite
The move of your body
In the shadow of the night

Chorus
Baby,
I've fighting the Jones
Just to be alone with you
To hear your deep groan
Echo inside of me
To feel your bones
Rattling like a decree
Boy,
I've got the Jones for you,
Please set me free

You left at daybreak
To catch a plane
Leaving me wide awake
Craving an earthquake
I could taste you
On my own sweat
You left behind on me
Like a bettor's debt

Baby,
I've fighting the Jones
Just to be alone with you
To hear your deep groan
Echo inside of me
To feel your bones
Rattling like a decree
Boy,
I've got the Jones for you,
Please set me free

Baby,
Put an end to your memory
Or put me out of my misery
End this woman's pain
Or bring me relief

Baby,
I've fighting the Jones
Just to be alone with you
To hear your deep groan
Echo inside of me
To feel your bones
Rattling like a decree
Boy,
I've got the Jones for you,
Please set me free

Baby,
I've got the Jones for you,
Please, baby, please baby, please -
Set me free...

In a Mood

Plays: 0
Backstory
Women use the expression "in a mood" all the time.
Lyrics
Sun on my face
Ocean on my body
Salt on my lips
And you’re looking like a party
Sand between my toes
Prince pumping through the air
You pull your shirt off slowly
Like you know I’m gonna stare

I’m tracing that new tattoo
Wondering where it leads
You catch me looking at you
And you know just what I mean

Temperature is rising
Nothing left to prove
Boy, the way you’re moving
Got me slipping in a—

Mood, mood
Boy, I’m in a mood
That summer on your skin
Got me wanting something new
Mood, mood
And it looks good on you
I could blame it on the sunshine
But we both know that’s not true
Come a little closer
Give me something I can’t lose
Boy, I’m in a mood
I’m in a mood
And it looks good on you

Ooh-ooh
I’m in a mood
Ooh-ooh
And it looks good on you
Ooh-ooh
Nothing left to prove
Tonight I’m in a—
I’m in a mood

Ice in my glass
Melting with the daylight
Your hand on my waist
Got me thinking past midnight
Bare feet on the deck
Pink burning through the blue
The whole world fades to rhythm
When I’m moving close to you

Pre-chorus & Chorus

Maybe it’s the heat wave
Maybe it’s the view
Maybe it’s the way the night
Keeps pushing me to you
Maybe it’s the bass line
Maybe it’s the moon
Maybe I don’t need a reason
Baby, I’m just in a mood

Sun on my face
Ocean on my body
Sand between my toes
And you’re looking like a party
Prince in the air
Your tattoo in my view
Don’t make me say it twice, boy—
I’m in a mood for you

Chorus

Ooh-ooh
I’m in a mood
Ooh-ooh
And it looks good on you
Sun going down
But we’re just getting started
Boy, I’m in a mood—
You know exactly what I’m wanting

Fire on the Tailgate

Plays: 0
Lyrics
You left your keys in the dish, And your boots by the door
Half your dreams on the table, Like kindling on the floor
I read the note by the sink, Washed it down the drain
You said don’t wait up for me, Like it wasn’t a chain

I stood there breathing smoke, From a match I struck
Watched your taillights fade away, Like the last hot ash
And I knew right then, What your silence meant

Fire on the tailgate
Flames against the night
Fire on the tailgate
Watching embers rise
You drove off hard
Left me standing in the rain
Fire on the tailgate
Ain't much left but flames (Ain’t much but flames)

Mama said don't chase sparks, Boy, they'll burn you twice
But the screen door rattles, Every time you lie
I fixed that fence at sunrise, With a busted hand
Now the dogs don’t bark at strangers, Even they can smell what's been
I hear your tires in the dark, Like a curse I missed
Every mile fans the flames, Still feels like this
And I’m stuck right here, In the dust you kicked

Chorus

I've watched enough burn down tonight, To light this whole damn town
Let it burn...(Yeah, let it burn!), Every letter...itcan have every piece
Tonight the only thing I'm saving, Is what's left of me

Fire on the tailgate
Dancing in the wind
Every picture, every promise
Every "where we've been"
Fire on the tailgate
Smoke up to the sky
If love can turn to ashes
Then so can goodbye
Fire on the tailgate
That's where it stays
I watched your memory disappear
In those dancing orange flames

Honest Days Work

Plays: 0
Backstory
I believe it's the heart of every hard-working family man.
Lyrics
Sun ain't waiting on nobody
So I'm up before the light
Coffee black and steel-toed boots
Another twelve-hour fight
Calloused hands and busted knuckles
Dirt buried beneath my nails
Every board and beam I lifted
Left another story to tell

This old body's wearing down
One ache at a time...

It's an honest day's work
Sweat running through this old shirt
Steel-toed boots got my feet on fire
Back's about to give out first
But when I walk through that front door
And you smile the way you do
Every blister, every burden
Was worth coming home to you
If loving you means earning every sunrise...
That's an honest day's work.

That old Ford's got two hundred thousand
Still starts every single day
Kind of like this heart you've trusted
To find both our ways
Bills stacked high on the counter
Kids asleep down the hall
We ain't got everything we wanted
But we've got everything that matters most of all

One day these hands won't lift much weight
These shoulders won't stand this tall
But I hope they still remember
How they held you through it all.

It's an honest day's work
Not measured by this week's pay
It's seeing our name on that mailbox
Knowing we built life this way
These calloused hands ain't pretty
But they've never let you down
If I leave this world with nothing else
I know I've left enough
That's an honest day's work.

Living Water

Plays: 0
Backstory
It's what I crave and desire to live
Lyrics
I am defeated
I have nothing left to give
Withered by the world
Barely hanging in
The enemy is always taunting me
Always in my head
Pulling me from the truth
Trying to cover me in dread
But…

Blessed is the one who trusts in Adonai
The Sovereign One
Who meets all my needs
He makes me like a tree
Planted by a stream
Of living water
He makes all my leaves righteousness
Green and prosperous
So living waters will flow from me
So living water will flow from me…

I am a sinner
Covered with guilt and shame
I don’t deserve mercy
I take all the blame
If anything I deserve death or jail
That’s what I’ve been told
But the throne room is open
Where I can go and be bold

Chorus

Come to the river
Drink until you're full
So living water will flow from your very soul

Chorus

Lost and Found Again

Plays: 0
Backstory
Over and over again....lost and found again.
Lyrics
I still remember the morning
When heaven first called my name
Tears falling like the river
As mercy washed away my shame
I thought I'd never wander
Never trade Your voice for lesser things
But somewhere in the noise of living
I forgot what freedom means

Pre-Chorus
Still...
The throne room never moved
You never left your place
You waited where I first met You
While I wandered for days

Chorus
Lost and found again
Right here in Your presence
Right here where grace begins
Every road my heart has wandered
Always leads me back to Him
I come with empty hands
You fill them once again
Every time I lose my way...
I'm lost...
and found again.

Verse 2
I chased applause and empty promises
Built kingdoms made of sand
Held on to things that couldn't hold me
Till they slipped right through my hands
But Your whisper cut through the noise
Like dawn breaking through the rain
"I've called you to something higher
Calling me by name

Pre-Chorus
The throne room never moved
You never turned away
You never stopped watching the road
For my weary face

Chorus
Lost and found again...

Bridge
You don't count the miles I've wandered
You count every step toward home
Your scars still tell the story
That prove I've never walked alone

Chorus
Lost and found again
Not because I'm faithful
But because You always have been
Every failure meets forgiveness
Every prodigal finds home
Here before Your throne
Where I have always belonged
I was never too far gone...

Just lost...

And found again.

Back...
In the throne room.

Reaching

Plays: 0
Backstory
Always reaching....
Lyrics
I’ve been confused
Can’t make up my mind
Living in a world full of promises
That only gives me lies
My flesh cries out
From the marrow of my bones
It leaves me feeling empty
Once I’m alone
So, I’m…

Chorus
Reaching
For Redemption
Letting go of the lies
Clinging
To Your Promises
Running from the world
Breathing
Your Spirit
Releasing pain and unforgiveness

We both know
That only You can satisfy
The cravings deep within my soul
I’ve had all my life
It’s only in your presence
Where my spirit finds rest
Walking in Your righteousness
Is the place I’ll be blessed
So, I’m

Reaching
For Redemption
Letting go of the lies
Clinging
To Your Promises
Running from the world
Breathing
Your Spirit
Releasing pain and unforgiveness

Bridge
The tug-of-war is real
A battle is at hand
So, I’m….

Reaching
For Redemption
Letting go of the lies
Clinging
To Your Promises

Lord, I'm reaching...

This Time

Plays: 0
Backstory
It's about me and my kids - what I desire to do better as an example.
Lyrics
Here I am again
How many times, Lord
Have I been at this crossroad
Chosen chains
Bathed in mire
To cover myself in shame
To believe the lies
The enemy whispers about me

Chorus
But this time
Be the voice calling in the desert of my mind
The North Star guiding me
My right
My left
My fortress of righteousness
This time, Lord
Let it be you,
Not my sin, they see

Playing games with sin
Had become sport, Lord
Pushing the envelope for pleasure sake
Choosing pain
Rising and pride
Becoming more like Cain
Believing the lie
The enemy whispers about You

Chorus

Bridge
Reflect your image within me, Lord
This day and every day

Chorus
This time...

Be the voice calling in the desert of my mind
The North star guiding me
My Right
My left
My fortress of righteousness
This time, Lord
Let it be you, not my sin they see

Boots on the Boardwalk

Plays: 0
Backstory
Boots on the Boardwalk, baby!
Lyrics
I stare at that ‘ol clock
While shadows climb the wall
Listening to the tick-tock
Travel down the hall
I can hear the rain hitting
The metal roof you put on
Reminding me
Of the writing on the walls

Your boots on the Boardwalk
Walking away from me
Every pop…
Every knock…
Every bump and every creak…
Boots on the boardwalk
Running through my mind
Where’s there’s a gulf wind blowing
Salt water in my eyes
The ebb and flow of pain
Us standing on that dock
Reminding me the tide
And your boots on the Boardwalk

A branch taps against the window
As I sit here in the dark
Keeping time with the pounding
That’s beating in my heart
The rocking chairs on the porch
Fighting against the wind
Shutters are a banging
Reminding me again…

Chorus

I hear footsteps in the hallway
Lying that you’re back
There’s a freight train down the road
Beating against the tracks
Anywhere and everywhere
I can’t escape
The sound
Of your boots on the boardwalk

Your boots on the Boardwalk
Walking away from me
Every pop…
Every knock…
Every bump and every creak…

Yeah, your boots on the Boardwalk

If You Still Love Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
From a relationship....
Lyrics
If you still love me...
Quit saying, "I'm fine,”
When I can see clouds forming
Behind those blue eyes.
Tell me what it is
That’s keeping you up at night.
Then let me chase away your fears
By holding you tight.

If you still love me...
Don't leave me guessing where your hearts been.
Put down your phone.
Look at me again.
Tell me what you need
How you need to be satisfied
Then let me gratify your hunger
Then lie by your side.

If you still love me...
Fight through the hard.
Reach for my hand
Before we drift apart.
Don't let the silence win.
Don't let pride decide.
Meet me somewhere in the middle...
Before we end in goodbye.
If you still love me.

I thought you needed perfect...
I thought you stopped needing me...
I didn't know how to reach you...
I didn't know how to ask...

We've been standing in the same room
Miles apart...
We can still find our way back
To each other's heart.

Chorus

Grit & Grace

Plays: 1
Backstory
My Beth and Rip song!
Lyrics
You came with scars, I came with mine
Neither one of us was doing fine
Didn’t need a hero in a white tuxedo
Just somebody willing to hold the line

You never asked me to change my soul
Just called me higher when i lost control
You loved the man behind the mess
That somehow made me whole

We ain’t polished…
We ain’t perfect…
But we’ve never backed down from the fight.

We’re grit and grace
Fire and faith
A little bit stubborn
A whole lot brave
You take my back
I take your side
It’s you and me
For this whole ride

When the whole world’s pushing
We’ll stand our ground
Love ain’t just words
It’s showing up now
If they ask what forever looks like…
It looks like
Grit and Grace.

You’ve seen mascara mixed with rain
Held my hand through hurt and pain
You never tried to fix my heart
You just stayed.

You’ve called me out when I was wrong
Still believed when I’d gone too long
You’re my biggest fan…
And my toughest coach.

I’ll fight beside you…
I’ll stand behind you…
I’ll tell the truth…
Even when it cuts…
Because real love
Isn’t finding someone perfect…
It’s finding somebody
Worth fighting for.

(Alt) Dust and diamonds
Strong enough to bend
Too proud to break
You lift me up
I pull you through
Every mountain’s smaller
Standing next to you
We’re not against each other…
We’re against whatever comes.
That’s what forever does.

We’re…
Grit and Grace.

Man His Father Should Have Been

Plays: 0
Backstory
This is the story of Chris Stapleton's life. His grandfather died when his father was nine. Then his father died when Chris was in his early 30s. I wrote this after learning/researching his story. I'm a bestselling author/ghostwriter and I write for some of our nation's most prestigious leaders. Research is much of what I do in order to fulfill that role.
Lyrics
He was born in 1946
In coal-rich Appalachia
Where clay mixed with coal dust
And hope was as thin as paper
His daddy died when he was nine
Leaving him the man in charge
But no boy should carry the weight of a man
In a hollow cut so harsh

He became the man
His father should have been
He became the dad
He never knew
No medals won
No riches in the end
He gave the greatest gift of all
He was, the man his father should have been….

There were three mouths to feed
By the time I came along,
He worked overtime to pay the bills
And keep the lights on.
He never missed a Friday night,
In the bleachers by momma’s side
Calloused hands clappin’ loud,
Beaming with pride.

The greatest gift a man can give
Is the love he never knew
To give his child the very thing
Life has kept from giving you…

I was only thirty-five
When my father died
I can see him in me
Sittin’ here looking at you…

I hope to become the man
My father should have been
Became the dad
I’ll never know….

He gave the greatest give of all
He was, the man his father should have been….

He gave the greatest give of all
He was, the man his father should have been….

Her Father's Heart

Plays: 0
Backstory
It's always the kids....
Lyrics
We made a miracle between us
She’s sleeping right down the hall
Surrounded by her coloring books
Her teddy bears and her dolls
So when you say there’s no love left between us
I can’t help but disagree
She’s not just a part of you
She’s a part of me

She’s got your eyes
She's got your nose
She'll be the spitting image of you
As she grows
But if you walk out with her
You'll tear my world apart
She may have your smile
But she has her daddy's heart

I’d never ask you to stay with me
When you love another man
But what you’re asking me to do right now
Is something I just can’t
I know she needs her momma
But she needs her daddy too
And there’s not another man
Who can substitute

Chorus

When she reaches for my hand
And says, “Daddy, please don’t leave,”
How do I explain to her
How it’s killing me?

Chorus

She’s got her daddy’s heart
Yeah, she’s got her daddy’s heart...

