Carolina

Plays: 1
Backstory
You asked for a positive relationship song.

I wrote Carolina directly from Darius Rucker’s recent memoir “Life’s Too Short”. Where he is constantly expressing his love for where he is from and the people in his life. This is his story, from his own words, put into a song.

He does not have anything like this in his repertoire…yet.

And yes, I used Suno to cover my lyric and melody.

Carolina
Randy Borman ©2026
812-453-8480

[verse]
There’s a place where I come from
Low country in the Southern sun
Spanish moss on an old oak tree
Smell of jasmine in an ocean breeze
Sunrise in Battery Park
A stroll on Chalmers after dark
Redfishin’ on the Charleston Flats
Barefoot in that Folly sand

[pre chorus]
This is who I am, every part of me
Where my soul was meant to be

[chorus]
Carolina, you will always be my home
You’re the lighthouse, when I’m lost out on the road
I might chase my dreams in Tennessee
But my heart still beats in 843
You’re my one thing, my only
No matter where I run, no matter where I go
Carolina, Carolina you’re my home

[verse 2]
Okra soup cooking on the stove
Al Green on the stereo
Singing every song, I know
On that, salt shaker microphone
College days in a little band
Gettin high, playin’ dorm room jams
Those were the best of times
Man, how they changed my life

[pre chorus]
If I had the chance, I’d trade them all
To sing mama…. one more song

[chorus]
Carolina, you will always be my home
You’re the lighthouse, when I’m lost out on the road
I might chase my dreams in Tennessee
But my heart still beats in 843
You’re my one thing, my only
No matter where I run, no matter where I go
Carolina, Carolina you’re my home

[outro]
Carolina, Oh Carolna, Carolina, Carolina you’re my home

Why Don't You Love Me

Plays: 1
Backstory
Every couple starts out making memories, but somewhere between paying bills, watching TV, and surviving everyday life, they stop making new ones. Why Don't You Love Me isn't about falling out of love—it's about waking up before you do. It's a reminder to put down the remote, grab your sweetheart's hand, and go find the couple you used to be.
Lyrics
Why Don’t You Love Me
Randy Borman 2026

[verse 1]
I’m still the same old fool
You met back in school
Who used to call you up each night
I’d whisper sweet nothin’s
Tell ya, you’re my Pumpkin
Yeah, that always made you smile

Now it seems like lately
You’re act’n like you hate me
So tell me girl, what’s up with that
Well I don’t want no drama
Let’s you an’ me be honest
I just want my baby back

[chorus]
Why don’t you love me
Why don’t you love me like you used to do
Why don’t you love me
Love me like you used to

[verse 2]
We used to stay out late
Laughin' the night away
Yeah we would party till the break of dawn
Little music and some dancin
Some midnight romancin
But now we just sit at home

All this worried ‘bout the money
Wishin’ we were doin’ something
Seems like I don’t treat you like I should
We’re always watching Housewives
Living up that high life
An’ doin things we never could

[chorus]
Why don’t you love me?
Why don’t you love me like you used to do
Why don’t you love me?
Love me like you used to

[bridge]
Let’s just get back to who we were (who we were, who we were)
Let’ do the things we used to do (we used to do, we used to do)
Let’s just get back to “you’re my girl” (“you’re my girl, you’re my girl”)
Lets just get back, to me and you

[chorus]

Rainy Day Song

Plays: 1
Backstory
Sometimes you get the best song ideas when you first wake up in the morning, just coming out of a good dream and not in a hurry to get up. That is how this song started.

I was thinking about how the good moments in our lives become memories we can hold onto and revisit years later. The idea of saving those moments like pennies in your pocket became the heart of the song. God gives us so many blessings along the way, and sometimes we don’t realize just how valuable they are until we look back on them.

