Christmas in Sacramento ©2018 Steve Bryant (VERSE 1) The Kings are at the Golden One, To win another game. The whole town’s really growing fast, It never stays the same. There’s Christmas tree at the Capitol, Another in Old Town. An hour up the Interstate, The snow is falling down. (VERSE 2) Christmas is a special time, In the City of the Trees. Shoppers don’t seem to mind, The cold December breeze. Decorations everywhere, From museums to the Zoo. And children can hardly wait, For Santa to get through. (CHORUS) Christmas in Sacramento Town, The lights at Cal Expo are glowing. Christmas in Sacramento Town, Our Sacramento pride is showing. (BRIDGE) From the Foothills to the Delta, You can hear the Christmas Bells ring. In perfect rhythm with the carols That you sing. (VERSE 3) The Kings, Republics and River Cats, Help make the city great. And all the first responders, Who never show up late. Christmas in Sacramento, I think you might have guessed. It’s the people here who make this town, One of the nation’s best. (REPEAT CHORUS)

She Sang Every Sunday ©2018 Steve Bryant (VERSE) She brought music to my life, And everyone around. People came from near and far, To celebrate her sound. She sang at clubs and parties, Could have been a big star on Broadway. But she didn’t miss the fame at all, When she sang every Sunday. (CHORUS) It was a little country church, With a great big congregation. We came to hear the words of God, And join in celebration. But you could hear a pin drop, When she sang of Heaven’s Highway. She showed us all a glimpse of God. When she sang every Sunday. (VERSE) Her music was a special thing, She shared it when she could. She never let life get her down, Always sang about the good. Her music came from deep inside, She sang at work and at play, Had the best times of her life When she sang every Sunday. (CHORUS) It was a little country church, With a great big congregation. We came to hear the words of God, And join in celebration. But you could hear a pin drop, When she sang of Heaven’s Highway. She showed us all a glimpse of God. When she sang every Sunday. (BRIDGE) Life’s as long as it is short, The present and the past. Nothing lasts forever, Her time went by so fast. (VERSE) (Instrumental solo for half the verse. Same chords as the first 4 lines of the verse.) The congregation mourns her. I know I’ll see her one day. But her music lives in this old church. She still sings every Sunday.

My Heart Took A Picture of Jesus words and music Copyright 2018 Steven D. Bryant Narrative 1: I will not speak in whispers, Afraid that I’ll be heard. I’ll proudly say that God is love, No one should fear His word. They banned His name in all their schools, And took Him from the courts. Erased Him from their holidays, And all their news reports. The doubters only took His name, And that’s the smallest part. They thought that He was gone for good, He still lives inside my heart. Chorus: My heart took a picture of Jesus, And framed it with my soul. It decorates the best in me, And helps to keep me whole. My heart took a picture of Jesus, The colors never fade. It’s everything I want to be, The image that God made. Narrative 2: Nation will rise against nation, They have nothing left to lose. Hatred has spread around the world, And fills the evening news. Those who speak God’s name aloud, Are silenced every day. Anyone who still believes, Can only watch and say. (Repeat Chorus) Narrative 3 I know they’ll bring Him back one day. The time will come, you’ll see. God will live with us again, And help to keep us free. Until that day, you can’t be sad, Or angry or depressed. Just see the picture in your heart, And know that you are blessed. (Repeat Chorus – Slight lyric change) Chorus: Let your heart take a picture of Jesus, And frame it with your soul. It decorates the best in you, And helps to keep you whole. Let your heart take a picture of Jesus, The colors never fade. It’s everything you want to be, The image that God made.

An Older But Wiser Kind of Guy (VERSE) Used to do it all night, Now it takes all night to do. Never ate before sundown, Now I'm chowing down at 2. I avoid the prime rib, It's just too hard to chew. I'm an older but wiser kind of guy. I have wrinkles everywhere, Some places wrinkles shouldn't be. AARP's been after me, Since I was 43. It takes about an hour, Every time I pee. I'm an older but wiser kind of guy. (CHORUS) I get discounts everywhere I go, Where were they when I was makin' real dough? There's a special bus for every grandpa and gram, I'd take it but sometimes I forget where I am. (VERSE) Bought myself an I-Phone, Can't work the thing at all. Doesn't really matter, I never get a call. My belly's getting bigger, But my bladder got so small. I'm an older but wiser kind of guy. I have a special doctor, He's a geriatric wiz. I will go to see him, When I remember where he is. My memory's not that bad, But I hope there's not a quiz. I'm an older but wiser kind of guy. (BRIDGE) Can't afford to go too far from away, Stay home when I take vacations. It's hard to find music I like, It's even too old for the oldies stations. (VERSE) There are dating services, For those who did survive. I'd like to try them, But I think my wife is still alive. If it's further than 2 blocks, You know I'm gonna drive, I'm an older but wiser kind of guy. Sex used to be a special thing, We had it all the time. Now it's every other birthday, Anymore would be a crime, She liked to be on top, Now she just can't make the climb. I'm an older but wiser kind of guy. (CHORUS) I'm still above ground, pretty sure I'm alive, And damn happy about it, It's a big deal, I want to tell the whole world, But I don't have the breath to shout it. (VERSE) Some say that I'm an old fart, My time is fading fast. Everything is failing. And I'm running out of gas. But I'm strong enough to tell 'em, To shove it up their ass. I'm an older but wiser, Just an older but wiser, An older but wiser kind of guy.