Waking Up Next to You

Plays: 0
Backstory
Wrote years ago about my dream mate....
Lyrics
My day is overflowing
With things I have to do
Everybody asks me
How I smile the whole day through
How is it they all want to know
That I’m never blue
I tell them it's because
I wake up next to you

Each night as we lay down to sleep
I thank the Lord that you’re next to me
And tell Him there ain’t nothing I won’t do
If He’ll make sure every morning
I wake up next to you

All my late-night single friends
Haven’t got a clue
With so many pretty women
How am I so true
I smile and tell them all
If you only knew
How wonderful it is
Waking up next to you

Each night as we lay down to sleep
I thank the Lord that you’re next to me
And tell Him there ain’t nothing I won’t do
If He’ll make sure every morning
I wake up next to you
You say you’re the lucky one
I make you feel brand-new
But life couldn’t get any better
Than waking up next to you

Chorus

Life couldn’t get any better
Than waking up next to you…

My story
Lyrics
I look in the mirror, Lord
Some you see
Some you don’t
The world walks by
Without love, throwing stones

I can’t hide them
Wouldn’t if I could
The more I’ve tried to explain
The more I’ve felt misunderstood

Chorus
Scars
Deep and wide
Scars
Paid the price
On a hill called Calvary
For the world and for me
Scars
Left to see
Where love rescued me
Scars

We throw stones, Lord
Like their dust
Living in glass
Causing wounds
At every turn, at every glance

If we could see the war
Hidden in other’s hearts
Would we hold our words
And put away our swords

Scars
Deep and wide
Scars
Paid the price
On a hill called Calvary
For the world and for me
Scars
Left to see
Where love rescued me
Scars

Bridge
Give Your children eyes to see
Your heart and Your will
To love one another
So the Body of Christ can heal

Paid the price
On a hill called Calvary
For the world and for me

Left to see
Where love rescued me

In Spades

Plays: 0
Backstory
A guy said this to me...I miss you in spades.
Lyrics
Thought I saw you today
In a crowded bar
Every part of me froze
Except the beating of my heart
And I can still smell your perfume
On the letters you wrote me
And if I close my eyes
I can almost touch our memories

Chorus
I still reach across the bed for you
In my sleep I call your name
I wait by the door
Listen for your ring
Baby, if you wonder if I miss you
Oh yeah
In spades

I played my hand wrong
I know I let you down
But I'd bet all I have now
To have one more shot with you

I still reach across the bed for you
In my sleep I call your name
I wait by the door
Listen for your ring
Baby, if you wonder if I miss you
Oh yeah
In spades

Regret can make a man confess
To the sins he's tried to hide
Can bring a strong man to his knees
And strip away his pride

I still reach across the bed for you
In my sleep I call your name
I wait by the door
Listen for your ring
Baby, if you wonder if I miss you
Oh yeah
In spades

Baby, if you wonder if I miss you
Oh yeah
In spades

Oh yeah, baby
I miss you
In spades

Blue Sapphire

Plays: 0
Backstory
A guy said I had eyes like "blue sapphires" and I love Bob Seger, so, this song came to me....at 2:00 AM.
Lyrics
Met her the summer I turned eighteen
Young and restless
A preacher’s daughter
Making a believer out of me
Parked on a dirt road
In the cool night’s breeze
Caught up in vows
Our bodies couldn’t keep

She had eyes like blue sapphire
Hair the color of summer wheat
She took my hand
And soothed my desire
That girl made a man out of me
Afraid I’d be burned
By the warmth of her fire
It’s my greatest regret
Oh, yeah, I walked away
From blue sapphire

I left her crying
In a crowded terminal
Whispering promises
I couldn’t keep
We both moved on
But she always stayed with me
Especially whenever I dream

Once in a lifetime
A man’s lucky to find
A woman that fine

She had eyes like blue sapphire
Hair the color of summer wheat
She took my hand
And soothed my desire
That girl made a man out of me
Yeah, that summer, that girl…

Chorus

Oh, yeah,
Don’t walk away
From blue sapphire

Burning Down the House

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Started with a slammed car door
One more fight like a hundred more
Two hearts shattered on the kitchen floor
Neither one knows what we were fighting for
Tension moves into every room
Love got crowded out by pain too soon
Amazing how a home can disappear
While the walls are still standing there

No smoke...
No flames...
But everything's about to change...

We're burning the house down
One angry word at a time
One broken promise
One crossed line
One little lie turns a spark into a blaze
Till love can't find its way
Back through the ashes now
It ain't the wood...
It ain't the paint...
It's the pride and the blame
It's gonna all go up in flames
If we don't turn this thing around
Yeah, baby,
We're burning the house down.

Pictures hanging on the wall
Watch two stubborn people letting forever fall
A little girl pulls her blanket tight
Praying Mom and Daddy make it through tonight
The dog's hiding under the bed...
Friends won't call and the fire spreads...
Everybody knows, but nobody says
You can't undo what's been done and said

Funny thing about a fire...
It don't care who's right
It don't stop at one heart
It don't stay in one room at night

By the time you finally reach
For a bucket full of grace...
Everything you built together
May already be too late.
We're burning down the house
With every word we don't take back
Every door we slam
All the love we lack

If these walls could talk, Lord, they'd beg us both somehow.....
Put this fire out...'Cause we're burning down the house...

A Thousand Little Goodbyes

Plays: 0
Lyrics
It wasn't slamming doors or one last fight
No packed-up boxes in the middle of the night
It started somewhere neither one of us could trace
Like two old pictures slowly losing color in the frame
Those deep, soulful kisses got shorter every day
We stopped asking the important questions,
About one another’s day
Love didn't leave all at once that night...

Looking back, I see it now...

It wasn't one last goodbye that broke my heart
It was a thousand little goodbyes
I felt in the dark
One empty chair at the table...
One silent ride...
One less reason to say “I love you, goodnight"
One coffee cup... one lonely side...
One less hand reaching over in the night
Love doesn't always wave before it flies...
Sometimes forever leaves
A thousand little goodbyes…

You quit stealing fries off my plate
I quit laughing when you'd show up late
The TV talked more than we did
The porch light burned but you stayed out
We knew every reason
Not to work it out
Funny how you can share the same address
As strangers who were once so passionate

Nobody wakes up planning not to care
It happens somewhere between "I'll call you later"
And never getting there
Maybe hearts don't break...They disappear...
One tiny piece...One day...One year...
At a time.

Chorus

Before a Bad Goodbye

Plays: 0
Lyrics
We don't slam doors, we just shut down
Your side of the bed's been getting colder now
We're still saying "love you" out of habit, I suppose
But somewhere along the way... we quit meaning what we know

We could wait until we're strangers...
Or we could be brave tonight...

Let's leave before a bad goodbye
Before our love learns to lie,
Before forever turns into “why”
Before angry words become our last reply
Before every photograph is marred by sighs,
Before the kids remember all the tears instead of smiles
Let's walk away while there's still grace
Before we hate what time can't erase
Let's leave while there's still something worth saving...
Before a bad goodbye.

I still know how you take your coffee
You still know when I'm faking "I'm okay"
Maybe that's enough to remind us
That love deserves a softer ending than this

Some people burn the whole house down
Just to prove somebody started the fire
I'd rather carry the ache...
Than the ashes.

Let's leave before a bad goodbye
While "I love you" still sounds true tonight
Before forgiveness has to climb through all the damage pride can hide
I'd rather thank God that we happened
Than curse the day we came apart
Some endings don't have to become a war
Let's leave...Before a bad goodbye.

I Miss Our Ordinary

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I know you're chasing dreams for us
Working late and doing what you do
The mortgage got paid, the kids grew up
And somehow we made it through
But somewhere between the overtime
The soccer games and deadlines too
We quit finding little moments...
That used to find just me and you
Pre-Chorus
I'm not asking for the moon...
Just something we already had.
Chorus
Baby, I miss our ordinary
Coffee on the front porch swing
Laughing with me by the kitchen sink
Making up songs that we couldn't sing
I miss your hand reaching over
At every red light naturally
You gave me everything I ever wanted...
Baby... I just miss our ordinary.
Verse 2
Remember dancin’ with me in the kitchen
While the biscuits burned again?
You'd spin me 'round in stocking feet
Like we were nineteen back then
Now we're passing like two strangers
Checking calendars instead
Sleeping in the very same bed...
But living in our heads
Pre-Chorus
I don't need another honeymoon...
Just one Tuesday night with you.
Chorus
Baby, I miss our ordinary
Laughing till the whole house shook
Watching storms roll through the windows
While you pretended you could cook
I miss the little things you never knew
Were everything to me
You gave me all my favorite memories...
Baby... I miss our ordinary.

Bridge
Someday all this busy's gonna slow down
These schedules won't remember our names
And I'd hate to wake up with forever...
Wondering where forever came.
Final Chorus
Baby, I miss our ordinary
The life we almost didn't see
The ordinary days God gave us
Turned out extraordinary
So tonight let's leave the dishes
Turn the TV off and just be
Let's fall back into the little things...
That made you...
You...
Made me...
Me...
**Baby...
I miss our ordinary.**

Sacrifices (Dad's Song)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
You'd leave before the sun came up
With a duffel bag and a prayer
Mom would smile and tell us kids
"Your daddy's doing good somewhere"
I counted birthdays, Christmases
Wondered why you had to go
Never knew the weight you carried
Or the things you'd never show
Pre-Chorus
You wore the flag upon your sleeve
The burden in your eyes
Chorus
Sacrifices...
The ones nobody ever sees
Trading years with the ones you love
For nights that steal your sleep
You saw things that scarred your soul
Made sacrifices I'll never know
Now every freedom that I hold
Was bought by your sacrifices
Verse 2
Now I catch myself in your old boots
Looking at these kids of mine
Wondering if I'd have had your courage
To leave them all behind
Pictures fade but memories don't
Some battles never end
Heroes don't always come home broken
Sometimes they just don't let us in
Bridge
The war came home inside your heart
Though you never spoke its name
You fought another battle here
And loved us just the same
No parade could ever thank you
No folded flag explains
How a father keeps on smiling
While carrying that pain
Final Chorus
Sacrifices...
Not measured by the medals won
But every tear you never cried
Every mile you had to run
You saw things that scarred your soul
Made sacrifices I'll never know
If I stand a little stronger now
It's because of your sacrifices

Slow Burn

Plays: 1
Lyrics
Everybody wants a wildfire
That lights up the whole night sky
A spark that burns so hot and fast
You never wonder why
But flames that dance the highest
Fade into the dark
The strongest kind of love I've known
Starts with just one spark

Pre-Chorus
It ain't loud...
It ain't rushed...
It don't have to prove a thing.

Chorus
It's a slow burn
Like oak beneath the flame
Getting stronger with every season
Never needing all the praise
It's Sunday morning coffee
It's your hands wrapped up in mine
It's staying when it's hard
A love that's gently earned
Everybody's chasing fireworks...
I'll take a slow burn.

Verse 2
The wrinkles tell our story now
Better than photographs
We've learned forgiveness matters more
Than getting in the last laugh
The house ain't always quiet
Lord knows we've had our storms
But every winter somehow finds
Two hearts still keeping warm

Bridge
Someday they'll lay these old bones down
And put our names in stone
If anybody asks what love looks like
Tell 'em...
It was a flame we fed at home.

Final Chorus
It's a slow burn
A lifetime in one kiss
Not the kind they write in storybooks
The kind the good Lord gives
When all the smoke has settled
One truth will still remain
The hottest fires burn out...
The deepest ones sustain.

It's a slow burn.

Just Needs Duct Tape

Plays: 0
Backstory
My boyfriend said this to me...
Lyrics
Something's draggin' underneath my Chevy
Throwin' sparks halfway through town
Buddy said, "You oughta tow that thing."
I said, "It just needs silver all around"
Wrapped it twice around the muffler
Smacked the bumper with my boot
If it lasts until next Friday...
Well, that's what heavens glue is made to do.

Folks spend money...But that's not where I put my faith

It ain't broke...
It just needs duct tape.
If it's rattlin', leakin',
Cracked or misshaped.
From a busted lawn chair
To the handle on the gate.
Round here we don't replace nothin'...
It ain't broke—It just needs duct tape.

The wife yelled, "The dishwasher quit, time to go to the mall,"
I said, "Baby, hold your horses, where's the roll?"
She said, "You can't fix appliances with tape
It's just not that strong."
I said, "Darlin', Watch me prove you wrong."
Now the door don't open fully...
But it washes just the same.
Sure, it leaks across the kitchen...
But we call that moppin' rain.

Screen door's got a brand-new window.
Dog chewed up the TV remote.
Neighbor laughed until his trailer
Lost its gutter in the storm.
Guess who came a-knockin'
Asking if I'd save the day?
I smiled...Reached behind the toolbox...
"And grabbed a roll of that silver tape."

Some folks trust mechanics.
Some folks trust engineers.
Me? I trust that roll
I've been carryin' twenty years.

(Alt) Marriage...Tailgate...Beer cooler...Rake.

If Noah built the ark today
You know where he'd put his faith.
Half of it would be gopher wood...
The other half duct tape!
It ain't broke...
It just needs duct tape.

Been There Done That

Plays: 1
Backstory
Just came to me while driving around.
Lyrics
You walked in with whiskey and a wounded smile
Been watchin me watch you for awhile
Now You’re leanin’ in close
Ready to make your move
But there’s something in your eyes
A look about you
Like somebody left and took the best part too
You’re saying all the right things
But I see that heartbreak
And know what that brings

Chorus
I can read you like a book
Know every chapter
Don’t have to skip ahead
To know what happens after
It’s written all over your face
Underneath that Stetson hat
I don’t need a crystal ball to tell me
Where you’re at
Don’t need to call your ex, talk to your momma
Don’t need Freud and a couch
To figure out your drama
I’ve seen this movie
Learned the lesson,
Got the scars to match
Been there, done that

Verse 2
You’re looking for a little somebody
To take your mind off her
Thinking waking up with me
After a little neon, tequila,
And skin on skin
Might make the hurting top ‘till morning kicks in
But I know that road and where it leads
You don’t want me
You’re just in need
Her number’s in your phone
Her memories in your head
I won’t be the answer in your bed

Bridge
Ain’t no judgment, boy,
I’ve been there myself
Tried getting over somebody with somebody else
But a hookup ain’t gonna heal
What she broke in you
Don’t think I can't see
Where your heart is at…
Been there, done that

Chorus
I can read you like a book
Know every chapter
Don’t have to skip ahead
To know what happens after
It’s written all over your face Underneath that Stetson hat
I don’t need a crystal ball to tell me
Where you’re at
Don’t need to call your ex, talk to your momma
Don’t need Freud and a couch
To figure out your drama
I’ve seen this movie
Learned the lesson,
Got the scars to match
Been there, done that

Don’t have to skip ahead
To know what happens after

Let Them Call Me Crazy

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Everybody’s got a story
‘Bout the hell you’ve put ‘em through
They hand me all your red flags
Like they’re tellin’ me something new
But I’ve seen you when the room gets quiet
I’ve seen a side they never learned

Chorus
So let them call me crazy
Let ‘em say I’ve lost my mind
Let ‘em tell me I’m gonna regret it
That I’m walking in here blind
Maybe loving you won’t save me
Maybe they’re right, maybe
But if believing in you is insane
Let them call me crazy

Verse 2
I’ve seen your hands shake in the darkness
Heard the truth that sets you free
I’ve watched you drop that tough-guy armor
When you thought nobody else could see
The man they swear they know so well
Ain’t the man you are with me

Chorus
So let them call me crazy
Let ‘em say I’ve lost my mind
Let ‘em tell me I’m gonna regret it
That I’m walking in here blind
Maybe loving you won’t save me
Maybe they’re right, maybe
But if believing in you is insane
Let them call me crazy

Bridge
Maybe I know something they don’t
Maybe love ain’t blind at all
Maybe I see every flaw
And I still see what nobody else can see

Final Chorus
So let them call me crazy
Let ‘em say I’ve lost my mind
Let ‘em tell me I’m gonna regret it
That I’m walking in here blind
Maybe loving you won’t save me
Maybe they’re right, maybe
But if believing in you is insane
Let them call me crazy

Yeah, let them call me crazy

Perfect

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Friday night all the girls at my place
Lipstick, high heels, fixing our hair
One last look in the hallway mirror
Couldn't see a flaw anywhere
We laughed and said, “Damn, we look perfect”
Then walked out like we owned the world
Mama said you won’t find perfect down there
But I wasn’t listening to Mama
I was out with the girls

I met you underneath a neon light
Not a church pew, not a Sunday prayer
You smiled at me across that bar
And every red flag disappeared
You looked perfect from where I was standin’
And I wanted what I thought I saw from there

Then everybody said we were perfect
Perfect house, perfect love, perfect life
So I learned to fill the cracks you made
And paint ‘em pretty, smooth them white
I got good at hiding what was hurting
Good at making wrong look right
But when everyone thinks you’re perfect
Is when you start living a lie
I gave everything I had to hold it
‘Till there wasn’t much of me left whole
Yeah, we sure looked good from the outside
But perfect took its toll on my soul

Maybe love ain’t never been about
Making every wrong look whole
Maybe grace is walking out the door
Once looking flawless took its toll

Chorus

Maybe perfect means something different
Thank pretending nothing broke

Your Hoodie Smells Like Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
Every girl knows this story....
Lyrics
Found it in the backseat
When I cleaned out my car.
Thought I'd throw it in a box
With every other broken part.
I pulled it over my shoulders
Just to make it through one more night.
Funny how goodbye
Can still fit just right.

It used to smell like your cologne,
Cheap whiskey and midnight drives.
I held onto that fabric
Like I could hold onto our life.

Your hoodie finally smells like me.
No trace of your old cologne,
Just my perfume, My shampoo,
My Saturday mornings alone.
I guess somewhere between
The tears and the laundry,
I washed away, Everything we used to be.
Your hoodie finally smells like me...
And somehow...
That smells like freedom.

I almost gave it to Goodwill,
Had it halfway to the door.
Then I caught myself smiling—
Didn't need to hurt anymore.
It's just an old gray sweatshirt,
A little faded at the seams.
Funny how healing
Can hide inside little things.

Never thought moving on
Would happen this quietly.
No fireworks. No grand goodbye.
Just one ordinary afternoon
When I realized... I couldn't remember
What you smelled like.

