FAMILIAR THINGS

Plays: 5
Backstory
My co-writer Wade had a cool melody but no lyric idea. He asked me to listen and see if I could come up with the lyrics. Hence Familiar Things. The orignal melody was not in a commercial song structure so I did work for hire melody work to lengthen and slightly modify it.
Lyrics
FAMILIAR THINGS
VERSE ONE
I'm sittin on this porch
Feet touchin’ worn floor boards
Seein th'same old sights
Under the cloudy sky

Red bird on the fence post
Corn we planted, in those straight rows
Our hearts carved in that tall oak
Tire swingin, from that frayed old rope

CHORUS
These are familiar things
Make me smile, still they sting
Draw my mind right back to the time
I was yours and you were mine
Those days, they’re long over
No use wishin' on a clover
Sometimes my heart just really needs
Familiar Things

VERSE TWO
All, the katydids still sing
Hear ‘em, from our wood swing
Trains whistle in the night
I turn off the front porch light

Frogs croak from the moss pond
While the fireflies light up the lawn
And the call of that brown Marsh Wren
Always makes me, remember when

CHORUS
Instrumental Bridge

OUTRO
I'm still here
where you belong

HAYFIELDS AND HIGH HEELS

Plays: 3
Backstory
I wanted to write a new version of a pedestal song. I wrote a version from a female perspective and a male perspective. I've uploaded the male version. Where it came from, well, I grew up and still live on a farm and I love high heels so......
I wrote the lyrics and the melody was work for hire.
Lyrics

HAYFIELDS AND HIGH HEELS
INTRO
My girl is hayfields and high heels
Hayfields and high heels

VERSE ONE
Like every ocean on this earth
She’s got a low and a high tide
One moment she’s calm and quiet
the next all energy and spice
She fills those Wrangler’s like its her job
As pretty from the front as behind
You boys can look all you want
But all her sides are mine

CHORUS
My girl’s Hay fields and high heels
Alfalfa and Hydrangeas
Likes rusty trucks, wears pink blush
As different as night and day is
She’s always been that way
Both sides of her are real
From tackle and bait, to fish on a china plate
She’s hayfields and high heels

VERSE TWO
A side of her is strong as steel
She works, her hands get dirty
Then in a flash she’s soft and sweet
Nails polished by six-thirty
There ain’t a box that she can’t tick
She’s my one and only
Fixes her lipstick, one hand on the stick shift
Ain’t no one trick pony

CHORUS

OUTRO
May not be conventional
She ain’t one-dimensional

GRIT

Plays: 7
Backstory
I wrote this song about my dad. Every word is 100% true. I gave this to him as a gift for Christmas 2023. I wrote the lyrics and the melody was work for hire.
Lyrics

GRIT
VERSE ONE
He taught me how to drive a post
How to stretch a fence
Showed me how to clean a fish
Pitch a Coleman tent
Used his knife not a needle
To get my splinters out
I'd hold real still, try not to cry
Just to make him proud

CHORUS
Yeah I’m a daddy’s girl,
But not in the usual way
Wasn't pampered, or polished,
Worked more than I played
A diamond’s the hardest rock in the world
But my dad knew, it takes grit to make a pearl

VERSE TWO
Yeah no one has a dad like mine
God only made the one
And yeah I am his daughter
But he raised me like a son
Looking back it’s plain to see
Didn’t know how much I had
God’s greatest gift to me
Was to give me my dad

CHORUS

BRIDGE
He’s 86, it’s half past six, he’s just in from the fields
Tomorrow comes, he’ll be up with the sun.
Takes one to make one.
GRIT

CHORUS

COUNTRY CHRISTMAS

Plays: 3
Backstory
I grew up on a farm in Kentucky and am from a very big family. I built a farmhouse on one of our farms and it is a wonderful getaway for my family. I wrote this song inspired by both my family and the farm. At the end of each verse there is a bit of humor which keeps this song bright and moving along.
Lyrics
COUNTRY CHRISTMAS
INTRO
I just can’t believe the year is almost through
Time for another Country Christmas with you

VERSE ONE
Let’s hang a wreath on the barn door
String holly across the gate
Put lanterns along the gravel road
To help and light the way
For our folks who will join us
This year on Christmas Eve
Wonder who’ll be the first to arrive
And the very last to leave?

CHORUS
It’s another country Christmas
Who could ask for more?
Never wanna miss this
Don’t even mind the chores
Well the mistletoe hangs from the hickory beam
Above these old pine floors
I’ll kiss you and I’ll tell you
Each year I love you more

VERSE TWO
I’ll cut that cedar by the back field
You find the ornaments and lights
We’ll wrap the gifts in brown craft paper
Tied up with baling twine
Where’s the scissors and the tape?
Have we lost them both again?
What’ll we do with the fruitcake
Aunt Sandy always sends?

CHORUS

VERSE THREE
I’ll build a fire in the fireplace
On Christmas Eve we’ll gather round
There’ll be singing, glasses clinking
Mulled wine for our whole crowd
We’ll be elbow to elbow
Once we sit down to have
A homemade Christmas supper
And cranberries from a can

CHORUS

OUTRO
I don’t wanna miss this
I don’t wanna miss this
I’d never wanna miss another country Christmas

CLOSER THIS CHRISTMAS

Plays: 2
Backstory
I wrote 100% of the lyrics for this song and the melody was work for hire.
Lyrics
CLOSER THIS CHRISTMAS
VI
I watch the busy shoppers
Rush in and out of stores
Walk next to footprints in the snow
Wishing they were yours
String lights, wreaths, on every street
Just leave me wantin more
Is it the smoke from the chimneys
Or the thought of you that’s got me feeling warm?

