Why do you write songs?
For me, songs are a great way to communicate emotions, ideas and experiences. You can tell a story, whether it's your own or someone else's, and connect with people in a very basic way.
Who are your main influences?
Elton John/Bernie Taupin, Sting, Bob Bennett, Lyle Lovett, Patty Griffin, Sheryl Crow, and the Great American Songbook songwriters like Gershwin, Arlen, Ellington, Rodgers and Hart. I'm always absorbing new influences and getting to know old and new artists that I've not gravitated to before, but bottom line, my main influence is always what I think is a great song, no matter who or where it comes from.