Take Me Home (Verse 1) The old man sat in the pouring rain. The dirt and wrinkles hid the pain. There was a time when he had a wife, A couple kids, what passed for a life. (Chorus 1) No one sees him day after day, Like he isn’t there. But if you listen, you’ll hear him pray, And ask for someone to care. Take me home, take me home. I need a place to call my own. Take me home, take me home. Lord Jesus, take me home. (Verse 2) She was the apple of her daddy’s eye. The strongest link, no one saw her cry. Always looking for something to last. Tried for meaning before her life passed. (Chorus 2) No one sees her day after day, Like she isn’t there. But if you listen, you’ll hear her pray, And ask for someone to care. Take me home, take me home. I need a place to call my own. Take me home, take me home. Lord Jesus, take me home. (Verse 3) I’m pretty average, a little too sad. Far from perfect, but more good than bad. I fought the good fight, I won and I lost. Over 50, wondering what was the cost. (Chorus 3) No one sees me day after day, Like I’m just not there. But if you listen, you’ll hear me pray, And ask for someone to care. Take me home, take me home. I need a place to call my own. Take me home, take me home. Lord Jesus, take me home.

Boots on the Ground Words and Music ©2014 (Verse) Thought you got away with murder, Didn’t think anyone was around. Never believed you’d get busted, Then I put my boots on the ground. Wasn’t good enough to meet your friends, Just a booty call when you were around. Thought you had everything covered, You didn’t see my boots on the ground. You thought I would just sit and take it, Acting like a victim who’s bound. I ripped off the shackles, made a new stand, With both my boots on the ground. (Chorus) Boots on the ground, proud and standing tall, Uncovered every lie that you told. Boots on the ground just to kick your ass, Never thought I could be so cold. (Verse) Played fast and loose with my feelings, I followed you without making a sound. You tried to run, thought you’d get away. You were too slow for my boots on the ground. Thought you were tough, you could take it, When it was over, guess what I found? You crumpled like an old ten dollar suit, When I put my boots on the ground. (Chorus) Boots on the ground, proud and standing tall, Uncovered every lie that you told. Boots on the ground just to kick your ass, Never thought I could be so cold.

He rolled away the stone, So we’d never be alone. He walked 200 miles, That’s where his seeds were sewn. He walked 200 miles, That’s where his seeds were sewn. He rolled away the stone, So we’d never be alone. Chorus: Always spoke His mind. Made the rabbis wary. Not a pacifist, He was a revolutionary. He was crucified, Now he sits upon the throne. He rolled away the stone, So we’d never be alone. Verse: He had friends and disciples, But he never had a home. He had friends and disciples, But he never had a home. Not Enough ©2018 Steve Bryant (VERSE) She said she could fix me, Her love would be enough. I put down the bottle for almost a year, At times it got pretty rough. I wasn’t much of a husband, Not even a friend. She stayed as long as she could, But I was too broken to mend. (CHORUS) There’s not enough beer in Milwaukee, To wash away her smile. Not enough Bourbon in Kentucky, To make me forget awhile. Not enough wine in California, To take the loneliness away. Guess I never had enough love, To make her stay. (VERSE) I was in and out of rehab, She wouldn’t believe I had changed. Tried to tell her so many times, She couldn’t forget the pain. I finally got a good job, Stopped the drinking and the lies. Spending my life without her, Even a fool would realize… (CHORUS) There’s not enough beer in Milwaukee, To wash away her smile. Not enough Bourbon in Kentucky, To make me forget awhile. Not enough wine in California, To take the loneliness away. Guess I never had enough love, To make her stay. (BRIDGE) There’s always enough time, To do the things you should. But there’s never enough time, To make a bad decision good. (CHORUS) There’s not enough beer in Milwaukee, To wash away her smile. Not enough Bourbon in Kentucky, To make me forget awhile. Not enough wine in California, To take the loneliness away. Guess I never had enough love, To make her stay.