(Alt) No ghosts left in the cotton,
No shadows in the sleeves.
It fits a little different now—
Kind of like my heart.
Turns out time
Doesn't always shout.
Sometimes...
It whispers…Your hoodie finally smells like me.
Guess that means
I'm finally home.

I almost gave it back...Now I think I'll keep it.
Not because it reminds me of you...Because it reminds me...
I made it through.

I Wasn't So Hard to Love

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I got real good at saying, "I'm sorry,"
Even when it wasn't my mistake.
Learned to make myself a little smaller,
Just to keep the peace from breaking.
I thought love was walking on eggshells,
Reading every change in your eyes.
Spent so long trying to earn forever,
I forgot love wasn't supposed to feel like a prize.

You called me "too much."
Too loud,.too sensitive.
Funny...I started believing you.
It turns out I wasn't so hard to love.
I was just giving my heart
To someone who couldn't hold enough.
Now somebody reaches for my hand
Instead of pulling away.

He doesn't make me question
What I did wrong today.
Turns out I wasn't asking
For too much...
I was asking
The wrong one
It turns out...I wasn't so hard to love.
Now I leave my makeup on the counter,
I laugh a little louder than before.
I don't apologize for crying,
Or dancing barefoot on the kitchen floor.

Funny how the girl you tried to fix
Didn't need fixing after all.
She just needed somebody
Who'd catch her when she'd fall.
Love quit feeling
Like an audition.
And finally started
Feeling like home.
Maybe the hardest part
Wasn't losing you.
Maybe it was
Believing your version of me.
You handed me a mirror
Made of your own fears...
And I spent years
Thinking that reflection
Was who I really was.

(Alt) I was never broken...
Just bruised enough
To believe I was.
Now every scar
Looks different somehow.
Not because they've disappeared...
But because they finally found
A little grace.
Turns out…The problem wasn't my heart.
It was where I left it.
It turns out...I wasn't so hard to love.

I spent years
Trying to become
Someone easier to love.
Turns out...
I already was.

Lipstick on a Shot Glass

Plays: 0
Backstory
I'm an author/ghostwriter who has done multiple tours....this is my story.
Lyrics
There's a little dive bar off Exit 19,
Same old jukebox, same old neon dream.
I drew a red goodbye on the rim of a glass,
Paid my tab and swore this town'd be my last.
Windows down, midnight air,
Headlights cutting through a county fair.
I keep chasing lines on a yellow road,
But memories travel lighter than a load.

Pre-Chorus
I keep changing towns,
Changing names on receipts.
Funny how my heart
Always finds me.

Chorus
Lipstick on a shot glass,
Tears on the dashboard.
Every little town's got another version of my heart.
One left in Oklahoma,
One somewhere in Tennessee.
One still dancing with the girl
I used to be.
Every mile I leave behind
Leaves another scar...
Every little town's got another version of my heart.

Verse 2
There's a waitress somewhere who still knows my name,
A bartender wondering why I never came.
A motel Bible with a folded page,
And a prayer I couldn't find the words to say.
I kept thinking distance
Could erase goodbye.
Turns out every highway
Just gives it more sky.

Bridge
Maybe home ain't a place...
Maybe home is the day
I quit running from the woman
Looking back my way.

Chorus
Lipstick on a shot glass,
Hope in the rearview.
Every little town taught me something I never knew.
You can leave your footprints,
Leave your last goodbye...
But sooner or later,
You stop driving—
And finally arrive.

Lipstick on a shot glass...
No more tears on the dashboard.
I finally found
The last version of my heart.

You Loved the Fire

Plays: 0
Backstory
The men in successful women's lives....
Lyrics
You said you liked a wild heart,
Said I was one of a kind.
Loved my spark, loved my laugh,
Loved that stubborn streak of mine.
You called me your wildfire,
Your lightning in the rain.
Funny how your favorite thing
Became the one you'd blame.

Pre-Chorus
You wanted a woman
Who'd light up the night.
Just never thought she'd shine
Brighter than your pride.

Chorus
Ain't that a shame...
You loved the fire
'Til it burned your name.
You loved the heat,
The reckless flame.
You wanted the spark...
Without the blaze
Now all that's left
Is smoke and rain.
Ain't that a shame...
You loved the fire
'Til it burned your name.

Verse 2
You cheered me from the front row
When the whole town knew my face.
Then somewhere in the applause,
You started losing your place.
Turns out admiration's easy
When the spotlight feels like yours.
It's harder when the woman you love
Starts opening her own doors.

Pre-Chorus
You said, "Go chase your dreams."
I finally did.
Guess you never pictured
What success might look like.

Chorus
Ain't that a shame...
You loved the fire
'Til it burned your name.
You loved the climb,
The hunger, the fight.
You just couldn't stand
What happened when I reached the light.
Now the ashes tell
The truth you couldn't face.
Ain't that a shame...
You loved the fire
'Til it burned your name.

Bridge
Fire never lies.
It warms...
Or it reveals.
The ones who can stand beside it...
And the ones who run when it gets real.

Final Chorus
Ain't that a shame...
You loved the fire
'Til it burned your name.
You wanted passion,
Not the price.
You wanted forever...
On your terms.
Now I'm dancing
In the flames
You couldn't survive.
Ain't that a shame...
You loved the fire...
'Til it burned your name.

You called me your wildfire...
Guess you should've known...
Fire don't apologize.

In the Mood

Backstory
Women are always "in a mood"!
Lyrics
Sun on my face
Ocean on my body
Salt on my lips
And you’re looking like a party
Sand between my toes
Prince pumping through the air
You pull your shirt off slowly
Like you know I’m gonna stare

I’m tracing that new tattoo
Wondering where it leads
You catch me looking at you
And you know just what I mean

Temperature is rising
Nothing left to prove
Boy, the way you’re moving
Got me slipping in a—

Mood, mood
Boy, I’m in a mood
That summer on your skin
Got me wanting something new
Mood, mood
And it looks good on you
I could blame it on the sunshine
But we both know that’s not true
Come a little closer
Give me something I can’t lose
Boy, I’m in a mood
I’m in a mood
And it looks good on you

Ooh-ooh
I’m in a mood
Ooh-ooh
And it looks good on you
Ooh-ooh
Nothing left to prove
Tonight I’m in a—
I’m in a mood

Ice in my glass
Melting with the daylight
Your hand on my waist
Got me thinking past midnight
Bare feet on the deck
Pink burning through the blue
The whole world fades to rhythm
When I’m moving close to you

Pre-chorus & Chorus

Maybe it’s the heat wave
Maybe it’s the view
Maybe it’s the way the night
Keeps pushing me to you
Maybe it’s the bass line
Maybe it’s the moon
Maybe I don’t need a reason
Baby, I’m just in a mood

Sun on my face
Ocean on my body
Sand between my toes
And you’re looking like a party
Prince in the air
Your tattoo in my view
Don’t make me say it twice, boy—
I’m in a mood for you

Chorus

Ooh-ooh
I’m in a mood
Ooh-ooh
And it looks good on you
Sun going down
But we’re just getting started
Boy, I’m in a mood—
You know exactly what I’m wanting

For the Plot

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I know better, that’s never stopped me
You’re bad decisions in a white tee
Low-key know where this is going
High-key don’t care, keep it rolling
You’re not the one, you’re just tonight
A little wrong that feels just right
My friends say, “Girl, have you lost it?”
Maybe — but damn, you’re worth the gossip

Don’t need forever, don’t need a ring
Don’t make this more than a beautiful thing
If you’re wondering what we’ve got—

I don’t love you, boy
I’m doing it for the plot
Main character, baby
And you’re making this story hot
Maybe I’m delulu
But I like you a lot
Don’t need a happy ending
I’m doing it for the plot
You came, you saw
Boy, you ate that up
Ten outta ten
And you left no crumbs
Don’t call it love
‘Cause baby, it’s not
I’m just doing, doing, doing it
For the plot

You understood the assignment
No notes, baby, perfect timing
Caught a vibe somewhere past midnight
Now you’re living rent-free in my mind
You slide into my midnight
I slide right into your alibi
Are we forever? Absolutely not
But tonight? Boy—give me what you got

Don’t need promises, don’t need plans
Just that look and those two hands
If you’re wondering what we’ve got—

Chorus

Red flag?
I saw it.
Bad idea?
I bought it.
Caught feelings?
Maybe not.
Caught a vibe?
Oh, a lot.
Understood
The assignment.
No crumbs.
Perfect timing.
Call me savage
Call me unhinged
If this is a mistake—
I’d make it again.

Chorus (Alt):
You came, you saw
Boy, you ate that up
Ten outta ten
And you left no crumbs
Don’t call it love—
Wa (it… maybe, why not?
I started doing it for the plot
Now you’re becoming
The plot.

Understood the Assignment

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I didn’t have to spell it out
You read the room, you figured me out
One look and you knew the vibe
Didn’t need directions, read my mind
I came in thinking I’d play it cool
Then you went and broke every rule
Boy, whatever class you took
Put your name at the top of the book

No notes, no corrections
Straight-A kind of attention
I don’t know who taught you that
But baby, tell ’em I said congrats

Boy, you understood the assignment
Every little move, perfect timing
Ate that up, yeah, you did that right
Left no crumbs by the end of the night
Ten outta ten, no extra credit
You knew what I wanted before I said it
Call it chemistry, call it alignment
Boy, you understood the assignment

Ate — that — up
Left no crumbs
Ate — that — up
Yeah, you understood the assignment

Usually I’m hard to impress
Baby, you just passed that test
Didn’t come in talking a game
You let your actions say your name
Now I’m walking with a different glow
Got a little secret nobody knows
They keep asking why I look like that
I just smile like, “Baby, do the math”

No notes, no corrections
Straight-A kind of attention
Extra credit? Didn’t need it
Baby, you came prepared and exceeded

CHORUS

Did you eat?
Yeah, you ate.
Leave a crumb?
Not a trace.
Need a hint?
Not a chance.
Baby came
Advanced.

No notes.
No notes.
Baby, I got no notes.

CHORUS (ALT)
Ten outta ten and I’d recommend it
If there’s another round, I’m attending
Call it chemistry, perfect alignment
Boy, you understood—
You understood—
You understood the assignment.

Fighting the Jones

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Your words taunt me
That look in your eye
That no-so subtle invite
The move of your body
In the shadow of the night

Baby, I've fighting the Jones
Just to be alone with you
To hear your deep groan
Echo inside of me
To feel your bones
Rattling like a decree
Boy, I've got the Jones for you,
Please set me free

You left at daybreak
To catch a plane
Leaving me wide awake
Craving an earthquake
I could taste you
On my own sweat
You left behind on me
Like a bettor's debt

Chorus

Baby, put an end to your memory
Or put me out of my misery
End this woman's pain
Or bring me relief

Chorus

Baby,
I've got the Jones for you,
Please, baby, please baby, please -
Set me free...

Miss You Baby

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I feel the burn of your whiskers
From rubbing against my face
Leaving a stir within me
That can't be soothed into place

Holding onto the Queen of hearts
You left to mark your place
In a journal you wrote to me
With the king of spades

Chorus
I miss you, baby,
In the empty space you used to keep
The echo of your presence
Still lingers throughout me
Like a flower needs the sun
As deep cries out for deep,
I miss you, baby,
Like the other half of me.

Fate made all the choices
For everyone involved
Leaving nothing but emptiness
Where there was once great love

The more I try to hold onto you
The more your memory fades
I didn't mean to push you, baby
Until you went away

I miss you, baby,
In the empty space you used to keep
The echo of your presence
Still lingers throughout me
Like a flower needs the sun
As deep cries out for deep,
I miss you, baby,
Like the other half of me.

As deep cries out for deep
I miss you, baby,
Oh, I miss you, baby
You took the other half of me

As I reflected
Saw what I was searching for

I'm falling.....In la, la, love
With you...Baby, I'm a gonna
Land this feeling'
And plant roots
You're the only one
I wanna pursue
Girl, 'cause
I'm falling...
In la, la, love, with you...

Resurrected
You brought me
To life once more
Protected
In your arms
I'm not scared no more
Respected
In a way
I've never known before

Chorus

Every wall I built for years
Melted in your atmosphere
Now every road I've ever known
Leads me right back to your home

I'm falling...
In la, la, love
With you...

Boy Don't Even Try

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Boy, I saw you coming
With that mischievous grin.
Buying everybody drinks,
Practicing those lines again.
You leaned in
Like I hadn't heard
That "girl, you're beautiful"
A thousand times before.
Boy, you're cute...
I'll give you that.
But if this is just another game...
If this is just for the chase…

You can save
Your smooth-talking,
Fast-walking,
One-track mind...

Boy, if you're not lookin' for forever,
A woman to be your wife.
If all you're chasin' is a Friday night,
Don't waste my time.
If you ain't the marrying kind
Who's still gonna love me
Once the butterflies fly...
Boy, if you're not lookin' for forever...
Don't even try.

I ain't playing hard to get.
I'm just hard to keep.
'Cause my mama raised a girl
Who don't settle cheap.
You'll have to earn
Every little kiss.
This heart ain't
On a clearance list.

I'm not waiting
On Prince Charming...
Just a man
Who keeps his word.

Chorus

One day
Some lucky man
Is gonna call my heart "home."
So if your plans
Don't reach that far...
Boy...
Keep moving on.

Chorus

I Close My Eyes

Plays: 0
Lyrics
It's been ten years now
Since heaven called your name
Folks say time keeps moving on
But my heart don’t count that way
‘Cause every little thing reminds me
Like you never said goodbye
You’re never more than one heartbeat away…

It don’t take much
Just one old song
A photograph… a summer breeze…

I just close my eyes
And you come alive
I can see that smile
Like the morning light
I can hear your laughter
Dancing through the room
Feel your hand upon my shoulder
Like you never really moved
Love don’t end
It just changes skies
I just close my eyes…
And you come alive.

Sometimes I catch myself laughing
At a joke you’d probably tell
Sometimes I hear your favorite saying
Ringing like a Sunday bell
The years may keep on adding up
But they can’t erase your face
Some hearts never leave…

They say goodbye is forever
I don’t think that’s true
Every memory’s another doorway
Leading right back to you
So until the day we meet again
I’ll never be alone…

(Alt) Every tear becomes a thank-you
Every memory shines
I can hear your laughter
Like it never went away
Love outlives the goodbye
That’s what my heart still says
Heaven may have called your name
But you’re still in this life…
Every time…
I close my eyes.

Backstory
Listen to the end. This is a cinematic country story song, not unlike, "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" "Two Black Cadillacs" "Choctaw Country Affair"
"Gunpowder and Lead" and "Goodbye Earl". This story comes straight from my childhood (well, almost).
Lyrics
My daddy was a looker
With a silver tongue
Momma was an Irish farmer’s wife
With a love for guns
He was warned more times than not
Her aim was true as sin

Momma found him in the bedroom
Beneath her sister’s spell
With an ounce of pressure
He turned red
Like Jackie’s pink Chanel

Chorus
Oh, he had it comin’
Saw it with my own eyes
A woman rather eliminate the problem
Than sit around and cry
Man, you know he had it comin’
Yeah, runnin’ out of time

Momma found me in my bedroom
When we set the plan in place
Lipstick on an Irish Whiskey bottle
With a calm look on her face
Momma handed me cold steel
Farmer’s daughters don’t aim to miss
I didn’t need no whiskey
To send that man to hell

Oh, he had it comin’
Saw it with my own eyes
A girl’d rather eliminate daddy’s touches
Than sit around and cry
Man, you know he had it comin’
Yeah, runnin’ out of time

Daddy to the graveyard
Momma to the prison to hang
I raised my father’s child
With my aunt’s last name

I ain’t one to say two wrongs make a right
But the devil wore a badge in our town that night
Three broken women pulled together by pain
Keepin’ our story straight knowing justice never came…
‘Cause when your daddy’s the law
Justice never comes to call

You know he had it comin’
Saw it with my own eyes
Women rather eliminate the problem
Than sit around and cry
Man, you know he had it comin’
Yeah, runnin’ out of time

Man, you know he had it comin’
Yeah, runnin’ out of time

Let Them Call Me Crazy - Christian

Backstory
Literally what my friends told me when I got saved November 2, 1993.
Lyrics
Everybody’s got a story
’Bout the person I’ve been
They remember every wrong turn
Every place that I’ve been
They say, “People don’t change that easy”
“You’ll be back there before too long”
But they weren’t there when mercy found me
And turned my whole life around

So let them call me crazy
Let ’em say I’ve lost my mind
Let ’em tell me I’m gonna regret it
That I’m walking in here blind
They can say this Jesus won’t save me
Say it’s all in my mind, maybe
But if believing in Him is insane
Let them call me crazy

They knew my hands shook in the darkness
They knew the chains I couldn’t break
But they didn’t see me on my knees
When I finally called His name
They can swear they know me so well
From everything I used to be
But the person that they remember
Ain’t the one He sees in me

Chorus

Maybe I know something they don’t
Maybe faith ain’t blind at all
Maybe grace can take a sinner
And make somebody new from all the broken parts
I know what I was
I know what I’ve become
And nobody has to understand
What Jesus has done

Chorus

Yeah, let them call me crazy
I know who changed my life

God Saw It Comin'

Lyrics
I should have called that girl on TikTok
The one who reads your future for twenty bucks.
Maybe she’d have told me
What you said you didn’t see

Could’ve ask the lady with the crystals
The palm reader downtown.
Could’ve thrown some pennies in a wishing well
Watched them sink to the bare ground.

