DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO

Plays: 26
Backstory
Written as an anthem song for all those who do what you gotta do whether it be a farmer or a single mother.
Lyrics
Is there anyone listnin’ who hadn't thought about quittin’
And runnin’ away
Is there anyone here who hadn’t feared
What’s comin’ next day
Is there anyone who hadn’t felt like a fool
And asked yourself what am I gonna do

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelin’s out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
Do what you gotta do

A single mom in the city or a farm in Mississippi
Some roads run uphill
You make your own breaks and your own mistakes
Doin’ what you feel
After more than a few walls ran into
You tell yourself to hell with the rules

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelin’s out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
Do what you gotta do

Dead tired you wanna stop, don’t wanna go another round
But without a second thought, you drop that plow back in the ground

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelin’s out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
For your family, faith and freedom
Make no excuse
Do what you gotta do
Do what you gotta do

Kindness And Respect

Plays: 4
Backstory
A very relatable song for anyone who grew up around hard working men and women. Predominantly I was thinking about my grandpa when writing this song, and since I love the movie "Forest Gump" I had to throw a bit of that into it as well.
Lyrics
I called him Lieutenant Dan
Purple Heart from Vietnam
Agent orange took his left arm
Always first on his feet
Singin’ “O say can you see”
His right hand pressed to his heart

And he’d say - Life is learned with blood and sweat
Kindness is earned just like respect
Grandpa’s quartet was blood, sweat kindness and respect

Loved to sing Amazin’ Grace
Ev’ry mornin’ at daybreak
From his church, his tractor seat
Nine o’clock was his bedtime
He’d tell grandma we’re all fine
Right before he’d fall asleep

Life is learned with blood and sweat
Kindness is earned just like respect
Grandpa’s quartet was blood, sweat kindness and respect

I won’t forget all he taught me
But laugh how he sang so off key

Life is learned with blood and sweat
Kindness is earned just like respect
Grandpa’s quartet he sang till the Lord said rest
With blood, sweat, kindness and respect
Blood, sweat, kindness and respect

My Best Is Yet To Be

Plays: 14
Backstory
This driving anthemic country song was written in the style of Jason Aldean.
Lyrics
Wakin’ up to the loud sound of breathin’
In a shelter full of strangers sleepin’
Twisted up with her mama and sister
Wonderin’ if anybody would miss her
Too young to understand just what they’re doin’ here
She covers up her head to make it disappear

Some days you gotta scream
I can’t take this anymore
Some days you gotta reach
Deeper than you have before
Don’t hold back, don’t concede, when the Devil laughs say I believe
My best is yet to be

Flag wavin’ in a Kansas sky breezy
Can make freedom look pretty damn easy
Somewhere soldiers ‘round a mess hall table
Are toastin' friends now flyin' with angels
Too young to understand just what they’re doin’ here
They raise another glass to make it disappear

Some days you gotta scream
I can’t take this anymore
Some days you gotta reach
Deeper than you have before
Don’t hold back, don’t concede, when the Devil laughs say I believe
My best is yet to be

Instrument Break

Some days you gotta scream
I can’t take this anymore
Some days you gotta reach
Deeper than you have before
Don’t hold back, don’t concede, when the Devil laughs say I believe
My best is yet to be
My best is yet to be
My best is yet to be

Worth Watching

Plays: 6
Backstory
I wrote this heart warming mid tempo story song in the style of Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Mo Pitney, Luke Combs, etc.
Lyrics
It was evenin’ front porch listnin’
To my elders in my youth
And the sound of rain drops drippin’
Off a rusty old tin roof
It was the first wish on the first star
As the summer sun was droppin’
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was the minute that it hit me
That your grandma was the one
Just to say the rest was his’try
Don’t near cover all we done
It was the arguments and make ups
All our wins and all our losses
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was a gravel road to a fishin’ hole
With kids loaded in the back
It was the way I sweat praying she’d say yes
It don’t get no better than that
I pray when I reach those gates
The Lord sees what I do often
Little pieces of a life worth watchin'

That was the last time I was with him
We spent hours on that porch
It was a special summer evenin'
I’m forever thankful for
I made a wish upon the first star
As the summer sun was droppin’
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was a gravel road to a fishin’ hole
With kids loaded in the back
It was the way I sweat praying she’d say yes
It don’t get no better than that
I pray when I reach those gates
The Lord sees what I do often
Little pieces of a life worth watchin'

I pray when I reach those gates
The Lord sees what I do often
Little pieces of a life worth watchin'

CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR

Plays: 10
Backstory
Written about how we often relive feelings we experienced at different mileposts in our lives. Written in the style of Strait, Brooks, etc.
Lyrics
Hands at two and ten I tightly grip the steering wheel
Holdin' an old friend and still remembrin' how it feels
Freedom of the road, sixteen years old
Just like that, I go back

Cause it’s a part of me, it’s the heart of me
Shadows in my rear view
Mem’ries in the mirror are closer than they appear

Every time I swear I hear that old George Strait tune
I’m back in her arms singing along with Baby Blue
Learnin’ by mistakes, backroads, driveways
Just like that, I go back

Cause it’s a part of me, it’s the heart of me
Shadows in my rear view
Mem’ries in the mirror are closer than they appear

First kiss - fresh starts - lost friends - broke hearts

It’s a part of me, it’s the heart of me
Shadows in my rear view
Mem’ries in the mirror are closer - so much closer - than they appear

Through The Noise

Plays: 2
Backstory
Our consciousness is constantly bombarded in today's fast paced life, and sometimes it's hard to hear our own thoughts "through the noise".
Lyrics
Jesus I’m a newbie
I don’t know how to pray
Like that Jimmy Stewart movie
I need an angel sent my way

You make it pretty clear
You’ve got ten firm rules
Don’t matter if my rear
Sits on a pew or bar stool

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out some sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

My mom would be encouraged
That I’m finally talking to you
Cause You know how much she worries
I guess the truth is I do too

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out some sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok my head’s a blur
In a world that never disconnects the only thing that did was her

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out some sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

Roll Me Out the Back Door Mama

Plays: 2
Backstory
I spent a lot of time on my grandparents farm in Louisiana growing up, and I loved listening to Skynard, Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, etc.
Lyrics
ROLL ME OUT THE BACK DOOR MAMA
® 2024 Marvin Adcock

Born in Louisiana in the heart of New Orleans.
Raised up on the river by a dark eyed cajun queen.
I never used to have no fun, never used to get turned on.
Till I felt that rock and roll those southern boys put in my soul

I'd wait until the sun goes down.
Grab my boots and hit the town, and get blown away.

Roll me out the backdoor mama.
Don't put salt on my tail.
Roll me out the back door mama.
Don't put salt on my tail.
Life is made to scream and holler.
Tonight your son's gonna wail.

Quit my job and sold my home, and left for Nashville all alone.
Stuffed my cloths inside a pack, and all I owned was on my back.
Met a man down on his luck, bought his run down pick up truck.
Wrote this song along the way, and dreamed about that Opry stage.

Roll me out the backdoor mama.
Don't put salt on my tail.
Roll me out the back door mama.
Don't put salt on my tail.
Life is made to scream and holler.
Tonight your son's gonna wail.

THE PRAYER

Plays: 0
Lyrics
A lovin’ kiss in the mornin’
Like a thousand times before
Their whole world revolved around just the two of them
I love you she’d whisper
As he was walkin’ out the door
Love shows in little moments she'd say to him

Sometimes she'd call him
Knowin’ he’d be busy
Just to say I miss you, when you comin’ home
After years of tryin’
In happy tears one Christmas Eve
She said we’re gonna have a baby of our own

She was in her second month
When the doctors found the cancer
Said we caught it soon enough
But we’re gonna need an answer
Cause the treatment it will take
Could harm the embryo
She didn’t even hesitate
She just said no

That baby girl became my mama
A story grandpa's told me
At least a dozen times when I sit with him
And Lord since we’re talkin’
My grandma's still doin’ fine
I wanna thank you for that blessin’ amen

She was in her second month
When the doctors found the cancer
Said we caught it soon enough
But we’re gonna need an answer
Cause the treatment it will take
Could harm the embryo
She didn’t even hesitate
She just said no

She didn’t even hesitate
She just said no

SUNSHINE WOMAN

Plays: 10
Backstory
Demoed at Brent Rader Productions in Nashville.
Lyrics
Sunshine woman the morning will see you rise
You can make the world seem so much brighter and free
Sunshine woman when I look into your eyes
Burns away the blues and sorrow inside of me

I’m all alone inside myself
And when I cry no one notices
The pain and all the tears
It’s so plain I need you here
Sunshine woman
Oh sunshine girl

Sunshine woman something in the way you smile
Reaches out inside my mind and stops the rain
Sunshine woman won’t you sit with me awhile
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name

I’m all alone inside myself
And when I cry no one notices
The pain and all the tears
It’s so plain I need you here
Sunshine woman
Oh sunshine girl
Oh sunshine girl

Sunshine woman something in the way you smile
Reaches out inside my mind and stops the rain
Sunshine woman won’t you sit with me awhile
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name

Choices Of the Heart

Plays: 0
Backstory
Written in the style of Tom Petty, The Eagles, etc.
Lyrics
We didn’t choose to fall in love - it kinda just sucked us in
A decision that simply was - made without questionin’
It wasn’t a roll of the dice - we knew right from the start
Some things you don’t even think twice - they’re choices of the heart

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

The first time I laid eyes on you - my heart told my mind and soul
Somethin’ they both already knew - this time I’m takin’ control
Typically you’d shrug me off - with a stinging remark
Just like me you were already lost - to choices of the heart

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

We spent that night - just talkin’ and laughin’
It felt so right - just lettin’ love happen

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart
Choices of the heart
Choices of the heart

Wide Open Country

Plays: 0
Backstory
I lived the years in a large city (Los Angeles), which although was exciting at the time, only solidified why I love living in the country.
Lyrics
Sittin’ by my window, watchin’ raindrops hit the ground
Like starin’ in the face of a woman grievin’
Takes me back to long ago, before we finally settled down
You couldn’t believe that I was leavin’

Give me the wide open country
The sound of children’s laughter in the air
With grass a growin’ high, and tree tops reachin’ to the sky
And country music playin’ everywhere

You grew up metropolis, I was rocky mountain air
I couldn’t ask you to leave, but I couldn’t stay
But loneliness surrounded us, I turned and you were there
You spoke the words you’d always heard me say

Give me the wide open country
The sound of children’s laughter in the air
With grass a growin’ high, and tree tops reachin’ to the sky
And country music playin’ everywhere

Time will burn to ashes, like wood upon a fire
We’ll grow old me lovin’ you, you lovin’ me
And if the good Lord blesses, us with our desire
He’ll grow a few branches on our family tree

Give me the wide open country
The sound of children’s laughter in the air
With grass a growin’ high, and tree tops reachin’ to the sky
And country music playin’ everywhere

Give me the wide open country
The sound of children’s laughter in the air
With grass a growin’ high, and tree tops reachin’ to the sky
And country music playin’ everywhere

What I Am

Plays: 0
Backstory
After working on it the entire first week of 2025, I finally finished up this song that I started writing years ago when I was stationed in California (hence the picture which was taken at San Pedro). I guess I had to reach this stage in my life to find the right lyrics.
Lyrics
Somedays I wonder why life’s so fast
Wish I could ask
To slow it down a bit
‘Bout every day I see a change
New line on my face
Old times I forget

What I know is what I am
What I need is what I am
What I don't show is what I am
What I bleed is what I am

Somedays I wonder who’s staring back
Behind that glass
Of my bathroom mirror
Like it or not it’s who I am
Some days a stranger
Some days familiar

What I know is what I am
What I need is what I am
What I don't show is what I am
Yeah what you see is what I am

(guitar break)

What I know is what I am
What I believe is what I am
What I don't show is what I am
So what you see is what I am
Yeah what you see is what I am

1-800-GOODBYE

Plays: 2
Backstory
Written about a woman finding the courage to fly away from a bad relationship.
Lyrics
Oh what a shame to see the way he treated her
She nearly lost her mind tryin’ to keep her faith
She got tired of fearin’ him, and oh so tired of givin’ in
And everyday she stayed she knew was a mistake

So she packed light for a one-way ride on a Greyhound
Looked around the house and sighed one last time
There wasn't much left to say, she knew he wouldn’t listen anyway
So she left a message by the phone with just one line

She broke the spell that she’d been under
Found her wings and she was gonna fly
The note said I’ve got your number and underlined here’s mine
You can reach me at 1-800-Goodbye

He was primed to fight that night when he hit the doorway
Smelled of motel love and whiskey on his breath
Yelled her name and slammed the door, but he can’t hurt her anymore
She was miles away when he read the note she’d left

She broke the spell that she’d been under
Found her wings and she was gonna fly
The note said I’ve got your number and underlined here’s mine
You can reach me at 1-800-Goodbye

She had no where to go, but off that dead-end road
She was lookin’ for a place where she could heal...
The scars on her heart, cause he’d gone too far
She prayed he’d change but she knew he never will

She broke the spell that she’d been under
Found her wings and she was gonna fly
The note said I’ve got your number and underlined here’s mine
You can reach me at 1-800-Goodbye
The note said I’ve got your number and underlined here’s mine
You can reach me at 1-800-Goodbye

A PATIENT MAN (MIX)

Plays: 1
Backstory
This song was written about the hectic fast pace that is our daily lives, and how it takes coming home at the end of the day to finally slow down, in a good way!
Lyrics
I finish everything I start
Racin' time and on the run
From early mornin’ until dark
To get it done

