    Backstory:
I was the Deacon of a little country church and wrote this in response to the public and media "complaints" about Christianity.

    Lyrics:

My Heart Took A Picture of Jesus words and music Copyright 2018 Steven D. Bryant Narrative 1: I will not speak in whispers, Afraid that I’ll be heard. I’ll proudly say that God is love, No one should fear His word. They banned His name in all their schools, And took Him from the courts. Erased Him from their holidays, And all their news reports. The doubters only took His name, And that’s the smallest part. They thought that He was gone for good, He still lives inside my heart. Chorus: My heart took a picture of Jesus, And framed it with my soul. It decorates the best in me, And helps to keep me whole. My heart took a picture of Jesus, The colors never fade. It’s everything I want to be, The image that God made. Narrative 2: Nation will rise against nation, They have nothing left to lose. Hatred has spread around the world, And fills the evening news. Those who speak God’s name aloud, Are silenced every day. Anyone who still believes, Can only watch and say. (Repeat Chorus) Narrative 3 I know they’ll bring Him back one day. The time will come, you’ll see. God will live with us again, And help to keep us free. Until that day, you can’t be sad, Or angry or depressed. Just see the picture in your heart, And know that you are blessed. (Repeat Chorus – Slight lyric change) Chorus: Let your heart take a picture of Jesus, And frame it with your soul. It decorates the best in you, And helps to keep you whole. Let your heart take a picture of Jesus, The colors never fade. It’s everything you want to be, The image that God made.