“Rainy Day Song” is about recognizing those blessings while we’re living them, tucking them away somewhere deep in our hearts, and saving them for a rainy day.
Lyrics
Rainy Day Song
by Randy Borman 2026

[verse 1]
Sleepin in on a rainy day
I close my eyes and drift away, into a dream
While llistenin to the lazy sounds of the raindrops coming down

[verse 2]
Now I’m walking out on a golden beach of sand, with the one that I love
Reaching down I feel the touch of her hand, and I thank the Lord above
Cause God made moments like these just to fill our hearts with memories

[chorus]
Every blessing that you get, when the sun is shining
Like pennies in your pocket, save them up and you’ll find
Deep within your heart you can stow them all away
And save em for a rainy day yeah yeah yeah
Save em for a rainy day yeah yeah yeah
Just save em for a rainy day

[verse 3]
Someday we’ll all be sittin on porch swings, when we’re old and gray
Just a listnin’ to the songs that the birds sing
To the rhythm of the fallin’ rain
Yeah you’ll be dreamin’ about yesterday with that big ole smile shining on your face

[chorus]
Every blessing that you get, when the sun is shining
Like pennies in your pocket, save them up and you’ll find
Deep within your heart you can stow them all away
And save em for a rainy day yeah yeah yeah

[tag]
Just save em for a rainy day yeah yeah yeah
Just save em for a rainy day yeah yeah yeah
Just save em for a rainy day
Yeah save em for a rainy day
Just same em for a rainy day

Honky Tonk Blues

Plays: 0
Backstory
Honky Tonk Blues is all about celebrating the good times. I wanted to write a catchy, danceable, foot-stompin' party song that puts a smile on people's faces. Something with enough energy that you can't help but tap your foot, clap your hands, and get out on the dance floor.
I wanted the song to feel like the soundtrack to a Saturday night filled with good friends, cold drinks, live country music, in a place where you can "get loud, shake the ground, and rattle that roof!"
Lyrics
Honky Tonk Blues

FOUR LANE GYPSY

Plays: 2
Backstory
Always wanted to just grab my guitar and hit the road. Venturing into the unknown and chasing dreams but never had the nerve to do it. I guess life kinda got in the way and that may have been my greatest blessing. The chorus of the song is simply the voice of reason.
Lyrics
Four Lane Gypsy
By Randy Borman 2017

Runnin in no direction
Gonna leave it all behind
Got no rhyme or reason
Just got leavin on your mind

Four lane gypsy
Out on the road
Four lane gypsy
Gotta long way to go
Four lane gypsy, hey, hey
Why don’t you come on home

Chasin all those crazy dreams
Headin out for nowhere fast
Thumbin down in Tennessee
A six string devil on your back

Four lane gypsy
Out on the road
Four lane gypsy
Gotta long way to go
Four lane gypsy, hey, hey
Why don’t you come on home (Come on home boy)

Instrumental

White lines keep on rollin
Here come that ramblin bone again
Best watch where you’re goin boy
Cause that highway never ends (It just keeps on callin)

Four lane gypsy
Out on the road

Gotta long way to go
Four lane gypsy, hey, hey
Why don’t you come on home

Muddy Water

Plays: 0
Backstory
"Muddy Water" tells the story of a man who was cleansed and forever changed in a muddy river under the cover of night. I was drawn to the beautiful irony that someone could step into muddy water and come out spiritually clean. It reminds us that it isn't the water that saves us—it's the grace of Jesus Christ.

As I wrote the song, I couldn't help but think of Acts 16, where Paul and Silas shared the gospel with the Philippian jailer. After he placed his faith in Christ, he and his household were baptized that very night. There was no waiting until morning. When God changes a heart, there is no reason to delay.