I get impatient waitin’ for
My work day to finally end
To hurry back through that front door
To you again

I’ve never been a patient man
Burnin’ at both ends fast as I can
But here with you when the lights are low
All I wanna do is take it slow
So every kiss you know you’re with
A patient man

I’ve got a hemi in my truck
DSL, my cell’s 4G
But even they ain’t fast enough
Some days for me

I’ve never been a patient man
Burnin’ at both ends fast as I can
But here with you when the lights are low
All I wanna do is take it slow
So every kiss you know you’re with
A patient

All my problems melt away
My high strung world comes unwound
Every time you light that flame
Girl I slow down

I’ve never been a patient man
Burnin’ at both ends fast as I can
But here with you when the lights are low
All I wanna do is take it slow
So every kiss you know you’re with
Every everlasting kiss you know you’re with
Yeah every kiss you’re gonna know you’re with
A patient man
A patient man

Ahead Of Us

Plays: 0
Lyric only
Backstory
A wedding song that I wrote for my son's wedding when I was asked to play at the ceremony. Written from the angle that there is a great past awaiting them.
Lyrics
He was dressed in black - she was dressed in white
Knowing they’d look back - at this day all their life
Nervously she said again - the vow that she’d rehearsed
But when the preacher looked at him - he surprised her with these words

My love is unconditional
One lifetime’s not enough
But I promise you as we go through
There’s a great past ahead of us

Time will give them roots - love will give them wings
It all begins with two - hearts exchanging rings
As man and wife they face the crowd - seated in the church
Hand in hand they walk the aisle - that’s when she repeats his words

My love is unconditional
One lifetime’s not enough
But I promise you as we go through
There’s a great past ahead of us

Gratefully they celebrate - with family and friends
And anxiously anticipate - what lies ahead of them

When love is unconditional
One lifetime’s not enough
But I promise you as we go through
There’s a great past ahead of us
Yes I promise you as we go through
There’s a great past ahead of us

He was dressed in black
She was dressed in white

BETTER MEMORIES

Plays: 0
Backstory
I wrote this song reflecting memories of my youth and time spent on my grandparent's farm in Louisiana. Written in the style of a Merle Haggard or Alabama song. This song was used in a CBS network series episode, and an AMC network series episode.
Lyrics
We were skinny towhead kids in Louisiana
Livin’ not to far from the Arkansas line
Barefoot walkin’ hot blacktop with a quarter for a soda
From the farm to town in the summertime

Sunday dinner always centered around the family
In the shotgun house out in the red dirt pines
Grandma scoldin’ grandpa for teasin’ us and bein’ ornery
It’s like a Kodak moment in my mind

The older I get, the more it sinks in
I wouldn’t be who I am if not for where I’ve been
Every stage of every age rollin’ down life’s road
I swear there’ll never be better memories than those

I remember tiny fingers holdin’ tight
From a little hand graspin’ on to mine
It was like the Lord had pulled a chord turnin’ on the light
Puttin’ my priorities in line

The older I get, the more it sinks in
I wouldn’t be who I am if not for where I’ve been
Every stage of every age rollin’ down life’s road
I swear there’ll never be better memories than those

Sometimes I think I’d like to have those moments back
But I wouldn’t trade those days for where I’m at

Cause the older I get, the more it sinks in
I wouldn’t be who I am if not for where I’ve been
Every stage of every age rollin’ down life’s road
I swear there’ll never be better memories than those...Lord knows
How could there every be better memories than those

Blame It On the 60s

Plays: 0
Backstory
Written from slices of my youth growing up and playing in pop bands thanks to the influence of The Beatles.
Lyrics
I was raised in the heart of America
A boy with dreams where nothin’ ever seems to change
And bein’ cool is somethin’ that I never was
But once I learned to play these strings I never was the same

Blame it on the 60’s
When John and Paul were kings
What started out in the 50’s
Made us feel we could do anything
It filled our soul with rock and roll
And our head with dreams

Every year every tour from every dressing room
I can hear the crowd while waitin’ for the show to start
In the arena screamin’ for them old familiar tunes
It don’t matter what we play cause they know every song by heart

Blame it on the 60’s
When John and Paul were kings
What started out in the 50’s
Made us feel we could do anything
It filled our soul with rock and roll
And our head with dreams

I’m a born country boy but my taste ain’t changed
I still like my Haggard mixed with Jagger and Jones
And lookin’ back I know exactly where to place the blame
For my love for this music planted in my soul

Blame it on the 60’s
When John and Paul were kings
What started out in the 50’s
Made us feel we could do anything
It filled our soul with rock and roll
And our head with dreams

There are places I’ll remember.....

Bottom Of A Glass

Plays: 0
Backstory
Uplifting song written for those fighting hard to overcome the addiction to alcohol.
Lyrics
He said I gotta twist free from this corkscrew life I’m livin’ in
Pour the pain out of the bottle life’s become
But the whiskey’s always temptin’ me to givin’ in
To one more drink to numb the damage that it’s done

Even when I’m not drinkin’ I’m still thinkin’ ‘bout the booze
It’s a roller coaster spinnin’ me every way but loose
Never knowin’ when it’s gonna stop or when I’m gonna crash
Cause you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass

He said I haven’t kissed my kids goodnight in Lord knows how long
To ashamed they’ll smell the whiskey on my breath
I’ve been told that gettin’ sober is a life long marathon
But I ain’t even got the strength to take twelve steps

Even when I’m not drinkin’ I’m still thinkin’ ‘bout the booze
It’s a roller coaster spinnin’ me every way but loose
Never knowin’ when it’s gonna stop or when I’m gonna crash
Cause you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass

He said it’s my first time to admit I’m powerless
I’m here tonight so I can whip my cowardice

Cause even when I’m not drinkin’ I’m still thinkin’ ‘bout the booze
It’s a roller coaster spinnin’ me every way but loose
Never knowin’ when it’s gonna stop or when I’m gonna crash
Cause you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass

No you never see the truth until it’s starin’ back at you
From the bottom of a glass

Broken Glass

Plays: 0
Backstory
Heartwarming yet sorrowful song written after witnessing the pain suffered by a family as they lost their husband and father to alzheimer's.
Lyrics
They’ve shared a life he can’t remember
They’ve shared a life she can’t forget
She’s the stranger in the mirror
Who combs his hair and helps him dress

They started young raisin’ a family
Seldom took time for themselves
Had a closeness most can only dream
Through rich or poor, sickness and health

Before his memory of their history
Was shattered like a mirror into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

He used to joke “I don’t remember squat”
She’d just say “You work too hard”
Now lost among his scattered thoughts
He still holds her in his arms

Before his memory of their history
Was shattered like a mirror into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

He’ll always be - the husband that she loves
She’ll always see - the father that he was

Before his memory of their history
Was shattered like a mirror into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

Cross Your Heart (contemporary mix)

Plays: 0
Backstory
Written about a young cowboy chasing rodeo, but wondering if he is chasing the wrong thing. This is the contemporary mix for this song.
Lyrics
He’s felt the chill of city winds
And heat from desert roads
Thirty-one and fence rail thin
Still chasin’ rodeos
Each call home his mama scolds him
I never know where you are
I pray you’re OK and the right girl someday
Will cross your heart

He loves to feel that horse below
And hear the roar of a crowd
With every win he thanks his heros
To some he’s one now
An old cowboy told him once in Reno
Look at me and get smart
Don’t shut the gate on the trail love might take
To cross your heart

He’d started blamin’ the way he lives
For the lonesome achin’ in his arms
Cause lately he’s been wonderin’
Could someone ever cross his heart

She asked if he’d like one more cup
Before they closed for the night
Her sweet voice made him slowly look up
Into an angel’s eyes
Tailgate livin’ from an old Ford truck
Had started losin’ charm
You never know when things you can’t control
Will cross your heart

You never know when things you can’t control
Will cross your heart

Dance With Me

Plays: 2
Backstory
Steamy sexy song written about what a dance can lead to.
Lyrics
There’s a song playin’ on late night radio
That’s takin’ me back - so long ago
To places we’ve been - and things we’ve done
Wishin’ we could live ‘em over one by one

Come dance with me baby cheek to cheek
Pressed up against me like you used to be
I wanna feel you breathe, and the heat of your skin
See if it leads to what it did back then
Come dance with me

Girl together we’re sharin’ a lifetime of firsts
A whole lotta love and a little bitta hurt
The beat of that drum, and the one in my chest
Are poundin’ out emotions only you can address

Come dance with me baby cheek to cheek
Pressed up against me like you used to be
I wanna feel you breathe, and the heat of your skin
See if it leads to what it did back then
Come dance with me

We’ll lock the door, turn out the light
Turn the radio, and us up on high

Come dance with me baby cheek to cheek
Pressed up against me like you used to be
I wanna feel you breathe, and the heat of your skin
See if it leads to what it did back then
Come dance with me
Girl dance with me

DAYS OF THUNDER

Plays: 0
Backstory
An uptempo song written about how our weekly work routine can cause us to settle into complacency, so we live for the weekends.
Lyrics
These are the days of thunder ?
We’re gonna make time stand still??

A quarter after midnight ?
And I’m watchin’ the wall ?
Sometimes I feel so uptight
?I just can’t sleep at all??
Every day doin’ the same old thang we’re losin’ time
?The weekend comes we gotta have some fun and rewind??

These are the days of thunder ?
We’re gonna make - time stand still ?
We gotta feel the hunger ?
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill

??I feel the rope a tightnin’ ?
Chokin off our air ?
We need to grab some lightnin’
?Friday’s almost here??
Caught in a web we need to cut this thread we’re hangin’ by ?
Where is it said you have to be half dead to survive??

These are the days of thunder
? We’re gonna make - time stand still ?
We gotta feel the hunger ?
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill??

These are the days of thunder ?
We’re gonna make - time stand still
? We gotta feel the hunger ?
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill??

These are the days of thunder ?
We’re gonna make - time stand still ?
We gotta feel the hunger ?
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill??

These are the days of thunder

DON'T FEEL THE RAIN

Plays: 0
Backstory
Written about unconditional love of family, faith and freedom.
Lyrics
She’s standin’ in the rain, but she don’t care
Because her heart’s another place
She’s watchin’ as her son gets on that bus
She won’t leave till she knows he’s safe

Unless you live to feel it, words just won’t explain
Unselfish love, she don’t feel the rain

He’s standin’ on a corner and it’s pourin’
His sign held high for all to see
It says I’m lookin’ for a job cause the one I lost
Wasn’t much but fed my family

Unless you live to feel it, words just won’t explain
Unselfish love, he don’t feel the rain

Rain falls in
Life and then
Love heals pain
And shields the rain

He takes His final breath and bows His head
His work on earth is finally done
With the last beat of his heart the sky grows dark
Another mother holds her son

Unless you live to feel it, words just won’t explain
Unselfish love, they don’t feel the rain

Once you live to feel it, life won’t be the same
With unselfish love, you don’t feel the rain
You don’t feel the rain

Everybody's Wrong

Plays: 0
Backstory
Written about heartbreak, and the appearance of moving on even when we are still stuck.
Lyrics
I didn't show it the day you left, somethin’ to do with pride
Said I know it's for the best and held the hurt inside
Everybody thinks I'm carryin' on
But everything that keeps me going is gone

Everybody says I'm standin' tall, an oak that won't break down
Everybody says I'll never fall but everybody's not always around
Everybody says they're amazed to see how quickly I moved on
Everybody thinks you're a memory but everybody's wrong

Once in a while someone will ask, and I say I'm doing fine
Put on a smile and throw a laugh, no one ever sees me cryin'
No one knows when I'm alone
How I'm not really made of stone

Everybody says I'm standin' tall, an oak that won't break down
Everybody says I'll never fall but everybody's not always around
Everybody says they're amazed to see how quickly I moved on
Everybody thinks you're a memory but everybody's wrong

Everybody thinks I've turned the page on you
Everybody it seems
Everybody thinks I've learned to push through
Everybody but me

Everybody says I'm standin' tall, an oak that won't break down
Everybody says I'll never fall but everybody's not always around
Everybody says they're amazed to see how quickly I moved on
Everybody thinks you're a memory but everybody's wrong

Oh everybody thinks you're a memory
But everybody's wrong

GOD'S LITTLE HALF ACRE (ROCK MIX)

Plays: 0
Backstory
I wrote this song after reading a newspaper story about a black man named Grant Cushinberry who lived in Topeka, Kansas and had a second hand store. He spent his entire life in the service of others, and I felt like he needed to be remembered. The lyrics are factual and taken from his life. This is the rock mix of the song done in the style of Shawn Mullins.
Lyrics
At the Eventide Convalescent Center - every third Saturday
Dad and I would go eat dinner - with aunt Opal who was eighty-eight
I was pickin’ at my food when an old black man - sat down at the table by me
He looked me in the eye and said, “How do you do, - my name’s Cushinberry.”

