About Brad Yunek
I was born in '58 in Rockford, IL. but then grew up in CA. I married the love of my life in '81. We have been blessed with two wonderful kids, a daughter and a son. Both of our kids came along later in our married life, so they're either keepin' us young or wearin' us out dependin' on which day of the week and time of day you might ask. My wife and I can't imagine life without them! For 20 years I made my living as an equipment mechanic. Since '96 I have worked for 2 good friends who own and operate a guest ranch in Sandpoint, ID. The ranch is also home to my family.
I have been writing songs since I was in the 7th grade, playing mainly guitar with a little piano thrown in. It wasn't until 2004 that I began to get serious about what I would like to do with my writing ability, and that is to become a pro-writer. I have been a TAXI member since '05, and have been an NSAI member since '07. I write country and cont. christian. Some of the songs I've submitted for evaluation bend more to folk, and I have written a few comedy pieces that are about situations and/or animals here at the ranch. I have the opportunity to share my music with guests that stay with us here at the ranch at least once a week during the summer around the fire coupled along with old time fiddle tunes. I help with our worship team at church and have sung my songs in church, going back to junior high. I love to play and sing, but I consider myself utility grade at both. I have a fairly decent ear, and playing something by ear has always been easier for me than sight reading (even though I took piano for 5 years).
I have attended one TAXI Road Rally ('06) and one NSAI Song Camp (301/May of '08). I would love to get back to Nashville on a more frequent basis. I continue to write and to refine my writing. My goal is to begin to derive income from my songs through artist cuts, film/TV placements, or any other source that I can find.