Whether it happens in the clear waters of a mountain stream or the muddy current of the Mississippi, baptism is a picture of the old life being buried and a new life beginning. The river may be muddy, but God's grace is not. That's the message at the heart of this song.
Lyrics
Muddy Water
by Randy Borman

[verse 1]
They led me down to the bank of the river
It was so far away from any sort of living there
Well we waded in out past the cypress
We were standin with the moon and the Lord as our witness

[verse 2]
The preacher man said lay your hands on this Bible
He said everything you've done son is everything he died for
Now take those eyes, look down into that river
Stare one last time into the face of a sinner

[chorus]
I laid down, felt that cool water on my face
And oh, I let the Lord come into my soul
Them sinful burdens, I just watched them all just drift away
That night on the old Mississippi
I found the love that saved me

[verse 3]
This painful heart full of shame and confession
It was healed that night in a flood of redemption
I gave my soul to the hands of the Father
He washed it clean in that ole muddy water

[chorus]
I laid down, felt that cool water on my face
And oh, I let the Lord come into my soul
Them sinful burdens, I just watched them all just drift away
That night on the old Mississippi
I found the love that saved me

[tag]
I thank God for his old Mississippi and his love that saved me

Here I Am

Plays: 0
Backstory
The idea for Here I Am came during a time of quiet reflection as I looked back over my own walk with Christ. As I wrote, I realized the song had become a journey through the seasons of the Christian life.

It begins with coming to the Lord just as we are—worn, weary, and in need of His grace. As He makes us new, we respond by letting our lives shine for Him, lifting our voices in praise, and following wherever He leads. Finally, the song looks beyond this life with the hope of one day standing in His presence and living with Him forever.

The words, "Here I am, O Lord," became more than a lyric. They became a simple prayer of surrender—a willingness to place every season of life into His hands and simply say, "Lord, I'm Yours."

My prayer is that everyone who hears this song will recognize a part of their own journey and find themselves saying those same words: "Here I am."
Lyrics
Here I Am
by Randy Borman 2026

[verse 1]
Take this worn and weary soul
Straining from life’s weight
Let it rest, beneath Your yoke
Carried by Your grace
And I'll walk with You
Yes I'll walk with You
Here I am O Lord, Here I am

[verse 2]
Fill my voice with melody
A song of joy and praise
To give with every breath I breathe
Resounding all my days
And I'll sing for You
Yes I'll sing for You
Here I am O Lord, Here I am

[bridge]
Lift my eyes to always find
The wisdom of Your truth
Move my feet upon this path
To always follow You
Here I am O Lord, Here I am
Here I am O Lord, Here I am

[verse 3]
And when this world has passed me by
My body cold as stone
Lift me up through open skies
Set me by Your throne
And I’ll live for You
Yes I’ll live for You
Here I am O Lord, Here I am
Here I am O Lord, Here I am

Come to Me

Plays: 1
Backstory
"Come to Me" began several years ago at a Christian songwriters retreat led by Cindy Wilt Colville. As part of a writing exercise, Cindy divided everyone into small groups with people we had never met before and challenged us to write and perform a brand-new song in just one hour.

With such a short deadline, our group only had time to complete the chorus before sharing it with the rest of the retreat. Even in its unfinished form, I always felt there was something special about the message.

Later, I realized that some of the ideas naturally echoed an earlier song I had written called Come With Me. Both songs draw inspiration from Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11:28–30, where He calls the weary to come to Him, take His yoke, and find rest for their souls.

The unfinished chorus stayed with me for several years until I finally pulled it back out and completed the song a few months ago. My hope is that "Come to Me" reminds anyone carrying heavy burdens that Christ's invitation is as true today as it was when He first spoke those words—He is always ready to give rest, strength, and peace to those who come to Him.
Lyrics
Come to Me
by Randy Borman, Karen Dahlen, Brad Jensen, Angela Lee

[chorus]
Come to Me, when you are weary
Come to Me, bring all that you hold
Come and lay my yoke upon you
You'll find rest for your soul

[verse 1]
When your heart is heavy
When your spirit’s weak
These burdens, I will carry
Just let me be your strength

[chorus]
Come to Me, when you are weary
Come to Me, bring all that you hold
Come and lay my yoke upon you
You'll find rest for your soul