Said I was born in an all black town in Kansas - called Nickodemus
In World War II was an Army medic - then settled in Topeka
I was fortunate to have a good momma and dad - who taught me all about God’s grace
The same way son that yours have - or you wouldn’t be here today

You can always find someone that’s got it worse - help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth - to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody - you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spends just payin’ rent - for God’s little half acre

He said for years I gave away food and cloths – had a Christian Mission store
Had a sign that read “for the needy, not the greedy” - that hung above the door
I like to think I gave hope and dreams - to folks who didn’t have any
But son I saw things that just shouldn’t be - here in the land of plenty

You can always find someone that’s got it worse - help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth - to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody - you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spends just payin’ rent - for God’s little half acre

Three weeks passed, I went back, they told me he had died
Mumblin’ somethin’ about a little piece of ground – waitin’ on the other side

You can always find someone that’s got it worse - help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth - to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody - you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spends just payin’ rent - to this day I think of him
Visitin’ with all his friends - on God’s little half acre

Going Going Gone

Plays: 1
Backstory
I wrote this one after getting the idea for the hook from the auctioneer closing call for bids; going once, going twice, sold! It struck me that could also apply to some relationships.
Lyrics
Through bitter tears she prayed, “Please help me Lord”
To face the truth and listen to my heart
She tried leaving him not once, but twice before
But never found the strength to get this far

There was nothing said – there was no goodbye
Just a look to say what they had known so long
She tried goin' once, she tried goin' twice
But this time she was goin' goin' gone

Twice before she let old feelings for him
Keep her on that train running out of track
Till she couldn’t bare to wake up one more morning
To another day of living in the past

There was nothing said – there was no goodbye
Just a look to say what they had known so long
She tried goin' once, she tried goin' twice
But this time she was goin' goin' gone

Neither one of them was lookin’ for a reason
Why she should stay or where to lay the blame
They just couldn’t make hearts feel what they weren’t feelin’
They just couldn’t make love burn where there’s no flame

There was nothing said – there was no goodbye
Just a look to say what they had known so long
She tried goin' once, she tried goin' twice
But this time she was goin'
This time she was goin'
This time she was goin' goin' gone

Granddad's Birthday

Plays: 0
Backstory
I wrote this heart-tugging song after getting the idea from an Ann Lander's column that I read about an elderly man talking about how his children seldom visited him.
Lyrics
Today was granddad’s birthday - he knew they’d be there
So he got up early - put on his best, combed his hair
Skipped his daily walk to the cafe - to have coffee with the boys
Cause ever since grandma passed away - his only other joy’s
When they come

He moved his porch chair to the sidewalk - so he could better see the street
He always naps at one o’clock - but today he didn’t sleep
He spent the afternoon by the telephone - so he could answer when they called
To let ‘em know he’s always home - any time’ll work at all
When they come

He’s got three grown kids and two of them - live within ten miles
But none of them have visited - him in quite awhile
Nothin’ beats the feelin’ he gets - holdin’ a grand child
Today was his birthday - he couldn’t wait for them to come

He washed up his supper dishes - but left the cake uncut
So he could have dessert with - them when they showed up
He waited on the front porch - ‘til it got to dark to see
And left a note on the front door - be sure to wake me
When you come

He’s got three grown kids and two of them - live within ten miles
But none of them have visited - him in quite awhile
Nothin’ beats the feelin’ he gets - holdin’ a grand child
Today was his birthday - he couldn’t wait for them to come

He said “Hon they’ve all got busy lives
To young to know how fast time flies”
As he kissed the picture of his bride goodnight

He’s got three grown kids and two of them - live within ten miles
But none of them have visited - him in quite awhile
Nothin’ beats the feelin’ he gets - holdin’ a grand child
Today was his birthday - he couldn’t wait for them to come

Today was granddad’s birthday

Hard To Hurt

Plays: 0
Backstory
I wrote this heart warming song after getting the idea for the hook of how it's hard to hurt a heart that's already broke. The bridge in this song says it all.
Lyrics
She sat alone and faced an empty chair
And raised a toast to the empty air
Shootin’ down men’s pride - with every come on line

She was drinkin’ straight Beam in a glass
And I was thinkin’ I’ve been where you’re at
The later I watched - the braver I got

So in my most sincere tone - I asked “on the rebound?”
As I braced for the storm - instead - she said - “sit down”

She said it’s hard to hurt a heart that’s already broke
Surrounded by a wall so it can be alone
Using whiskey on the rocks as the mortar and stone
It’s hard to hurt a heart that’s broke

I heard about all his cheatin’ ways
She kicked him out, said she felt betrayed
But the longer we talked - the softer she got

I said I know my advice - is the last thing that you want
As I braced for fire and ice - instead - she said - go on

I said it’s hard to hurt a heart that’s already broke
Surrounded by a wall so it can be alone
Using whiskey on the rocks as the mortar and stone
It’s hard to hurt a heart that’s broke

I said I laid stone four years ago on a wall around my heart
Thinkin’ that my only hope was to drink away her scar
Till someone set me straight and taught me to forget
Said if you don’t fill up life’s suitcase it’s just a wasted trip

It’s hard to love a heart scared of being broke
Surrounded by a wall so it can be alone
So the best advice I know is to chip away the stone
And find a love that’s hard to hurt
You’ll find a love that’s hard to hurt

Horses

Plays: 0
Backstory
A cowboy song written from the angle that at the end of a career chasing rodeos he realizes he would trade all the horses he rode for one night with the woman he wouldn't let get close.
Lyrics
There’s a hole in his heart her mem’ry walks through
A whole lotta past he’d like to undo
Too many bruises and busted bones
And too much time spent healin’ alone
So tonight from the front porch of his cabin he strolls
Through mem’ries of old rodeos
The oats he’s sown, the records he’s broke
And all the horses he rode

But he’d trade all the titles, ropes and the reins
The saddles, buckles, trucks and all the fame
For one night with that woman he wouldn’t let get close
That woman whose lovin’ he now needs most
Yeah he’d give it all back if he could Lord knows
He’d trade all of the horses he’s rode

Chasin’ gold from a saddle hell bent on career
He couldn’t see past the next horse or steer
But all they are now are souvenirs
Collectin’ dust year after year
So tonight from the front porch of his cabin he strolls
Through mem’ries of old rodeos
Tradin’ letters she wrote, beggin’ him to come home
For all the horses he rode

But he’d trade all the titles, ropes and the reins
The saddles, buckles, trucks and all the fame
For one night with that woman he wouldn’t let get close
That woman whose lovin’ he now needs most
Yeah he’d give it all back if he could Lord knows
He’d trade all of the horses he’s rode

Yeah he’d give it all back if he could Lord knows
He’d trade all of the horses he’s rode

I Lied Too

Plays: 0
Backstory
I wrote this 90's sounding breakup song in the vein of Brooks and Dunn. Big sound with a twist in the hook.
Lyrics
You lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too

My last night of waiting for you to come home
I even rehearsed what to say
My grip damn near breaking that silent cell phone
I cursed your name then prayed you're OK

You lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too

The guilt in your eyes when I asked where you'd been
Told me I’d never hear the truth
Just old alibis and excuses again
But I knew what I had to do

You lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too

I wanted to say babe let’s work this out
Where there's truth there's always hope
But you completely erased any feeling of doubt
To hold on or just let go

When you lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too
Baby you lied to me, but I lied too

If I Had Listened

Plays: 0
Backstory
Powerful ballad about a man reflecting on the one simple thing he could have done to keep the woman he loves.
Lyrics
Sittin’ in the dark all alone
Readin’ over what she says is wrong
My heart explodes with every breath as I memorize the note she left behind

I know every word from before
Cause everything I’ve heard and just ignored
She said I need someone who’s not afraid to lean on me sometimes

If I had listened to what she tried to say
Opened up my heart before it was to late
I would have realized what she was missin’
If only I had listened

She said I prayed for change and you to hear
How every day’s the same, the weeks, the years
I miss that old desire that burns inside like fire when love is new

I think you’ll realize after I’m gone
This emptiness inside just can’t go on
I hope you find someday someone who makes you feel the way we used to

If I had listened to what she tried to say
Opened up my heart before it was to late
I would have realized what she was missin’

If I had listened with more than just my ears
I’d be holdin’ her instead of sittin’ here
I should have realized what I’d be missin’
If only I had listened

KISS A LOT OF FROGS

Plays: 8
Backstory
Female empowerment song written from the perspective that there are a lot of frogs out there they have to put up with in their quest to find their prince.
Lyrics
Mama says you'll know it - when the right man comes your way
He'll give you a soulful kiss - your inner Sleepin' Beauty will awake
So many dates wasted on those lips - to end up later with my girlfriends
You gotta kiss a lotta frogs - before you find your prince

You gotta kiss a lotta frogs - before you find your prince
Well I’m sorry mama but I don’t want Charmin' - cause I ain’t no princess
A noble man who’s a little bad boy - is high on the top of my list
Till then I’ll kiss a lotta frogs, but I - will find - my prince

Bogus Casanovas - toads with human heads
Where we work and where we play - with their sights set on tryin’ to get
Us to compromise and settle for less - and break down our defense
You gotta kiss a lot of frogs - before you find your prince

You gotta kiss a lotta frogs - before you find your prince
Well I’m sorry mama but I don’t want Charmin’ - cause I ain’t no princess
A noble man who’s a little bad boy - is high on the top of my list
Till then I’ll kiss a lotta frogs, but I - will find - my prince

You gotta kiss a lotta frogs - before you find your prince
Well I’m sorry mama but I don’t want Charmin' - cause I ain’t no princess
A noble man who’s a little bad boy - is high on the top of my list
Till then I’ll kiss a lotta frogs, but I - will find - my prince

Well till then I’ll kiss a lotta frogs, but I - will find - my prince

Lesser Heaven

Plays: 0
Backstory
90's sounding traditional country written from the perspective that we may not all be good enough for "Heaven", but maybe there's a "Lesser Heaven" waiting for us.
Lyrics
It’s been a while since I’ve been to church I know
But I don’t think that means I’ve lost my soul
At times I’m on the fringes of the fold
But I don’t think I’m doomed for down below

Cause I try to find my way with grace each day that’s given me
With a smile on my face in spite of the weight of responsibility
I know I’m far from a perfect man, that I will concede
But I believe there’s a lesser heaven
For a man like me

I confess I’ve given in to temptation
But I don’t think that means I’ll lose salvation
Cause upon a righteous full examination
I don’t think I'm headed for damnation

Cause I try to find my way with grace each day that’s given me
With a smile on my face in spite of the weight of responsibility
I know I’m far from a perfect man, that I will concede
But I believe there’s a lesser heaven
For a man like me

I'll never leave this earth a perfect man, but when my life's complete
I believe there'll be a lesser heaven
For a man like me

LETTIN' GO

Lyrics
LETTIN' GO
Writer: Marvin Adcock

From zero to a problem don't take long
Sometimes there's no stoppin' what goes wrong
We're told what don't kill you makes you strong
But that's a point of view I'm still working on

Lettin' go
Is the hardest thing I know
Open up that window that looks right into my soul
And lettin' go
Lettin' all my feelings show
Let my heart release the guilt the grief and forgiveness that I hold
By lettin' go

When the cold hard truth drives me to my knees
I don't know who to curse or to believe
So until I'm back again on solid ground
Some days I will swim but some I'll drown

Lettin' go
Is the hardest thing I know
Open up that window that looks right into my soul
And lettin' go
Lettin' all my feelings show
Let my heart release the guilt the grief and forgiveness that I hold
By lettin' go

Anger feeds the devil inside of me
The longer that I wait to set it free
So before I let it get too far along
The only sure fire way of movin' on

Lettin' go
Is the hardest thing I know
Open up that window that looks right into my soul
And lettin' go
Lettin' all my feelings show
Let my heart release the guilt the grief and forgiveness that I hold
By lettin' go

Livin' It Up

Plays: 0
Backstory
This barn burning 90's sounding party country song was written in the style of Brooks and Dunn.
Lyrics
Well I go bar hoppin' I don't get home till dawn
Runnin’ nonstop in places I don't belong
I got it made in the shade if the tree don't fall
Stayin' out late till the last call
I’m runnin' in the ground
Livin' it up on my way down

I live it up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday night
But one day, Sunday, I stay, away - home to re-energize
I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up, way up on my way down

I’m givin’ up workin’ that grind from nine to five
For spendin’ more time in the honkytonks and dives
I'm like a dog with fleas scratchin' away
Until that tree falls down one day
I’m stayin’ tightly wound
Livin' it up on my way down

I live it up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night
But one day, Sunday, I stay, away - home to re-energize
I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up, way up on my way down

I’m gonna keep on keepin’ on until I’ve had enough
Or until I stumble up upon a no prisoner kind of love

I live it up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night
But one day, Sunday, I stay, away - home to re-energize
I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up - way up on my way down

I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up, way up on my way down
All the way down

Look At The Love We're In

Plays: 0
Backstory
This traditional country song was written in the style of George Strait. It was on hold for Charlie Pride prior to his passing.
Lyrics
Sometimes it seems there’s lots of dreams that slowly passed us by
And it’s been tough to get ahead no matter how we try
But when I’m at the end of my rope and still comin’ up short
I know I’m still blessed when life’s a mess, when I look at what it’s all for

Just look at the love we’re in
Just look at the way we’re friends
Just look at where all we’ve been, through the years
Well I'd do it all again
The same way from beginning to end
We’ve always made such good sense
Just look at the love we’re in

There was that spring in Abilene we lived on those cell phones
Rode out that storm in Beaumont, oh I like to never made it home
That Christmas down in Tupelo, places I swore I’d never go
What got me through was lovin’ you, and those letters that you wrote

Just look at the love we’re in
Just look at the way we’re friends
Just look at where all we’ve been, through the years
Well I'd do it all again
The same way from beginning to end
We’ve always made such good sense
Just look at the love we’re in

You’ve always been the reason, my reason to go on
Even when all reason, to go on sometimes feels gone

Just look at the love we’re in
Just look at the way we’re friends
Just look at where all we’ve been, through the years
Well I'd do it all again
The same way from beginning to end
We’ve always made such good sense
Just look at the love we’re in