CHORUS
Let’s get closer this Christmas
These hearts have been apart for way too long
I love what we had and I miss it
Don’t ya think togethers where we belong?
This year I’ve only got one wish
Let’s Get closer this Christmas

V2
We can watch “It’s a Wonderful Life”
Or catch the holiday displays
I don’t mind, it’s up to you
I just wanna see your face
And the smile that’s yours alone
A familiar mystery
Distance has shown me that
We ain’t meant to be a memory

CHORUS

CHORUS

YOU'RE ALL THE CHRISTMAS

Plays: 1
Backstory
I wrote 100% of the lyrics to this song and the melody was work for hire. This was my first AABA song attempt.
Lyrics
YOU’RE ALL THE CHRISTMAS

VERSE ONE
We don’t need to hang the string lights
On the railin or the roof
And the front door don’t need no wreath
When all I’m lookin at is you.
You don’t need to go and find
The perfect gift for me
You’re all the Christmas
You’re all the Christmas I need

VERSE TWO
Holiday party invitations
Piling up by the door
As soon as we RSVP
Here comes a couple more
Office party’s Thursday night
How early can we leave?
You’re all the Christmas
You’re all the Christmas I need

BRIDGE
When I see your pretty face the world just melts away
Like snow on a sunny day…
You’re all the Christmas
You’re all the Christmas I need

VERSE THREE
The minute I laid eyes on you
You made this heart your home
You filled it up, I gave it up
Now it’s your very own
Gonna spend the whole night
Wrapped up in you and me.
You're all the Christmas
You're all the Christmas I need

You're all the Christmas
You're all the Christmas I need

COME BACK FOR CHRISTMAS

Plays: 2
Backstory
I wrote 100% of the lyrics and the melody was work for hire.
Lyrics
COME BACK FOR CHRISTMAS

VERSE ONE
This ol town knows
How to wear the season
We’ve had lots a snow
Looks good on the trees and
There’s lights everywhere
Smoke from the chimneys
Smell makes it impossible
Not to want you with me
The coffee shop you love downtown
Has a couple in every window
The wreath on my front door
Well that’s your welcome home
You don’t ever stay too long
Still I need to know
If you’llllllllll

CHORUS
Come back for Christmas
Please come back for Christmas
Yeah I’m feelin the distance
So baby please come back
Come back for Christmas

VERSE TWO
Your heart beats to
the rhythm of the highway
Pulse starts racin’ when
White lines roll away
I close my eyes and
I can see you now
Turnin the radio up
Rollin’ the windows down
Driver’s side beauty
With a taste for adventure
Hope when you hear those songs
That start playin in November
You’ll smile and you’ll sing along
Loud Enough to remember
Tooooooooo

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Well the miles between us feel as hard as the pavement
Under those restless wheels that keep on spinnin’
But baby did you know that when the road ends
Those same streets that took you away from me
Well they can bring you home again?

CHORUS

Chasin' Summer

Plays: 4
Backstory
This song title was Parker's. He wanted it to be a double meaning song, about missing and loving Summer the season, as well as Summer the girl. We went for a classic 90s country sound.
Lyrics
CHASIN’ SUMMER

VERSE ONE
It’s a quiet lake town til June comes around
Locals love and hate this time of year
It gets louder and more crowded there’s ain’t no doubt about it
That’s how you know Summer’s here

Seabreeze from the East well it brings me to my knees
Takes the sore outa these missin’ her eyes
Pretty as the sparkle on that crystal blue water
Smells like sunshine and honeysuckle vine

CHORUS
Yeah I’m chasin Summer
Sweet sweet Summer
She’s here again
And I’m gonna be alright

Yeah I’m chasin Summer
Sweet sweet Summer
Long days long legs
And tangled up nights

VERSE TWO
I’ll pack up the boat and we’ll head to a quiet cove
She’s gonna get my motor runnin
Weathermen say we’ll hit 98 today
It can’t get hotter than Summer

This girl’s bikini, light green and teeny
Boy let me tell you it suits her well
Lovin that girl til those painted toes curl
That’s why my heart is still….

CHORUS
Chasin’ Summer
Sweet sweet summer
She’s here again
And I’m gonna be alright

Yeah I’m chasin Summer
Sweet sweet Summer
Long days long legs
And tangled up nights

BRIDGE
Say say Summer, do you ever wonder
If together’s is where we belong?
You’re real hard to miss and I can’t help but wish
I could stay with Summer all year long

CHORUS
Chasin’ Summer
Sweet sweet summer
She’s here again
and I’m gonna be alright

Yeah I’m chasin Summer
Sweet sweet Summer
Long days long legs
And tangled up nights

Long days long legs
And tangled up nights

Empty

Plays: 4
Backstory
I started playing with the idea of feeling emotionally empty and wanting to compare that to things that are empty, or things that are sad when they are empty.
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Like a sky lit by a billion stars
His love filled me up
Everything else slipped away
Thought he was more than enough
Then one by one those stars went dark
Like chalk getting erased
Where nighttime used to shimmer
Now there’s only space

CHORUS
Now it feels how it feels to be
A song no one’s playin’
A canvas with no painting
A church where nobody’s prayin’
Words he said just to say ‘em
Left me empty
Empty

VERSE TWO
When you’ve had so much then it’s lost
It gnaws at you like hunger
Twists and crashes, churns and swells
Like A wave you’re drowning under
Promises and wishes
All get washed away
A calendar with no tomorrow
Big black circle on yesterday

CHORUS
Now it feels how it feels to be
A song no one’s playin’
A canvas with no painting
A church where nobody’s prayin
Words he said just to say ‘em
Left me empty
Empty

OUTRO
Yeah it feels how it feels to be
A song that no one’s playin’
A canvas with no painting
Empty
As the house he just moved out of
The promise he ran out on
The love he fell right out of
Left me Empty
Empty
Empty

Now it feels how it feels when
Forever’s somehow over
Cryin’ without a shoulder
Wind blows a little colder
And all alone
Empty

There is both a male and female version of this song and there are versions with and without the lyric intro.
Lyrics
INTRO
Hayfields and high heels…
Hayfields and high heels….