Everybody’s got preminations now
Cause everyone knew around town
Everybody but me…

You said it just happened.
Your heart woke up different.
Like lighting struck out of a blue sky.
Said nobody could’ve known,
Nobody saw the signs,
Not even God saw it coming…
Yeah…nice try.

‘Cause you don’t wake up one day
And stop loving somebody.
You were leaving long before you left-
You just need me to buy it.
You can sell that story to a stranger
But it ain’t fooling me.
You can say even God didn’t see it coming…
But He ain’t the one who lied to me.

Maybe I should’ve called your mama.
Bet she’d have known before I did.
Or your best friend who suddenly
Couldn’t look me in the eye.

Funny how everybody
Seems shocked when they’re around me
Then they look at you…
Like they’ve known for weeks.

I took you home to Mama on a Sunday
Daddy shook your hand out by the drive
You said all the right things at the dinner table

Even my brother said you seemed alright
Yeah, you always knew just how to make ’em love you
You were good at looking good from the outside

Yeah, everybody loved you
Till I learned what loving you was worth
Funny how the prettiest lies
Live right there on the surface

Verse 2
You’d hold my hand when we were out in public
Pull my chair and open every door
Then we’d get back home and you’d turn into someone
I didn’t recognize anymore
I spent so long defending your reflection
Making excuses for the cracks beneath
‘Cause when everybody tells you that you’re lucky
It’s hard to tell ‘em what they couldn’t see

Somebody Else's Problem Now

Plays: 0
Lyrics
You never met a mirror
You didn't stop and admire.
Always twenty minutes late,
But somehow that was my fault every time.
You'd lose your keys, your wallet,
Your temper every week.
Then call me asking where they were...
Like I packed 'em when I leave.

Pre-Chorus
I used to think
It was my job
To keep your world from falling apart.
Turns out...
That wasn't love.
That was overtime.

Chorus
You're somebody else's problem now.
She can answer all your midnight calls,
Listen to the same old stories,
Watch you blame the world for it all.
She can chase your promises,
Pick up what you keep putting down.
I wish her luck...
Lord knows she'll need enough.
'Cause you're somebody else's problem now.

Verse 2
You still think saying "my bad"
Counts as changing your ways.
Still collecting second chances
Like they're trophies on a shelf.
Hope she likes apologizing
To waiters and your friends.
Hope she enjoys hearing,
"Baby... it'll be different next weekend."

Pre-Chorus
I don't miss
Fixing everything
You never planned to fix yourself.

Chorus
You're somebody else's problem now.
She can memorize your excuses,
Laugh at jokes she's heard before,
Wonder what she's apologizing for.
I'm not bitter.
Just relieved.
Funny how freedom
Looks so good on me.
You're somebody else's problem now.

Bridge
Don't get me wrong...
I hope you grow.
I hope someday
You become the man
You always promised me.
I just hope
It ain't my turn
To wait around
And see.

Final Chorus
You're somebody else's problem now.
I traded chaos
For a little peace and quiet.
Turns out
Love ain't supposed to feel
Like a full-time job.
Here's to sleeping through the night,
Keeping both my sanity
And my weekends.
If she asks about me...
Tell her thanks.
She set me free.
You're somebody else's problem now.

Not my circus.
Not my clown.
You're somebody else's...
Problem now.

Lyrics
Friday night, another first date
Another “Girl, he’s different” lie
By midnight he was gone
By one, I was on aisle five

Bought a little lime, a bag of ice
Like I already knew the drill
The only one who wakes up beside me
Was waiting on that shelf.

Mama says,
“One day you’ll find the right one…”
Until then…

José Cuervo,
You're my first love
You never judge when my mascara runs
Or these heartbroken words.
Found my boots in the hallway,
My dress by the bed.
Can’t remember where I left my pride…
But I know where you left my head.
José Cuervo…
You ain’t good for me…
But somehow you're the one who loves me
More than any man I’ve seen.

Found my bra hanging on the lamp
One heel underneath the couch
My girlfriends call it poor decisions
I just call it working things out.

You’re my rebound relationship
My temporary Mr. Right
The one I swear I’m leaving
Every Sunday at morning light.

One day I’ll meet a man
Who loves me more than ninety proof.
Till then I’ll keep on slow dancing
With the only fool that tells the truth.

Lyrics
Everybody’s got a story
‘Bout the hell you’ve put ‘em through
They hand me all your red flags
Like they’re tellin’ me something new
But I’ve seen you when the room gets quiet
I’ve seen a side they never learned

Chorus
So let them call me crazy
Let ‘em say I’ve lost my mind
Let ‘em tell me I’m gonna regret it
That I’m walking in here blind
Maybe loving you won’t save me
Maybe they’re right, maybe
But if believing in you is insane
Let them call me crazy

Verse 2
I’ve seen your hands shake in the darkness
Heard the truth that sets you free
I’ve watched you drop that tough-guy armor
When you thought nobody else could see
The man they swear they know so well
Ain’t the man you are with me

Chorus
So let them call me crazy
Let ‘em say I’ve lost my mind
Let ‘em tell me I’m gonna regret it
That I’m walking in here blind
Maybe loving you won’t save me
Maybe they’re right, maybe
But if believing in you is insane
Let them call me crazy

Bridge
Maybe I know something they don’t
Maybe love ain’t blind at all
Maybe I see every flaw
And I still see what nobody else can see

Final Chorus
So let them call me crazy
Let ‘em say I’ve lost my mind
Let ‘em tell me I’m gonna regret it
That I’m walking in here blind
Maybe loving you won’t save me
Maybe they’re right, maybe
But if believing in you is insane

For the Plot (Acoustic)

Lyrics
I know better, that’s never stopped me
You’re bad decisions in a white tee
Low-key know where this is going
High-key don’t care, keep it rolling
You’re not the one, you’re just tonight
A little wrong that feels just right
My friends say, “Girl, have you lost it?”
Maybe — but damn, you’re worth the gossip

PRE-CHORUS
Don’t need forever, don’t need a ring
Don’t make this more than a beautiful thing
If you’re wondering what we’ve got—

CHORUS
I don’t love you, boy
I’m doing it for the plot
Main character, baby
And you’re making this story hot
Maybe I’m delulu
But I like you a lot
Don’t need a happy ending
I’m doing it for the plot

You came, you saw
Boy, you ate that up
Ten outta ten
And you left no crumbs
Don’t call it love
‘Cause baby, it’s not
I’m just doing, doing, doing it
For the plot

VERSE 2
You understood the assignment
No notes, baby, perfect timing
Caught a vibe somewhere past midnight
Now you’re living rent-free in my mind
You slide into my midnight
I slide right into your alibi
Are we forever? Absolutely not
But tonight? Boy—give me what you got

PRE-CHORUS
Don’t need promises, don’t need plans
Just that look and those two hands
If you’re wondering what we’ve got—

CHORUS
I don’t love you, boy
I’m doing it for the plot
Main character, baby
And you’re making this story hot
Maybe I’m delulu
But I like you a lot
Don’t need a happy ending
I’m doing it for the plot

You came, you saw
Boy, you ate that up
Ten outta ten
And you left no crumbs
Don’t call it love
‘Cause baby, it’s not
I’m just doing, doing, doing it
For the plot

BRIDGE / DANCE BREAK
Red flag?
I saw it.
Bad idea?
I bought it.
Caught feelings?
Maybe not.
Caught a vibe?
Oh, a lot.

Understood
The assignment.
No crumbs.
Perfect timing.
Call me savage
Call me unhinged
If this is a mistake—
I’d make it again.

FINAL CHORUS
I don’t love you, boy
I’m doing it for the plot
Main character, baby
Give ‘em something to talk about
Maybe I’m delulu
Maybe you’re all that I’ve got
Still don’t need a happy ending
I’m doing it for the plot

You came, you saw
Boy, you ate that up
Ten outta ten
And you left no crumbs
Don’t call it love—
Wait… maybe, why not?
I started doing it for the plot
Now you’re becoming
The plot.

Mountain Homes Lives Inside Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
It's where I grew up - the story is real!
Lyrics
We were just two kids in Mountain Home
Where everybody knew your name
Teachers knew who liked who first
Long before we’d say a thing

You’d catch my eyes across the room
Call me “Blue Eyes” just to grin
I’d blush while Mrs. Jensen talked
Neither one of us listening

Pre-Chorus

We learned algebra…
But somewhere in between
We started learning
What forever used to mean.

Chorus

Mountain Home still lives inside me
Every street still calls your name
The Donut Tree still guards our secrets
Though nothing else’s quite the same

We found our first kiss in the sand dunes
Where the stars lit up the sky
We thought forever was forever
Back when forever fit July

You married yours…
I married mine…
Life kept moving on…
But every now and then
Mountain Home
Brings your smile back home.

Verse 2

We’d skip third period every now and then
Slip back to your old front porch
Learning things no classroom ever
Could’ve written on a board

Trout lines dancing on the river
Summer dust upon our jeans
Funny how the smallest moments
Turn into your biggest dreams

Bridge

Sometimes I wonder
If you ever drive those roads
If fighter jets still shake the windows
Like they did when we were young

If somebody still calls me Blue Eyes…
When your memory comes around
Or if that’s just a little nickname
Still echoing through our hometown.

Final Chorus

When you called me Blue Eyes
You never knew back then
I’d still hear your voice
Every now and then

We’re somebody else’s story
We’ve built our separate lives
But every road back home
Brings your memory to mine

The Donut Tree…
Those desert skies…
Those hallways full of dreams…
Somewhere in Mountain Home
You’re still seventeen

And every time I drive back through…
For just a little while…
I’m that girl again…

When you called me…
Blue Eyes.

Lyrics
They've all got opinions from the end of the bar
About this old heart and this mason jar
"Buddy, she's gone... ain't she been gone awhile?"
I just raise my glass and grin and smile
Another one says, "Man, you need to move on."
Like it happens overnight with a country song
Y'all don't know half of what I've been missin'...

If you ain't buyin'...
You ain't deciding...

Mind your own whiskey business
This bottle and me got a lot to discuss
If I'm burning a little midnight oil
That ain't none of your buzz
Don't worry 'bout my tab
Don't worry 'bout this chair I'm sittin' in
If you ain't pouring what I'm pouring
Mind your own whiskey business

She's probably somewhere doing just fine
While I'm here making memories disappear one sip at a time
The jukebox keeps taking her side
So I keep dropping quarters just to change my mind
Old Joe says, "Son, she ain't worth all this."
I say, "Joe, you never kissed who I kissed."

Tomorrow morning I'll probably swear
This is the last time you'll find me here
But tonight...
Me and ninety proof
Still got a few things to work through

Mind your own whiskey business
Everybody's got advice to give
Till they've loved somebody enough
To forget how to live
You mind your barstool
I'll mind this bottle I'm holdin' in my hand
If you ain't been where I've been...
Mind your own whiskey business.

Dolly Parton Tribute
Lyrics
She came down from the mountains with a dream bigger than Tennessee
A coat stitched up with love and a heart that still wears its seams
She learned early you can come from little, still have plenty to give
And she's spent a lifetime showing us what a beautiful way that is to live

Yeah, the higher that she climbed
The more she reached back down
Never forgot where she came from
Or the folks back on the ground

She's heart and soul, rhinestones and gold
A little bit of heaven with a whole lotta country soul
She'll make you laugh, she'll make you cry
Make you believe there's still some good underneath this big ol' sky
She opened doors, she opened minds
Left nobody standing on the other side
Yeah, we know the hair, the songs, the show
But what we love the most
Is her heart and soul

She put books into the hands of little dreamers everywhere
Put hope into the hollers and showed up when folks needed care
Never asked who you loved, where you prayed, what side you were on
She just pulled another chair up to the table and said, "Come on"

She could've built a wall
Around everything she'd earned
Instead she built a longer table
That's the lesson that we learned

Chorus

From a front porch in the Smokies
To stages 'round the world
She showed a million dreamers
You can still be that mountain girl
You can rise without forgetting
You can shine and still be kind
And the biggest thing you leave behind
Ain't something money buys

It's how you loved
It's what you gave
It's who you lifted on your way

That's heart and soul, rhinestones and gold
A little bit of heaven with a whole lotta country soul
She made us laugh, she made us dream
Made a whole wide world a little kinder than it used to be
She opened doors, she opened minds
And made a place for everybody in the light
Yeah, we know the hair, the songs, the show
But underneath it all
What makes Dolly Dolly
Is her heart and soul

Yeah, yeah, underneath the rhinestones and gold
There's a mountain girl's
Heart and soul

Mercy in the Morning

Plays: 0
Backstory
At a GSC pro songwriting conference. I (Leslie Montgomery) came up with the hook), and we discussed the idea around it, and worked it as a team.
Lyrics
Resting with my demons on another restless night
Looking for a harbor but there is no end in sight
Given all I have but now I’ve given up the fight
As I kneel before you Lord my hope begins to rise

Sin says I’m worthless
Your word says I’m free
Shame says I ‘m brokent
But in your Word I believe
At night when in my soul it’s storming
There’s mercy, there’s mercy, there’s mercy in the morning

The sun comes through the blinds and I’m grateful for the day
Hope stirs within me igniting my faith
I trust that when storms come I will stand in the One
Who know just want I need when I don’t know what I want

Chorus

I can’t stop the world from turning as much as sometimes I try
But I feel a little strong knowing that your hands is in mine

Chorus

At night when in my soul it’s storming
There’s mercy, there’s mercy, there’s mercy in the morning

Freak Flag Fly (Male Version)

Plays: 0
Backstory
Let your freak flag fly is an expression I use all the time.
Lyrics
You’ve been buttoned up, tucked in
Trying hard to blend in
Keeping all your crazy
Colored inside the lines
You can spend your whole life
Trying to get it just right
Or quit asking permission
And have yourself a good time

Whatever you’ve been hiding
Quit keeping it inside
Come on, girl—

Let that freak flag fly
Wave it way up high
If they’re gonna talk about you
Give ’em something worth the time
You weren’t born to disappear
You were born to come alive
So whatever makes you you, girl
Don’t you dare apologize
Let that freak flag fly
Girl, let that freak flag fly

Maybe you’re a black tie
With a little wild side
Maybe you’re a backroad
Dancing underneath the lights
Maybe you’re a straight-A
Little bit sideways
Whatever kind of different
Gets you feeling most alive

You don’t need explaining
You don’t need an alibi
Come on, girl—

Chorus

Too loud, too weird
Too much, don’t care
Too fast, too far
Too you—hell yeah
Let ’em stare, let ’em wonder why
You only get one life—

Had To Get Over You (Male Version)

Plays: 0
Backstory
I have both a female and a male version of this song. It's just a funny, uptempo, 'I'm getting over your for leaving me song.'
Lyrics
Had to find my little black book
I ain’t seen since God knows when
Had to buy the first round for the boys on Friday
And let ’em talk me into ten
Had to dig out those tight black jeans
You always said looked way too good
Yeah, healing’s been so hard
But I’m doing everything a broken man should

I had to get over you
By gettin’ under someone new
Had to find a blue-eyed reason
To forget about your leaving
Yeah, a broken heart’ll make a man
Do what a man’s gotta do
I had to get over you
By gettin’ under someone new

Had to take down all your pictures
Had to paint that bedroom blue
Had to throw away all your pillows
Had to get a new tattoo
Had to put a new king-size bed
Through a little overtime
Yeah, it’s been a long hard road to healing
But I think I’m doing fine

CHORUS

Had to sleep in Sunday morning
With your best friend from next door
If this is what they call heartbreak
Hell, I might survive some more

CHORUS

Yeah, a broken heart will make a man do
What a man's gotta do....