We’ve always made such good sense
Just look at the love we’re in

Love At First Dance

Plays: 2
Backstory
This powerful driving song was written in the 90's sounding style of Brooks and Dunn. This song was used in a CW network series episode.
Lyrics
In the heart of the night
To the beat of a drum
Drawn like moths to the light
The hopeful lonely come

She lets the night unfold
Out on that old dance floor
Whiskey lies are told
She’s heard them all before

Sometimes it’s hard for her to roll the dice
Her heart’s been stepped on more than once or twice
Still she’d rather trust in circumstance
Than give up believin’ in romance
Cause sometimes you find love at first dance

Under soft colored light
As the band plays on
She’s danced so many times
She smells of cheap cologne

Sometimes it’s hard for her to roll the dice
Her heart’s been stepped on more than once or twice
Still she’d rather trust in circumstance
Than give up believin’ in romance
Cause sometimes you find love at first dance

As the last song plays
While walkin’ to the door
She hears a new voice say
Won’t you please dance one more

Sometimes it’s hard for her to roll the dice
Her heart’s been stepped on more than once or twice
Still she’d rather trust in circumstance
Than give up believin’ in romance
Cause sometimes you find love
Yeah sometimes you find love
Oh sometimes you find love....at first dance

LOVE OF A WOMAN (Contemporary MIX)

Plays: 0
Backstory
This powerfully emotional ballad says what every woman would love to hear. This song was used in a Starz network series episode.
Lyrics
Most days it's just a game
And I do well to play my part
Go to work and wear the face
And thank my lucky stars

That the love of a woman - takes me home at night
The love of a woman - balances my life
With a soft touch and a gentle smile
A love that makes it all worthwhile
That innocent and wild - love of a woman

Same plan as every man
I don’t let my struggles show
Some believe I don't need a thing
But little do they know

That the love of a woman - takes me home at night
The love of a woman - balances my life
With a soft touch and a gentle smile
A love that makes it all worthwhile
That innocent and wild - love of a woman

I walk through that door each night
To the greatest blessing in my life

The love of a woman - takes me home at night
The love of a woman - balances my life
With a soft touch and a gentle smile
A love that makes it all worthwhile
That innocent and wild - love of a woman

Memory Like Mine

Plays: 0
Backstory
Heart breaking traditional country song written in the style of Alan Jackson.
Lyrics
January sixth - I’ll never forget
The first time you blessed me - with your warm lips
Can't put something like that aside
With a memory like mine

Moved you in March - to my postmark
You filled every corner - of my trusting heart
Can't put something like that aside
With a memory like mine

With a memory like mine
I have no friend in time
Just the love you left behind
With a memory like mine

From the calendar cube - in our bedroom
You wrote on the backside of - the twelfth of June
Your broken heart will heal with time
But not with a memory like mine

With a memory like mine
I have no friend in time
Just the love you left behind
With a memory like mine

With a memory like mine
I have no friend in time
There’s no peace of mind
With a memory like mine

Miracle Pill

Plays: 3
Backstory
This uplifting feel good story song was written in the style of Tim McGraw, but could work well for christian country artists as well.
Lyrics
Last night I had a dream that seemed so real
About a man who had invented a miracle pill
Said it’ll cure every disease - fix every disability
The world is gonna be completely healed

Then a young man in a wheel chair stilled the crowd
When he raised his hand said sir can I speak now
He looked fresh off the farm - ‘cept for a tattoo on his arm
I could read through the scars Army Proud

Then he said
I’ve been tested and questioned “Why me Lord”
And some things are a challenge that’s for sure
But I believe God uses problems – cause everybody’s got ‘em
To show the world that love is how we heal
Love is the real - miracle pill

Then he said I don’t believe God makes mistakes
And there’s a reason for each being He creates
That’s about when I woke up - started thinkin’ about the stuff
Like everybody does that keeps us awake

I’ve been tested and questioned “Why me Lord”
And some things are a challenge that’s for sure
But I believe God uses problems – cause everybody’s got ‘em
To show the world that love is how we heal
Love is the real - miracle pill

I believe when we are down to nothin’
God is up to somethin’

I’ve been tested and questioned “Why me Lord”
And some things are a challenge that’s for sure
But I believe God uses problems – cause everybody’s got ‘em
To show the world that love is how we heal
Love is the real - when life goes uphill - miracle pill

Last night I had a dream that seemed so real

Ordinary Day

Plays: 3
Backstory
I wrote this one as an affirmation to how important "ordinary days" are in our busy get-er-done lives.
Lyrics
Children gigglin' half awake, spillin' milk and frosted flakes - on the floor
Every day's the same routine, washin' faces brushin' teeth - then out the door
The noise of young'uns runnin' round
How I've come to love that sound

It's just an ordinary day
Another link in my life's chain
Each mornin' turns a page
For twenty-four more of the same
I'm thankful for each ordinary day

Saturdays they play non-stop, with the neighbor kids on our block - till after dark
Sundays we go for a drive, half the time we're tryin' to pry - kids apart
The noise of young'uns fussin' loud
The day'll come I miss that sound

It's just an ordinary day
I'm overworked and underpaid
But if you'd ask me what I'd change
I'd say how fast they get away
I'm thankful for each ordinary day

Birthdays, PTA, ballgames are wearin' us out
But someday we'll appreciate 'em - even more than now

It's just an ordinary day
Another link in my life's chain
Each mornin' turns a page
For twenty-four more of the same

It's just an ordinary day
I'm overworked and underpaid
But if you'd ask me what I'd change
I'd say how fast they get away
I'm thankful for each ordinary day
So thankful for each ordinary day

Children gigglin' half awake, spillin' milk and frosted flakes - thank the Lord

Runaway Train

Plays: 1
Backstory
Driving country rock song about this "runaway" life we all live, so make the best of it.
Lyrics
Whether a regular sinner, or considered a saint
Or live in between temptation and restraint
Only you know what you are and what you ain’t
This ride through life can be like a runaway train

It’ll travel faster with every passin’ year?
There’s no brake to pull so you gotta learn to steer
?It’ll test your faith to arrive on time not late?
This ride through life can be like a runaway train??

The speed of life makes it all a short ride?
And the ticket’s only good one-way, one-time?
You’re judged by how you live not how you explain?
The ride you take through life on the runaway train

Every scar and mark just proves that you’re alive?
As a testament to your power to survive?
Cause at the start that end looks further away ?
This ride through life can be like a runaway train ??

The speed of life makes it all a short ride?
And the ticket’s only good one-way, one-time?
You’re judged by how you live not how you explain?
The ride you take through life on the runaway train

What I’ve learned about this ride - from travelers come and gone
? Is no matter how you live it - the train will still roll on

The speed of life makes it all a short ride?
And the ticket’s only good one-way, one-time?
You’re judged by how you live not how you explain?
The ride you take through life on the runaway train

At this age I know what I am and I ain’t
That’s how you get this far through life on the runaway train

Shame On Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
I wrote this song after hearing the line in a movie "loving you with my eyes closed", and being a Roy Orbison fan I wanted to write a song that Roy would sing.
Lyrics
I think it’s time, time to end this masquerade
Of pretending we’re okay
Waiting just deepens the pain
Putting off facing the shame

Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me

I can’t believe you let me learn from our friends
You’re not really over him
Making me look like a fool
Breaking my blind heart in two

Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me

Even if I’d known it all would end
I’d still love you all over again

Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me

You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me

She Said

Plays: 0
Backstory
I wrote this "apology" song as an uptempo instead of the usual slow breakup song. Demos as a male song but would work well for a female artist.
Lyrics
She said as she finished packin’
This time I’m not movin’ back in
I don’t want to wait forever
Some things just don’t fit together

She said I’m so tired of cryin’
I can’t even feel you tryin’
I’m a fool for ever thinking’
You would notice my heart breakin’

I could not believe my ears I begged for one last chance
The lights were on and the band’s gone home and I had missed the dance
As every excuse that I’d ever used went spinnin’ through my head
I realized that she was right with every single word she said

She said as her tears were fallin’
I beg you please don’t bother callin’
Cry on someone else’s shoulder
It’s hard enough just startin’ over

She said I’ve been thinkin’ lately
You never did appreciate me
But I know love is always gamblin’
Then I heard the front door slammin’

I could not believe my ears I begged for one last chance
The lights were on and the band’s gone home and I had missed the dance
As every excuse that I’d ever used went spinnin’ through my head
I realized that she was right with every single word she said

She stared in disbelief when I swore I could change
And how ashamed I felt right then
For every star, every beat of my heart, every hour of every day
I’d be the man I should have been

I could not believe my ears I begged for one last chance
The lights were on and the band’s gone home and I had missed the dance
As every excuse that I’d ever used went spinnin’ through my head
I realized that she was right with every single word she said
I heard every word she said

Sunday Supper

Plays: 0
Backstory
Feel good inspirational story song written in the style of Marty Raybon and Shenandoah, Mo Pitney, etc.
Lyrics
I hear the sound of laughter as I open that front door
Family gathered round that big oak table once more
It’s a Sunday thing - that’s everything

Daddy says I’m hungry everybody find your place
Just like every Sunday we begin by saying grace
Heads bowed down - hands joined round

Sunday supper with the family
Ain’t no better way to tell a week - goodbye
Sittin’ ‘round a table catchin’ up
With the people that you love - good time
What this world needs is a lot more family Sunday suppers

Brother is relieved he wasn’t laid off work last week
Sister and her husband say they’re finally gonna be
A mom and dad - everybody’s glad

Sunday supper with the family
Ain’t no better way to tell a week goodbye
Sittin’ ‘round a table catchin’ up
With the people that you love - good time
What this world needs is a lot more family - Sunday suppers

Mama says her chemo’s down to just one more treatment left
Before she starts another round of all them pesky tests
Then daddy jokes - that’s how he copes

Sunday supper with the family
Ain’t no better way to tell a week goodbye
Sittin’ ‘round a table catchin’ up
With the people that you love - good time
What this world needs is a lot more Andy G.
What this world needs is a lot more Mayberry
What this world needs is a lot more family - Sunday suppers

I hear the sound of laughter as I open that front door

THEN COMES THE NIGHT

Plays: 0
Backstory
Powerful ballad written for male or female artists. This song would work in multiple genres.
Lyrics
I go to work each day like nothings changed
Our friends just can’t believe how strong I am
I say that I’m OK, sometimes life gets rearranged
You have to learn to take it like a man

Then comes the night, and voices start callin’
Just like the light, my teardrops start fallin’
I completely break down, go to black from white
I have my feet on the ground, but then comes the night

We never said goodbye, I turned around and you weren’t here
I could not convince myself at first
How in the blinking of an eye I watched our dreams just disappear
I only thought that I had felt the worst

Then comes the night, and voices start callin’
Just like the light, my teardrops start fallin’
I completely break down, go to black from white
I have my feet on the ground, but then comes the night

I pray to lose this hurt of being left alone
I fake my way through work but Lord when I get home

Here comes the night, and voices start callin’
Just like the light, my teardrops start fallin’
I completely break down, go to black from white
I have my feet on the ground, but then comes the night

I go to work each day, like nothings changed

Til You Try

Plays: 0
Backstory
Feel good two stepping traditional country song written in the style of Strait, Jackson, etc.
Lyrics
You always have to meet halfway
For love to last past yesterday
And it won’t always be a rose bouquet
Sometimes you’ll feel mystified
On why can’t love be simplified
But you won’t know real love ’til you try

Love can un-break a heart, make it warm
Take sayin’ I’m sorry to a new art form
Sometimes you’ll laugh, sometimes you’ll cry
But you won’t know real love ’til you try

Love can linger like an echo will
Fade away but remain so real
Start a war or calm a battlefield
Eventually you’re qualified
To speak on love and philosophize
But you won’t know real love ’til you try

Love can unbreak a heart, make it warm
Take sayin’ I’m sorry to a new art form
Sometimes you’ll laugh, sometimes you’ll cry
But you won’t know real love ’til you try

TOO GOOD TO BE FORGOT (M-MIX)

Plays: 1
Lyrics
Lightnin’ speed on spoke wheeled bikes
Hide and seek hot summer nights
Swimmin’ creeks when fish don’t bite
I can still recall

Growin’ up when times were lean
To have enough was all you need
Mama’s love fixed everything
And taught us all

From your knees count your blessings each day
For those more in need always pray
Don’t lose sight of where you’re from
Cause in time it will become
Treasured forever in your thoughts
These days are too good to be forgot

Granddad used to make me laugh
Teased me to the day he passed
Enjoy your youth boy time goes fast
But I didn’t believe

Got a small tribe of my own
I can’t deny how fast they grow
From Heaven high “I told you so”
Gramps keeps telling me

From your knees count your blessings each day
For those more in need always pray
Don’t lose sight of where you’re from
Cause in time it will become
Treasured forever in your thoughts
These days are too good to be forgot

Don’t lose sight of where you’re from
Cause in time it will become
Treasured forever in your thoughts
These days are too good
These days are too good
These days are too good to be forgot

Two Bartender

Plays: 3
Backstory
I wrote this traditional honky tonk song to fit the style of Jon Pardi, Garth Brooks, etc.
Lyrics
There's too much world to rearrange, and my best bet's to make it go away
Too many things I can't change and so little I can explain
I'm tryin' to disconnect my intellect, I need more whiskey instead of less
So give me two bartender I’ll forget her in half the time

Give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind
Too much left to think about
It's only 'round twelve-fifty-nine
So set me up again my friend
Before it's closin' time
Give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind

I guess I'm not as over her as I'd like to be
I can't quite lick it, or reach my limit, I'm an emotional casualty
I can't seem to loose these lovesick blues, so open up another bottle of truth
And give me two bartender I’ll forget her in half the time

Give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind
Too much left to think about
It's only 'round twelve-fifty-nine
So set me up again my friend
Before it's closin' time
Give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind

Well it seems I gotta lotta thoughts left to be thunk
They keep runnin' through my head all at once
I'm a long way from feelin' I've had enough
So it's thumb down on life and bottoms up

And give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind
Too much left to think about
It's only 'round twelve-fifty-nine
So set me up again my friend
Before it's closin' time
And give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind

Yes there is - give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind

Give me two bartender
There's a lot more on my mind

You Can Count On Me

Plays: 0
Backstory
In today's throw away society, I wrote this feel good song for every couple who work hard to keep their relationship ongoing.
Lyrics
He grabbed his keys and headed for the door
He thought I gotta get away
He didn’t want to fight anymore
That’s when he heard her say

You can count on me, I won’t ever let go
You can count on me, I just want you to know
That you can always count on me

He felt so small, not the man she deserved
The words he heard caught him off guard
He said I’m sorry, she said love takes work
He spoke straight from his heart

You can count on me, I won’t ever let go
You can count on me, I just want you to know
That you can always count on me

Sometimes it’s hard to just get by
He’d love to give her so much more
But when they don’t see eye to eye
They know their love’s worth fighting for

You can count on me, I won’t ever let go
You can count on me, I just want you to know
I love you so much, that’s why it hurts
When we don’t agree
But you can always count on me
Yes you can always count on me

Love's Gonna Get Us All

Backstory
I wrote this one purposely as an easy listening song for lovers. This song would work for multiple genres.
Lyrics
Once I had a lonely heart
Lookin' for my missin' part
Disappointed by more than one mistake
I was thinkin' 'bout givin' up
When out of nowhere there it was
Love's gonna get us all someday

Now sunshine feels warmer
Skys a bluer shade
It took a little longer
To finally come my way
But love's gonna get us all someday

So if you've got a lonely heart
Lookin' for your missin' part
Don't worry it's always worth the wait
You don't have to settle for less
When life starts to feel like one big mess
Cause love's gonna get us all someday

And sunshine feels warmer
Skys a bluer shade
It might be 'round the corner
Or down the road a ways
But love's gonna get us all someday

It's not fate, it's not luck
Yet sometimes the wait seems way to much
To ask, but hold on it's comin'
When is always hard to say
But hearts full of love always find their way
Love's gonna get us all someday

And sunshine feels warmer
Skys a bluer shade
It might be 'round the corner
Or down the road a ways
But love's gonna get us all someday

Yeah love's gonna get us all
Oh love's gonna get us all
Love's gonna get us all someday

Lyrics
BACKSEAT PROMISES
Marvin Adcock / Heather Morris

I thought it was love but it never lasted
When things got said in the heat of passion
That's not the kind I'm waiting for
It's gotta be something real, something more

Then backseat promises, the kind you make and then forget
I want a love that burns longer than an after cigarette
Someone who'll be there at dawn, who's in it for the long haul
Who means every word he says, not just backseat promises

Don't say you want more, than just this long weekend
Don't tell me you'll call, unless you really mean it
Cause unless you're dying to tell your friends
Everything about me baby all this is

Is backseat promises, the kind you make and then forget
I want a love that burns longer than an after cigarette
Someone who'll be there at dawn, who's in it for the long haul
Who means every word he says, not just backseat promises

If mañana, your Tony Lamas, are still beside the bed
You just might be, more than just skin deep, and mean everything you said

Not backseat promises, the kind you make and then forget
I want a love that burns longer than an after cigarette
Someone who'll be there at dawn, who's in it for the long haul
Who means every word he says, not just backseat promises

TIME OF MY LIFE

Plays: 2
Backstory
Another female song written with Heather Morris about witnessing someone else living the life you once had.
Lyrics
At a cozy outdoor café downtown on the square
Though I couldn’t see those hazel eyes I knew it was him
When I heard a bass drum voice I'd recognize anywhere
And I smelled the take me home cologne in the wind

He had his back to me, I watched him pour her a glass of wine
They were close enough to see the love in her eyes

She was having the time, the time of my life
She was laughing so hard, so hard I could cry
Heaven knows that we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
And now she's having the time of my life

They were lost in conversation sure wish I could read lips
But it was obvious to me this wasn’t their first date
I didn’t have to hear their words, to know when they kissed
She was more than a one night good time girl to take my place

She was having the time, the time of my life
She was laughing so hard, so hard I could cry
Heaven knows that we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
And now she's having the time of my life

Yeah Heaven knows we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
And now someone else is having the time of my life

She was having the time, the time of my life
She was laughing so hard, so hard I could cry
Heaven knows that we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
Now someone else is having the time of my life

Lyrics
CHOICES OF THE HEART
Writer: Marvin Adcock

V1:
We didn’t choose to fall in love
It kinda just sucked us in
A decision that simply was
Made without questionin’

PCH1:
It wasn’t a roll of the dice
We knew right from the start
Some things you don’t even think twice
They’re choices of the heart

CH:
You were a man of little persistence
I was a woman prone to resistance
But two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

V2:
The first time I laid eyes on you
My heart told my mind and soul
Somethin’ they both already knew
This time I’m takin’ control

PCH2:Typically I'ld shrug me off
With a stinging remark
Just like you I was already lost
To choices of the heart

CH:
You were a man of little persistence
I was a woman prone to resistance
But two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart
By choices of the heart

BR:
We spent that night, just talkin’ and laughin’
Baby it felt so right, just lettin’ love happen

CH:
You were a man of little persistence
I was a woman prone to resistance
But two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart
Choices of the heart
Choices of the heart
Choices of the heart

Gone

Backstory
Being a songwriter can sometimes be like watching your children grow. You do your best, but only time can reveal what they are destined to become. I have always loved this lyric, but I was never satisfied with previous demos, so I have been writing, rewriting, re-producing, and re-demoing this for many years. Yesterday I think the Lord put His hand on my shoulder, and said "Let's finish this", and so we did. I believe this is what it has always meant to become. It just took time.
Lyrics
Through bitter tears she prayed, please help me Lord
To face the truth and listen to my heart
She tried leaving him not once, but twice before
But never found the strength to get this far

There was nothing said
There was no goodbye
Just a look to say what they had known so long
She tried going once
She tried going twice
But this time she was going, going, gone

Twice before she let old feelings for him
Keep her on that train running out of track
Till she couldn’t bear to wake up one more morning
To another day of living in the past

There was nothing said
There was no goodbye
Just a look to say what they had known so long
She tried going once
She tried going twice
But this time she was going, going, gone

Neither one of them was looking for a reason
Why she should stay or where to lay the blame
They just couldn’t make hearts feel what they weren’t feeling
They just couldn’t make love burn where there’s no flame

There was nothing said
There was no goodbye
Just a look to say what they had known so long
She tried going once
She tried going twice
But this time she was going
Yeah this time she was going
This time she was going, going, gone

Kickin' Back With Blue

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Woke up just this mornin’ didn’t know the time, the day, or the year
The only friend I have in this whole world is my dog Blue layin’ here
When I climbed up this mountain I was tryin’ to escape from fools gone mad
I wonder if they’re still alive or have they ruined the only world they had

Me and Blue just kickin’ back not hatin’ anyone
We’ll worry about tomorrow when today is done
Me and Blue just kickin’ back and breathin’ mountain air
Not carin’ about the world that lives down there

Thank you Lord for lettin’ me open my eyes and live another day
I know you’ve got the power if you set your mind to take it all away
Come on Blue it’s time we checked those traps up on Willow Creek
And if that dang old goat don’t milk we’ll be drinkin’ water another week

Me and Blue just kickin’ back not hatin’ anyone
We’ll worry about tomorrow when today is done
Me and Blue just kickin’ back and breathin’ mountain air
Not carin’ about the world that lives down there

With big sad eyes Blue looks up at me and I know what’s on his mind
He’s a wonderin’ if we’ll ever climb back down and leave this way of life behind
Well listen here you ugly dog what ever makes you think I’d leave these woods
Cause I’ve been down there and I wouldn’t trade you for a million dollars if I could

Me and Blue just kickin’ back not hatin’ anyone
We’ll worry about tomorrow when today is done
Me and Blue just kickin’ back and breathin’ mountain air
Not carin’ about the world that lives down there

Me and Blue just kickin’ back not hatin’ anyone
We’ll worry about tomorrow when today is done
Me and Blue just kickin’ back and breathin’ mountain air
Not carin’ about the world that lives down there
Not carin’ about the world that lives down there

Eyes of Faith

Plays: 1
Lyrics
Mountains move, drifters reach the shore
Dreamers never lose what they’re dreaming for
When I’m drowning in a sea of doubt
You reach in and pull me out
There’s nothing I can’t face with eyes of faith

For us to see beyond the physical
We must believe and trust the spiritual
There is nothing we cannot face
See his loving through eyes of faith

Some days are dark, and hard to see ahead
You hear what’s in my heart though left unsaid
Your love feeds my hungry soul
Fill my emptiness with hope
There’s nothing I can’t face with eyes of faith

For us to see beyond the physical
We must believe and trust the spiritual
There is nothing we cannot face
See his loving through eyes of faith

You count my tears, feel every breath I breathe
Your strength in times of weakness carries me
I hope and I pray with all my might
To never lose you from my life
Cause there’s nothing I can’t face with eyes of faith

For us to see beyond the physical
We must believe and trust the spiritual
There is nothing we cannot face
We see his loving through eyes of faith

There is nothing we cannot face
We see his loving through eyes of faith

A PATIENT MAN (Traditional MIX)

Plays: 1
Lyrics
I finish everything I start
Racin' time and on the run
From early mornin’ until dark
To get it done

I get impatient waitin’ for
My work day to finally end
To hurry back through that front door
To you again

I’ve never been a patient man
Burnin’ at both ends fast as I can
But when I'm with you and the lights are low
All I wanna do is take it slow
So every kiss you know you’re with
A patient man

I’ve got a hemi in my truck
DSL and my cell’s 4G
But even they ain’t fast enough
Some days for me

I’ve never been a patient man
Burnin’ at both ends fast as I can
But when I'm with you and the lights are low
All I wanna do is take it slow
So every kiss you know you’re with
A patient man

All my problems melt away
My high strung world comes unwound
Every time you light that flame
Girl I slow down

I’ve never been a patient man
Burnin’ at both ends fast as I can
But when I'm with you and the lights are low
All I wanna do is take it slow
So every kiss you know you’re with
A patient man
Yeah every everlastin’ kiss you know you’re with
A patient man

LOVE LOOKS LIKE THAT (Contemporary MIX)

Plays: 3
Backstory
A song about the many faces of love.
Lyrics
LOVE LOOKS LIKE THAT
Marvin Adcock / Dave Quirk / David Hill

It’s spendin’ way to long
Kissin’ her goodnight
Knowin’ that her mom’s
Waitin’ just inside
As the minutes pass
Scared he still stands pat
Love looks like that

Can’t be bought, can’t be sold
When it’s lost, leaves a hole
Gives meaning to this crazy world
Worth more than all its gold and pearls
It’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

It’s buyin’ medicine
Middle of the night
Cause her baby’s temp
Climbed to one o five
She don’t give a damn
She’s still in her’ jams
Love looks like that

Can’t be bought, can’t be sold
When it’s lost, leaves a hole
Gives meaning to this crazy world
Worth more than all its gold and pearls
It’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

It’s the slow shuffle of
Old couple holdin’ hands
Sixty years in love
Worn smooth wedding bands
Told it wouldn’t last
They just smile and laugh
Love looks like that

Can’t be bought, can’t be sold
When it’s lost, leaves a hole
Gives meaning to this crazy world
Worth more than all its gold and pearls
But it’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

Yeah it’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

I Lied Too (Female MIX)

Plays: 1
Backstory
Female version of a song that I created using AI by using the uploaded male version that was tracked in a Nashville studio a few years ago. My lyrics, my melody.
Lyrics
You lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too

My last night of waiting for you to come home
I even rehearsed what to say
My grip damn near breaking that silent cell phone
I cursed your name then prayed you're OK

You lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too

The guilt in your eyes when I asked where you'd been
Told me I’d never hear the truth
Just old alibis and excuses again
But I knew what I had to do

You lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too

I wanted to say babe let’s work this out
Where there's truth there's always hope
But you completely erased any feeling of doubt
To hold on or just let go

When you lied to me, but I lied too
You said you’d love me forever
I said I’d get over you
You lied to me, but I lied too
You lied to me, but I lied too
Yeah baby you lied to me, but I lied too

Lyrics
These are the days of thunder
I gotta make time stand still

A quarter after midnight
I’m watchin’ the wall
Sometimes I feel so uptight
I can’t sleep at all
Every day doin’ the same old thing I’m losin’ time
The weekend comes I gotta have some fun and rewind

These are the days of thunder
I gotta make time stand still
I need to feed the hunger
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill

I feel the rope a tightnin’
Chokin’ off my air
I need to grab some lightnin’
Friday’s almost here
Caught in a web I need to cut this thread I’m hangin’ by
Where is it said you have to be half dead to survive

These are the days of thunder
I gotta make time stand still
I need to feed the hunger
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill

These are the days of thunder
I gotta make time stand still
I need to feed the hunger
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill

These are the days of thunder
I gotta make time stand still
I need to feed the hunger
Hangin’ over the edge just to taste the thrill

Memory Like Mine (Female MIX)

Backstory
Heartache and a few guitar chords. I wrote this song with my buddy John Bizzack from Lexington, Kentucky several years ago during one of my trips to Nashville. We first demoed it at Brush Hill Studios in Nashville with Arvel Bird producing and Tim Hopkins singing it. A year or two later it caught the attention of Ken Biddy with Copperfield Music Group. Ken and I kept in contact through the years always talking about this song, but sadly we lost Ken last year after his brave battle with cancer. During that same time period the song also caught the attention of Chris Dodson with Makin' Music, and Chris re-demoed the song using a different vocalist. Unfortunately this was all taking place about the time that country music was steering away from the traditional sound, so as much as the song was loved it never found a home. In 2021 after rewriting some of the lyrics I had the song demoed for the third time at Brent Rader Productions in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Since then it has nestled quietly in my catalog not getting pitched very often. This week it dawned on me that I never tracked the song using a female vocalist, and there are a lot of great female artists in country music right now, so I revamped a few lyrics, and changed the production to make it a little different from the male track. I can hear the heartache in every syllable.....I love it. I think it's time to start pitching "Memory Like Mine" again.
Lyrics
January sixth, I’ll never forget
The first time you blessed me with your warm lips
Can't put something like that aside
With a memory like mine

With a memory like mine
I have no friend in time
Just the love you left behind
With a memory like mine

Moved you in March, to my postmark
You filled every corner of my trusting heart
I can't put something like that aside
With a memory like mine

With a memory like mine
I have no friend in time
Just the love you left behind
With a memory like mine
With a memory like mine

From the calendar cube, in our bedroom
You wrote on the backside of the twelfth of June
Your broken heart will heal with time
But not with a memory like mine

With a memory like mine
I have no friend in time
Just the love you left behind
With a memory like mine

With a memory like mine
I have no friend in time
There’s no peace of mind
With a memory like mine
With a memory like mine

Love Looks Like That (Traditional MIX)

Backstory
A song about the many faces of love.
Lyrics
LOVE LOOKS LIKE THAT
Marvin Adcock / Dave Quirk / David Hill

It’s spendin’ way to long
Kissin’ her goodnight
Knowin’ that her mom’s
Waitin’ just inside
As the minutes pass
Scared he still stands pat
Love looks like that

Can’t be bought, can’t be sold
When it’s lost, leaves a hole
Gives meaning to this crazy world
Worth more than all its gold and pearls
It’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

It’s buyin’ medicine
Middle of the night
Cause her baby’s temp
Climbed to one o five
She don’t give a damn
She’s still in her’ jams
Love looks like that

Can’t be bought, can’t be sold
When it’s lost, leaves a hole
Gives meaning to this crazy world
Worth more than all its gold and pearls
It’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

It’s the slow shuffle of
Old couple holdin’ hands
Sixty years in love
Worn smooth wedding bands
Told it wouldn’t last
They just smile and laugh
Love looks like that

Can’t be bought, can’t be sold
When it’s lost, leaves a hole
Gives meaning to this crazy world
Worth more than all its gold and pearls
But it’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

Yeah it’s a proven fact
Given away, it trickles back
Love looks like that

Lyrics
MIRACLE PILL
Writer: Marvin Adcock

Last night I had a dream that seemed so real
About a man who had invented a miracle pill
Said it’ll cure every disease, fix every disability
The world is gonna be completely healed

Then a young man in a wheel chair stilled the crowd
When he raised his hand said sir can I speak now
He looked fresh off the farm, ‘cept for a tattoo on his arm
I could read through the scars Army Proud

I’ve been tested and questioned “Why me Lord”
And some things are a challenge that’s for sure
But I believe God uses problems cause everybody’s got ‘em
To show the world that love is how we heal
Love is the real miracle pill

He said I don’t believe God makes mistakes
And there’s a reason for each being He creates
That’s about when I woke up, started thinkin’ about the stuff
Like everybody does that keeps us awake

I’ve been tested and questioned “Why me Lord”
And some things are a challenge that’s for sure
But I believe God uses problems cause everybody’s got ‘em
To show the world that love is how we heal
Love is the real miracle pill

I believe when we are down to nothin’
That God is up to somethin’

I’ve been tested and questioned “Why me Lord”
And some things are a challenge that’s for sure
But I believe God uses problems cause everybody’s got ‘em
To show the world that love is how we heal
Love is the real, when life goes uphill, miracle pill

Last night I had a dream that seemed so real

SUNDAY SUPPER (REMIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I love the sound of laughter as I open that front door
From family as we gather at mom and dad’s once more
It’s a weekly thing, that’s everything

Then daddy says I’m hungry everybody find your place
And just like every Sunday we begin by saying grace
As our heads bow down, hands join round

Sunday supper with the family
There ain’t no better way to tell a week goodbye
Sunday supper with the family
Catchin’ up with those you love and havin’ a good time
What this crazy world needs are a lot more family
Sunday Suppers

My brother’s still adjustin’ just came home PTSD
My sister and her husband say they’re finally gonna be
A new mom and dad, everybody’s glad

Mama says her chemo’s down to just one last treatment left
Before she starts another ‘round of them nasty pesky tests
And daddy jokes, that’s how he copes

Sunday supper with the family
There ain’t no better way to tell a week goodbye
Sunday supper with the family
Catchin’ up with those you love and havin’ a good time
What this crazy world needs are a lot more family
Sunday Suppers

Sunday supper with the family
There ain’t no better way to tell a week goodbye
Sunday supper with the family

GOD'S LITTLE HALF ACRE (FEMALE MIX)

Plays: 0
Backstory
A song written from a true story.
Lyrics
At the Eventide Convalescent Center every third Saturday
Dad and I would go eat dinner with aunt Opal who was eighty-eight
I was pickin’ at my food when an old black man sat down at the table by me
He looked me in the eye and said, “How do you do, my name’s Cushinberry.”

Said I was born in an all black town in Kansas called Nickodemus
In World War II was an Army medic then settled in Topeka
I was fortunate to have a good momma and dad who taught me all about God’s grace
The same way girl that yours have or you wouldn’t be here today

You can always find someone that’s got it worse help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spends just payin’ rent for God’s little half acre

He said for years I gave away food and cloths had a Christian Mission store
Had a sign that read “for the needy, not the greedy” that hung above the door
I like to think I gave hope and dreams to folks who didn’t have any
But girl I saw things that just shouldn’t be here in the land of plenty

You can always find someone that’s got it worse help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spends just payin’ rent for God’s little half acre

Three weeks passed, I went back, they told me he had died
While mumblin’ somethin’ about a little piece of ground waitin’ on the other side

You can always find someone that’s got it worse help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spends just payin’ rent, to this day I think of him
Visitin’ with all his friends, on God’s little half acre

COMING HOME

Plays: 4
Backstory
Demo was recorded by Brent Rader in Nashville.
Lyrics
I would gaze at those bonfires after games
Drift away on smoke genies in the flames
Barely more than a kid with an itch to roam
Never dreamed someday I’d miss comin’ home

The taste of life was honey on my tongue
Eighteen I couldn’t wait for twenty-one
When I left home dad said son pick up a phone
Let your mama know when you’re comin’ home

I’ve seen
California, to Portugal
Every highway and terminal
But I missed bullfrogs singin’ their songs
And crickets as they sing along
I’ve been all around the world but the sweetest road I know
Is the one that I’m on comin’ home

Yeah I've seen
California to Portugal
Every highway and terminal
But I missed bullfrogs singin’ their songs
And crickets as they sing along
I’ve been all around the world but the sweetest road I know
Is the one that ‘m on comin’ home

Greet every sun like it might be your last
Treat everyone how you want treated back
I guarantee that right before you go
The angels tell your mama you’re comin’ home

My Best Is Yet To Be (COUNTRY ROCK MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Wakin’ up to the loud sound of breathin’
In a shelter full of strangers sleepin’
Twisted up with her mama and sister
Wonderin’ if anybody would miss her
Too young to understand just what they’re doin’ here
She covers up her head to make it disappear

Some days you gotta scream
I can’t take this anymore
Some days you gotta reach
Deeper than you have before
Don’t hold back, don’t concede, when the Devil laughs say I believe
My best is yet to be

Flag wavin’ in a Kansas sky breezy
Can make freedom look pretty damn easy
Somewhere soldiers ‘round a mess hall table
Are toastin' friends now flyin' with angels
Too young to understand just what they’re doin’ here
They raise another glass to make it disappear

Some days you gotta scream
I can’t take this anymore
Some days you gotta reach
Deeper than you have before
Don’t hold back, don’t concede, when the Devil laughs say I believe
My best is yet to be

Instrument Break

Some days you gotta scream
I can’t take this anymore
Some days you gotta reach
Deeper than you have before
Don’t hold back, don’t concede, when the Devil laughs say I believe

CHOICES OF THE HEART (DUET)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
We didn’t choose to fall in love - it kinda just sucked us in
A decision that simply was - made without questionin’
It wasn’t a roll of the dice - we knew right from the start
Some things you don’t even think twice - they’re choices of the heart

Though I was a man of little persistence
And you were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

The first time I laid eyes on you - my heart told my mind and soul
Somethin’ they both already knew - this time I’m takin’ control
Typically I'd shrug you off - with a stingin' remark
But just like you I was already lost - to choices of the heart

Though I was a woman prone to resistance
And you were a man of little persistence
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

We spent that night - just talkin’ and laughin’
It felt so right - just lettin’ love happen

Though I was a man of little persistence
And I was a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart
Choices of the heart
Choices of the heart

Worth Watching (Female MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
It was evenin’ front porch listnin’
To my elders in my youth
And the sound of rain drops drippin’
Off a rusty old tin roof
It was the first wish on the first star
As the summer sun was droppin’
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was the minute that it hit me
That your grandpa was the one
Just to say the rest was his’try
Don’t near cover all we’ve done
It was the arguments and make ups
All our wins and all our losses
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was a gravel road to a fishin’ hole
With kids loaded in the back
It was the way he sweat hopin’ I’d say yes
It don’t get no better than that
I pray when I reach those gates
The Lord sees what I do often
Little pieces of a life worth watchin'

That was the last time I was with her
We spent hours on that porch
A summer evenin' I’ll remember
And be forever thankful for
We made a wish upon the first star
As the summer sun was droppin’
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was a gravel road to a fishin’ hole
With kids loaded in the back
It was the way he sweat hopin’ she’d say yes
It don’t get no better than that
I pray when I reach those gates
The Lord sees what I do often
Little pieces of a life worth watchin'

Oh I pray when I reach those gates
The Lord sees what I do often
Little pieces of a life worth watchin'

TIME OF MY LIFE (MALE MIX)

Plays: 2
Lyrics
At a cozy outdoor cafe downtown on the square
Though I couldn't see those hazel eyes, it started sinkin' in
When I heard a familiar voice I'd recognize anywhere
And I smelled that deja vu perfume in the wind
She had her back to me, I watched him pour her a glass of wine
They were close enough to see the love in his eyes

He was having the time, the time of my life
He was laughing so hard, so hard I could cry
Heaven knows we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
And now he's having the time of my life

They were lost in conversation, sure wish I could read lips
But it was obvious to me this wasn't their first date
I didn't have to hear their words to know when they kissed
He was more than a one night good time guy to take my place

He was having the time, the time of my life
He was laughing so hard, so hard I could cry
Heaven knows that we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
And now he's having the time of my life

Yeah heaven knows we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
Now someone else is having, the time of my life

He was having the time, the time of my life
He was laughing so hard, so hard I could cry
Heaven knows that we had our lows, but Lord how I miss those highs
Now someone else is having the time of my life

Cross Your Heat (MIX) 11.15.25

Plays: 0
Lyrics
He’s felt the chill of city winds
And heat from desert roads
Thirty-one and fence rail thin
Still chasin’ rodeos
Each call home his mama scolds him
I never know where you are
I pray you’re OK and the right girl someday
Will cross your heart

He loves to feel that horse below
And hear the roar of a crowd
With every win he thanks his heros
To some he’s one now
An old cowboy told him once in Reno
Look at me and get smart
Don’t shut the gate on the trail love might take
To cross your heart

He’d started blamin’ the way he lives
For the lonesome achin’ in his arms
Cause lately he’s been wonderin’
Could someone ever cross his heart

She asked if he’d like one more cup
Before they closed for the night
Her sweet voice made him slowly look up
Into an angel’s eyes
Tailgate livin’ from an old Ford truck
Had started losin’ charm
You never know when things you can’t control
Will cross your heart

You never know when things you can’t control
Will cross your heart

Do What You Gotta Do (Female MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Is there anyone listnin’ who hadn't thought about quittin’
And runnin’ away
Is there anyone here who hadn’t feared
What’s comin’ next day
Is there anyone who hadn’t felt like a fool
And asked yourself what am I gonna do

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelin’s out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
Do what you gotta do

A single mom in the city or a farm in Mississippi
Some roads run uphill
You make your own breaks and your own mistakes
Doin’ what you feel
After more than a few walls ran into
You tell yourself to hell with the rules

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelin’s out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
Do what you gotta do

Dead tired you wanna stop, don’t wanna go another round
But without a second thought, you drop that plow back in the ground

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelin’s out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
For your family, faith and freedom
Make no excuse
Do what you gotta do
Do what you gotta do

Kindness and Respect (Female MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
I called him Lieutenant Dan
Purple Heart from Vietnam
Agent orange took his left arm
Was always first on his feet
Singin’ out loud and proud O say can you see
His right hand pressed to his heart