VERSE ONE
Like every ocean on this earth
I’ve got a low and high tide
One minute I’m calm and quiet
The next all energy and spice
I like room service, five-star hotel
White tablecloth and French champagne
Tomorrow I’ll be horseback runnin’
Cattle through the gates

CHORUS
I'm Hay fields and high heels
Alfalfa and Hydrangeas

As different as night and day is
I’ve always been this way
Both sides of me are real
From tackle and bait
To fish on a china plate
I’m hayfields and high heels

VERSE TWO
One side of me is strong as steel
I work my hands get dirty
The other side is soft and sweet
Nails polished by six thirty
There ain’t a box that I can’t tick

I fix my lipstick, one hand on the stick shift
Ain't no one trick pony

CHORUS

BRIDGE
May not be conventional
But I'm not one-dimensional

CHORUS

MY COUNTRY PEOPLE

Plays: 3
Backstory
My original title for the song was "People in the Country". I wanted the premise to be about a person who was "stuck" in the city for professional reasons but longed to get back to the country and the type of people there. In the writing session we optimized the idea to be "My Country People".
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Landed me a big job workin’ in the city
Concrete canyons littered in graffiti
Sidewalk, bus stop, subway busy
Laying that smog on thick

Family calling, doing good? Hell no,
Everybody here too fast lane for a hello
Got their head down, nose stuck in a cell phone
And all I’m selling is homesick
Man, I gotta make a run quick

CHORUS
Gotta get back to a church on Sunday
Kids carving out their names in an oak tree
Barely getting over 55 on the needle
No unleaded round there, just diesel

Gotta get back to kickin up, getting dusty
Red dirt paradise, yeah, trust me,
Big City living, man, it oughta be illegal
Gotta get back to my country people

VERSE TWO
Back to where you know the name of all your neighbors
Give a wave when you’re passing by a stranger
Bailer rolling hay on the back 40 acres
Can’t get it out of my head

Gotta get back to where that bluegrass (is) greener
Where the sun is hot and the ice teas sweeter
Got me backwood riverbank fever
So as soon as this traffic jam is clearer

CHORUS

BRIDGE

You can take the boy out of the country but
Won’t be for long

CHORUS

Gotta get back to a church on Sunday
Kids carving out their names in an oak tree
Barely getting over 55 on the needle
No unleaded round there, just diesel

Gotta get back to kickin up, getting dusty
Red dirt road paradise, yeah, trust me,
Big City living, man, it oughta be illegal

Gotta get back to my hardworking, God loving
Honey suckle Son of a gunnin’ country people
My country people
Oh Yeah

Coast of Your Love

Plays: 3
Backstory
We knew we wanted to write a love song that could find it's way onto the likes of Love Island or something similar. Jarrel is an amazing producer who just started playing some tracks and the groove was so cool the ideas just flowed. Jarrel is the one that originally sang Coast of Your Love and we made that the title.
Lyrics
COAST OF YOUR LOVE

VERSE ONE
Sweet girl I can see you in the summer light
Away from all the city lights
Ocean breezes through your hair
Wasn’t sure if you’d be there

CHORUS
On the coast of your love
Ride the wave because
Feeling the motion
The water breathes us
Til the tide pulls us in
Just beneath your skin
Floating forever
On the coast of your love

VERSE TWO
Drowning in passion collide with the sea
Love in a bottle comin to me
Endless horizons beginning to see
Jewel of the ocean you’re all I need

CHORUS

OUTRO
The coast of your love
The coast of your love
The coast of your love
The coast of your love

INSTRUMENTAL

Just the Way She Is

Plays: 1
Backstory
I had the title and first pass V1 and Chorus and we perfected the song in the room.
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
She can never find her keys
So she’s often late for work
She’ll search the house up and down
Then find them in her purse
She has a closet full of jeans
But none she really likes
They’ll be 10 more on the floor
‘Fore we head out tonight

PRE-CHORUS
She don’t mean to drive me out my mind
Sometimes i think she does it out of spite

CHORUS
It’s just the way she is
Sometimes I wonder if
It’s the way god made her
(But) Lord I’d never change her
She’s an imperfectionist
Inconsistent at her best
Thank god i found her
I could’t live without her
There’s a million thing she wishes she could fix
But I love that girl just the way she is

VERSE TWO
When that long road takes its toll
She’ll go the the extra mile
Keep me on that track to hell and back
Just to make me smile

PRE-CHORUS
She don’t mean to drive me out my mind
I’m glad I got her shotgun on this ride

CHORUS
It’s just the way she is
Sometimes I wonder if
It’s the way god made her
(But) Lord I’d never change her
She’s an imperfectionist
Inconsistent at her best
Thank god i found her
I couldn't live without her
There’s a million thing she wishes she could fix
But i love that girl just the way she is

Water Color You

Plays: 2
Backstory
I brought the idea of "Watercolor Holiday" into the room and the premise of a couple needing to escape the fast pace of the big city. In the room this got optimized into "Water Color You".
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Lately you been chasin’ deadlines
Steppin’ round land mines
Trying to keep up with the heels on your feet
In a town where hopes and dreams
Can fall between
The hard edges and concrete

PRE CHORUS
Maybe we can catch a red eye
Right out of this gray sky

CHORUS
And find some water colors
Crystal blue, beach grass green
I’ll let ya steal the view
Bleed into each other
Baby how’s that hit you?
Cause If you ask me
That paints a pretty picture
Can’t wait to……
Watch the water color you

VERSE TWO
You can be my seaside Mona Lisa
The world would pay to see you
But only I know what that smile means
We can check in to a pink sand motel
Be our postcard selves
Fade into a sunkissed scene

PRE CHORUS

CHORUS

TAG
Yeah lately you been chasin’ deadlines
Steppin’ round land mines
Trying to keep up with the heels on your feet…

HONKY TONK HAIR

Plays: 2
Backstory
This was my co-writer Taylor Borton's title idea. She brought it to the write and we all jumped on it. This set of lyrics actually just received an Honorable Mention from American Songwriter's Lyric Contest and we won the "Make Some WAVS" promotion and our prize is a free full demo of the song from Nashville Demo works.
Lyrics
HONKY TONK HAIR

VERSE ONE
She’s an overtime kinda girl
Savin some bucks for a cut and curl
Lookin like Dolly in ‘69
Closer to heaven teased up that high
Usually pulled back in a baseball cap
Y’all be careful if ya strike a match

CHORUS
She’s wearin’ white rain in the neon sun
Making all the cowboys come undone
Tight Levis with a Friday night flare
Struttin like a scratch off millionaire
With a straight up sprayed up
Decked out downtown
Don’t care Honky Tonk Hair

VERSE TWO
First one dancin’ when the band starts to play
Monday’s a thousand miles away
Forgetting the boss and the bills and the rent
It was worth that 25 she spent
There’s somethin’ to be said about her style
A little bit extra in the half price aisle

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Brunette, blonde short or long
Straight or wavy, can’t go wrong