Booty Call ©2014 Words and Music Steven D. Bryant It’s a little before midnight, Fallon ain’t making me smile. Kimmel and Letterman, same old stuff, I turn ‘em all off after a while. Nothing new on Netflix, So I call an old friend or two. I caught one at home, she picked up the phone. And asked me what I want her to do. I told her I was lonely, all by myself. Needed some company. She reminded me how late it was, I said it didn’t matter to me. She said she had to shower, Needed time to fix up her hair. Told me that it might take an hour, I told her that I just didn’t care. She said there’d be no funny stuff, Told her I didn’t want to laugh. I said if she’d just get off the phone, She’d probably cut her time in half. She said she was coming over to talk, And snuggle, but nothing more. I got off the phone, tidied up my home Checked for protection in the drawer. I need a booty call, With no strings attached. A booty call, Afterwards we’ll have some snacks. It’ll take time to convince her, She’ll say it isn’t right. I’ll tell her it’s okay, but she just can’t stay the night. I’m not looking for a girlfriend, I might have a lot of gall. Don’t want a long term commitment, Just a late night booty call. About an hour later, I hear a knock upon my door. I greeted her with a smile, My tighty whities, but no more. She said she wasn’t coming in, I had to go get dressed, I grabbed a shirt, pulled on my jeans, Tried hard to look my best. She told me I should act my age, Not like some kind of horny child. I said it wouldn’t be easy, Because her body always drove me wild. We settled on the sofa, I opened her up a beer. Put out some Ritz crackers, And tried to sit real near. We talked about the weather, Politics and Beyonce’s kid. When I made my move she shut me down And scolded me for what I did. Left me on the sofa, gave me the finger, And walked right out the door, Just then my cell phone rang, It was the girl I met the night before. She needs a booty call, With no strings attached. A booty call, Afterwards we’ll have some snacks. Won’t take time to convince me, I won’t say it isn’t right She’ll tell me it’s okay, but won’t let me stay the night. She’s not looking for a boyfriend, She might have a lot of gall. She don’t want a long term commitment, Just a late night booty call. We ain’t looking for forever, We don’t want a long haul. They went up in October, Along with Christmas lights. It was 60 days of Christmas, And 60 lonely nights. (VERSE 2) We both promised forever, But that was just a lie. Swore that we would love and honor, 'Til the day we die. Didn’t take long to crumble, All the lying and the fights. It was 60 days of Christmas, And 60 lonely nights. (CHORUS) 60 days of Christmas, And 60 lonely nights. Everywhere you hear a Christmas song. 60 days of Christmas, And 60 lonely nights. Can’t believe the hurt can last this long. (BRIDGE) We sang Christmas Carols, Watched Charlie Brown on TV. Now I spend my days alone, You have a new family. (VERSE 3) (Half a verse instrumental solo.) Give the shirt off your back, do it all with a grin. Would you risk everything, knowing you might not win? (CHORUS) How far would you go? For a friend, someday you’ll know. Comes from your heart, it’s not just for show. It’s for a friend. (VERSE 2) How far would you go for a friend? If your friend is in trouble, you know there’s no end. Won’t matter where, won’t matter when. No chance you won’t take, no rules you won’t bend. (CHORUS) How far would you go? For a friend, someday you’ll know, Comes from your heart, it’s not just for show. It’s for a friend. (BRIDGE) No telling how far, Across the street, to the moon or a star. You’ll never know how special you are, To a friend. (INSTRUMENTAL SOLO) (SECOND BRIDGE) No one has that many, Most count their friends on just one hand. You’re Gonna Repeat It Words and Music (Verse) She said that she’d love him, ‘Til the end of time. He’d heard those words many times before, But those other ladies all had been lyin’. Thought this one would be different, Now he had something to last. Woke up one morning, she was gone, Just like it was in the past. (Chorus) If you have a problem, You know you can beat it. If you have a real tough job, Hard work will complete it. When every new day comes, You wake up and greet it. But if you don’t remember the past, You’re gonna repeat it. (Verse) His new boss called him the best man, He could do the work of 3 men. Other bosses told him the same thing. He never thought about it again. The new boss said he was sorry, He was the last one hired, Business was soft, he got laid off, It sounded so much nicer than fired. (Chorus) If you have a problem, You know you can beat it. If you have a real tough job, Hard work will complete it. When every new day comes, You wake up and greet it. But if you don’t remember the past, You’re gonna repeat it. (Bridge - Spoken Rhythmically) Don’t have to be a genius, it’s common sense, There’s a lot of truth living right in your past tense. Doing the same thing is your vanity, A different outcome is just insanity. Repair shops are gone since nothing will last, Nobody knows what went down in the past. Ask a kid today about some history, You’ll get a blank stare - it’s a mystery. Twitter and texting are the new Gods, Facebook and Periscope get the applause. We repeat mistakes it’s really rotten, Because the past is just forgotten. (Chorus) If you have a problem, You know you can beat it. If you have a real tough job, Hard work will complete it. When every new day comes, You wake up and greet it. But if you don’t remember the past, You’re gonna repeat it. (Verse) Every time I watch the news, I know that something ain’t right. People so full of hate Everybody’s itching for a fight. Politicians keep on talking, Nobody’s minding the store, No one is paying attention, To how it went down before. (Chorus) If you have a problem, You know you can beat it. If you have a real tough job, Hard work will complete it. When every new day comes, You wake up and greet it. But if you don’t remember the past, You’re gonna repeat it.