And he’d say
Life is learned with blood and sweat
Kindness is earned just like respect
Grandpa’s quartet was blood, sweat, kindness and respect

He loved to sing Amazin’ Grace
Every mornin’ at daybreak
From his church, his tractor seat
Nine o’clock was his bedtime
I'd hear him tellin' grandma's picture goodnight
Right before he’d fall asleep

Life is learned with blood and sweat
Kindness is earned just like respect
Grandpa’s quartet was blood, sweat, kindness and respect

I won’t forget all he taught me
Laugh how he sang so off key

Life is learned with blood and sweat
Kindness is earned just like respect
Grandpa’s quartet he sang till the Lord said rest
With blood, sweat, kindness and respect
Blood, sweat, kindness and respect

CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR (FEMALE MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Hands at two and ten I tightly grip the steering wheel
Holdin' an old friend and still remembrin' how it feels
Freedom of the road, sixteen years old
Just like that, I go back

Cause it’s a part of me, it’s the heart of me
Shadows in my rear view
Mem’ries in the mirror - are closer than they appear

Every time I swear I hear that old George Strait tune
I’m back in her arms singing along with “Baby Blue”
Learnin’ by mistakes, backroads, driveways
Just like that, I go back

Cause it’s a part of me, it’s the heart of me
Shadows in my rear view
Mem’ries in the mirror - are closer than they appear

First kiss - fresh starts - lost friends - broke hearts

Cause it’s a part of me, it’s the heart of me
Shadows in my rear view
Mem’ries in the mirror - are closer than they appear
So much closer - than they appear

If I Had Listened (Female MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Sitting in the dark
All alone
Reading over what he says is wrong
My heart explodes with every breath as I memorize the note he left behind

I know every word
From before
Cause everything I've heard and just ignored
He said I need someone who's not afraid to lean on me sometimes

If I had listened to what he tried to say
Opened up my heart before it was too late
I would have realized what he was missing
If only I had listened

He said I prayed for change and you to hear
How every day's the same, the weeks, the years
I miss that old desire that burns inside like fire when love is new

I think you'll realize after I'm gone
This emptiness inside just can't go on
I hope you find someday someone who makes you feel the way I used to

If I had listened to what he tried to say
Opened up my heart before it was too late
I would have realized what he was missing

If I had listened with more than just my ears
I'd be holding him instead of sitting here
I should have realized what I'd be missing
If only I had listened

Dance With Me (Traditional MIX)

Lyrics
There’s a song playing on late night radio
That’s takin’ me back to so long ago
To places we’ve been and things we’ve done
I'm wishin’ we could live ‘em over one by one

Come dance with me baby cheek to cheek
Pressed up against me like you used to be
I wanna feel you breathe, and the heat of your skin
To see if it leads to what it did back then
Come dance with me

Girl together we’re sharing a lifetime of firsts
A whole lotta love and a little bitta hurt
The beat of that drum, and the one in my chest
Are pounding out emotions only you can address

Come dance with me baby cheek to cheek
Pressed up against me like you used to be
I wanna feel you breathe, and the heat of your skin
To see if it leads to what it did back then
Come dance with me

We’ll lock the door, and turn out the light
Turn the radio, and us up on high

Come dance with me baby cheek to cheek
Pressed up against me like you used to be
I wanna feel you breathe, and the heat of your skin
To see if it leads to what it did back then
Come dance with me
Come dance with me

Two Bartender (Traditional MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
There's too much world to rearrange
My best bets to make it go away
Too many things I can't change
And so little I can explain
I'm trying to disconnect my intellect
I need more whiskey instead of less
So give me two bartender, I'll forget her in half the time

Give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind
Too much left to think about
It's only 'round 12:59
So set me up again my friend
Before it's closing time
And give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind

I guess I'm not as over her as I'd like to be
I can't quite lick it or reach my limit
I'm an emotional casualty
I can't seem to lose these love-sick blues
So open up another bottle of truth
And give me two bartender, I'll forget her in half the time

Give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind
Too much left to think about
It's only 'round 12:59
So set me up again my friend
Before it's closing time
And give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind

Well it seems I got a lot of thoughts left to be thunk
They keep running through my head all at once
I'm a long way from feeling I've had enough
So it's thumbs down on life and bottoms up

And give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind
Too much left to think about
It's only 'round 12:59
So set me up again my friend
Before it's closing time
And give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind
Give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind
Give me two bartender, there's a lot more on my mind

Lyrics
Well I go bar hoppin' I don't get home till dawn
Runnin’ nonstop in places I don't belong
I got it made in the shade if the tree don't fall
Stayin' out late till the last call
I’m runnin' in the ground
Livin' it up on my way down

I live it up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday night
But Sunday, one day, I stay, away, home to re-energize
I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, and I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up, way up on my way down

I’m givin’ up workin’ that grind from nine to five
For spendin’ more time in the honkytonks and dives
I'm like a dog with fleas scratchin' away
Until that tree falls down one day
I stay tightly wound
Livin' it up on my way down

I live it up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday night
But Sunday, one day, I stay, away, home to re-energize
I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, and I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up, way up on my way down

I’m gonna keep on keepin’ on til I’ve had enough
Until that neon jungle crumbles I'm gonna keep on livin' it up

I live it up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday night
But Sunday, one day, I stay, away, home to re-energize
I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up, way up on my way down

I'm burnin' up this town, I'm renowned, as the king of the night, I wear the crown
I'm livin' it up, way up on my way down

THROUGH THE NOISE (COUNTRY BLUES MIX)

Lyrics
Jesus I’m a newbie
I don’t know how to pray
Like that Jimmy Stewart movie
I need an angel sent my way

You make it pretty clear
You’ve got ten firm rules
It don’t matter if my rear
Sits on a pew or bar stool

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out my sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

My mom would be encouraged
That I’m finally talking to you
Cause You know how much she worries
I guess the truth is I do too

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out my sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

My head's in constant chatter
From a world that's never quiet
The only thing I'm askin' for is silence

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out my sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

They've shared a life he can’t remember
They've shared a life she can’t forget
Now she’s the stranger in the mirror
Who combs his hair and helps him dress

They started young raisin’ a family
And seldom took time for themselves
They had a closeness most can only dream
Through rich or poor, sickness and health

Before his memory
Of happy ever after
Before his history
Of everything that mattered
Was shattered into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

He used to joke “I don’t remember squat”
She’d just say “You work too hard”
Now lost among his scattered thoughts
He still holds her in his arms

Before his memory
Of happy ever after
Before his history
Of everything that mattered
Was shattered into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

He’ll always be the husband that she loves
She’ll always see the father that he was

Before his memory
Of happy ever after
Before his history
Of everything that mattered
Was shattered into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

She'd give anything if she could have him back

She’d just say “You work too hard”
Now lost among his scattered thoughts
He still holds her in his arms

Before his memory of happy ever after
Before his history of everything that mattered
Was shattered into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

He’ll always be - the husband that she loves
She’ll always see - the father that he was

Before his memory of happy ever after
Before his history of everything that mattered
Was shattered into pieces of their past
Like broken glass

She'd give anything if she could have him back
Unbroken glass

GOD'S LITTLE HALF ACRE (ACOUSTIC MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
At the Eventide Convalescent Center, every third Saturday
Dad and I would go eat dinner, with aunt Opal who was eighty-eight
I was pickin’ at my food, when an old black man sat down at the table by me
He looked me in the eye and said how do you do, my name’s Cushinberry

Said I was born in an all black town in Kansas, called Nickodemus
In World War II was an Army medic, then settled in Topeka
I was fortunate to have a good mama and dad, who taught me all about God’s grace
The same way son that yours have, or you wouldn’t be here today

You can always find someone that's got it worse, help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth, to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody, you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spend’s just payin’ rent, for God’s little half acre

He said for years I gave away food and clothes, had a Christian Mission store
Had a sign that read for the needy not the greedy, that hung above the door
I like to think I gave hope and dreams, to folks who didn’t have any
Son I saw things that just shouldn’t be, here in the land of plenty

You can always find someone that's got it worse, help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth, to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody, you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spend’s just payin’ rent, for God’s little half acre

Three weeks passed, I went back, they told me he had died
Mumblin’ somethin’ about a little piece of ground, waitin’ on the other side

You can always find someone that's got it worse, help ‘em if you can
God put us on this earth, to help our fellow man
If you go out of your way to help somebody, you’re returned the favor
Cause the time we spend’s just payin’ rent, to this day I think of him
Visitin’ with all his friends, on God’s little half acre

Coming Home (Acoustic Blues MIX)

Plays: 0

I’ve seen
California to Portugal
Every highway and terminal
But I missed bullfrogs singin’ their songs
And crickets as they sing along
I’ve been all around the world but the sweetest road I know
Is the one that I’m on comin’ home

I've seen
California to Portugal
Every highway and terminal
But I missed bullfrogs singin’ their songs
And crickets as they sing along
I’ve been all around the world but the sweetest road I know
Is the one that ‘m on comin’ home

Greet every sunrise like it might be your last
Treat everyone how you want to be treated back
I guarantee that right before you go
The angels tell your mama you’re comin’ home

KISS A LOT OF FROGS (NUGRASS MIX)

Lyrics
KISS A LOTTA FROGS
Marvin Adcock/ John Bizzack

Mama says I'll know it
When the right man comes my way
He'll give me the kind of kiss
My inner Sleeping Beauty will awake
So many dates searching for those lips
Just to end up later texting my girlfriends
Hash tag just another dead end
But I will find my prince

I wanna man who's a little bit Rip
Cause I 'm a little bit Beth
I'm sorry Mama but I don't want charmin'
'Cause I ain't no princess
A good man who's a little bad boy
Is right at the top of my list
Till then I'll kiss a lotta frogs
But I will find my prince

Bogus Casanovas
Toads with human heads
Where I work and where I play
With their sights set on trying to get
Me to compromise and settle for less
And break down my defense
Hash tag just another dead end
But I will find my prince

I wanna man who's a little bit Rip
Cause I 'm a little bit Beth
I'm sorry Mama but I don't want charmin'
'Cause I ain't no princess
A good man who's a little bad boy
Is right at the top of my list
Till then I'll kiss a lotta frogs
But I will find my prince

MIRACLE PILL (COUNTRY R&B MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics

Don't Feel the Rain (Christian Country Mix)

Plays: 0

Rain falls in
Life now and then
Love heals pain
And shields the rain

He takes His final breath and bows His head
His work on earth is finally done
With the last beat of his heart the sky goes dark
Another mother holds her son
Unless you live to feel it, words just won’t explain
Unselfish love, they don’t feel the rain

Once you live to feel it, life won’t be the same
With unselfish love, you don’t feel the rain
You don’t feel the rain

WORKIN' MAN'S HANDS (MIX)

Plays: 3
Lyrics
A man in a three thousand dollar suit
Glanced down at my hands before bothering to look up at my face
He saw knuckles scarred from years of hard work
And under my nails stains of grease and dirt scrubbin' can't erase

I said I came for career day from mendin' fences
Made a promise to my little girl I wouldn't miss it
He blinked and smiled but his eyes said what he didn't

I stood at the front of that classroom
No slides, no videos, just the truth
And I said I never went to college
These boots I wear have never seen polish
Yeah we need doctors, and we need lawyers
But I'm a fourth generation farmer
My job's to take good care of this land
And proudly wear that dirt on these workin' man's hands

Then the whole room froze everyone was silent
When your lights go out I said you call a lineman not a pharmacist
And if your AC quits the hottest part of summer
Or your water bursts you're gonna call a plumber cause it just makes sense

I said these jobs aren't fallbacks, they're foundations
They're the backbone that helped build this nation
And I believe that they should be part of your education

I stood at the front of that classroom
No slides, no videos, just the truth
And I said I never went to college
These boots I wear have never seen polish
Yeah we need doctors, and we need lawyers
But I'm a fourth generation farmer
My job's to take good care of this land
And proudly wear that dirt on these workin' man's hands

A boy in the back yelled my dad's a rancher
Then a little girl said my mom's a dispatcher
Then the man in the suit told the kids in the room my dad swung a hammer

I stood at the front of that classroom
No slides, no videos, just the truth
And I said I never went to college
These boots I wear have never seen polish
Yeah we need doctors, and we need lawyers
But I'm a fourth generation farmer
My job's to take good care of this land
And proudly wear that dirt on these workin' man's hands
A workin' man's hands
A workin' man's hands

Lettin' Go (Country Blues Mix)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
From zero to a problem don't take long
Sometimes there's no stopping what goes wrong
We're told what don't kill you makes you strong
But that's a point of view I'm still working on

Letting go
Is the hardest thing I know
Open up that window that looks right into my soul
And letting go
Letting all the feelings show
Let my heart release the guilt the grief and forgiveness that I hold
By letting go

It was a normal Tuesday when my father died
A peaceful Sunday when my buddy lost his wife
An average Wednesday when I learned my son had cancer to fight
Now they're days that I'll remember my whole life

Letting go
Is the hardest thing I know
Open up that window that looks right into my soul
And letting go
Letting all the feelings show
Let my heart release the guilt the grief and forgiveness that I hold
By letting go

When a cold hard truth first drives me to my knees
I don't know who to curse or to believe
So until I'm back again on solid ground
Some days I will swim but some I'll drown

Letting go
Is the hardest thing I know
Open up that window that looks right into my soul
And letting go
Letting all the feelings show
Let my heart release the guilt the grief the anger that spills out of me
To accept the way things cannot be
By forgiving myself for
Letting go