CHORUS

Blue Collar Blue Print

Plays: 1
Lyrics
BLUE COLLAR BLUE PRINT

VERSE ONE
Salt of the earth comes from the sweat of my brow
I get up with the sun at it til it goes down
If it’s worth doin’ better do it right
Cut once measure twice

PRE CHORUS
It’s more than a living
It’s a way of life…

CHORUS
I was made from a blue collar bluepint
Only hard workin people like me would get it
If the steel toe fits I wear it
It’s just common sense
Common sense
Get up in the morning, jeans and a shirt
Paid by the hour, hands in the dirt
All day long I give it all I’m worth
Let me give you a hint
I was made from a blue collar blue print

VERSE TWO
What I learned didn’t’ come from any high school book
Mom and dad weren’t rich but they did what they could
I wouldn’t have it any other way
At the end of a long hard day

CHORUS

INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE

CHORUS

TAG
Let me give you a hint
I was made from a blue collar blue print
Oh yeah

Lyrics
BUTTERFLYING

Needed the night to help me see the day
Tearin’ it up, breaking through
It’s time for change
Spreading my wings
Gonna soar away

Pretty Reckless

Plays: 1
Backstory
I liked the idea of a different kind of pedestal song, a guy in love with a girl that is beautiful, to him, but also loves to take risks and have fun.
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
I met one or two right rope walkers
But none that did it in high heels
You look like a million dollar for dollar
Ferrari red chevy turnin’ dirt in a field

PRE CHORUS
Girl, from the first time I saw. you
Knew I was gonna have to call you

CHORUS
Hey pretty reckless
Your Maybelline blush
Adrenaline touch
Yeah what a rush
Like high stakes in Vegas
You make my heart race
It’s all I can take
Chasin ‘you
Leavin’ me breathless
Hey Hey pretty reckless

VERSE TWO
I spend a lot of time thinking about you
You’re easy to love and hard to forget
Wish you could be me when I’m around you
Sky high on the edge of what’s comin ‘next yeah

Into your mustang stompin’ ground

CHORUS

Water Color Christmas

Plays: 2
Lyrics
VERSE

Lists are long
Dark grey cold winds blowing

You’ve been working hard to get it all done
Fore it starts snowing

Between lights to hang
Trees to trim
Long list of cards to send
Boring office parties to attend

PRECHORUS
Stop shopping, baking, wrappin’
Baby let’s start packing

(And we’ll)
CHORUS
We'll hang white sand dollars on a lighted palm tree
Put our mistletoes in some golden sand

Warm up to the glow of a tropical tan
Where drinks are pink, sky is endless
Lovin’ you’s my only business
Let’s have a watercolor Christmas

Cotton candy sunset shining on your pretty face
That yellow two piece in December
Sure would suit you babe
Mai Tai’s in paradise

How about you and I
Book those two one-ways tonight

Leave ho, ho, home and take a trip
We can fa fa fall right off the grid

VERSE ONE
I never stay out late
I didn’t know this bar
Had a second happy hour
But baby here we are
Running up that tab
Throwing them back

And I ain’t got much rhythm
I was born with 2 left feet
Wallflower on a mission
But baby look at me
Cutting that rug
Made of sawdust
I’m a new man now

CHORUS
Crazy’s contagious

Next thing you know, it’s in the bones,
In the air, and in the blood
I got the bug

PAINTED HORSES

VERSE ONE
Sometimes I close my eyes and I still see
A colorful parade of carousel ponies
We went round and round not thinkin’ bout the end
Three minute thrill worth every cent

CHORUS
Didn’t know where we were goin
Or how we were getting’ there
We weren’t ridin off into the sunset
But we didn’t care
We had ticket stubs a couple bucks
A carnival of choices
Nothing chasin’ us
But Painted Horses

VERSE TWO
When it stopped we got back in line
Racin’ to be first the second time
We each knew which one we were gonna choose
Thought it’d last forever nothin to lose

Country Christmas - Female Vocal

Plays: 0
Backstory
I grew up on a farm in Kentucky, part of a very large nuclear and extended family. Christmas is and was a very important holiday for us.
Lyrics
INTRO (slower)
I just can’t believe the year is almost through
Time for another Country Christmas with you

VERSE ONE
Let’s hang a wreath on the barn door
String holly across the gate
Put lanterns along the gravel road
To help and light the way
For our folks who will join us
This year on Christmas Eve
Wonder who’ll be the first to arrive
And the very last to leave?

CHORUS
It’s another country Christmas
Who could ask for more?
Never wanna miss this
Don’t even mind the chores
Well the mistletoe hangs from the hickory beam
Above these old pine floors
So kiss me and then tell me
Each year you love me more

VERSE TWO
You cut that cedar by the back field
I’ll find the ornaments and lights
We’ll wrap the gifts in brown craft paper
Tied up with baling twine
Where’s the scissors and the tape?
Have we lost them both again?
What’ll we do with the fruitcake
Aunt Sandy always sends?

CHORUS

VERSE THREE
Let’s build a fire in the fireplace
On Christmas Eve we’ll gather round
There’ll be singing, glasses clinking
Holiday, festive sounds
We’ll be elbow to elbow
Once we sit down to have
A homemade Christmas supper
And cranberries from a can

CHORUS

OUTRO
I don’t wanna miss this
I don’t wanna miss this
I’d never wanna miss another country Christmas

The North wind is blowing
Crowds, busy sidewalks
Plastic Santas on rooftops

PRE
There’s nothin wrong with a hometown holiday
Oh but I been dreamin’ bout a sunny getaway

CHORUS
Just south of Christmas
There's sunshine and a gentle breeze
Just south of Christmas
Are lazy days under palm trees
Where the water is clear
A laid back kinda cheer
I got a mistletoe wish
For a saltwater kiss
Just south of Christmas

VERSE TWO
A green umbrellas’ our pine tree
Warm sand wrapped around my feet
Pina coladas stead of eggnog
Hits the spot when it's hot gets ya lost

CHORUS

But this year I wanna do Christmas a different way

CHORUS

Closer this Christmas - Female Vocal

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
I watch the busy shoppers
Rush in and out of stores
Walk next to footprints in the snow
Wishing they were yours
String lights, wreaths, on every street
Just leave me wantin more
Is it the smoke from the chimneys
Or the thought of you that’s got me feeling warm?