Heart and Soul - A Dolly Parton Tribute

Backstory
Written at your request for tribute songs
Lyrics
She came down from the mountains with a dream bigger than Tennessee
A coat stitched up with love and a heart that still wears its seams
She learned early you can come from little, still have plenty to give
And she's spent a lifetime showing us what a beautiful way that is to live

Yeah, the higher that she climbed
The more she reached back down
Never forgot where she came from
Or the folks back on the ground

She's heart and soul, rhinestones and gold
A little bit of heaven with a whole lotta country soul
She'll make you laugh, she'll make you cry
Make you believe there's still some good underneath this big ol' sky
She opened doors, she opened minds
Left nobody standing on the other side
Yeah, we know the hair, the songs, the show
But what we love the most
Is her heart and soul

She put books into the hands of little dreamers everywhere
Put hope into the hollers and showed up when folks needed care
Never asked who you loved, where you prayed, what side you were on
She just pulled another chair up to the table and said, "Come on"

She could've built a wall
Around everything she'd earned
Instead she built a longer table
That's the lesson that we learned

Chorus

From a front porch in the Smokies
To stages 'round the world
She showed a million dreamers
You can still be that mountain girl
You can rise without forgetting
You can shine and still be kind
And the biggest thing you leave behind
Ain't something money buys

It's how you loved
It's what you gave
It's who you lifted on your way

That's heart and soul, rhinestones and gold
A little bit of heaven with a whole lotta country soul
She made us laugh, she made us dream
Made a whole wide world a little kinder than it used to be
She opened doors, she opened minds
And made a place for everybody in the light
Yeah, we know the hair, the songs, the show
But underneath it all
What makes Dolly Dolly
Is her heart and soul

Yeah, yeah, underneath the rhinestones and gold
There's a mountain girl's
Heart and soul

That's What Dolly'd Do

Lyrics
There’s a million porch lights burning
In a million map dot towns
On their knees a praying
For their lives to turn around
A hungry boy in an alley
Single mom on her own
A farmer on foreclosed land
Widow all alone

No matter where you are
Imagine who you can be
Just hold on to your heart through everything

Always be a dreamer,
Give a little more,
Leave a light on for somebody
Who might show up at your door
Love without condition,
Let your kindness do the talking,
Lend a helping hand
Be a beacon of the truth
That’s what Dolly’d do

Heavens full of rhinestones
Sky’s full of stars
Hallelujah angels are playing guitars

Chorus
Yeah That's what Dolly'd do

She’ll be gathering a choir of friends
Who’d gone on before her
She'll be kneeling with the children
As they all praised the Lord

Chorus
Yeah That's what Dolly'd do
That's what Dolly'd do
That's what Dolly'd do
That's what Dolly'd do

I'd Pick All The Daisies

Plays: 0
Backstory
My fiance said this to me....
Lyrics
Yeah, everybody sees those blue eyes
That blonde hair falling just right
But I see you call your mama
Just to make sure she’s alright
You tip twenty on a ten-dollar tab
Know the waitress by her name
You make everybody feel like somebody
Girl, that’s what makes you beautiful to me

They see pretty when you walk in the room
I see everything they don’t see in you

I’d lasso all the stars out of a midnight sky
Hang ’em one by one outside your window tonight
I’d steal every sunset, paint it gold just for you
Bottle up the ocean if you asked me to
I’d pick all the daisies from Tennessee to L.A.
Weave ’em through that blonde hair falling down your face
Girl, if loving you means doing the impossible
I’d do it all, I’d do it all
And if I had every girl in this whole wide world to choose
I’d pick all the daisies
But baby, I’d still pick you

I see you laugh when you’re nervous
Say you’re fine when you’ve had a bad day
You forgive before they ask you
Give more than you ever take
You stop traffic for a stray dog
Cry at movies you’ve seen ten times
And somehow when my world’s going sideways
You make everything fall back in line

Pre-chorus

Chorus

’Cause pretty’s everywhere
But what you’ve got is rare
It ain’t something you can put on
It ain’t something time can take
Girl, I’ve seen a million beautiful things
But you’re beautiful in ways they ain’t
So if you ever wonder what I’d do...

Chorus

Yeah, I’d pick ’em all
Just to give ’em all to you
But out of everybody
Baby, I’d pick you.

Above Our Pay Grade

Plays: 7
Backstory
I love it when a man says he married above his pay grade or married up....
Lyrics
Hoss, put the good boots on
We been sittin’ home way too damn long
Call Jake, call Luke, tell ’em roll on through
We got Friday night and nothing to lose
Little cash, little gas, little too much hope
Whole lotta confidence we probably don’t
But I know one place where the neon stays late
And the girls walk in above our pay grade

So straighten that collar, boy, suck that gut in
We’re underqualified, but we’re clockin’ in

Let’s go fishin’ for girls at the bar, Hoss
Throw a little charm, see what we caught, Hoss
Find a couple pretty girls way outta our league
Make a four look like a ten just standing next to me
We ain’t got money, ain’t got game
But we got two-step moves and zero shame
If we strike out, hell, we’ll laugh either way
Chasin’ pretty girls above our pay grade

Above our, above our
Way above our pay grade
Hoss, don’t look now—
One’s lookin’ this way

Now Jake’s on the dance floor losin’ his mind
Luke’s tellin’ that same damn story for the hundredth time
You’re shootin’ your shot with a Tennessee ten
I’m three stools down gettin’ friend-zoned again
But she laughed at my joke, so I’m callin’ that a win
You bought her a drink and she bought you one then
Whole crew’s punching way above our weight
Lord, don’t let nobody check our résumé

Keep that chin up, boy, act like we belong
If confidence is currency, we’re millionaires till dawn

Chorus

Hoss—
She’s comin’ over
Play it cool
Don’t spill your beer
Don’t say that thing you always say—
Too late, brother, we’re outta here

Half-Time Pickup
Wait—
She brought her friend...

Chorus

Above our, above our
Way above our pay grade
Look at us, Hoss—
We got promoted today

Call Jake, call Luke
Tell ’em we’re gonna be late
Me and Hoss are working
Above our pay grade

Sorry's Just a Word

Plays: 0
Backstory
I've lived this....
Lyrics
I've said I'm sorry more than I should
Promised I'd change, swore that I would
Looked in the mirror, didn't like what I saw
A good man's choices don't always look good at all
I've blamed the whiskey, blamed being young
Blamed everybody but the damage I'd done
But excuses don't fix what you put somebody through
And sorry don't mean nothing till your actions do

I can't undo yesterday
But I can choose who wakes up today

'Cause sorry's just a word
Till you live it
Forgiveness ain't something
You're owed, it's given
You can't unbreak a heart
You can't unburn a bridge
But you can spend the rest of your life
Undoin' what you did
Grace ain't forgetting
And change has gotta hurt
Till the man that I become
Means more than what you've heard
Yeah, I've learned
Sorry's just a word

There's people I love I've let down before
People who believed I could be something more
And I've learned the hardest truth about trust
It takes years to build and one night to bust
So I ain't asking anybody to forget
Or pretending I don't live with regret
I'm done making promises I can't prove
From here on out I'll let what I do speak the truth

I can't undo yesterday
But I can choose who wakes up today

Chorus

I talked to God last night
Didn't ask Him to erase it
I asked Him for the strength
To turn around and face it
'Cause mercy ain't permission
To keep doing what you've done
Sometimes redemption starts
When you've got nowhere left to run

Chorus

I can't change yesterday
But I can change tomorrow
And maybe someday
I won't have to say I'm sorry

Till then I'll let my life
Say every word

Devil Knows the Shortcut

Plays: 0
Backstory
Lived it....
Lyrics
Daddy taught me take the narrow road
Keep your word and carry your load
Mama said, “Son, there ain’t no easy way
To become the man you oughta be someday”
But somewhere past the county line
The roads got blurry between wrong and right
When you're young and hungry and you want your own
There's always new friends at the crossroads to make sure
You don't walk that path alone

The devil knows the shortcut
He knows every back road out
He can shave a mile off a crooked line
And make wrong feel right somehow
He’ll tell you what you wanna hear
When the long way looks too hard
Yeah, the devil knows the shortcut
But he never tells you where you are

I’ve chased a dollar I didn’t need
Traded enough for a little more greed
Burned some bridges just to save some time
Left good people standing on the other side
And every door that opened fast
Had a way of closing twice as hard
I’ve learned easy ain't the same as free
And every shortcut takes a toll eventually

Chorus

Now I’m older and the signs make sense
There ain't much distance between grace and consequence

Yeah, the devil knows the shortcut
But I know the long way home
It’s a little more dust, a few more miles
And some roads you walk alone
It’s saying I was wrong, forgiving
And fixing what you can
Yeah, the devil knows the shortcut
But the long road makes the man

Yeah, the devil knows the shortcut....
But the long road makes the man...

Altered State

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I woke up five minutes before my alarm
Didn't cuss the traffic, didn't flip nobody off
Coffee tastes better, boss ain't that bad
Even my ex don't make me mad
Birds been whistlin', where'd they learn that tune?
Sky went and traded gray for Carolina blue
Either somebody changed the whole damn place
Or girl, you got me in an altered state

I ain't high, ain't drunk
Ain't nothing in this cup
But something's definitely got me messed up

Girl, you got me living in an altered state
Sunshine hitting different on my face
Grass got greener, stars got brighter
Friday night somehow got Friday-nighter
Radio's playing every song I like
Red lights turn green every damn time
If this is what loving you does to my brain
Baby, leave me living in an altered state

Yeah, altered, altered
Don't you bring me down
If loving you's a problem
I don't want out

Gas is too high, but I don't even care
Got twenty in the tank and your hand in my hair
Neighbor's damn dog ain't keeping me awake
Even Monday morning feels like Saturday
My buddies keep asking what the hell got in me
Hoss says, “Boy, you need therapy”
I said, “Nah, man, I think I'm doing great
She's just got me in an altered state

Pre-Chorus
*But one look from her
*And I'm gone enough

Chorus

Doc couldn't diagnose it
Preacher couldn't pray it away
Bartender couldn't pour it
And I wouldn't change it anyway
Call it crazy, call it fate
Call it whatever you wanna call it, babe
All I know is one kiss from you
And I'm somewhere past cloud nine and interstate two

No prescription
No proof
No twelve-step program
Could get me over you

Girl, you got me living in an altered state
Sunshine hitting different on my face
Grass got greener, stars got brighter
Whole damn world's turned technicolor
Radio's playing every song I like
Moon came out just to watch us tonight
If this is what loving you does to my brain
Baby, leave me living in an altered state

Altered, altered
Yeah, I'm good right here
Stone-cold sober
Drunk on having you near

Birds keep whistlin'
Sky stays blue
Whole world's looking
Better with you
Call me crazy
I call it fate
Girl, you got me living
In an altered state.

Backroads Remember

Plays: 0
Lyrics
There's an old gravel road
Just outside this mountain town.
Still got the same crooked fence,
Same oak hanging over the ground.
We carved our names into a cedar,
Thought forever was that summer sky.
Funny how forever changed...
But that old tree's still standing there tonight.

Pre-Chorus
Time keeps moving.
People do too.
But some places...
Never stop holding onto you.

Chorus
Backroads remember.
Every tire track,
Every midnight promise
We swore we'd never take back.
They remember your laughter
Rolling out that passenger-side window,
The radio singing
Like the whole world was ours.
I might forget
Exactly how your voice sounded...
But backroads remember.

Verse 2
That little bridge by Miller's Creek
Still echoes after dark.
I swear if you listen long enough,
You can still hear two reckless hearts.
The mailbox where we always stopped,
The field where we watched July
Light up the whole horizon...
Like we had all the time in life.

Pre-Chorus
Funny how
The map stays the same...
Even when
The names have changed.

Chorus
Backroads remember.
Every kiss,
Every turn,
Every mile
We thought we'd always stay together.
They remember
The dust we left behind,
The dreams we packed
Into an old pickup truck.
Maybe that's why
I still take the long way home...
'Cause backroads remember.

Bridge
The pavement doesn't miss us.
The highway doesn't care.
But those winding county roads...
Still carry us somewhere.

Final Chorus
Backroads remember
The girl I used to be,
The boy who thought forever
Was waiting just beyond those trees.
They remember
What neither one of us
Could hold onto.
And somehow...
That makes letting go
A little easier to do.
'Cause memories fade...
Photographs grow old...
People change...
But those backroads...
They remember.

Tag
Some roads lead you home...
Some roads lead you on...
And some roads...
Remember long after we're gone.

Couldn't Wait to Leave

Plays: 0
Lyrics
There was one red light and one old school
Friday nights, that’s where the whole town grew
We thought that county line was a prison gate
Counting down to graduation day
My mama worked the register at Circle K
Your daddy flew the flag for the Air Force every day
We’d park out by the ninth-hole green
Passing Mad Dog ’round at seventeen
You’d point at the stars and say, “I’m gonna see the world.”
I’d laugh and say, “You’ll have to catch me first.”

This is the town we couldn’t wait to leave
Where every dream was bigger than these streets
We swore we’d never look back once those taillights disappeared
Now here we are after all these years
Funny how the roads that took us everywhere
Still found a way to bring us back right here
Guess forever wasn’t as far away as we believed…
Back in the town we couldn’t wait to leave.

I heard you stayed when your brother passed
Folded flag and all that came with that
Then you finally chased those postcards west
Just like you always said
You said you’ve seen my name in lights a time or two
I laughed and said, “Yeah… some dreams come true.”
Then someone said, “Have you met her man?”
They say he kind of looks like you.
I turned and smiled… and ain't that somethin'.

Guess life has funny ways
Of giving us the things we need
Instead of everything we dreamed.

Chorus

Turns out…Sometimes forever wears a hometown smile.

You found your world
I found mine too
Funny how they both led back to you…
Not the “us” we might’ve been—
Just an old friend standing in the wind.
Here’s to the kids we used to be…
In the town we couldn’t wait to leave.

Come Sunday

Plays: 0
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Monday morning hits before my feet hit the floor
Tuesday’s got me runnin’ first thing out the door
Wednesday, Thursday everybody needs my time
Friday comes, I’m barely across that finish line
Saturday’s laundry, groceries, bills to pay
Checkin’ things off lists that are late
The only thing that’s on my mind at the end of the day
Is when I can be in your arms and get away…

Chorus
Come Sunday
When there ain’t no reason to get out of bed
We can stay wrapped up with each other
My chest the resting place for your head
Gonna run my fingers through your hair
While the whole world keeps a turnin’
Make love until the sun goes down
Getting lost in the covers
No clock, no plans, no cell phones
Just you and me alone
Everyone gets a piece of us six days a week
Let’s choose one for us to get away
Come Sunday

[Verse 2]
Let your momma call and dishes fill the sink
Let the neighbors wonder what the hell they think
We’ll pull those covers up and shut the daylight out
Enjoy one another ‘cause that’s what love’s about
I’ll trace my fingers all over your skin
Then we’ll start all over and do it again.
There’s no place in this world I’d rather be
Than alone and tangled up with you
Skin to skin just you and me

Chorus
Come Sunday
When there ain’t no reason to get out of bed
We can stay wrapped up with each other
My chest the resting place for your head
Gonna run my fingers through your hair
While the whole world keeps a turnin’
Make love until the sun goes down
Getting lost in the covers
No clock, no plans, no cell phones
Just you and me alone
Everyone gets a piece of us six days a week
Let’s choose one for us to get away
Come Sunday

Bridge
Monday can wait on Monday
The world can wait outside
We spend all week making a living
Sunday we’re making a life
So pull me in a little closer
Let morning turn to afternoon
If loving you is all we get done
Then baby, that’s enough to do

Chorus
Come Sunday
When there ain’t no reason to get out of bed
We can stay wrapped up with each other
My chest the resting place for your head
Gonna run my fingers through your hair
While the whole world keeps a turnin’
Make love until the sun goes down
Getting lost in the covers
No clock, no plans, no cell phones
Just you and me alone
Everyone gets a piece of us six days a week
Let’s choose one for us to get away
Come Sunday

Outro
Let Monday have the hurry
Let Saturday have the chores
Come Sunday
I’m yours

Jasmine & Blue Orchids

Plays: 0
Backstory
Well, in all honesty, I got the hook off a bottle off hand soap, and wrote the song around it. The hand soap did smell good after all.
Lyrics
She wore jasmine on her skin
Like summer after dark
I can still see that little white dress
Dancin' underneath the stars
There were blue orchids by the window
In that room down by the sea
Funny how something so long ago
Still knows how to find me

I can be a thousand miles
And twenty years away
Then jasmine finds me somewhere
And suddenly it's yesterday
Her hair falling on my shoulder
Her hand reaching out for mine
Some loves leave without leaving
Some goodbyes outlive goodbye
And for a moment she's still seventeen
Frozen in time like a portrait
In fields of jasmine and blue orchids

Sometimes it's in a hotel lobby
Sometimes walking down the street
A stranger passes wearing something
And my heart forgets to beat
Sometimes orchids in a window
Catch me staring way too long
And I wonder if somewhere she hears
An old familiar song

Chorus

Maybe love doesn't disappear
Maybe it just learns to hide
In a scent, a song, a certain shade of blue
Waiting somewhere deep inside something new

So if jasmine finds me someday
When my hair has turned to gray
I know exactly where my heart will go
And who I'll see that day
A girl beneath a summer moon
With forever in her eyes
Before we knew that even beautiful things
Could ever say goodbye

And I'll be young
And she'll be mine
Before time forgets
Two kids in love
In fields of jasmine and blue orchids.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Tequila

Plays: 0
Backstory
Wrote it about my tequila-loving, lime-squeezing fiancé...in the middle of the damn night. Woke up hearing the hook and dancing the melody. Oh, Lord, I HAVE to get up and write this now! Ya' all relate now, don't ya?
Lyrics
There’s a plastic Santa blinking at the bar
A string of colored lights around a PBR star
You walked in wearing red, looking good as hell
And I forgot about the snow soon as I saw you myself

Bartender’s pouring something gold and strong
Mariah’s on the jukebox, everybody’s singing along
You said, “Boy, you better behave yourself tonight”
Then you slid that salt my way and handed me a lime

One shot, two shot
Baby, here we go
It might be twenty degrees
But it’s getting hot below that mistletoe

It’s beginning to look a lot like tequila
Everywhere I go
Got a little salt on your lips
Little lime in your kiss
And you’re stealing the whole damn show
Yeah, the tree’s lit up
And so are we
And Santa ain’t the only one
Coming down tonight to see ya
Baby, it’s beginning to look
A lot like tequila

We traded Silent Night for another round
You got me seeing Christmas lights all over this town
There’s an Uber waiting, snow coming down
But you’re whispering something ’bout your place right now

I had plans to make it home by ten
But good intentions ain’t worth much when
You’re standing there underneath that mistletoe
With that look that says, “One more before we go”

Chorus

Forget the milk and cookies
We got something eighty proof
If Santa checks that naughty list
He’s gonna find me next to you

Chorus

Feliz Navidad, baby—
Pass the tequila.