From zero to a problem don't take long
The only way that I'll move on
Is letting go

All the Horses He Rode

Plays: 0
Lyrics
There’s a hole in his heart that her memory walks through
And a whole lotta past that he’d like to undo
Years of bruises, busted bones and too much time spent healing
All alone

So tonight from the front porch of his cabin he strolls
Through memories of records broke and years of wild oats sown
Till she told him I just won't compete with your feelings
For rodeo

But now he’d trade those titles, all the ropes and the reins
The saddles, and the buckles, all the trucks and all the fame
For one night with that woman he wouldn’t let get close but now needs most
He’d trade all of the horses he's rode

Chasin’ gold from a saddle hell bent on career
He couldn’t see past the next horse or steer
Tradin' letters she wrote beggin' him to come home for horses
That he rode

Now he’d trade those titles, all the ropes and the reins
The saddles, and the buckles, all the trucks and all the fame
For one night with that woman he wouldn’t let get close but now needs most
He’d trade all of the horses he’s rode

Now he’d trade those titles, all the ropes and the reins
The saddles, and the buckles, all the trucks and all the fame
For one night with that woman he wouldn’t let get close but now needs most
He’d trade all of the horses he’s rode
He’d trade all of the horses he’s rode

Choices Of the Heart (Country R&B Mix)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
We didn’t choose to fall in love - it kinda just sucked us in
A decision that simply was - made without questionin’
It wasn’t a roll of the dice - we knew right from the start
Some things you don’t even think twice - they’re choices of the heart

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

The first time I laid eyes on you - my heart told my mind and soul
Somethin’ they both already knew - this time I’m takin’ control
Typically you’d shrug me off - with a stinging remark
Just like me you were already lost - to choices of the heart

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

We spent that night - just talkin’ and laughin’
It felt so right - just lettin’ love happen

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart
Choices of the heart
Choices of the heart

LOVE OF A WOMAN (MIX)

Lyrics
LOVE OF A WOMAN
Writers: Adcock / Orsega

Most days it's just a game
And I do well to play my part
I go to work and wear the face
And thank my lucky stars

The love of a woman
Takes me home at night
The love of a woman
Balances my life
With a soft touch and a gentle smile
A love that makes it all worthwhile
That innocent and wild
Love of a woman

Same plan as every man
I don’t let my struggles show
Some believe I don't need a thing
But little do they know

The love of a woman
Takes me home at night
The love of a woman
Balances my life
With a soft touch and a gentle smile
A love that makes it all worthwhile
That innocent and wild
Love of a woman

I walk through that door each night
To the greatest blessing in my life

The love of a woman
Takes me home at night
The love of a woman
Balances my life
With a soft touch and a gentle smile
A love that makes it all worthwhile
That innocent and wild
Love of a woman

Best Arms (Original MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
There’s a blue in your eyes and it tells me she’s more than a friend
I know when I hold you she’s on your mind again
Right now I'm thinking it's better if I just let you go
Lord knows I love you and you know that it's true
I'm the best arms you'll ever slip through

I know I can't change it no matter how I want to
You don't want to hurt me but some need for her pulls hard on you
No you can't deny it and I can't fight it
We both know who's gonna lose
Cause darlin' I love you and you know that it's true
I'm the best arms you'll ever slip through

What she gives and what I have well they are one and the same
It's no good to hold on when there's no good love left to make
So you better go to her this rainbow's already turned blue
And it's clear to me dear I can't hold what's not here
And I'm the best arms you'll ever slip through

Well I know I can't change it no matter how I want to
You don't want to hurt me but some need for her pulls hard on you
No you can't deny it and I can't fight it
We both know who's gonna lose
Darlin' I love you and you know that it's true
I'm the best arms you'll ever slip through

Darlin' I love you you know it's true
I'm the best arms you'll ever slip through

DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO (COUNTRY R&B MIX)

Plays: 0
Lyrics
Is there anyone listnin’ who hadn't thought about quittin’
And runnin’ away
Is there anyone here who hadn’t feared
What’s comin’ next day
Is there anyone who hadn’t felt like a fool
And asked yourself what am I gonna do

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelings out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
Do what you gotta do

A single mom in the city or a farm in Mississippi
Some roads run uphill
You make your own breaks and your own mistakes
Doin’ what you feel
After more than a few walls ran into
You tell yourself to hell with the rules

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelings out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
Do what you gotta do

Dead tired you wanna stop, don’t wanna go another round
But without a second thought, you drop that plow back in the ground

You gotta reach way down
Ride those feelings out
For your family, faith and freedom
You work hard to hold onto
For your family, faith and freedom
Make no excuse
Do what you gotta do
Do what you gotta do

ALL THE WAY HOME

Plays: 3
Lyrics
ALL THE WAY HOME
Marvin Adcock

The last time he took off that uniform
After years of upholdin' the oath he'd sworn
He stepped into a new world half scared to death
My resume's a DD two fourteen
He says when asked if he has a degree
Followed by some smart remark under their breath

He feels broken
End of his rope, no emotions
Barely floatin' out here on his own
He needs healing
So he can start dealing with the feeling
That he's not quite all the way home

His high school buddies have all moved on
Payin' bills, have families and perfect lawns
And do their best to act like he ain't changed
Right now he's a square peg that just don't fit
But he's slowly beginning to admit
Beneath the rank and ribbons we're all the same

He feels broken
End of his rope, no emotions
Barely floatin' out here on his own
He needs healing
So he can start dealing with the feeling
That he's not quite all the way home

He said I'm here tonight to admit that I am powerless
I'm tired of being home, but not being home, if that makes sense

He feels broken
End of his rope, no emotions
Barely floatin' out here on his own
He needs healing
So he can start dealing with the feeling
That he's not quite all the way home

Lyrics
WORTH WATCHING
Writers: Marvin Adcock / Tim Schlesener

It was evenin’ front porch listnin’
To my elders in my youth
And the sound of rain drops drippin’
Off a rusty old tin roof
It was the first wish on the first star
As the summer sun was droppin’
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was the minute that it hit me
That your grandma was the one
Just to say the rest was his’try
Don’t near cover all we done
It was the arguments and make ups
All our wins and all our losses
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was a gravel road to a fishin’ hole
With kids loaded in the back
It was the way I sweat praying she’d say yes
It don’t get no better than that
I pray when I reach those gates
The Lord sees what I do often
Little pieces of a life worth watchin'

That was the last time I was with him
We spent hours on that porch
It was a special summer evenin'
I’m forever thankful for
I made a wish upon the first star
As the summer sun was droppin’
Little pieces of a life worth watchin’

It was a gravel road to a fishin’ hole
With kids loaded in the back
It was the way I sweat praying she’d say yes
It don’t get no better than that

Through the Noise
Writers: Marvin Adcock / Gary Adcock

Jesus I’m a newbie
I don’t know how to pray
Like that Jimmy Stewart movie
I need an angel sent my way

You make it pretty clear
You’ve got ten firm rules
It don’t matter if my rear
Sits on a pew or bar stool

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out my sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

My mom would be encouraged
That I’m finally talking to you
Cause You know how much she worries
I guess the truth is I do too

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out my sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

My head's in constant chatter
From a world that's never quiet
The only thing I'm askin' for is silence

Your door was standing open
So I just walked on in
Hit my knees beside your pulpit
Started spilling out my sins
Sometimes I feel like giving up
I’m hoping you can hear my voice
Even though I know I make it tough
For you to hear me through the noise

Lyrics
CROSS YOUR HEART
Marvin Adcock / John Bizzack

He’s felt the chill of city winds
And heat from desert roads
Thirty-one and fence rail thin
Still chasin’ rodeos
Each call home his mama scolds him
I never know where you are
I pray you’re OK and the right girl someday
Will cross your heart

He loves to feel that horse below
And hear the roar of a crowd
With every win he thanks his heros
To some he’s one now
An old cowboy told him once in Reno
Look at me and get smart
Don’t shut the gate on the trail love might take
To cross your heart

He’d started blamin’ the way he lives
For the lonesome achin’ in his arms
Cause lately he’s been wonderin’
Could someone ever cross his heart

She asked if he’d like one more cup
Before they closed for the night
Her sweet voice made him slowly look up
Into an angel’s eyes
Tailgate livin’ from an old Ford truck
Had started losin’ charm
You never know when things you can’t control
Will cross your heart

You never know when things you can’t control
Will cross your heart

Lyrics
Too Good To Be Forgot
Writer: Marvin Adcock

Lightnin’ speed on spoke wheeled bikes
Hide and seek hot summer nights
Swimmin’ creeks when fish don’t bite
I can still recall

Growin’ up when times were lean
To have enough was all you need
Mama’s love fixed everything
And taught us all

From your knees count your blessings each day
For those more in need always pray
Don’t lose sight of where you’re from
Cause in time it will become
Treasured forever in your thoughts
These days are too good to be forgot

Granddad used to make me laugh
Teased me to the day he passed
Enjoy your youth boy time goes fast
But I didn’t believe

Got a small tribe of my own
I can’t deny how fast they grow
From Heaven high “I told you so”
Gramps keeps telling me

From your knees count your blessings each day
For those more in need always pray
Don’t lose sight of where you’re from
Cause In time it will become
Treasured forever in your thoughts
These days are too good to be forgot

Don’t lose sight of where you’re from
Cause in time it will become
Treasured forever in your thoughts
These days are too good

Marvin Adcock

There's a storm rollin' in, but she don’t care
She's using her drenched body as a wind break
Until his little feet clear those school bus stairs
She won’t leave till she knows he’s safe
Unless you live to feel it, words just won’t explain
With unselfish love, you don’t feel the rain

He’s standin’ on the corner and it’s pourin’
His sign held high for all to see
It says I’m lookin’ for a job cause the one before it
Wasn’t much but fed my family
Unless you live to feel it, words just won’t explain
With unselfish love, you don’t feel the rain

Rain falls in
To life now and then
That's when love heals the pain
And shields the rain

He took His final breath and bowed His head
His work on earth was finally done
He showed us love can conquer even death
With His words, "Woman behold your son"
Unless you live to feel it, words just won’t explain
With unselfish love, you don’t feel the rain

Once you live to feel it, your life won’t be the same
With unselfish love, you don’t feel the rain
You don’t feel the rain

Workin' Man's Hands (Country Rock Anthem MIX)

Lyrics
WORKIN' MAN'S HANDS
Writer: Marvin Adcock

A man in a three thousand dollar suit
Glanced down at my hands before bothering t
Llook up at my face
He saw knuckles scarred from years of hard work
And under my nails stains of grease and dirt
Scrubbin' can't erase

I said I came for career day from mendin' fences
Made a promise to my little girl I wouldn't miss it
He blinked and smiled but his eyes said what he didn't

I stood at the front of that classroom
No slides, no videos, just the truth
And I said I never went to college
These boots I wear have never seen polish
Yeah we need doctors, and we need lawyers
But I'm a fourth generation farmer
My job's to take good care of this land
And proudly wear that dirt on these workin' man's hands

Then the whole room froze everyone was silent
When your lights go out I said you call a lineman
Not a pharmacist
And if your AC quits the hottest part of summer
Or your water bursts you're gonna call a plumber
Cause it just makes sense

These jobs aren't fallbacks, they're foundations
They're the backbone that helped build this nation
I believe that they should be part of your education

I stood at the front of that classroom
No slides, no videos, just the truth
And I said I never went to college
These boots I wear have never seen polish
Yeah we need doctors, and we need lawyers
But I'm a fourth generation farmer
My job's to take good care of this land
And proudly wear that dirt on these workin' man's hands

A boy in the back yelled my dad's a rancher
A little girl said my mom's a dispatcher
Then the man in the suit told the kids in the room my dad swung a hammer

I stood at the front of that classroom
No slides, no videos, just the truth
And I said I never went to college
These boots I wear have never seen polish
Yeah we need doctors, and we need lawyers
But I'm a fourth generation farmer
My job's to take good care of this land
I proudly wear that dirt on these workin' man's hands
Workin' man's hands
Workin' man's hands

You Don't Love the Same Woman

Lyrics
YOU DON'T LOVE THE SAME WOMAN
Marvin Adcock

On a flight from Dallas comin' home
I sat next to an old man flyin' alone
Told me he recently lost his better half
Next month would have been 60 years
As he talked about her I could feel his tears
I asked what's your secret that made it last

He didn't laugh or say communication
Fancy date nights or big vacations
He looked at me and said you learn to relearn
'Cause a woman changes just like the future
You change how you love her so you don't lose her
Always treat her like she's more than you deserve

At 30 she needs respect more than romance
At 40 she needs a partner more than passion
At 50 she needs presence more than promises
At 60 she needs caring more than compassion
There'll come a time you realize
You didn't even see it comin'
You don't love the same woman

He said the girl I married at 21
Was not the same woman at 30 son
At every change I had a choice my friend
Motherhood changed her that was the first
Followed by loss that was the worst
I could either complain or relearn her again

At 30 she needs respect more than romance
At 40 she needs a partner more than passion
At 50 she needs presence more than promises
At 60 she needs caring more than compassion
There'll come a time you realize
You didn't even see it comin'
You don't love the same woman

I'll never forget his last words after we touched down in Nashville
He said "Son don't ever stop studying her or someone else will."

At 30 she needs respect more than romance
At 40 she needs a partner more than passion
At 50 she needs presence more than promises
At 60 she needs caring more than compassion
There'll come a time you realize
You didn't even see it comin'
You don't love the same woman
