Interview
The Writer's Room
Why do you write songs?
I write songs because I feel like if I can share a story or an idea that conveys emotion and someone is affected by that in a positive way, I have achieved a beautiful form of communication. Music is the universal language and it helps people through their day. For me, it takes me on a journey, out of the ordinary into somewhere more special. I want to share this with others!

Who are your main influences?
Well having recently attended NSAI song camp, my new heros are: Ralph Murphy, Hugh Prestwood, Don Henry, Craig Carothers, Rick Beresford, and James Dean Hicks, in no particular order. I was very affected by the level of emotion conveyed when these guys perform their songs. Also of course Craig Wiseman and all the Nashville writers. There are really way too many other influences to list but a few would be Bob Dylan, Paul McArtney, James Taylor, Bill Monroe, Dicky Betts, etc...