Twelve Beers of Christmas

Plays: 0
Backstory
My funny friends....
Lyrics
Boys got off work Friday, Christmas Eve
Said, “One cold beer, then we’re gonna leave”
Mama’s got supper, church starts at eight
But somebody yelled, “Hell, boys, let's celebrate”
Jukebox playing something ’bout a silent night
But there ain’t nothing silent ’bout us tonight
Bartender laughed, said, “Y’all better pace yourselves”
We said, “Line ’em up — Merry Christmas to ourselves”

On the first beer of Christmas, we were feeling all right
Second beer, we started stringing up the lights
Three and four, somebody found the mistletoe
Five beers in, we’re singing way too low
Six got us talking like we’re ten feet tall
Seven had somebody calling his ex-girl
Eight, nine, ten — hell, nobody remembers
Eleven lit the fire
And twelve burned December

Yeah, twelve cold beers
Twelve bad decisions
Twelve reasons Santa
Ain’t granting our wishes
We came for one
But boys being boys—
We drank the Twelve Beers of Christmas
And made a whole lotta noise

Somebody put antlers on Billy Ray
Somebody's Wrangler ended up in the sleigh
Jimmy kissed a girl underneath the wreath
Found out her boyfriend was six-foot-three
There’s a plastic baby Jesus watching from the shelf
Looking disappointed, and I don't blame Him myself
The bartender said, “Boys, this night's gotta end”
Then somebody yelled, “It's Christmas—pour 'em again!”

Chorus

No gold rings
No turtle doves
No partridge sitting in a pear tree above
Just twelve longnecks
And eleven regrets
Ten bucks says somebody ain't found his truck yet

ONE — “Just one, boys!”
TWO — “Okay, maybe two!”
THREE — “Who hung that mistletoe?”
FOUR — “Who invited you?”
FIVE — COLD! LOOOONGNECKS!
Six — somebody lost his phone
Seven — somebody ain't going home
Eight — somebody called his ex
Nine — Lord, what happened next?
Ten — blue lights in the parking lot
Eleven — Santa said, “Y’all need God”
Twelve — bartender killed the lights—

Twelve cold beers
Twelve bad decisions
Twelve grown men
Making questionable traditions
Santa drove by
Said, “Boys, good Lord...”
We drank the Twelve Beers of Christmas
And got banned till January fourth

Next year we're drinking eggnog.

...Who brought the tequila?

My Favorite Gift

Plays: 0
Backstory
My fiance always tells me I'm his gift and vice versa.
Lyrics
Mama keeps asking what I want this year
I tell her, “Don’t worry, I got it right here”
There’s boxes and bows filling up the room
But I ain’t even wondering what’s in ’em with you
You’re dancing in the kitchen to an old Christmas song
Wearing my sweatshirt, singing every word wrong
I’m thinking, girl, there ain’t a thing
Compared to you wrapped up under that damn tree

They can tie it in a ribbon
Put my name on anything
But I already got everything I need

’Cause my favorite gift ain’t under the tree
She’s right here wrapped up with her arms around me
Don’t need a red bow, don’t need a receipt
Wouldn’t trade what I got for anything
Santa can save himself a trip down the chimney
There ain’t nothing in that sleigh I need
Yeah, everybody’s looking underneath those lights
But my favorite gift ain’t under the tree

You got those blue eyes catching those red lights
Making that mistletoe look pretty good tonight
Snow’s coming down, fire’s burning up
And I’m thinking one Christmas kiss ain’t enough
Got your name written all over my plans
From Christmas morning through New Year’s again
If somebody asks what Santa brought me
I’ll point your way and say, “Everything”

Can’t fit you in a stocking
Can’t put a price on what you mean
Girl, you’re better than anything I dreamed

Chorus

I used to make a list
Like everybody does
Till I found out the best things
Ain’t things at all
So let ’em tear that paper
Let ’em see what Santa brings
I’ll be right here holding
The only gift I need

Chorus

No, I don’t need a thing—
You’re right here with me.

Honky Tonk Christmas (Leslie's Version)

Plays: 0
Backstory
My friend Ron had the hook and I wrote the rest. He also has a version I think he's submitting. He may be using a few of my lyrics (which is fine), but not many.
Lyrics
He blows in with a grin
Boot-slidin’ through the door
Red velvet cap, black boots
Two-steppin’ ’cross the floor
The girls all turn and smile
When that white beard comes around
Looks like Santa’s got one stop
Before he leaves this town

Pre-Chorus
He’s spinning all the barmaids
Like reindeer round and round
Passing whiskey candy canes—
Old Saint Nick just came to town

Chorus
Oh, it’s a honky tonk Christmas
Santa’s buying rounds
Got the barmaids two-steppin’
To that North Pole country sound
He’s making spirits brighter
Pouring Christmas cheer
Yeah, Rudolph’s got the keys tonight
So Santa’s drinking here
Raise ’em up, y’all, here’s to us—
It’s a honky tonk Christmas

Verse 2
He tips the bartender
With a fifty and a wink
Says, “Keep the good stuff coming,
I got eight deer who don’t drink”
He shoots some pool with Billy
Gets the whole bar singing loud
And every time that jukebox hits
He’s dancing with the crowd

Pre-Chorus
He checks his watch at midnight
Says, “Boys, I gotta fly”
Then somebody pours another
And he says, “Well... maybe one more rye”

Chorus
Oh, it’s a honky tonk Christmas
Santa’s buying rounds
Got the barmaids two-steppin’
To that North Pole country sound
He’s making spirits brighter
Pouring Christmas cheer
Yeah, Rudolph’s got the keys tonight
So Santa’s drinking here
Raise ’em up, y’all, here’s to us—
It’s a honky tonk Christmas

Bridge
There’s a stocking for everybody
With a shot glass tucked inside
We raise ’em up to Santa
Before he catches his ride
No milk, no cookies tonight, boys—
Just whiskey, boots and cheer
He’s got the whole world left to cover
But he starts Christmas here

Final Chorus
Yeah, it’s a honky tonk Christmas
Santa’s buying rounds
Got the whole bar two-steppin’
To that North Pole country sound
He’s making spirits brighter
Pouring Christmas cheer
And Rudolph’s got the keys tonight
So Santa’s staying here
Raise ’em up, y’all, here’s to us—
It’s a honky tonk Christmas

Outro
Ho, ho, ho
One more before you go
Rudolph’s got the keys tonight—
It’s a honky tonk Christmas.

Sexy, Country Rock, Christmas
Lyrics
Party’s packed, but all I see is you
Tight jeans, black shirt, Stetson hat lookin’ good
You catch my eye from across the room
Suddenly December feels like June
You give me that come get me grin, I already know
Where this little Christmas party’s gonna go

Come a little closer
Let that good times roll
There’s only one thing
On my Christmas list I want…

Me lookin’ at you
You lookin’ at me
Just one glance
Girl, you’re sleighing me
We’re so hot
Snow melts wherever we go
Baby, come meet me
Under the mistletoe
You pull me close
I’m tinglin’ down to my toes
Baby, don’t keep me waitin’
Under the mistletoe

You got my temperature on the rise
There ain’t nothin’ holy ’bout that look in your eyes
You whisper sweet gifts only I can hear
Lord, have mercy, Christmas came early this year
Forget the presents tied up in bows
I got what I wanted as we both know

Come a little closer
Let the good times roll
Let’s spend tonight
Enjoying mistletoe

CHORUS

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
We’re turnin’ up the heat inside
When your lips touch mine
Santa can keep everything on his list
All I want for Christmas
Is another round of kisses

Tired of being told Sorry!
Lyrics
You've said I'm sorry more than you should
Promised you'd change, swore that you would
Looked in the mirror, didn't like what you saw
A good man's choices don't always look good at all
You've blamed the whiskey, blamed being young
Blamed everybody but the damage you've done
But excuses don't fix what you put me through
And sorry don't mean nothing till your actions do

You can't undo yesterday
But you can choose who wakes up today

'Cause sorry's just a word
Till you live it
Forgiveness ain't something
You owe, it's given
You can't unbreak a heart
You can't unburn a bridge
But you can spend the rest of your life
Undoin' what you did
Grace ain't forgetting
And change has gotta hurt
Till the man that you become
Has rebuilt the trust he's burned
Yeah, I've learned
Sorry's just a word

There's people you love you've let down before
People who believed you could be something more
And I've learned the hardest truth about trust
It takes years to build and one night to bust
So don't ask me to forgive and forget
Pretend we both don't live with regrets
I'm done hearing promises you can't keep
From here on out I'll let what you do speak

You can't undo yesterday
But you can choose who wakes up today

[Chorus]

I talked to God last night
Didn't ask Him to end it
I asked Him for the strength
To help us to face it

'Cause mercy ain't permission
To keep doing what you've done
Sometimes redemption starts
When you've got nowhere left to run

[Final Chorus]

Gravity

Backstory
Wrote this about my current relationship.
Lyrics
I’ve seen people come and go,
Watched love disappear like smoke.
But every time I count us out,
Something turns this thing around.
No matter how the winds may blow,
Or how far these restless feet may go,
There’s a pull that never lets me leave…
Something bigger than you and me.

Call it fate…
Call it destiny…
Call it whatever you believe…

It’s gravity…
Pulling you, pulling me.
No matter how far these wheels may roll,
There’s a force stronger than flesh and bone.
It’s gravity…The center of everything.
We’re never falling apart
Gravity keeps bringing us back,
Back to the heart.
Baby! It's gravity!

I’ve been stubborn, I’ve been wild,
Lost my faith for a little while.
But every road I thought was free
Bent like a river back to you and me.
There’s a rhythm underneath my skin,
A whisper saying, “Love will win.”
I don’t have to understand
I just feel Your steady hand.

Higher!
Stronger!
Closer every day!
Nothing can break us,
Nothing gets in the way! X2

Alt: The stars may spin and oceans part,
But love keeps beating inside these hearts.
It’s gravity…

About current relationship
Lyrics
First time I saw you, something inside me changed
Like lightning waiting on the rain
Whole room disappeared like magic
There was everybody else, then there was us
You didn’t touch me, I couldn't breathe
I felt you from across that room
Just like a sacred dream
You didn’t say anything
But I heard everything

Tension
You can feel it in a room the size of heaven
Screaming in the silence
In every word we never said
Tension
You pulled me close enough to lose my breath in
We were holding on
Like letting go would leave us with nothing left
We ran toward each other
Coming from different directions
Tension

Somewhere the sparks became a fuse
And every little thing blew up the room
We learned exactly where it hurts
And how to make it hurt a little worse
Now our hearts are so distant
Resentment replaced our rhythm
Two people standing in the same room
Both of us feeling bruised

Funny how a choice
In everyday rooms
In a matter of a second
Can shift a mood

Chorus

Maybe we can learn to exist
Without running for cover

Chorus

Understood the Assignment (Male Country Vocals)

Backstory
Was originally pop. Male and female versions available. Gen Z term, "You understood the assignment," - you knew exactly what was required of you (and then some, baby!).
Lyrics
VERSE 1
I didn’t have to spell it out
You read the room, you figured me out
One look and you knew the vibe
Didn’t need directions, read my mind
I came in thinking I’d play it cool
Then you went and broke every rule
Girl, whatever class you took
Put your name at the top of the book

PRE-CHORUS
No notes, no corrections
Straight-A kind of attention
I don’t know who taught you that
But baby, tell ’em I said congrats

CHORUS
Girl, you understood the assignment
Every little move, perfect timing
Ate that up, yeah, you did that right
Left no crumbs by the end of the night
Ten outta ten, no extra credit
You knew what I wanted before I said it
Call it chemistry, call it alignment
Girl, you understood the assignment

POST-CHORUS
Ate — that — up
Left no crumbs
Ate — that — up
Yeah, you understood the assignment

VERSE 2
Usually I’m hard to impress
Baby, you just passed that test
Didn’t come in talking a game
You let your actions say your name
Now I’m walking with a different glow
Got a little secret nobody knows
They keep asking why I look like that
I just smile like, “Baby, do the math”

PRE-CHORUS
No notes, no corrections
Straight-A kind of attention
Extra credit? Didn’t need it
Baby, you came prepared and exceeded

CHORUS
Girl, you understood the assignment
Every little move, perfect timing
Ate that up, yeah, you did that right
Left no crumbs by the end of the night
Ten outta ten, no extra credit
You knew what I wanted before I said it
Call it chemistry, call it alignment
Girl, you understood the assignment

BRIDGE / DANCE BREAK
Did you eat?
Yeah, you ate.
Leave a crumb?
Not a trace.
Need a hint?
Not a chance.
Baby came
Advanced.

No notes.
No notes.
Baby, I got no notes.

FINAL CHORUS
Girl, you understood the assignment
Every little move, perfect timing
Ate that up, yeah, you did that right
Left no crumbs by the end of the night
Ten outta ten and I’d recommend it
If there’s another round, I’m attending
Call it chemistry, perfect alignment
Girl, you understood—
You understood—
You understood the assignment.