[bridge]
With each step of this journey here before you
I am here you will never walk alone
Oh precious child, let me pull you close
My love will never let you go

[chorus]
Come to Me, when you are weary
Just come to Me, bring all that you hold
Come and lay my yoke upon you
You'll find rest for your soul

MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN YOU

Plays: 3
Backstory
This song came easy — I just wrote about my wife.
I could spend all day staring at mountains, oceans, or starlit skies, but none of it comes close to what I see when I look into her eyes. There’s something holy in her smile, something heaven forgot to keep for itself.
“More Beautiful Than You” is a love letter wrapped in melody — a quiet reminder that sometimes, the most breathtaking part of God’s creation is lying right beside you.
Lyrics
More Beautiful Than You
by Randy Borman 2022

[verse 1]
A million stars ain’t got your heaven
And that ole moon ain’t got your shine
It don’t glow and it don’t glisten
Like the way you do tonight
Yeah I know it may sound crazy
Its crazy but its true
Ain’t nothin, more beautiful than you

[chorus]
When you smile
I see the love’n in your eyes
I know that I've, witnessed a glimpse of paradise
Here on this Earth, up from the ocean to the moon
Ain’t nothin, more beautiful than you

[verse 2]
I could climb the highest mountain
Just spend the day up with the clouds
Gaze out over all creation
No there’d never be a doubt
When I’m lying here by your side
Girl there could be no better view
Ain’t nothin, more beautiful than you

[chorus]
When you smile
I see the love’n in your eyes
I know that I've, witnessed a glimpse of paradise
Here on this Earth, up from the ocean to the moon
Ain’t nothin, more beautiful than you

[tag]
Yes on this Earth, up from the ocean to the moon
There ain’t nothin, more beautiful than you

(verse)
Hang the mistletoe, high above the door
Turn the lights way down low
By firelight we’re sipping eggnog with delight
While we feel the embers starting to glow

I see a twinkle in your eye
As we snuggle up real tight

(chorus)
Christmas in our hearts (Christmas in our hearts)
Christmas in our hearts (Christmas in our hearts)
Christmas in our hearts
It's like falling in love yeah yeah yeah

(verse)
Outside the window pane, snowflakes falling on the lane
As carolers sing our favorite songs
Swaying to the melody while we slow dance round the Christmas tree
Let’s steal a kiss before this moment’s gone

(pre chorus)
You and me together
Wish this night could last forever

Still Missing You

Plays: 4
Backstory
A few months ago, my wife lost her BFF after a battle with breast cancer. I wrote this song for her to bring her some comfort in a time of her life when she questions the reason why.
Lyrics
Still Missing You
By Randy Borman 2025

[verse 1]
Sometimes a star
Falls from the sky
Streaming a trail
As it fades in the night
Like an old friend
Who falls from our lives
Leaving their dreams and memories behind

[chorus]
Never thought I’d have to let you go
Be the one here left all alone
Feeling so hopelessly blue
I’m still missing you
Still missing you
Yes I’m still missing you
Still missing you

[verse 2]
I know that God
He made a plan
So many things
I don’t understand
Maybe someday
He’ll tell me why
But all we have now are tears and goodbyes

[chorus]
Never thought I’d have to let you go
Be the one here left all alone
Feeling so hopelessly blue
I’m still missing you
Still missing you
Yes I’m still missing you
Still missing you

RUNAWAY TRAIN

Plays: 3
Backstory
A good friend of ours has an occasional tendency to go off the rails when she has a few too many. I remember her husband making the comment to watch out cause her wheels are coming loose.
Thought it might make a fun song about a “train wreck”.
Lyrics
Runaway Train
Randy Borman ©2024

[verse 1]
She hit that bar just like a girl on a mission
She was all wound tight, fired up, and bitchin
Tellin her friends how that boss he had done her wrong

She got to gettin hell bent on drownin out her sorrows
They could keep that job she was quittin it tomorrow
Well she had it on her mind while she was workin on that double
She was going to get her due and there was gonna be some trouble