CHORUS
Let’s get closer this Christmas
These hearts have been apart for way too long
I love what we had and I miss it
Don’t ya think togethers where we belong?
This year I’ve only got one wish
Let’s Get closer this Christmas

VERSE TWO
We can watch “It’s a Wonderful Life”
Or catch the holiday displays
I don’t mind, it’s up to you
I just wanna see your face
And the smile that’s yours alone
A familiar mystery
Distance has shown me that
We ain’t meant to be a memory

Watercolor Christmas - Female Vocal

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Days are short, lists are long
Dark grey cold winds blowing
We’ve been working hard to get it all done
Before it starts snowing

Between lights to hang
Trees to trim
Long list of cards to send
Boring office parties to attend

PRECHORUS
So let’s stop shopping, baking, wrappin’
Baby let’s start packing

(And we’ll)

CHORUS
Hang white sand dollars on a lighted palm tree
Put our mistletoes in some golden sand
We can sway to the beat of the teal blue sea
Warm up to the glow of a tropical tan
Where drinks are pink, sky is endless
And lovin’ you’s my only business
Let’s have a watercolor Christmas

VERSE TWO
I can see a Cotton Candy sunset
Shining on your face
Got that yellow two piece
Packed in my suitcase

Don’t Mai Tai’s in paradise
Sound like a real good time?
How about you and I
Book those two one-ways tonight

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Leave ho, ho, home and take a trip
Let’s fla, fla, fla right off the grid

CHORUS

TAG
Go where drinks are pink, sky is endless, let’s start us a new tradition
And have a watercolor Christmas

Half Open

Plays: 1
Backstory
I've had this title idea for a while and glad to have written it. This is my 100% my co-writer and my original melody and lyrics but this is an AI assisted Demo.
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Came across your old flannel
Still smells like my perfume
Almost pulled it close
To take comfort in the blue
If you’re gone then how are you still
Hanging round here boy?
It’s like I’m stuck and faded into
Some old polaroid

CHORUS
I’ve played that song
“I’m Movin On”
But I don’t get where I’m going
Held on way too tight too long
To something that was broken
It’s so hard to close a door
With a heart half open

VERSE TWO
Half opened that bottle of red
Then put it back on the shelf
Cause missing you those first few weeks
It hurt more than it helped
Looking through half opened blinds
Time to let a little sunshine in
What’s the harm, if I start
To live my life again

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Gonna catch a little blue sky
Let goodbye be goodbye
Or at least give it a good try
Good try

CHORUS

Picture Talk

Plays: 1
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Her name was Sarah McCarthy
She was bullied in those high school days
Yeah but all I wrote was “Have a good summer”
Across her face on the yearbook page

Her eyes said “Please somebody talk to me”
In that frozen moment of time
I could’ve made a difference in her life
But I was too caught up in mine

CHORUS
Maybe Idda sat up and listened
Slowed down enough to pay attention
Wish I’d heard what the camera caught
It said a lot
Oh if I could make a picture talk

VERSE TWO
Ten years time Annie and I
On the rim of the Grand Canyon Bluffs
But she was a million miles away
When that stranger took this shot of us

She was holdin’ on for dear life
But on the edge of letting go
Smilin’ but she wasn’t happy
I wish she would’ve said so

CHORUS
Maybe Idda sat up and listened
Slowed down enough to pay attention
Wish I’d heard what the camera caught
It said a lot
Oh if I could make a picture talk

BRIDGE
The times that passed
The good and bad
And all the in betweens
Are speaking now, right out loud
Like they never spoke to me

CHORUS

Matters

Plays: 1
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
This head on my shoulders
Minds the heart on my sleeve
Might let you hold it girl
But it ain’t yours to keep
Gave it away like a fool before
Man I was so naive
Thinkin’ I should walk away
Fore you get the best of me

CHORUS
It’s mind over matter
Rings around Saturn
Walls of willpower
Guard against the pain
But you’re breaching my defenses
Tearing down my fences
Losin’ all my senses
Meltin’ down my brain
Turning… my …mind
To what matters

VERSE TWO
This hand that you’re holdin’
And the way you’re kissing me
Is burnin’ down my fortress
I can hardly breathe
The boundaries of my soul
Are bustin’ at the seams
Keep doin what you’re doin girl
You’re making me believe

CHORUS

BRIDGE
The fact of the matter is
No matter what happens is
You’re all that matters….. to me
Yeah you’re all that matters to me

CHORUS

Between You and Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
I liked the idea of bringing multiple meanings to the phrase "Between You and Me" and wanted the same chorus to be interpreted quite differently after each of the verses and what transpires in them.
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
I’m the only one
You said you’d ever want
You rushed home at 5 o’clock
When work was done
Two wildflowers in a field
Turning toward the sun
Side by side hand in hand
Closer than the touch….

CHORUS
Between you and me
Is a love I didn’t see
Happened out of nowhere
Knocked me off my feet
Hard to catch my breath
Feeling weak in the knees
There’s a lot more than I thought could be
Between you and me

VERSE TWO
You left this morning
With so much on your mind
Seemed so far away
When we kissed goodbye
I’m trying not to worry
But it’s way past five
I just can’t shake the feeling
There’s someone else tonight…

CHORUS
Between you and me
Is a love I didn’t see
Happened out of nowhere
Knocked me off my feet
Hard to catch my breath
Feeling weak in the knees
There’s a lot more than I thought could be
Between you and me

BRIDGE
So pack up all our used to be’s
Keep all of the memories…

SHORT CHORUS
Between you and me
Is a love I didn’t see
Happened out of nowhere
Knocked me off my feet
A lot more than I thought could be
Oh way more than I thought could be
Between you and me

Forged

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Rutted roads and backwood trails
Baked in clay and mud
Heartland harsh as beautiful
Toll is sweat and blood
Tough country for a tender hand
Life by a thousand cuts
Blistered, calloused, tested
In the flames of a flyover sun

CHORUS
And you’re tempered in that fire
Shaped by water, wind and earth
Hammered down until you find out
What your mettle’s really worth
It’s a trail blazed with persistence
That’s the mold where I was poured
Hard times pass, tough people last
You’re either broken or you’re forged

VERSE TWO
Strongest steel braves the hottest fire
Only way out is through
Every scar’s a lesson
Story in every bruise
Nothin gets polished without friction
Need the rough to make things smooth
Pain don’t last forever
Quittin’s the only way to lose