Lyrics
Verse 1
You always call past midnight
When the city’s dressed in black
Say you’ve been thinking ’bout me
Like that’s gonna bring me back

You pull up with your headlights
Cutting shadows through my room
Wearing that familiar smile
And your expensive perfume

Pre-Chorus
You kiss me like a promise
Then disappear like smoke
You love me like a lit match
Just to watch me lose control

I know how this story ends
I’ve read every line you wrote
You’ll say that you’re not leaving—
But, baby, please don’t

Chorus
Baby, please don’t
Call me when you’re lonely
Don’t pull me close
If you don’t plan to hold me
Don’t say forever
With your fingers crossed
Don’t make me want you
If you’re already gone
You’ll say you’ll stay
But I know you won’t
So, baby, please don’t
Baby, please don’t

Post-Chorus
Don’t, don’t
Baby, please don’t
I know, know
I know you won’t

Don’t, don’t
Don’t start what you won’t finish
Baby, please don’t
Baby, please don’t

Verse 2
You leave your jacket on my chair
Like a reason you’ll return
But I’ve learned your kind of loving
Only comes to watch me burn

Your name lights up my phone screen
Like a warning dressed in blue
Every red flag looks like velvet
When it’s wrapped around you

Pre-Chorus
You touch me like you mean it
You talk like you’ve come home
But morning finds the doorway
And me waking up alone

I know how this story ends
I’ve lived through every note
You’ll say that you’re not leaving—
But, baby, please don’t

Chorus
Baby, please don’t
Call me when you’re lonely
Don’t pull me close
If you don’t plan to hold me

Don’t say forever

Don’t make me want you
If you’re already gone

You’ll say you’ll stay
But I know you won’t
So, baby, please don’t
Baby, please don’t

Bridge
Don’t bring promises to a graveyard
Don’t put perfume on goodbye
Don’t hang stars above my bedroom
If you’re gone by morning light

I’m not your in-between guy
Not your 2 a.m. mistake
I won’t keep breaking open
Just to give you what you take

You don’t get my mind
You don’t get my bed
You don’t get to haunt me
Then call it love instead

Her Daddy's Heart (RW)

Plays: 0
Backstory
Written in 1992 after a contentious divorce.
Lyrics
We made a miracle between us
She’s sleeping right down the hall
Surrounded by her coloring books
Her teddy bears and her dolls
So when you say there’s no love left between us
I can’t help but disagree
She’s not just a part of you
She’s a part of me

Chorus
She’s got your eyes
She's got your nose
She'll be the spitting image of you
As she grows
But if you walk out with her
You'll tear my world apart
She may have your smile
But she has her daddy's heart

I’d never ask you to stay with me
When you love another man
But asking me to tear her apart
Is something I just can’t
I know she needs her momma
But she needs her daddy too
And there’s not another man
Who can substitute

Chorus
She’s got your eyes
She’s got your nose
She'll be the spitting image of you
As she grows
But if you walk out with her
You’ll tear my world apart
She may have your smile
But she’s got her daddy’s heart

Bridge
When she reaches for my hand
Says, “Daddy, I don't understand,”
How do I explain to her
Something no one can

She’s got your eyes
She’s got your nose
She'll be the spitting image of you
As she grows
But if you walk out with her
You’ll tear my world apart
She may have your smile
But she’s got her daddy’s heart

She’s got her daddy’s heart
Yeah, she’s got her daddy’s heart...

Heart of a Woman

Plays: 0
Backstory
The hook is something my man said to me...in the heart of a woman....
Lyrics
Five-thirty coffee in my old work cup
Kitchen light on, the sun ain’t up
She’s barefoot standing on that cold tile floor
Sleep in her eyes, one hand on the door
I’ll pull in tonight with the radio low
Ten hours of work I won’t wanna bring home
She’ll know the moment I drop my keys
It disappears the second she smiles at me…

In the heart of a woman
Runs a river deep and wide
Where a man can drink and find shelter
From the storms he fights outside
She puts out a hundred daily fires
With a strength she tends to hide
But that river of love keeps flowin’…
In the heart of a woman

Backpacks, ball cleats scattered down the hall
One kid’s cryin’, another bouncing off the walls
Something’s boiling over, dog’s under her feet
She kisses one scraped knee, tells the other one, “Breathe”
Hair piled up in a sloppy bun
Dancing through the kitchen while the music turns
Flour on her cheek, red wine in her hand
She catches me watching and starts to laugh

Chorus

She’s been beside me in a hospital chair
Same clothes two days, tangled-up hair
Holding my hand underneath white sheets
Whispering prayers when I couldn’t speak
Scared as hell, but never letting go
Saying, “I’m here,” like I didn’t know…

Chorus

Kickin' You to the Curb (All My Cowboy Boots)

Plays: 0
Backstory
I was sick as a dog with the flu. While lying in bed sick, I was staring at my Ariat boot box on a shelf....
Lyrics
There’s a trail of empty boxes
From the bedroom to the hall
Dust where my favorites sat across
Your picture facedown by the wall
Got a heel clickin’ on the hardwood
Like a countdown sayin’ go
Every buckle in that closet
Knows somethin’ you don’t know

Got a whole lotta leather
With a point to prove
And a closet full of attitude
And nothin’ left to lose…

My Justin snakeskin's are waitin’ by the front door
Fringe-lined Ariats knee-high across the floor
My Tecovas have seen enough
Tony Lamas cursed your name
And Luccheses called your bluff
They’ve all come together to say
I’m more than you deserve
All my cowboy boots are
Kickin’ you to the curb
Yeah, all my cowboy boots...
Are kickin' you to the curb

My red ones want a neon night
My black ones say we’re done
My rare alligators wanna raise some hell
Before the mornin’ comes
My white pair’s bound for Broadway
My old pair wants some sand
And the ones you said were too damn high
Got Friday-night plans

There’s a whole lotta leather
Headed somewhere new
And not a single pair I own
Wants one more mile with you

Chorus

Got a pair that’s marked for Nashville
Another headed for L.A.
You called ’em an obsession
Now they’re my getaway

Chorus

Yeah, all my cowboy boots...
Are kickin' you to the curb

It's about my ex....
Lyrics
You never met a mirror
You didn't stop and admire.
Always twenty minutes late,
But somehow that was my fault every time.
You'd lose your keys, your wallet,
Your temper every week.
Then call me asking where they were...
Like I packed 'em when I leave.

I used to think
It was my job
To keep your world from falling apart.
Turns out...
That wasn't love.
That was overtime.

You're somebody else's problem now.
She can answer all your midnight calls,
Listen to the same old stories,
Watch you blame the world for it all.
She can chase your promises,
Pick up what you keep putting down.
I wish her luck...
Lord knows she'll need enough.
'Cause you're somebody else's problem now.

You still think saying "my bad"
Counts as changing your ways.
Still collecting second chances
Like they're trophies on a shelf.
Hope she likes apologizing
To waiters and your friends.
Hope she enjoys hearing,
"Baby... it'll be different next weekend."

I don't miss
Fixing everything
You never planned to fix yourself.

Chorus

Don't get me wrong...
I hope you grow.
I hope someday
You become the man
You always promised me.
I just hope
It ain't my turn
To wait around
And see.

Chorus

You're somebody else's problem now.
I traded chaos
For a little peace and quiet.
Turns out
Love ain’t supposed to feel
Like a full-time job.
Here's to sleeping through the night,
Keeping both my sanity
And my weekends.
If she asks about me...
Tell her thanks.
She set me free.
You're somebody else's problem now.

Not my circus.
Not my clown.
You're somebody else's...
Problem now.

The Seven Wonders.....
Lyrics
Aurora dancing over Alaska’s sky
Blood-red sun sinking in a desert tide
Egypt’s golden giants rising from the sand
Seven wonders carved by the world’s own hands
Diamonds throwing lightning in a velvet room
Midnight blue beneath a harvest moon
I’ve seen the kind of beauty that can stop a room
But it ain’t nothing, girl, compared to you

[Pre-Chorus]
Let the whole world stand and stare
There's nothin' as breathtaking as you girl

[Chorus]
The Seven Wonders ain’t got nothing on you
Not the Taj Mahal, not the ocean’s deepest blue
Not a sky full of stars on a summer night
Not the Eiffel Tower burning gold in the city lights
You’re a once-in-a-lifetime, out-of-the-blue
Make the whole world disappear kind of beautiful
Let ’em show me heaven, from an angel's view
The Seven Wonders ain’t got nothing on you

[Verse 2]
Mona Lisa’s smile in a golden frame
Wild horses running through a field of flames
Waterfalls crashing like a thunder roll
Northern lights painting fire across the North Pole
The Grand Canyon glowing when the sun goes down
A thousand miles of wild, wide-open ground
Every masterpiece that ever made the headlines
Couldn’t hold a candle to those green eyes

[Pre-Chorus]
Let the whole world stand and stare
There's nothin' as breathtaking as you girl

[Chorus]
The Seven Wonders ain’t got nothing on you
Not the Taj Mahal, not the ocean’s deepest blue
Not a sky full of stars on a summer night
Not the Eiffel Tower burning gold in the city lights
You’re a once-in-a-lifetime, out-of-the-blue
Make the whole world disappear kind of beautiful
Let ’em show me heaven, from an angel's view
The Seven Wonders ain’t got nothing on you

[Bridge]
They can carve it out of stone
Paint it on a cathedral wall
Put a million carats in a crown
And still not have it all
‘Cause the world’s got all these wonders
That’ll take your breath away
But when I look at you
Every one of them fade

[Final Chorus]
The Seven Wonders ain’t got nothing on you
Not the Taj Mahal, not the ocean’s deepest blue
Not the Northern Lights setting fire to the night
Not a million diamonds catching candlelight
You’re a once-in-a-lifetime, out-of-the-blue
Make the whole world disappear kind of beautiful
Let ’em show me heaven, from an angel's view
The whole wide world’s got nothing on you

[Tag]
Nothing on you
Girl, nothing on you

Holy Interlude

Plays: 0
Backstory
I was in prayer and the Lord spoke this to me.
Lyrics
The silence echoes in the sanctuary
Of a thousand whispered prayers
I keep listening for an answer
Wondering if you're still there
Every promise feels miles away
When I'm broken and alone
I took your quiet for leaving
When you were still on Your throne

Chorus
In the silence of the waiting
In the dreams you put on hold
In the prayers, you haven't answered yet
Is rest for my soul
In the pain there's yielding
In the ceasing, I'm renewed
You haven't turned your back on me
It's a holy interlude

There are seasons made for breaking
When the weight can crush your soul
When the hand that held tightly
Is forced to let go
I thought you abandoned me
That your silence meant you moved
You weren't absent in the stillness
You were teaching me interlude

Chorus
In the silence of the waiting
In the dreams you put on hold
In the prayers, you haven't answered yet
Is rest for my weary soul
In the pain is where there's yielding
In the ceasing, I'm renewed
You haven't turned your back on me
It's a holy interlude

In the stillness…
In the waiting…
In the quiet…
In the breaking…
Maybe Faith is simply resting
When I can't see your hand

That's where I'm renewed
Resting in your presence
Is holy interlude

Backstory
It's the desire of my heart...
Lyrics
I’ve stood beneath a thousand skies
Let Your wonders fill my eyes
But every glimpse of who You are
Just leaves me longing more for Your heart

I’ve heard You whisper through the flames
And felt the power of Your name
But every time I think I’m there
I find there’s more of You to be near

There’s no end to knowing You
No height of love you won't pursue
The more I seek You, the more I find
There’s so much more of You than can be defined

Pull me closer, closer still
So very near until I get my fill
Take me further than yesterday
Let my heart be swept away
Till there’s nothing left of me
Your love hasn’t filled completely
Nearer than I’ve ever been, until -
Jesus, I'm even closer still

Like thirsty ground beneath the rain
I want to drink You in again
Like branches reaching for the sun
Keep drawing me into Your love

Let every wall come crashing down
Till all I hear is heaven’s sound
And when I think I’ve touched Your heart
Draw me deeper than the start

Chorus

More of You, less of me
Till Your heart beats inside of me
More of You, my deepest will
Pull me closer, closer still

[Outro]
Closer still
Closer still
There’s always more of You
Closer still

Backstory
It's my heart's desire with my man....
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Your shirt, my hair, tangled in the sheets
Your heartbeat talking underneath my cheek
Your fingers tracing every line of me
Like somehow closer we could be

The whole world fading on the other side
Nothing between your heartbeat and mine
I pull you in, but it’s never enough
There’s no such thing as too much of us

[Chorus]
Pull me closer, closer still
Like your arms could bend the world to will
Like the stars could fall, the oceans spill
And I’d be reaching for you still

Closer than a whisper in the dark
Closer than the beating of your heart
If forever’s all the time we get
I haven’t gotten close enough yet
Pull me closer, closer still
Closer still

[Verse 2]
Let the clock run out, let the candles burn
There’s a thousand things about you left to learn
Every little scar, every secret dream
Every part of you that no one else has seen

I want the silence, I want the brutal truth
The years of gray right alongside the youth
When the fire gets quiet and the night grows old
I want your hand still wrapped around my soul

[Chorus]
Pull me closer, closer still
Like your arms could bend the world to will
Like the stars could fall, the oceans spill
And I’d be reaching for you still

Closer than a whisper in the dark
Closer than the beating of your heart
If forever’s all the time we get
I haven’t gotten close enough yet
Pull me closer, closer still

[Bridge]
If I could crawl inside your heartbeat
If I could live beneath your skin
If I could find the place where your dreams sleep
I’d find a way to get closer in

[Final Chorus]
Pull me closer, closer still
Like nothing else exists but this
Let the whole world disappear
There’s nowhere else I want to be but here

Closer than a whisper in the dark
Closer than the beating of your heart
If forever’s all the time we get
I haven’t gotten close enough yet
Pull me closer, closer still

Tennessee Plates

Backstory
I'm a blonde who had a 1978 (25th Year Anniversary) Corvette when I was moving to Nashville in the early 90s. It got a lot of attention! Sounded like a bat out of hell!
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I was flyin’ through Oklahoma, just mindin’ my own
When a red ’78 Corvette came a-haulin’ down the road
Long blonde hair blowin’ like a flag in the wind
Tennessee plates and a smile that could sin

She shot past me like a bullet from a gun
Grabbed my cell phone and called my best friend
Said, “Man, wish me luck - that I'm not too late
I’ve gotta find that girl with them Tennessee plates!”

[Chorus]
I’ve gotta get this truck further up the interstate
Find that blonde in the ’Vette with Tennessee plates
She’s got a little blacktop magic and a whole lotta sass
And a right-foot rhythm that’s burying the gas

I don’t know her name, don’t know my fate
But I’m head over heels and I can’t sit straight
Yeah, I’m lookin’ for love, and I just can’t wait
To find that blonde in the ’Vette with Tennessee plates!

[Verse 2]
Well, I blew by next exit, saw the blue lights flash
Pulled over on the shoulder, thought my heart would crash
Cop walked up, said, “Son, you know how fast you were goin’?”
I said, “Officer, there’s somethin’ you oughta be knowin’

I saw a blonde in a Corvette, man, she stole my soul
A ’78 model, and she was outta control
I’m just tryin’ to catch up, get a name and a date
She’s the one in the ’Vette with Tennessee plates!”

He said, “Son, slow down, you’re gonna wind up dead
You got a description of the girl?” I said, “Just her head
Of long blonde hair and that beautiful face
And a Tennessee tag on a Chevrolet!”

[Bridge]
Well, the cop shook his head, said, “I’ve heard it all
Ain’t every day a blonde brings a grown man to a crawl!"
I said, “Yes, sir, I hear what you’re tryin’ to say
But what if she’s the one that got away?"
He just laughed and said, “Boy, you’re outta your mind,"
Then threw me in the slammer for going 130 in a 65.

I’ve gotta get up on that interstate
Find that blonde in the ’Vette with Tennessee plates
She’s got a little blacktop magic and a whole lotta sass
And a ’78 Chevy that’ll haul some serious ass

I don’t know her name, don’t know my fate
But I’m bettin’ my boots she could be my soulmate
Yeah, I’m lookin’ for love, and I just can’t wait
To find that blonde in the ’Vette with Tennessee plates!

“Hey, buddy? Yeah, it’s me again. Listen...”

Backstory
All about me and my man....
Lyrics
I got my head up in the stratosphere
Chasing down a feeling that may or may not be here
Paint on my fingers, stars in my eyes
Make a left at the moon, take a right at the sky
I change my mind like the weather changes blue
Got a hundred big dreams and a half-baked plan or two
I'm a little bit magic, a little unsteady
Good thing there's a man who knows how to catch me

When I'm talking to the stars
He's got both feet on the ground
When I'm busy getting lost
He's the one who turns me 'round

Oh, he's got a name, but I call him Steady
When my world spins fast, he's already ready
I'm a wild little wind, he's a solid old tree
I'm a little bit gone, he's the gravity
Yeah, I fly too high, he don't clip my wings
Just gives me a place to land when I need
I'm a heart full of maybes, a little confetti
Oh, he's got a name, but I call him Steady

I buy one-way tickets to a state of mind
Fall in love with a sunset, lose track of time
Turn a kitchen table to an art café
Start three new things before the break of day
He's the check-the-oil, did-you-lock-the-door
The let's-not-buy-that-we-don't-need-it-for
And I roll my eyes when he says, "Baby, maybe"
But I kinda like the way he takes care of crazy

When I've got a thousand plans
He can see the one that's real
And he never kills the dream
He just gives it wheels

Chorus

Maybe I'm the spark
Maybe he's the flame
Maybe we're a little crazy
In a different kind of way
I don't need a cage
He don't need to chase
He just holds the ground beneath me
While I dance around in space

Chorus

He's got a name...
But I call him Steady.
Yeah, my favorite kind of ready.