[chorus]
Hey, baby she’s a runaway train
Can’t slow her down so you best just get out of her way
Ohh, ain’t nothin holdin her back
Wheels are comin loose and the train’s comin off of the tracks

[verse 2]
Well she climbed on stage started talking on the speakers
She was shaking her fist like a back wood preacher
She was tellin that crowd if she’d ‘ave killed him it was justified

Rambled on and on ‘bout teachin’ him a lesson
“They should take that boss man throw his ass in prison”
When they pulled her off the stage she was swearin’ like a demon
Then she took off through the crowd started screamin “mas tequila”

[chorus]

[bridge]
Right now she’s steamin towards disaster
No brakes, her wheels are turnin faster
Full speed comin in to the junction
There’s gonna be pain, there’s gonna be destruction

[chorus]

[tag]
Hey, hey, she’s a runaway train
Hey, hey, she’s a runaway train
Hey, hey, she’s a runaway train
She’s a runaway train

MISSISSIPPI

Plays: 1
Backstory
The muddy river holds a deep dark secret.

She sits in quiet surrender, chains lurkingly coiled at her feet. She watches as the black water swallows the only love that ever stirred her blood.

Whether she returned to a life cloaked in the cruel hush of her husband’s jealous wrath,
or slipped beneath the moonlit stillness to keep her vow of forever by her lover’s side—no soul can say.

Only the river knows.
And the river does not speak.
Lyrics
Mississippi
Randy Borman ©2025

[intro]
Ooh ooh oooh
Ooh ooh oh oooh

[verse 1]
We all walked together to the bank of the river
While the full moon slithered through the Cypress trees
The oars creaked and rattled as we headed for the channel
With these rusty old chains wrapped around my feet

[chorus]
Ooh oh oh oh Mississippi
Muddy water running through them bones
Ooh oh oh oh Mississippi
No mercy for a dead man’s soul

[verse 2]
Well they never would’ve caught us, if his Mama hadn’t saw us
On the back porch sneaking that one last kiss
I whispered “it was worth it", was prayin you had heard it
As I watched you sinkin into that dark abyss

[chorus]

[bridge]
I promised you forever
If we’d run away together

[strong chorus]

Come With Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
As I was writing "Come With Me," I kept picturing Jesus with His disciples on the Sea of Galilee—the One who calmed the storm, walked across the water, and called ordinary fishermen to leave their nets and follow Him. The sea became a picture of life's uncertainty, while Jesus became the steady Captain who never loses His course.

The song is woven from several biblical themes. It echoes Jesus' invitation to "Follow Me," the peace He brought to frightened disciples in the middle of a storm, and His promise to lead us safely home. It also points to the comfort of Matthew 11, where Jesus invites the weary to find rest in Him, and to John 14, where He tells His followers not to let their hearts be troubled because He is preparing a place for them.

For me, this song is about trusting Christ when the waters are rough. We all face seasons when we've lost our bearings and can't see the shoreline ahead. In those moments, Jesus doesn't simply calm the storm—He invites us to follow Him. He becomes our Captain, our compass, and our faithful guide, leading us safely through life's storms to the harbor where our souls can finally find rest.
Lyrics
Come With Me
By Randy Borman and Sandee McMillen

[verse 1]
Like a ship out on the ocean
Battling the wind and rain
Lost within the sea’s emotion
You’re searching for your way

[verse 2]
Let Me be your Captain
The steady compass in your heart
I’ll be your soul’s companion
Your comfort through this storm

[chorus]
Come with Me, I'll lead you over
Troubled seas and bring you home
To a place where you can harbor
To a place to rest your soul

[verse 3]
I am always here beside you
The gentle wind filling your sail
A faithful star to guide you
A love that never fails

[chorus]
Come with Me, I'll lead you over
Troubled seas and bring you home
To a place where you can harbor
To a place to rest your soul