CHORUS

Take Me Out

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
It’s been a long hard week
I’m only three days in
I’ll be the first to say
I’m in need of a second wind
So baby whatcha say we
Get as far we can get
You always know the fix
When I’m stuck inside my head

CHORUS
So take me out, I
Need a little nowhere fresh air, get me
Outside
Down a no name street
where the moonlight speaks
To you and I
Yeah boy tonight
I don’t wanna go downtown
So take me out

VERSE TWO
We can find a spot
With only stars around
And turn the headlights off
Get lost in the midnight sound
Of a cricket singing symphony
We’ll be dancing to all night
If that’s good with you, it’s good with me
Yeah pick me up in five

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Out
Down a road
Only we know
Out where we’re free
Where the blue bells grow
Take me out of my mind
Out all night
Ohhhh
Take me out

CHORUS

Rock Bottom Girl

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
I’ve got a way of taking things
From pretty bad to worse
If a basket’s headed straight to hell
I’m gonna get there first
Doin the same thing over and over
Defines insanity
But I ain’t lookin’ for a different result
Cause I like the pull of gravity

CHORUS
I’m a rock bottom girl gonna give it a whirl
It’s crazy but in my defense
I know I should pause… but I won’t because
That would make too much sense
When I fall, I recall
What sends me to the top of my world
Woodford on ice, doubles are nice
I’m a whiskey on the rocks bottom girl

VERSE TWO
When I fall I fall all the way
But I end up landing smooth
Why the hell hit solid ground
When I can splash down…into 90 proof

CHORUS

SOLO

CHORUS

TAG
I’m a whiskey on the rocks
Whiskey on the rocks
I’m a whiskey on the rocks bottom girl

Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Nothing else ever hit me
Like that blue eyed contact high
Talkin in the check-out line you wrecked me with one smile
Started writing our history
Forever til the end
Pages of I love you’s
With a rose colored pen

CHORUS
I believed that what we had was foolproof
Funny all the ways that love can fool you
I was right and I was wrong
Cause even though you’re gone
I’m still hanging on
Like a fool
And you’re the proof

VERSE TWO
You’ll be back any minute
You can’t stay away from this town
Least that’s what I tell myself
When your memory’s hanging round
Yeah That’s how I spin it
When I wanna make that call
Just trying to make some sense
Of what don’t make no sense at all

The proof hits hard on a heart that just wants what it wants

All My Fault

Plays: 0
Backstory
This song is meant to be fun and farcical, while also being based upon a nearly universal human truth, that uh, the guy is always wrong (even when he's not) and has to apologize. Hopefully this makes anyone whose ever been in a serious relationship smile and it has a sweet and slightly sexy resolution!
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
My BABY caught me checkin’ out the waitress
Rubberneckin’ every time that girl walked by
She said the BUTTONS on her shirt were ‘bout to bust off
And her SKIRT was ridin’ way too high and tight
I got CAUGHT up in the picture she was paintin’
Then confused because we ate at home last night
She TOLD me it was just like me
To DO that to her in her dream
And when was I gonna ‘pologize?

CHORUS
Now her ARMS are folded ‘cross her chest
My back’s against the wall
Her eyes stare a hole right through me
Like they do when she's ticked off
I shiver when I hear her say
“We really need to talk”...
Don’t KNOW what I did wrong, but I got a feelin’
THIS is all my fault

VERSE TWO
She’s bringin UP how I forgot our anniversary
SIX months since the first time we went out
To that CLUB down by the factory
Sayin, “You KNOW it meant so much to me”
Naturally I tell her “Please calm down”

CHORUS
Now her ARMS are folded ‘cross her chest
My back’s against the wall
Her eyes stare a hole right through me
Like they do when she's ticked off
I shiver when I hear her say
“We really need to talk”...
Don’t KNOW what I did wrong, but I got a feelin’
THIS is all my fault

BRIDGE
ARE we bout to fight all night or aren’t we?
Not if ALL I have to do is say I’m sorry

NEW CHORUS
Now she's PRESSIN' up against my chest
My back’s against the wall
Her eyes STARE a hole right through me
Like they do when she's turned on
I shiver when I hear her say, “Help me take this off”
I like where this is going
I mean I really like were this is going
And this is all my fault

BOOTS FALL

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Well, my hand’s in the pocket of a red hot blue jean bandit
Watchin’ that band, warming up their Hank
She whispers in my ear all country candid
My little case of wound up is about to blow this place

PRE CHORUS
I’m good at makin’ bad decisions
And I love her… lack of inhibitions

CHORUS
Let the boots fall where they may
This might put me in the clay
The way she’s movin’, neon groovin
My mama and the preacher would disapprove and
Like it says in my Ol’ King James
Some angels fall from grace
Like a reckless, Texas two-step twist of fate
I’m gonna let the boots fall where they may

VERSE TWO
Yeah, her halo’s-a-fadin’, lord, the way she’s dancin’
Struttin’ that thang, son one hip at a time
Devil started laughin’ when he caught her askin’
Is it gonna be your place or mine?

Everything I Need is on This Farm

Plays: 0
Backstory
I grew up on a farm in Kentucky and that land and my experiences inform this song.
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
There’s a creek bed runnin’ the alfalfa field
Where my grandad taught me how to slack a reel
There’s a dusty grade 8 gravel road
Where my feet made music steppin on the stones

There’s a blue sky up above the old oak trees
Big enough to hold my biggest dreams
I hear God whisper in the country air
Every acre is an answered prayer

CHORUS
From the 12 gauge wire fence line
To the double cattle gate
All my favorite memories
Were raised up in this place
I could try to leave it
But I wouldn’t get too far
Oh, everything I need
Is on this farm

VERSE TWO
There’s a magic working in this old land
Turn a palm of blisters to a callused hand
And even -with a big old world to see
This is the only place I wanna be

CHORUS

ALTERED CHORUS
From the 12 gauge wire fence line
To the double cattle gate
This hallowed ground is filled with
Things I can’t replace
I could try to leave it
But I wouldn’t get too far
Oh, everything I need
Is on this farm

Saying jump in the car, girl tonight let me steer
Go find two arms and some new lies

Lyrics
VERSE ONE
I can still see him on that old John Deere
Smell of that hay filling that summer air
He was making more than our living
More than I could see