Maybe, Maybe Not

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Woke up this mornin', sun shinin' bright
Got a little wild in me tonight
Might call my girls, might paint the town
Might throw on my boots and head downtown
Might hit a bar where the band's playin' loud
Might lose myself in a Saturday crowd
Might catch a look from a pair of blue eyes
Might be the start of a hell of a night

I ain't got a plan, ain't got a clue
Got a little time and a thing or two to do
I'm gonna let that moonlight call my name
If something happens, baby, that's the game!

Maybe, maybe not
Maybe hit the town, maybe hit the spot
Maybe meet a man with a little bit of charm
Maybe end up dancin' with his hand on my arm
Maybe say hello, maybe steal a kiss
Maybe find out what a little chemistry is
I came for a good time, that's all I've got
Maybe, maybe not!

Oh-oh, maybe, maybe not
Might get lucky, might not
Oh-oh, give it all I've got
Maybe, maybe not!

Might order a drink—well, a soda with lime
Might find a dance floor and lose track of time
Might catch him smilin' from across the room
Might let him wonder if I'm leavin' soon
He might walk over, he might play it cool
Might say somethin' clever, might act like a fool
I might give him my number, might leave him to guess
Might be a little trouble in a red silk dress

I ain't lookin' hard, I ain't keepin' score
But I sure ain't gonna sit at home by the door
If the stars line up and the feeling is right
Who knows what could happen tonight?

Chorus

Maybe he's the one, maybe he's just fun
Maybe we're still dancin' when we see the sun
Maybe it's a spark, maybe it's a flame
Maybe tomorrow I won't remember his name
But tonight's too young to be playin' it safe
So come on, cowboy, let's see what we make!

Chorus *Maybe meet a man who can turn my head
Maybe wake up smilin' at the things he said
Maybe steal a kiss, maybe fall in deep
Maybe be the reason he can't fall asleep
I came for a good time, but give it a shot
Maybe, maybe not!

Maybe, maybe not!
Might be you, might not!
Maybe, maybe not!
Come on, baby, take your shot!
Maybe, maybe not!
Who knows what we've got?

Comes With a Warning Label

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I’ve been out with her a time or two
She turns heads just walking through
There's something about her you can't quite explain
She’s a little bit sunshine, a lotta hurricane
She can be sweet, she can be mean
A little sugar mixed with gasoline
Got a wild streak and a mind of her own
She's too much for some, but I'm holding on

Chorus
She comes with a warning label
Handle with care, if you're able
A little hell in heels, a little heaven-sent
A little high maintenance, but worth every cent
A little bit of oh no, a lotta hell yes
A boat load of trouble in a little black dress
A little Sunday morning mixed with Saturday night
A little sugar and spice, and a roll of the dice
She’s buck wild and unpredictable
She should come with a warning label

Verse 2
She's a last-call laugh and a first-light drive
A "what were we thinking?" and a "damn, what a night"
She steals my fries and my favorite shirt
Takes me to heaven, loves me till it hurts
She stands her ground when she knows she's right
And ain't afraid to put up a fight
Sings off-key to every country song
Drives me crazy, but I keep singing along

[Pre-Chorus 2]
She ain't everybody's cup of tea
Got a little too much personality
Some men would run, but I ain't going nowhere
She's a little bit dangerous, and I don't care

Chorus
She comes with a warning label
Handle with care, if you're able
A little hell in heels, a little heaven-sent
A little high maintenance, but worth every cent
A little bit of oh no, a lotta hell yes
A boat load of trouble in a little black dress
A little Sunday morning mixed with Saturday night
A little sugar and spice, and a roll of the dice
She’s buck wild and unpredictable
She should come with a warning label

Bridge
Side effects include
Losing track of time
Staying up till morning
Losing my damn mind
Possible addiction
To her kind of crazy
No known cure, no guarantees
And that's just fine with me

Chorus
She comes with a warning label
Handle with care, if you're able
A little hell in heels, a little heaven-sent
A little high maintenance, but worth every cent
A little bit of oh no, a lotta hell yes
A boat load of trouble in a little black dress
A little Sunday morning mixed with Saturday night
A little sugar and spice, and a roll of the dice
She’s buck wild and unpredictable
She should come with a warning label

[Outro – Spoken with a grin]
They say she's trouble...
Yeah, I know.
But she's my kind of trouble.

Pheromones Got My Attention

Plays: 0
Lyrics
You walked in wearing that dangerous smile
Black shirt, blue jeans, making trouble worthwhile
I was minding my business, nursing my drink
Then you looked my way and I forgot how to think
That little half-grin, that look in your eyes
Had my common sense waving its last goodbye
Didn't know your name, didn't know your game
But something in the room just went up in flames

Then you said, "Hey, how you doing tonight?"
Low voice, slow drawl, hit me just right
Caught your scent when you stepped in close
Now I'm wondering what you know that I don't

Pheromones got my attention
Now I'm losing my good intentions
One look, one word, one breath of you
Got all five senses breaking loose
I see you, hear you, smell your cologne
Feel that electricity pulling me close
Don't know what it is, but I know what I want
Pheromones got my attention
Oh-oh, got my attention
Pheromones got my attention

You order a whiskey, voice smooth as sin
Bartender's pouring, I'm leaning in
You laugh at a joke, and I like that sound
Like a bass line shaking up the whole damn town
Your fingers brush mine when you pass me a lime
And suddenly I'm forgetting the concept of time
Little taste of your drink, little bite of your grin
Tell me, baby, where do I sign to get in?

Now your hand finds mine like it knows the way
And my skin's got something it wants to say
I came here alone, had a whole night planned
Now I'm one inch away from taking your hand

Chorus

Maybe it's your eyes
Maybe it's your voice
Maybe it's the way you make
A bad idea feel like a choice
Maybe it's your skin
Maybe it's your taste
Maybe it's the way my heart
Just picked up the pace
Call it chemistry, call it temptation
Whatever it is, it's a full-body sensation

Chorus* Got all five senses coming unglued
I see you, hear you, smell your cologne
Feel your fingertips and I'm halfway gone
Don't know what it is, but I know what I want
Pheromones, baby, turn it on!
Pheromones got my attention
Every little sense in overdrive, no question
I walked in alone, but I might leave with you
Tell me, baby, are your senses feeling it too?

[Outro]
Sight? Check.
Sound? Oh, yeah.
Touch?
Don't start.
Smell?
That's the problem.
Pheromones, baby...
You got my attention.

Surrender

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Verse 1
I’ve prayed a thousand prayers for answers
I’ve tried to change what I can’t change
I’ve held so tightly to tomorrow
As if my fear could make a way

Every plan I thought would save me
Every road I thought I knew
Has brought me to this moment, Jesus
With nothing left to hold but You

Chorus
I'll surrender
To the One who gives and takes away
I will trust You, Lord, today and every day
When blessings come, when dreams fall through
I’ll lay it all down here with You
When I struggle help me remember
Peace is found in surrender,
Oh Lord, help me surrender

Verse 2
When sickness comes and strength is failing
When money’s gone with bills remaining
When someone leaves I thought would stay
And nothing feels the same again

When doors swing shut I begged You to open
When silence leaves nothing but questions
I’ll bring the pieces of my heart
And trust Your love will hold me now

Chorus
I'll surrender
To the One who gives and takes away
I will trust You, Lord, today and every day
When blessings come, when dreams fall through
I’ll lay it all down here with You
When I struggle help me remember
Peace is found in surrender,
Oh Lord, help me surrender

Bridge
Not my will, but Yours be done
When I lose and when I’ve won
When I see and when I’m blind
When Your plans don’t look like mine

Final Chorus
I'll surrender
To the One who gives and takes away
I will trust You, Lord, today and every day
When blessings come, when dreams fall through
I’ll lay it all down here with You
When I struggle help me remember
Peace is found in surrender,
Oh Lord, help me surrender

I surrender, I surrender
Even when I cannot see
I surrender, I surrender
You can have control of me

So Long For So Long

Plays: 0
Lyrics
It’s been so long since I’ve come before Your throne
So many times You’ve called me, but I’ve stayed here on my own
I’ve made a million reasons why I couldn’t come to You
But every road I’ve taken has led me back to You

PRE-CHORUS

And shame has been the wall
That kept me from Your face
But I’m tired of running, Father
I’m coming home today

CHORUS

It’s been so long, for so long
Since I’ve fallen at Your feet
I need Your grace and mercy
To rain down over me

Let Your presence come and fill me
Let Your love reassure me
That I am Yours, that I am Yours
Oh, Father, I am Yours

It’s been so long, for so long
But I’m coming home to You

VERSE 2

I’ve let the voice of failure tell me I’m too far away
I’ve believed the lie that somehow I have lost my place
But You have never turned me out
You have never closed the door
And the arms I’ve been afraid to face
Are open like before

PRE-CHORUS

So here I am, with nothing
Nothing left to hide
I’m laying down my shame, Lord
And stepping into Your light

CHORUS

It’s been so long, for so long
Since I’ve fallen at Your feet
I need Your grace and mercy
To rain down over me

Let Your presence come and fill me
Let Your love reassure me
That I am Yours, that I am Yours
Oh, Father, I am Yours

It’s been so long, for so long
But I’m coming home to You

BRIDGE — BUILDING WORSHIP

Let it rain, let it rain
Let Your mercy fall again
Wash away my fear and shame
I am coming home again

Fill this heart, breathe in me
Bring me back to intimacy
I am Yours, forever Yours
I am Yours, forever Yours

BRIDGE — STRIPPED BACK / DECLARATION

I don’t have to hide
I don’t have to run
There is mercy in Your eyes
There is welcome in Your love

I don’t have to earn
What Your heart has freely given
I’m not standing at the door
I’m a child who’s been forgiven

FINAL CHORUS — FULL WORSHIP

It’s been so long, for so long
But I’m falling at Your feet
Let Your grace and mercy
Rain down over me

Let Your presence come and fill me
Let Your love reassure me
That I am Yours, that I am Yours
Forever I am Yours

It’s been so long, for so long
But Your love has brought me home

OUTRO — SOFT, REPEATED

I am Yours
I am Yours
I’ve been gone for so long
But I am Yours

Sacred Ground

Lyrics
Verse 1
I come before Your throne
With nothing of my own
Only a heart that longs for You
And all I am bows down
As heaven touches ground
I’m standing in the presence of You

Pre-Chorus
Holy, holy
My heart cries out

Chorus
This is sacred ground
Where Your glory comes down
Where the King of Heaven welcomes me
I am undone, I am found
At Your feet, I bow down
In the wonder of Your majesty
Oh, this is sacred ground
This is sacred ground

Verse 2
The veil is torn away
I enter in by grace
The blood of Jesus made a way
No fear and no disguise
Just tears before Your eyes
And all my soul has come to say

Worthy, worthy
You alone

Holy, holy

Maybe say hello, maybe steal a kiss
Maybe find out what a little chemistry is
I came for a good time, that's all I've got
Maybe, maybe not!

[Outro — Chant it with the groove]
Maybe, maybe not!
Might be you, might not!
Maybe, maybe not!
Come on, baby, take your shot!
Maybe, maybe not!
Who knows what we've got?

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Got that slow-burn look with a fast-lane smile
Make a little bit of trouble look good in style
Little black dress and a don’t-care stare
Leave a trail of electricity everywhere
Got a sweet side hiding under that heat
Sugar on your lips, got a kick underneath
You can play real nice, you can play real cool
But you break all the rules without breaking a rule

[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, you’re a little bit sweet, a little bit wild
Got that grown-up game with a dangerous smile
One taste, two steps, now I’m losing my cool
Baby, nobody warned me about you

[Chorus]
You’re spicy, spicy
Little bit sweet, little bit bitey
Hot like a spark when you move beside me
One look, one touch, got the whole room lively
Spicy, spicy
Cool on the outside, fire inside me
Pepper on your lips, got me talking too nicely
Oh, you don’t just turn it up — you ignite me
You’re spicy
Baby, baby, spicy

[Verse 2]
Got that midnight voice and that slow-talk drawl
Make a simple little sentence feel ten feet tall
A little cinnamon heat in the way you lean
Like a scene from a movie that they cut from the screen
You know what to say, know just when to tease
Leave a little mystery, bring me to my knees
Not the kind of flame that’s gone by dawn
You’re the kind of heat that keeps burning on

[Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, you’re a little bit sweet, a little bit wild
Got that innocent face with a wicked little smile
One glance, one laugh, now I’m changing my plans
Baby, you got me eating right out of your hands

[Chorus]
You’re spicy, spicy
Little bit sweet, little bit bitey
Hot like a spark when you move beside me
One look, one touch, got the whole room lively
Spicy, spicy
Cool on the outside, fire inside me
Pepper on your lips, got me talking too nicely
Oh, you don’t just turn it up — you ignite me
You’re spicy
Baby, baby, spicy

[Bridge]
A little slow dance, a little red wine glow
A little come-here smile saying don’t let go
Fingertips tracing circles in the palm of my hand
You make a simple moment feel like a dangerous plan
Sweet like honey, sharp like a flame
Every little detail keeps calling your name
If loving you’s a risk, let the whole world know
I like my sugar with a little bit of smoke

[Final Chorus]
You’re spicy, spicy
Sweet little kiss with a wild side hiding
Heart going boom and the bassline riding
One taste of you and the night’s still rising
Spicy, spicy
Every little move got me hypnotized, see
Sugar, smoke, and a little jalapeño heat
You got that can’t-get-enough kind of chemistry
Spicy!
Too hot to handle, too good to leave
Spicy!
Got that kind of fire running straight through me

Baby, baby—
You’re spicy!

Pheromones Got My Attention (Male, Country)

Lyrics
Verse 1
She walked in wearing that dangerous smile
Cutoff jeans, making trouble look like style
I was minding my business, nursing a drink
Then she looked my way, and I forgot how to think
Little bit of wild in those baby blues
Had me wondering what I had to lose
Didn't know her name, didn't know her game
But something in the air was about to change

[Chorus]
Pheromones got my attention
Now I'm losing my good intentions
One look, one word, one breath of you
Got all five senses breaking loose
I see you, hear you, smell your perfume
Feel that electricity pulling me close
Don't know what it is, but I know what I want
Pheromones got my attention
Oh-oh, got my attention
Pheromones got my attention

[Verse 2]
She ordered tequila, said, "Make it two"
I said, "Girl, you're trouble," she said, "Ain't that the truth?"
She laughed and leaned a little closer to me
Said, "You ain't seen nothing yet, just wait and see"
Her hand found mine when the band slowed down
We were two-stepping like nobody else was around
I came for a drink, wasn't looking for love
But one dance with her wasn't nearly enough

Pre-Chorus
She whispered something I won't repeat
Had my heart keeping time with that old backbeat

[Chorus]
Pheromones got my attention
Now I'm losing my good intentions
One look, one word, one breath of you
Got all five senses breaking loose
I see you, hear you, smell your perfume
Feel that electricity pulling me close
Don't know what it is, but I know what I want
Pheromones got my attention
Oh-oh, got my attention
Pheromones got my attention

[Bridge]
Maybe it's your eyes
Maybe it's your voice
Maybe it's the way you make
A bad idea feel like a choice

[Chorus]
Pheromones got my attention
Now I'm way past my good intentions
One look, one word, one taste of you
Got all five senses coming unglued
I see you, hear you, smell your perfume
Feel your fingertips and I'm halfway gone
Don't know what it is, but I know what I want
Pheromones, baby, turn it on!
Pheromones got my attention
Every little sense in overdrive, no question
I walked in alone, but I might leave with you
Tell me, baby, are your senses feeling it too?

[Outro]
Pheromones, baby...
You got my attention.

TO END WELL

Lyrics
VERSE 1
I’ve spent my days chasing shadows
I’ve spent my dollars on dust
I’ve given my heart to the fleeting
And called it a life I could trust
I’ve poured out my strength on the temporary
Let the eternal slip through my hands
Lord, now I’m looking back over the years
And I’m trying to understand...
What was it all for?

CHORUS
Help me to end well
Help me to finish strong
Show me what matters
Before my days are gone
Let every breath I have left
Let every moment of my life tell
Of one surrendered to You...
Lord, help me to end well

VERSE 2
Show me the people I’m missing
The ones You’ve been asking me to see
Give me the courage to love them
The way You’ve been loving me
Show me the work that is waiting
The words that I need to speak
Teach me to walk in obedience
And find You in the least of these

CHORUS
Help me to end well
Help me to finish strong
Show me what matters
Before my days are gone
Let every breath I have left
Let every moment of my life tell
Of one surrendered to You...
Lord, help me to end well

OUTRO:
When I stand before You
May my heart have this to tell:
By Your grace, I gave You everything...
Lord, help me to end well

By Your grace, I give You everything
Lord help me to end well