Cause On a Saturday morning when you’re 16
There’s a thousand places you’d rather be
Than out in the field, with your old man
Sweatin’ in the July heat

PRE-CHORUS
I didn’t wanna be baling hay
But he made me

CHORUS
He was chipping away every day
At the man he wanted me to be
I didn’t know it then but I know it now
And In my heart I believe
It was daddy’s tough and mama’s love
And John 3:16
That made me

Sleep

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Came here lost in that grind of a nine to five
At the bar with all my buddies lost track of time
Lost my filter ‘round round three of cold Busch Lights
Lost my stride was about to call it a night

But your “Boy, what’s your name”
Got me wide awake

My hand on your thigh lost on a red dirt road
Brooks and Dunn, “Lost and Found” on the radio
Lost my grip on the wheel when you slid close
Lost sight of anything but gettin’ you home

Girl, tonight, just turned into yesterday

CHORUS
And this bed looks better with you in it
Lost some moonlight girl but this is just the beginning
Got my eyes wide open, but I’m in a dream
Wanna see and feel everything ‘tween you and me
Lost my mind, lost in time, lost in what I need
Now I got nothing to lose
But sleep

BRIDGE
Lost all contro-o-o-ol
Ain’t tryin’ to count no sheep
Just wanna f-a-a-a-all
Between these sheets

Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Folgers in my cup, the world’s burnin’ up my phone
Gotta chase that dollar, somedays it’s just fool’s gold
Life - Comes at you pretty, dang quick
Time to log on out and get gone with the wind

PRE CHORUS
I was Born to Run, and born to be free
So if ya come lookin’ for me

CHORUS
I’m in slow rollin’ American Idle
Red dirt, white sand, free bird blue skies for miles and miles
Might chase an F5 blonde in Oklahoma
Get tangled up in grape vines in Sonoma
My soul’s in need of an Airstream revival
Gonna shift on down to American idle

VERSE TWO
Phillips in my truck, got my guitar in that ol case
Like a passport stamped with stickers from every state
Life - ain’t meant to be all work, no play
So I’m California dreamin’ ‘bout surfin’ those amber waves

CHORUS
I’m in slow rollin’ American Idle
Red dirt, white sand, free bird blue skies for miles and miles
Might strum a tune on a dock in Savannah
Lay low and get high in the Sierras
My soul’s in need of an Airstream revival
Gonna shift on down to American idle

BRIDGE
There’s a postcard on the dollar wall of this tiki bar
That says “Wish you were here”.

CHORUS
I’m in slow rollin’ American Idle
Red dirt, white sand, free bird blue skies for miles and miles
Let my inner child loose on the Outer Banks
Watch that burnin’ man go up in flames
My soul’s in need of an Airstream revival
Gonna shift on down to American idle
American idle

Mornin’ mist is burnin’ off
Critters in the leaves are stirrin’

He don’t know I’m aimin’ at him
He don’t know he’s in my sights
Got my finger on the trigger
And I’ve got him dead to rights
I could say it was an accident
No one would even care
Devil on my shoulder
Camo in the crosshairs

VERSE TWO
I don’t know when it started
But it got worse through the years
The proof was on his daughter
In the bruises, in her tears
There was talk of pressin’ charges
One day, she disappeared
Nobody knows what happened
‘Cept this piece of shit right here

CHORUS

BRIDGE
People say two wrongs don’t make a right
I’m wonderin’ if this time it might

CHORUS

Gravy and Green Beans

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
She had supper for 12 on the table by six
One or two’d say “I don’t like this”
Before she sat down or had a bite
Someone’d ask, “What r we having tomorrow night?”
There was always another baby
Sometimes I’d worry maybe
There wouldn’t be enough love to go around
But none of us ever went without

CHORUS
She made good gravy and green beans
Did 30 loads of laundry every week
She kept house and kept the peace
And she kept bein there for me
When I got a wound and the world is salt
When a good thing’s over and it’s all my fault
Or I just need to talk
She’s always the one I wanna call
Yeah she’s the one I wanna call

VERSE TWO
When another migraine sent me to bed
She put cold washcloths on my head
She’d say when a boy broke my heart in two
“You’re too good to want someone who don’t want you”
My teenage years were tough on us both
Still remember the taste of soap
But no matter what I did
She was slow to anger and quick to forgive

CHORUS
She made good gravy and green beans
Did 30 loads of laundry every week
She kept house and kept the peace
And she kept bein there for me
When I’m feeling 10 fee tall
Placed big bets and won ‘em all
Or I just need to talk
She’s always the one I wanna call
Yeah she’s the one I wanna call

BRIDGE
I’m older now and long since grown
Been decades since I’ve lived at home
When I’m on top of the world or at the end of my rope
I can count on her to pick up the phone

CHORUS
She made good gravy and green beans
Did 30 loads of laundry every week
She kept house and kept the peace
And she kept bein there for me
When I got a wound and the world is salt
When a good thing’s over and it’s all my fault
Or I just need to talk
She’s always the one
Yeah she’s the very first one
I wanna call

Halfway to Fall

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
I was chasin’ that need to unwind
Love was the last thing on my mind
But like a gypsy on the wind
Turned my head when she blew in
Closer I got prettier she was
Like a west coast dream kissed by the sun
Somehow my whole world changed
Even though I don’t even know her name

CHORUS
I’m Halfway to Fall
Halfway together
Halfway to gone
On my way to forever
Is it just the breeze through the trees in the summertime heat
Playing tricks on me

Days are getting long
Feelings getting strong
Getting’ buzzed on
Thinkin’ you could be the one
Is it just me diving deep into all we could be
Baby, it’s just June
But I’m halfway to Fall

VERSE TWO
I was looking for a post card place
Days roll by at a slower pace
(Now) I’m drownin’ in honey brown eyes
Straight to my head like sweet red wine
Didn’t come here lookin for this
He’s got a little something that I can’t resist
Hopin’ this high will last
Feelings sure coming on fast

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Seasons change and time flies by
Love each moment by your side

CHORUS

Hang on for the Ride

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
You need a jump for your truck
Need to bum a few bucks
Had a run a bad luck
And ya need a good cry

When you hit a brick wall
Even if it’s your fault
Girl you know who to call
And you know, so do I

CHORUS
Somedays half the battle
Is getting out of bed
And into the saddle
Ya need to know somebody’s on your side
There’s fair weathers, when the winds change
Only half-in out on the range and
The hell or highwaters who do or die
And this songs’, for the ones
Who hang on
For the ride

VERSE TWO
It’s a bond you can’t fake
Ain’t like a dish, it won’t break
Lotta give, lotta take
Ain’t a lot of that around these days

CHORUS

BRIDGE
For the ride, when you tried but it didn’t work
And your critics all say you’ll stay down in the dirt
But I know you, you’ll get back on that horse again
My friend

CHORUS

JUST LIKE YOU - Bluegrass Version

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
He ran out in his cowboy boots
Met me on the porch with plastic tools
And said Dad, can I work with you today

Half-way through that second post
I hit my thumb and almost cursed
My little boy said it anyway

I sat him down to have a man to man
He reached out with his little hand
He smiled and spoke the cold hard truth

I heard you dad when you got hurt, and
I know you usually say that word
So I did too. I wanna be just like you

CHORUS
And God I pray
When he makes those same mistakes
That I did yesterday
I remember all your mercy and grace
When I mess up and I forget
You show me a picture of myself
And remind me that I’m forgiven too
Lord, ain’t that just like you

VERSE TWO
Those teenage years can sure hit hard
He’s crossing lines and wrecking cars
Caught between a young boy and a man

He’s hitting every nerve I've got
These days all we do is fight
He’s doing things I don't understand

His mama keeps reminding me
What we sow is what we reap
And I know where he gets it too

So when my patience has been tested
Help me live so I don't regret it
Lord I wanna be just like you

CHORUS
And God I pray
When he makes those same mistakes
That I did yesterday
I remember all your mercy and grace

And when I mess up and I forget
You show me a picture of myself
And remind me that I’m forgiven too
Lord, ain’t that just like you
You remind me I’m forgiven too
Lord, ain’t that just like you
Just like you
I wanna be just like you

KENTUCKY SOUNDS - Female Bluegrass version

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Last night I dreamed
I dreamed without pictures
A breath of wind
Made the Bluegrass whisper
The locust posts and
The fence wire hummed
And the handle cranked
On the old GEM pump

CHORUS
Kentucky sounds
Feelings heard out loud
Like a lost calf’s cries
Til its mother’s found
I been livin hard in crowded towns
Songless streets have worn me down
But I hear the Meadowlark singing now
Calling me back with those Kentucky sounds

VERSE TWO
Fiddle strings and gospel hearts
Creaking old screen door
Ma singin’ in the kitchen
Dad’s boots steps on the porch
Memories I can’t outrun
Ringing in my head
Regretting what I left behind
And the goodbyes I said

MISSING KENTUCKY TONIGHT - Female Bluegrass Version

Plays: 1
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Last night I had a dream
About those redbirds singing
And lonesome winds blowing through the pines
That song carries on the breeze
It still sounds like home to me
Echoes of the life that I left behind

CHORUS
And tonight, I’m missing Kentucky
Rolling hills rolling through my mind
And every road I roam, every single song I write
Leads me back to the peace I’m trying to find
Yeah, I’m missing Kentucky tonight

VERSE TWO
This life it seems to me
Is harder than I thought it’d be
City lights keep drowning out the stars
And it never seems to sleep
Busy people, crowded streets
But it can’t fill up the empty in my heart

CHORUS

SOLO

VERSE THREE
I remember younger days
When I just couldn't wait
To spread my wings, fly out of that town
But Lord how things can change
That road that carried me away
Can take me back, now I’m Kentucky bound

CHORUS
And tonight I’m missing Kentucky
Rolling hills rolling through my mind
And every road I roam, every single song I write
Leads me back to the peace I’m trying to find
Makes me wonder why I ever said goodbye
Yeah, I’m missing Kentucky tonight

WHEN YOU KNOW YOU KNOW

Plays: 0
Lyrics
FIRST VERSE
I didn’t see him turn water into wine
I wasn’t there when he brought sight to the blind
Didn’t watch him calm the sea or walk on water
Didn’t hear him in his final moments when he called out to his Father

CHORUS
But when you know you know
When you feel it in your bones
When you’ve been lost and it’s a prayer that brings you home
When you take a breath open your eyes
When you’re alone but feel him by your side
It’s a truth you can’t deny
Once it’s written on your soul
When you know you know

SECOND VERSE
I felt the way he healed my heart when it was breaking
He knows my pain and shame but still says that I’m worth saving
So I send all the praise and all the glory straight to him
Cuz I believe without a doubt he’ll save me time and time again

CHORUS
When you know you know
When you feel it in your bones
When you’ve been lost and it’s a prayer that brings you home
When you take a breath open your eyes
When you’re alone but feel him by your side
It’s a truth you can’t deny
Once it’s written on your soul
When you know you know

BREAKDOWN CHORUS
When you take a breath open your eyes
When you’re alone but feel him by your side

WHEN IT RAINS IN WEST VIRGINIA - Bluegrass Version

Plays: 0
Lyrics
VERSE ONE
Can’t forget the day, I first saw you
Azaleas just started to bloom
Drove that highway ridge line
Caught an Appalachian high
You were lookin’ at the view
I was watching you

PRE CHORUS
I guess things were just different then
I go back there again and again

CHORUS
When it rains in West Virginia
Tears roll down like a river
Washin’ up every memory of you
Cuts deeper than the gorge does
But I guess it could be worse cause
At Least there was an us once
Can’t help but think about ya
When it rains in West Virginia
When it rains in West Virginia

VERSE TWO
You went wheels up in Wheeling
Now I can’t shake the feeling
You were chasing your concrete dreams
Way past where backroads reach

CHORUS
When it rains in West Virginia
Tears roll down like a river
Washin’ up every memory of you
Cuts deeper than the gorge does
But I guess it could be worse cause
At Least there was an us once
Can’t help but think about ya
When it rains in West Virginia
When it rains in West Virginia

BRIDGE
It’s over but it ain’t the end
Sometimes I still hear your voice on the wind

CHORUS
When it rains in West Virginia
Tears roll down like a river
Washin’ up every memory of you
Cuts deeper than the gorge does
But I guess it could be worse cause
At Least there was an us once
Can’t help but think about ya
When it rains in West Virginia
When it rains in West Virginia
It always rains in West Virginia
When it rains in West Virginia
